    That's a beautiful rig you've got. I just recently got my CDL and got hired with a large carrier and I leave with a trainer tomorrow. I'm lucky enough to have a trainer who has 20+ years experience on the road. I've definitely enjoyed your videos. Stay safe out there

      Tad Trueman just listen and do what he or she says, as long as it's safe, his way might not always be the best way, but you have to survive the training and that's the toughest part, best wishes and safe travels.

    I don't really understand how people say they can't understand you, you speak well, I understand you perfectly. You speak fast, so do I, just means your mouth is having a hard time keeping up with your brain, it's a sign of high intelligence. I thoroughly enjoy your vids, even the "crooked camera" it's natural, looks less rigged, much more fun. Keep being who and what you are, if people can't understand that, there's a ton of "produced" videos for them to "enjoy"

Thanks for sharing that you need to have some money in the bank account for what if it breaks kind of stuff. Like you said before these things are mechanical and they will break. Just ran into your channel and gotta say, love it, your videos are very enjoyable. Don't have any troubles what so ever with your talking or accent or anything of that nature.
    New to trucking and have to say so far it's the first thing I've done in years that I am really enjoying. Get this load at this time in this place and have it at this other place at this other time.... as long as I can be safe and on time I don't hear a word from anybody, and I get paid to do it. Don't get me wrong, some days suck and I'm still nervous as heck a lot of the time but overall what more could you ask for from a job then to left alone to do it. If I have issues, questions, concerns I ask, if not I'm trusted to do it without any hassle from above.
    Only question I really have at the moment, and I'm sure it's been asked and answered in previous videos but haven't found it yet, is what type of camera are you using, the picture quality seems to be very good.

    Not a driver, but I appreciate what you do! Used to work for PACCAR in Renton, (ok, IT work) but it was always fun to go across the street and walk though with a KW being built. Never got to ride in one unfortunately. So, if you're back in Phx. or Flagstaff let me know! And BTW, I understand you perfectly. People say I have a AZ accent. Not quite sure what that is! - hasta -

      @donleamon8653 6 лет назад

      LOL! I always looked for them when I hopped on 40 from the 17. I grew up in Flag, and have our family house that I go up at least once a month to take care of. I tend to avoid going through downtown anymore due to the amount of tourists that are there, so I do the short hop over to Little America and go the 'back' way to the house. J&J were always on a mission, but I've invited them to stay at the house, (which is in downtown and kinda fun) when they start taking their van out. I had figured out who they drove for...

    1) I hear you loud and clear. 2) Pretty sure you're at jbh :))) Kiddin 3) I've been researching this field for awhile. What you say about leasing from companies is paying them to run truck - That sounds right to me. Check out Truckin' exec on youtube. He has quite a few q/a's about that topic . His opinion seems to be same as yours, too.

      Life is Good. A lot of truckers could learn a thing or two from you. My dad was a OTR trucker for 30 years and I've got the bug. These days it seems like a short career though. I'm glad you share your time with us viewers. Big Fan!

    • @Albertalorian
      @Albertalorian 7 лет назад +4

      My Dad was a regional driver (General Freight, Tandem Vans) and Fuel Hauler in the 70's and early 80's. He left when the mega carriers started showing up, and putting idiots in dispatch. My Brother and I Drive for a Canadian Mega Carrier, and the big company issues just kill it for so many people. Not to mention, the dealerships/company shops are totally incompetent, but charge damn near 200/hr to work on stuff; so the truck issues are non-stop! You are literally treated worse than a criminal in some places, and the lack of parking is making it dangerous/stressful to go into some area's. I love it tho, everyday's an adventure, and their are still some really good family owned/driver centric companies out there; but their turnover is so low (someone pretty much has to die or retire) it's impossible to get on with them.

    Good Morning, I have a few questions for you first I will just share a quick background on myself so hopefully that'll help you help me better.
    I've been out here for 21 yrs driving for various companies etc....I have no debt etc....I finally feel like I am able to become an operator.
    1. I am not a mechanic, even after all these years I am not. With that said would you recommend a long nose Pete/KW or a more Aero type of truck?
    2. I have listened to you video and heard your comments regarding bank account/emergency fund. Any idea what is the deciding factor in purchasing a truck is it personal credit? or do they finance this a different way? I'm well over the '6's"
    3. I have briefly talked with Peterbilt Steve and maybe you can also help, he had mentioned that Experience in the industry is just as important or more than credit score, is this true?
    4. What do I need in hand besides money when I go to dealer?
    5. Do I need insurance prior to going to dealer? Contract with a company? etc....can you let me know what I need prior to going to a dealer?
    6. Will the dealer provide transportation to his location? ie...Peterbilt Steve? I'm in Evansville, In.
    7. Lastly you mentioned on the video something about 2.70/mi and 2.00/mi I couldn't quite understand you however I think you were referencing the fact that if you went on your own you could maybe get to 2.70 vs the 2.00 you are getting now? Is this correct?
    I do apologize for the questions, I have learned since I was in the Marines you better ask before you do something or you may regret not asking.

