Im not a huge fighting game person but when i was a teenager i used to be on the arcades watching people play, and those sound effects brought back so many memories for me
Yeah, MvC2 is awesome and superior overall, but I prefer the aesthetic experience of playing MvC1. The art compromises made to MvC2 makes it feel unfinished in many ways, whereas MvC1 is really a celebration of that legendary Capcom sprite talent cultivated through the 90s.
@CF565 The one thing I've noticed is that because they used 3D polygon backgrounds in MvC2, the sprites are easier to make out, and gameplay's easier to follow. Some of the backgrounds in MvC get a little busy, and it can get hard to stay focused on the action.
I think one of the most overlooked thing about this release is that we have our hands on a way to enjoy the OSTs of these games on modern hardware. It's such a God damn good release.
I never played MvC1 before, but the background stages being not just generic terrains and the characters having their own themes makes it feel like a bigger passion project.
its crazy to me CVS1 and MVC1 both are the superior games in terms of presentation but then the 2nd games just absolutely COOK in terms of gameplay that the original games get overlooked
The special bg changes whenever supers are active or etc is my favorite thing about this game. Everything is amazing but the experience is what makes different
I used to go to a specific arcade place (in a mall) where MvC1 was quite literally the show stealer of the whole place (at least when it came to fighting games). There were queues to play it, it was one of the few select fighting games cabinet for which I saw people queuing in line to get their rounds in. I saw that too with MK2 when it was new, along with Killer Instinct and Alpha 2. But MvC1 made people happy, never saw anyone being frustrated playing it, people in line were smiling at the apprehension of them playing it in just a moment. It was quite special. Then again, nothing will really ever beat the real 'in person' actual "Arcade Experience" of the 90s, ever. Also, I love MvC1's pixel art, amazing to look at.
My high-school had a cabinet of mvc1 in the student lounge. I remember listening to numb from Linkin park, a few years before minutes to midnight came out and playing against a guy who mained strider and venom. This game is nostalgia straight to my veins
MvC2 is my main reason for buying it but MvC 1 and Xmen Vs Street Fighter I played a lot at arcades so I'd probably play them from time to time. Others I never got to play but would be nice to experience
I’ve been having a fucking blast with this collection, me and my cousin have been playing Marvel 2 for hours, I even got my lil brother on it and he’s really into it.
Same me and my cousin have been online the whole weekend playing it. It just brings back so many good memories of playing it in the arcades. It's still a blast till this day
This was the game that introduced Strider Hiryuu to me and made me a fan (played the old Strider games because of this) and discovered the term Aerial Rave❤
I still remember going to GameStop and getting Marvel vs Capcom on PS1 years ago being disappointed that there's no tag + partner choosing and how vastly different it was compared to the arcade.
This is my favourite MvC as well. You didn't see the exact same team all the time. Sure, Wolverine and Strider were the strongest, but the rest of the characters were always picked as well.
Ok hearing you say it's a tight game and needing to hit the two attack buttons for super being strict makes me feel better. My stick skills have never been above average and was playing this earlier today and was like wtf am I struggling for supers constantly
From a spectator perspective, i find MvC1 a hell of a lot easier to keep track of what is actually happening beyond "Random Bullshit GO". Funny thing is, MvC Infinite and Beyond is kinda similar compared to MvC 3 in that respect.
The online matches have been surprisingly fun and close battles. I was worried that every online battle was going to be spammy unlimited combo type. Of course I still run into them once in a while, but it's not often.
Is incredible we can play all this games online and with rollback now in a mainstream way, for me this collection is all about MvC1, that's the one for me, but its awesome to have the other ones. I just wonder how long the game will be active, im a bit worried because not crossplay, i wonder whats the best platform to buy it? Max said trophies, is he playing on PS5?
I was watching this live. Good stuff! Sad you cut out the matches you had against that Hulk & Zangief that was a fun one and the random callouses assist going randomly in the floor. Good shit 😂 love MVC1 it has a special place in my heart. Has a certain kind of charm to it. Mvc2 is definitely cool too.
Did they try to pull of Zangief's Hyper Atomic Buster DHC/THC? (Not sure if that was the name the game gave it.) I was sad to find out that this was the last game to give Gief his own unique way to "use" his Hyper Atomic Buster as part of a team attack. It wasn't super flashy, but it did A TON of damage and showed the thoughtful care given to a character.
I’m sad I can’t play this collection until November cause I only buy physical. But when I do I hope to have a lot of fun. What are some characters from any of these games that are good for beginners?
Unfortunately, you may as well get it digital cause it'll be a box with a download code :( Edit: disregard my last statement unless you're from Europe. Sorry about that.
This last 24 hours has been like a christmas for me man. I love these games so much they are a part of my childhood and i meet a lot of cool people thru them!

