Love the A .. been here almost 16 years .. being unapologetically black is real here .. you don't appreciate it until you've been to other cities
Thank you for your comment 💪🏾
Atlanta has a place in my heart I love the scenery, black culture and street art!
Same.
It's like the new Harlem, the new black hub
Hello I am trying to plan a move there and looking for the blest place to plant my feet at Any advice is appreciation
You hit pretty much every nail on the head - from the challenges and issues, to the pros that come with the cons, the interesting real estate market, and the arts and food scene! Yep. This is Atlanta!
Native from Atlanta here. I approve what she said. Atl has become gentrified and expensive. Only rent in that area do not purchase a home in the city. Marta is useless unless you're attending an event downtown or for work. When I visited NYC, their transit system put ours to shame. And one thing about Atlanta, there is ALWAYS something to do.
Awesome video! The passion you have for the culture definitely shines here
Love this! So many memories were brought back. These 20 min went so fast. Great job Achia! 😍😘
I absolutely loved this video!!! All the information you have for ATL was awesome. I've only driven through Atlanta going somewhere else. I may vacation there to partake in the activities and get a feel for Atlanta!! I love all the arts & culture, and accepted blackness!! Thank you!! I'll look forward to future updates!!🥰
have spent a while watching a bunch of videos about ATL lifestyle and this has been my favorite by far! No hesitation in subscribing, thanks for sharing your experience!
Thank you so much!
You're beautiful!! Love the updo! Thank you for the information this video. Minus the traffick and car break ins, Atlanta sounds amazing.
Great video! And welcome to Atlanta! I`m glad you are enjoying yourself....Lots of the Latins/Brazilians live In Marietta but for good int`l food overall Buford hwy is a good corridor.
My family and I have visited Atlanta many times and we love it there. My kids are grown so my husband and I are really considering moving there soon. Really enjoyed your video. My son is a musician and I tell him he needs to consider this place as a home.
Hello I am.also planning g a move and I am.not.from there . I a wanted to get some insight on Georgia and the best place to plant my feet at . Any advice is appreciated
This is excellent. Thank you very much for all of this valuable information about Atlanta. Very well done!
Amazing video, your delivery and detail is just what I needed
Thank you so much for this video. I am contemplating whether to move to Atlanta and your video is very helpful and informative.
Great video! I haven't been in Atlanta since I was a child many years ago. I've passed through Atlanta to get somewhere else. Sounds like there is definitely reason to stay for a while.
I've heard so much against Atlanta, I might be moving there for a job and your video has sold me especially as an arts/culture gal from Texas!
Welcome to Atlanta! Great video, I am born and raised in "Atlanta" (lol). You also do great product reviews, final subscribe today.
Thank you sis!
Great video! I love Atlanta 💖 I lived there for many years and will be moving back soon.
I loved you, this video, and all the info you gave me!!! Thank You for this!!!
Lol 🤣 I lived in "ATL" most of my childhood and I say I'm from Atlanta, but you hit it on the head when you said, "you live in a borough, not ATL".
TRUTH.
Love ATL. Soon as this election is over and we see what direction things are going, pulling trigger on condo in atl station or buckhead.
Yes! You are my type of girl! I love the arts. Atlanta seems like a good place for me, despite the concerns I have with it.
I also have to add where in the USA there isn’t any ( MAJOR GENTRIFICATION) I lived in Washington, DC and New York major gentrification smaller cities in N.C. make sure everybody hold on to Grandma house.
I truly enjoyed this video. You make more people want to come move down there and crowd it up some more loll!!
Love this...didn’t want it to end! Great energy! Can you do a top ten of your fav eateries/restos? Would love to hear your recommendations 🙌🏽
Thanks for watching! One day once I’ve eating at enough places, will do.
I'd like to see this foodie video too.
Thank for your fun & informative take on metro Atlanta. Yes we are *BLACKITY BLACK* here. On MARTA: the public transit in ATL has been stunted by design since 1970. Like most growing cities as the Black population grew, the white population ran to the suburbs. With that came fear that "the undesirables" = Black folks would ride MARTA to the 'burbs to attack them (ha). Ridiculous but that's whiteness.