    Did you consider a 2018 Volvo VNL?? Have you seen them? Same concept - new truck - no maintenance - but much better fuel millage. Don't get me wrong the classic " PETE" is beautiful but just thinking the Volvo might equal more money in the pocket. Love the vids. Thanks for doing them!!!

      Gilbert Williams I traded a Volvo 780 for this Peterbilt, yes I looked into it and this engine is what I was after, the Peterbilt was just a nice bonus, the resale value in 3 years will trump whatever fuel mileage is lost, thanks for watching.

    So I started as a mechanic at Ocoee River Transport about 6 months before it shut down and then I went to FirstFleet for 3 years as mechanic. After that I went to driving school and drove for Ozark and the slick division for my rookie year. I'd love to talk to you sometime. I don't know how to private message or I'd send you my number.

    I would like to know why you stay in trucking? I owned a fleet for 12 years. And I now want to buy a new 389 to pull a 65 ton lowboy myself. That's a 325k investment for me to make. But I hate my current job as a General Contractor and feel like otr would be much more peaceful.

    • @a_chaos_g8929
      @a_chaos_g8929 7 лет назад +1

      Depends how you define peaceful. Rude shippers/receiver/drivers/4 wheelers etc.... No sense in buying a brand new truck and trailer to get back in it. Find some customers that pay good and then get a new truck possibly and a used trailer to save some money. The best times driving for me are during the night. Start about 7pm and let it ride until 0600.... That is why I love driving. The radio, CB and a nice big rig. Nothing beats that for me. Best part of the job.

    Ok, I have tried to keep my mouth shut but I cant take it any longer. Just because someone is doing a lease purchase does NOT mean they are not an owner operator. We are just using a different avenue to buy the truck then you are. Yes, you went to a dealership to buy that truck, so unless you paid cash for that truck and do not owe anything on it, the BANK owns that truck. Not you. You are LEASING that truck from the bank until you pay it off. If you do not pay your payments every month like you are supposed to, the BANK will come get THEIR truck back.The difference between you and I are the fact that the company I got the truck through is my bank. Yes, my truck payment is a lot higher then yours is. But, I am still paying for this truck. I have a brand new truck. I can take it anywhere I want. I select my own freight. I decide where and when I want to go. I decide when I want to go home and for how long. I pay for all the insurance and taxes related to that truck. I pay for all the fuel. JUST LIKE YOU. Yes, there are many lease purchase programs out there that are a total scam. But not all of them are. Just have to do your homework. I can take MY truck to Landstar just like you if I wanted too. I hate this holier than thow attitude by some of these drivers out here.

      Dan Isaac I didn’t mean to come across with that kind of attitude, lone mountain or something like that is great, I was speaking in reference to something like Swift or prime, in my opinion that’s a racket, but you know what they say about opinions, I got mine the hard way, I worked my butt off for it.

    • @TruckerDan75

      I am doing mine through Schneider. I have been driving for 20 years now so I have earned my opinion as well. Thank you for the response!

    • @davidlackey6587
      @davidlackey6587 6 лет назад

      Dan Isaac you are not the same as owner op so many differences can’t list all you are basically a glorified company driver except you are paying off there truck for them sure it’s wrapped up like your paying them for truck but in reality for most your paying truck for them your getting dollar something a load where as we are getting two something sometimes three something that’s just a start of differences sir

    • @TruckerDan75
      @TruckerDan75 6 лет назад

      David Lackey it is a shame that you are uneducated in this issue. Yes I did get my truck through a company but it is my truck. I am responsible for all the maintenance on it. I pay for the fuel. I pay the payments. I pay the insurance. It is my name on the door. If I am unhappy with the company I am leased too I move my truck to another carrier. Yes there are some lesses out there where ther are exactly like you stated. But that is not my lease.