The players on that arcade are people who only has a few coins to play with but damn, I have not seen any better player than those folks. The combo can string up with Strider Hiryu is insane. They can air juggle you with a 32 hit combo and reach the top of the screen that up until this day, I can't recreate it.
So can someone give me a brief summary of Strider? He’s a ninja from the past, who’s adapted to his surroundings, that can now use future technology? I know Max has stated that’s his favorite FG character but just want a quick synopsis on the red scarfed dude lol.
I still remember how to play as Roll in the arcades. Random info I've retained for like 25 years. I wear a hoodie of this game every single day, and have been for over 10 years, easily the fighting game with the most impact on me. So glad to see it with a new lease on life
The PS1 version was quite different from the arcade one from what I recall when I had it. Biggest thing other than the tag system is the complete lack of comboing supers and specials into supers, the lack of infinite assists, and the fact that meter building was lightning fast on there. It’s an adjustment, but it’s doable. Granted it was probably easier for me back then since I had access to both pretty equally.

I love the character selection screen from MvC1. The character names uses their signature font.

It's such a God damn good release.
And we needed, the ost on RUclips is 15 years old, we were lacking a good version of the soundtrack really bad.
(Aside from the fact that some of the physical copies don’t give a disc but instead a code)
I was jamming to Gambits theme for sure.
@@briansilva3765Didn't the OST have a CD release though?
THE MVC1 MUSIC IS SO GOOD. We need a new MvC but with this same chaotic and crisp feeling
AND WE NEED CAPTAIN COMMANDO
Captain SWORDDDDDDDDDD!!!
Music is one area where 2 is so much worse than 1.
I think MvSF has superb music followed by this game .
@@MistyKathrinemusic and the background fighting stages will always make MvC1 better imo
Berserker Barrage X goes hard for a super name though
And Fatal Claw as well.

Especially with the announcer's call-out:

Its one of the coolest attacks in fighting games even to this day imo
Goddamn that soundtrack!! Nostalgic.
LET'S GO, BUB!!!

I dunno nothing about history and stuff about games but there’s something comforting about watching classic fighting games
Cuz’ no one beats the classics.
Part of what makes classics special is that they are the first to do something that revolutionizes a genre.
I never played MvC1 before, but the background stages being not just generic terrains and the characters having their own themes makes it feel like a bigger passion project.
Yes and that is why 1 is better than 2 in term of art direction. 2 may have 3D stages but the stages lack anything MVC, same as music.
its crazy to me CVS1 and MVC1 both are the superior games in terms of presentation but then the 2nd games just absolutely COOK in terms of gameplay that the original games get overlooked

MvC1's presentation is top notch, and Marvel Super Heroes has beautiful animation. Capcom was on fire!
Same marvel super heroes and Mvc 1 are my favorite in the collection
MvC1 honestly might be my favorite VS. series game, more than MvC2. Love the OST and just is more fun and exciting to play to me
Do I sense some tournament parties forming? Imagine the content!
I love that you came back to the online play when it comes to MvsC1 and 2. Great stuff!
God, I forgot how fun it is to play Strider.

X-men vs Street Fighter and Marvel 1 for me
