I like seeing the gauges, esp. the rpm vs. speed, and watching them when you shift. Like hearing the engine, and seeing what you see in the mirrors. Wish we could watch the shifting, too, but can't get it all in, I know. Guess some of us a driving vicariously though you. Would LOVE to be in your seat of that gorgeous and great truck!
They're not bad here in NC, but as soon as you hit VA from I85 or 95 it gets bad. PA is not too shabby, but they take 10 years for any type of construction completion. I mean PA has it on 78 where its nothing but a jersey barrier and two lanes which are complete garbage mind you, not including the bad drivers from the Trash state coming over. NE is all bad from road to bridge brackets. SE is not bad at all.
I can attest to that PA part. The only reason for that 10 year thing is because PennDot is a bunch of lazy union idiots paid to sit in their trucks for 85% of their shift. Scratch that 93%. It takes private companies for anything to be done in reasonable time.
I'm not certain if this is factual history but I think it is. Colonial mail carrier routes, over time they evolved into roads and highways which we use today.
Great truck and videos, brings back memories. Been retired for over five years after 38 years of trucking. Started out in 1979 running west coast, then ran linehaul for Averitt Express driving a few trips through the gorge, I ran from Charlotte NC to Knoxville TN every night through the gorge and back, pulling doubles for years. Then went back over the road in my own truck, refer trailer and my own authority for 12 years and loved it and thinking about doing it again. Well, keep the videos coming and the wheels rolling. Bye..
Like riding along, it's like being there with you. Can't drive so this is as close as I can get. You do a mighty fine job of holding on to that wheel, I'd ride with you any where. Thank you for the longer videos!!!
You can reprogram the timer for the trailer lights by starting with the lights off. Then press and hold the button for 10 seconds until the LED light indicator turns off. Press and release the button once for 20 minutes, twice for 40 minutes, 3 times for 60 minutes, and 4 times for 90 minutes. Wait 5 seconds to allow the timer to exit the programming mode. When the timer has been successfully programmed, it will flash the LED indicator a number of times corresponding to the new setting. Too bad it can't go over 90 minutes.
just came across your Channel. I love it. the Truck is beautiful. you made a comment in the video about having a camera outside of the truck so we wouldn't have to see the dashboard and hear you talking. never do that. I have 4 million miles experience driving a truck. I absolutely love it. the sound of the engine and the shifting of gears. The Jake kicking on and off. you would not experience that with the camera outside of the truck. and you can ramble all you want, that's what truckers do. lol, it was great watching your video.
I used to live in Hagerstown, MD. I know i-68, i-70, and i-81 all too well having driven a tow truck up there for 10 years. All roads have their pitfalls. You just keep being careful and the Good Lord will take care of ya!
Awesome video!!! Really like how I get to see what you see. Hate it when drivers plaster the camera right on the windshield for us to see. Makes us feel like a bug on the glass. But your videos are just AWESOME!!!!!
Truck driver here from the uk.. just done converter for weights..we run in your weight for 98000 lbs..44 tonne to us! thought you boys would be more. love your vids and your truck is proper
Im a new trucker and if its one thing I got out of your video other than loving your new truck is,,, "be the professional not the idiot and take your time develop plenty patience.... Great video to me sir!
Nice ride! I still ride along sometimes. Love the sound of that Pete! I can almost feel her work. Nice watch! I will call you Sir, but, Sir Tim not so much. Thanks for the ride along. Happy Trails!
thanks for the ride I really appreciate it this is the first of your videos I have watched and it was just perfect, I am recently retired driver due to injury and the video was like being back out there thanks again.
That's a badass truck you got there man! I was surprised how quiet the cabin actually is, and can't wait to see the trailer with all the new lights on it, it must be awesome! Take care man
I40 Asheville NC to Newport TN! First time through there was round 4am. (headed east) Had no idea how beautiful that stretch was until we came back through a week later. Nice video!
Awesome video, Sir. Makes me almost miss driving. 5 years was enough for me. And it's not ranting. Few young guys like myself appreciate the knowledge from the ones who have been out there 20 plus years on the road.
I felt like Luke Skywalker in the first Star Wars going down that shaft in the Death Star at top speed. Loved it. What a smooth ride! That rig is a beast! Can you jump to light speed next time and tell Chewy to roll with it!
One thing I can say is that at least when u say your ranting, u good sir only rant pure facts. I honestly don't think your ranting at all. The industry needs more driver like you. Stay safe out there and KEEP TRUCK'N!!!!!
I'll watch your videos forever love them I plan on getting my CDL and becoming a trucker my dad has been a trucker for 25 years and he loves it I've been in the truck with him a couple of times and love it too I'm just tired of working factory jobs and getting no we're
Mr Ghorley I miss the days of you being in the truck. I believe someday you are getting back out there in a brand new Pete 589 same or similar color scheme.
Life is Good. I've only recently started watching your videos because of my love of big trucks and when I was going westbound it caught my eye and my mind told me, "You've seen this truck and trailer with the logistics box before"! Haha
Yeah that Wheels Through Time museum is a nice place he had a TV show for a while there he is really into those old bike's out there in Maggie Valley NC
slick truck dude! I may never be a owner operator, but I am lucky enough to work for a company that mainly runs peterbilts , mine is a 04 379 short nose, bit ugly but I live that cat motor. we have one ov the first gen 389, had it stripped of the def, upgraded manifolds, it does burn through turbos but it is by far the best pulling truck we have
Steering wheel holders don't drive and own a $150,000+ truck. They work for Swift. Love the videos and scenery. An outdoor camera would be nice for occasionally getting the pretty landscapes.
Love the set up man, awesome truck. You should film some deliveries, maybe backing into spots, sliding tandems when adjusting for different weights, etc... Safe travels my friend 💪🏼
@LifeIsGood Can u do a walkthrough tour of ur rig? I haven't seen the new 2018 PB trucks yet, but it looks good from the video, I love all the traditional gauges, and it looks like you have some digital screen goin' on too in the middle??
Been on that road a few time's beautiful ride absolutely ride, only part I hate is when your pulling the kinda load you got Stuck behind someone that has to tap there brake's every 3 second's while they motor away your stuck trying to speed up again.
I have the x15 I love it but she don't like to be lugged. I read the manual and its says 1850@1000 rpms bit I keep it around 1300 then Ill down shift it pulls like a freight train around 15 to 1600
These trucks are Beautiful!!! Could say for me, case you know of course, When the Caterpillar stop supply engines for PeterBilt and kW? Or Still are there Trucks like Pete and Kw, with Caterpillar engines? And the engines used in glider kits is new or rebuild? Thanks..
I got a quistion., not about the video, should it be concerning that you-tube alows ( live-me ) adds that portray 14-17 year old little girls dance around in there underwear????
im between a columbia pre emission and a pete 379 i haul cars and go to repos and sometimes small used car dealers in narrow streets i reslly want a long nose 379 or kw900 but worried it will be tight especially that i never drove one before what you think man? cool video by the way
In this vid, you are driving down the I-40 towards Hertford. Am I correct? I couldn't find any other motorway between North Carolina and Tennessee. Looked on Google maps and I think I found the tunnel you went through. How do you know when a truck can use the left lane at the end of the restriction? Are there more instructions painted on the road? What do all those guages on your dashboard tell you, including the extra 6 on your screen? Is it overkill, or are they really useful? I didn't detect any 'rubbish' editing. Looked and sounded OK to me.
Sir Tim !!! Yes you were lucky you didn't catch a rookie at the beginning of the gouge !! Been there and it's sure a slow an agonizing ride for the trip to the 70 mph zone !!! The cost for the left lane is only $25 but the court cost and having to take the court ordered defensive driving course put the total rate at $300!!!! Bad decision for Salem,US Holland and Old Dominion!!! Listen to CB when going through the gouge!! You'll hear alot !! KEEP IT SAFE !!!!!
Just a question but just how often do you get assigned to driving I-81? It's gotta be one of the busiest truck roads in the nation if not the busiest. I only travel it one round trip every other year and I notice it's gotten busier lately.
I just can't get over how beautiful that truck and trailer combo is.
Your camera angle is the BEST!!! PLEASE don't change a thing. The rambling is cool cause makes us feel like we're having a conversation with you.
Those American trucks are so much cooler than the trucks we have here in Europe. They are fantastic even just to look at. Great video!
super video, love the truck. don't change the camera angle or position its perfect, and keep on rambling ,
I think he has the camera mounted to his head like a goPro maybe?
Keep rambling 😂 funny
I was on my bed napping, and before you new it I found my self taking a beautiful drive. In a beautiful Peterbilt... thank you so much
As an ex-trucker, I never get tired of hearing the motor purring along.
It's that"purr" that cost you a family
People tend to forget that the roads out west were designed by engineers, while the roads back east were designed by cows.