Atlanta is inexpensive. Rent is reasonable in most areas. The arts are always booming in ATL. I saw Alvin Ailey Company at the Fox also, it was awesome. Thanks for propping the *Zucot Gallery* , great location of original art. Shouts to the AUC: *Morehouse, Spelman, Clark Atlanta University, Morris Brown (legacy lives), ITC* . Enjoy ATL and make this your long-term (or permanent) home.
Best video I've seen on this topic!
U are so right about the bad roads. My car has taken a beating for years driving around Atlanta
Best video i've seen so far about ATL. Can't wait to move there next year and hopefully locate the Latinx Community as well.
Gwinnett County (suburban ATL) is where Latinos are in abundance.
Definitely enjoyed this!!!
Great video...I laughed the entire time. I moved to Atlanta from NY to attend Spelman and I never left 😀 If you've never seen Ballethnic you should check them out. They did a performance at our school and it was fabulous.
Bellethnic is now on my list. Thx!
@@ALove4Me you're welcome.
I love your personality. Such a breath pf fresh air
I’m born and raised here. Raised up on Cleveland avenue. Live on camp creek now, but it’s way too saturated. Too many dreamers and wanna be celebrities living double lives, but they living in the poorest places in Atlanta. I’m honestly tired of seeing it. Especially on the southside. I work a 9-5 and make 6 figures but you won’t see me acting like I made it in Hollywood either. Watch your circle and live within your means.
Salutes to you and all native ATL people. Been here a long time after moving from the North and my staying respectful and humble has gained me great friends, connections & advice from the community. Damn right there are too many wannabe Outkast-Tyler Perry-Future etc. clones here. folks need to get their heads & plans straight before coming to ATL or the city will kick their azzez out and we won't miss 'em, I-285 is that way. #respectATL
Thanks!! 🥰
Segregation is nation-wide, nothing to do with the South. I been all over and I seen it. And most of its self-segregation ... I prefer to be around black people ... the more the merrier. Most people like to be around ppl that look like them. ATL is closest thing we have to a "Black Mecca" ... I think it's the best black city. in the world. I'm not sure why any self-loving black person wouldn't enjoy a city that heavily caters to them ... like you said Atlanta is black in all the most wonderful ways ... businesses, events, schools, neighborhoods, nightlife, etc
Thank you totally agree
Only issue black hate on black sometimes
@Sankofa Sankofa not really. It's best to have extra hustles like rideshare, food delivery or other resources of $$$. Most places are hiring more now that quarantine has become norm and we've adjusted.
From NYC, been in the A 36 years LOVE It...
Thanks so much for this video!
I love your positive feedback.
you are such a positive spirit.
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Visited twice within the last three years and I’m in the planning stages of moving there soon, so it’s good to know some of the things to look forward to. I unfortunately already know about the bad traffic.😂 btw. You are so gorgeous. Sorry, but I had to say that.😊
Ain't no sorry, she's fine!
ATL is my home 🥰 traveling right now but can’t wait to be back!
I’m from SW Atlanta and The West End, East Point, Decatur, Cascade, Cleveland/Stewart Ave, Pittsburgh, Oakland City, Summer Hill, Westview, Adamsville and the westside area of Atlanta, over by Greenbriar Mall basically the whole SW Atlanta region is full of culture and Dekalb county is full of culture too. Anywhere where there’s US, there’s culture.
That ain’t culture that’s criminal activities.
@@rickjohnson9191 lmao 🤣 that's facts tho.
Great review! Pros + Cons :)
Check out Gallery 992 in the West End on Sundays at 6pm they have live jam sessions . .
Thx!
Georgia born Georgia bread when I dial the Georgia dead. ATLANTA, Is home although living in Cleveland Ohio now. I go back home every chance I get. I can guarantee you there's not a person in Cleveland that doesn't know how much I love Atlanta! Go Dawgs! The secret of dealing with the traffic is to know all of the roads through Atlanta. You can get from the East side to the west side in less than 20 minutes.
Atlanta,GA is the best place for blacks to network and meet successful people. Enjoy the 🍱🍤🍝🍜🍺🍷🍊🍓🍉🍇
And I love that your from Florida that’s where I am coming from and considering ATL.
Just moved here from Florida too!!
@@thejulissap Hi Julie! How are you liking it? How did you find employment during these times any suggestions?
I'm planning to move there from Florida next year.
You did a nice job sis! My wife and I maybe moving there in 2021(baby boomers-semi retired)I’ve been doing my homework and I think I’ve got it nailed.Where would you suggest buying a home? We’ve lived here before about 35 years ago(Snellville) which sure has changed a lot as well as most of metro Atlanta🤔We’re leaning toward Gwinnett because of familiarity and the wife works in Stone Mountain making any commute to work less taxing.I have other areas in mind but tell me what you think. Affordable home/bang for the buck, low crime, very diverse no more 25-30 miles from downtown other than Cobb. This was the best Atlanta video I’ve seen yet. Thanks
Hi. I’m interested in knowing about the best and safe areas to live in Atlanta. Great video. From a professional prospective. Lots of videos of new Atlanta residents are from young woman who have a different reason for moving
Yeah, that is huge pet pea of mine, people always claim Atlanta and doesn't live anywhere near Atlanta
Thank you!
MARTA is fabulous...love, love the train...
Texture ID launched two new products lines...they are AWESOME for 4c coily hair and pairs well with kinky curly custard!
I have traveled to Atlanta frequently for work and I could not wait to leave. I am from Philly and it was so hard to get around.
You must be patient & focused. I'm from Philly and came here in the late 80's and been here ever since. Get your plan & disciplne together and things will manifest.
I lived in Augusta for 2 years. I traveled to ATL a few times, but it was always for a specific event or I was doing family things like Coca Cola World & MLK area. That being said, I never really just came and experienced ATL for what it is & certainly regret not experiencing the night life.
I do happen to be flying in a week from today. I'll spend a night or 2 in ATL before I drive to Augusta to see the only stylist I've had in my natural hair journey & hang out with military friends.
Looking forward to getting a glimpse at the ATL nightlife.
I've always said Atlanta is a great place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit.
I live in San Antonio, Texas. Yes, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, and South Carolina it is the deep south!
loved this
Thanks 😊
Gentrification follows the golden rule. Who ever has the gold, rules!
Stylists!!!! Yes!!!! I drive 150 miles one way to get to my stylist in ATL!!
I love museums and different cultural events
Good info
😆 "Its just so freakin' black!" I love that comment and the video. U are very positive sister and u speak well. I plan to experience atl,ga very, very soon have never been. I'm from and currently live in Miami (What a dread!)
That it most definitely is. If you LOVE your people. From the crazies to beautiful humans. Hang out if you get a chance!
What's Miami like. Im moving there in the near future.
Latin folk are practically new when it comes to Atlanta technically been around 20 25 years via Buford high way, also other international people, thanks to the Olympics
I agree with everything you said except about MARTA. Atlanta is so freakin' big, it'd be impossible for MARTA to go everywhere, but it does extend to over 70% of what folks call Atlanta. Another thing, MARTA is a life saver for getting over, under and through Atlanta traffic in much of this city. I get the feeling you didn't ride it much. Other than that, very good video and good representation of my city. Oh, and be sure to visit Savannah! It's the next best place to be in Georgia! Thank you. L
What county in Georgia did you see the musical, Hamilton? Also in terms of festivals, does the AfroPunk Festival come there (if so what county)? Lastly, what county do you reside? Currently planning on relocating there in approx 2 years from NYC.
OMG I am from Miami and I am moving to Atlanta this summer 🤣🤣
Tell it like it is!
i"ve lived in atlanta for a little more than 9 years and yes! all FACTS ...lol
Very interesting and typically TRUE! Gentrification is rampant, similar to other inner city areas that whites up until recently found undesirable. Young and middle-age whites want to return to American cities and many Black neighborhoods are in ideal locations, relative to the urban core. Visited relatives who have lived in the West End for 50 years. My Cascade Heights side of the family looked down on the West End neighborhood and called it ghetto. Not anymore. Drove over to my cousin's house and nearly got lost because of all the white neighbors today because I didn't recognize the block.