@@Mardasee Yes, a lot of the original few roads, but still a tiny fraction of today's roads. I still drive the Boston Post Rd.
damn that's one smart cow

Bill Lamb Thank you and your welcome, hopefully I can do another one soon
I'll be watching! Safe trips and a happy 4th!
The truck + trailer combo is awesome to be honest.

Al Kup wow! Thank you, I had a small Great Dane shop look at it and they no clue how to fix it
Everything, from the truck/trailer combo to the videos, just beautiful. Thanks for the ride along.

So enjoyed the gorge. You have great skill.
Great video, love the gorge and absolutely beautiful rig!
Saw your truck and trailer going down I-40 east bound in the Hickory, NC area about a month ago. Have to say that Pete is very recognizable!
Not very many with this color scheme and hopefully the only one with that particular stripe
Life is Good. I've only recently started watching your videos because of my love of big trucks and when I was going westbound it caught my eye and my mind told me, "You've seen this truck and trailer with the logistics box before"! Haha

Justin Lang That had me rolling! 😂😂
Steering wheel holders don't drive and own a $150,000+ truck. They work for Swift. Love the videos and scenery. An outdoor camera would be nice for occasionally getting the pretty landscapes.

I have a 2017 same set up 280 wheelbase . No more lights please.Unless u going to run Laredo Tx.

I love your truck so much, I dream to own either a 389 or W900 one day
I got a quistion., not about the video, should it be concerning that you-tube alows ( live-me ) adds that portray 14-17 year old little girls dance around in there underwear????

Beautiful truck, which engine has it got?
+Life is Good. Were You near Elizabeth,Kentucky Thursday Night? I was hauling concrete bearers off I-65 and saw a 389 similar to yours.
Mason Tucker I'm on vacation this week, might have been last Thursday
Life is Good. Oh Ok...Been Keeping an Eye Out lol
Looking good. Will you need to get a bigger alternator with all the extra lights?
racerxnk no not at all, led lights draw less than incandescent bulbs
Good, can't wait to see.
the ranting is good, you're teaching people things.
Maybe it’s just the night capability of the go pro, but your headlights don’t seem to give you very good visibility at night.