Economy: North Atlanta and the Northern suburbs are the wealthy part of town. It wasn't that long ago that the surrounding counties were virtually all white and aggressively (sometimes violently) discouraged Blacks from moving to it or staying there. I'm talking about you Forsyth County. Segregation. Yes, but it doesn't have to define your life. I have very successful relatives...old timers who are quite happy never to set foot in white neighborhoods of the Atlanta region.
Overall, I love your attitude: "apologetically Black" without the stereotypes.
There really only 4 or 5 counties in Metro Atlanta, The city, Fulton. Dekalb clayton, Cobb and Gwinnett. Over the last almost 30 years Metro Atlanta just been spread over alot...
Cool.
I'll be relocating to a BEAUTIFUL city in Georgia very soon!!!
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Cool video but I have to nitpick at 1 thing. 1. The perimeter is in the Atlanta metro area. There’s the city of Atlanta which is a little under 500,000. Than there’s the metro which is about 5 million plus. I get what you were saying though.
Hello 👋 thanks 🙏 moved to Atlanta is my dreams
Great video! I have a question though, what specific place around atlanta were you told that Latinx people were? As someone planning on moving to Atlanta soon I’d love to know where I can find my people 😂
I was told Doraville, Chamblee, Marietta
Metro Atlanta is the metropolitan area not the city.
I live in Union City now and before that I lived in College Park. My car has never been broken in and I've never had anything stolen.
Thanks for the info. Regarding your traffic comments; the traffic builds up due lack of proper infrastructure- inadequate b train and bus services that could ease the traffic build up especially in rush hours. Residents need to lobby their government to do better job of improving their infrastructure. ATL will be the fastest growing city in the next 10 years. Good weather, sunshine, affordable living. ATL is no long a big city country town. I’m. Canadian and I’m looking forward to relocating there for arts & culture and the climate.
That’s what’s attracting me too, the culture is so deep👍🏽
Love this video! I just moved as well from Florida. Looking for my Latino community girl tell me where they are, looking for some food that reminds me of home 😭
LOVE YOUR VIDS, I am planning to move to ATL in 6mo, currently work in childcare however really want to work with nonprofits, fundraising, and helping the community. If possible do you have company suggestings or good place for someone like me to start?
Check out the AFP job boards
MARTA doesn’t go everywhere. You really need a car and especially if you work in the outskirts of the city. I’m from Atlanta (native) and live in Chicago and traffic here in Chicago isn’t as bad as the traffic in Atlanta.
I'm a transplant here and I'm moving out of ga too overcrowded now and oversaturated market
I’m interested in moving to Chicago but scared. Do you mind comparing Atl with Chicago?
@@MsElfMannequin When it comes to Chicago and Atlanta?, there’s no comparison. Everything that happens down there (ATL) happens here too (CHGO) but the only difference is, the food and jobs and job security. Plus there’s plenty to do here and it’s not overcrowded/ overpopulated and people here don’t floss like they do down there.
Just watch your surroundings, don’t put yourself in a position to get robbed or carjacked and you’ll be alright. Otherwise living in Atlanta is no different than living in Chicago.
It’s the same vibe just a different dynamic.
@@michaelmathis7359 Thank you so much for your response!
As far as Chicago being a segregated city, what area are predominantly black and SAFE from your experience?
@@MsElfMannequin You’re welcome 😇 all of the west side and south side and south side suburbs are indeed predominantly black, but as far as being safe; you’re much better off living in the suburbs. Although it’s not safe there either (depending on the dynamic) but Chicago is very diverse with all walks of life and segregated but you might wanna consider the suburbs if you wanna be safe. We have public transportation (CTA, Pace, Metra) which is like MARTA (but better in my opinion) and they go everywhere. You get more for your money when it comes to the food but if you’re a smoker, be prepared to shovel out money for cigarettes 🚬
Your make up tho ❤️ beautiful natural colours. Pray tell what you're wearing on your eyes, cheeks and lips
For my eyes and cheeks I used Mented Cosmetics Clay Too Much and for my lips I use NARS Dolce Vita gloss
The diverse inter mingling is real in Georgia i came from California and my people aren’t doing great the entire San Francisco Bay Area area is segregated but here I see black and white families having dinner together in Atlanta. Aldo home prices are throwing me off I see 500lk homes in Alpharetta and also 500k homes in douglasville then I’ll see a home for 200k that’s decent it’s totally throwing me off I think it’s better to rent for awhile until you find a place you like because there are so many communities here
I like that ATL’s blackness is everywhere but hearing that it’s diverse too is a step further up. My air sign self likes diversity.
lol , yes the road.
Would you say there is ethnic diversity within the black community in ATL? I’m from the northeast where there is an abundance of representation from the diaspora (Caribbean, LatinX, Continental African, etc) and am thinking of relocating to Atlanta but am afraid that may be lacking. I know you mentioned you found the LatinX community once you asked but do you think the other communities also exist?
Yes they do, I am still learning where everyone congregates, but I am finding ATL to be quite diverse
Metro Atlanta is very diverse, particularly in Gwinnett County where you will find those representations you mentioned the most.
a@LA Ryan Facts. There are continental African, Caribbean, Afro-South American, etc. communities all over ATL, Cobb, Marietta and other areas. From auto, legal to food you'll find them.
West End used to be where all the doctors and lawyers lived. So what they’re doing now isn’t tea new. Now all the docs and lawyers live in the Cascades. Or they did when I last lived there.
Ok I grew up in Atlanta in the 90s.... I doubt there is alot of Gentrification going on.. alot of that was happening before and after the Olympics in projects
Crappy roads!? Have you been to NJ or NY. You literally loose hub caps
Think that's bad check Philly. Lost many a hubcap around the way.
Facts
And I thought roads couldn’t get any worse than Gary , Indiana 😃
Have you been to MI? Detroit? Lol
The car break in has sky rocketed in the past 3 years. That was never a thing. But lately it’s out of control.
Could you direct me to a place I can buy inexpensive black art?
*Zucot Gallery* .
@@reimourrpower9357 tyvm
I sell black art and make it commissioned
Glad i got my info from a fellow Floridian💪👑 any ATL groups to join on FB or Instagram?
You just sold me on where I will move..
Haha I literally just watched a vid saying the opposite to a lot of these points.
There are many negative vids on ATL. Those folks mostly came to Atlanta with unrealistic fantasies with no plans or discipline. Expecting to become the next Outkast-Tyler Perry-Usher-Monica-Future-Metro Boomin' etc. without hard work or sacrifice. They all can hit I-285 out of ATL as far as I'm concerned, they ain't ready.
Yes insurance it’s wild
i know this video is old but why'd you move from Florida to Atlanta?
Career move
❤️❤️
Ok. What about good Caribbean food?
Negril
Mango's on Auburn. Jamaica Mi Krazy on Spring St. in Vinings. Rodney's in Vinings. Healthful Essence in West End. Golden Crusts everywhere. There is quality Caribbean food all over ATL.
DEVONTIONAL i hollered lmbo
And I had to hold in my laugh at the event
@@ALove4Me 🥴🤭🤭 I can imagine 😅😅
If u look at atlanta history especially in transportation it's the reason traffic is so bad.. Atlanta was supposed to have more highways in the 60s but alot got voted down by citizens like the area where Freedom Parkway and Stone Mountain Freeway was originally supposed to connect and be a Interstate...but that got voted down by the white citizens at the time living on that part of Atlanta and Decatur
Hello love! I love your videos would you be open to having a cup of tea in November?
Good video being thinking about Atlanta. I have always being interested living in the east coast .California real state is just not cutting it. I cant get shit for a decent place for under $280k.
I really love how minorities are celebrated.
I know this video is about Atlanta but I’m also considering Florida as well. Since you’re from there, can you recommend some safe, affordable cities in Florida?
