Just want to say as a new player who picked the Guard as their army, that these officer training school guides are the best guides I've found to learn to play my army.
Great tip about rapid ingress - I hadn't considered it before (just getting back into warhammer after 15 years out lol). I've been running 30 riders and absolutely terrorising my local meta with them. I might drop to 20, though - my local group isn't very competitive, so ove probably been getting by on that.
Welcome back to the hobby! I know a lot of players playing horsies have settled on 2x10 as a nice sweet spot based on how much CP they tend to cost over the course of the game, but I know of players that swear by 3x10 too!
I had an idea for a list and would like to hear what you think about it. Take 30 Riders in blocks of 10 with one lead by Lord Solar. 30 Krieg riders lead by their officers in 10 man blocks. One rider commander has Death Mask. Then support it with 2 blocks of 3 Scout Sentinels, 3 sets of Field Ordnance, 3 sets of Heavy Weapons squads, and 1 Rapier Laser Destroyer to round off the points. Alternatively, drop the Rapier for Drill Commander and Grand Strategist on Rider Commanders. The last alternative is to drop the Sentinels, 1 of the heavy weapon squads, and the rapier in exchange for Canis Rex and Grand Strategist on a Rider Commander.
Just discovered your channel. Absolutely amazing deep dive! Any chance you could do similar reports on how to best use hellhounds with the recent points drops? Also what about scions vs kasrkin?
Since Rough Riders and Kasrkin both act as trade pieces and are hungry for your command points, would you say it's worth it to use both in your army? Or just pick one?
I personally find it hard to justify putting more than 3ish units of things I would want to spend Reinforcements CP on, but that's as much of a playstyle argument as a good strategy argument You CAN use a mix, 2-2 is ok, 1-1 is tough because you lose redundancy, but I'm currently playing just 2x10 Rough Riders

Thank you! This is probably my favorite comment so far, glad they're helpful to you!
Thank you for this excellent tactic video!
Great video as always Josh! I remember these guys from 5th ed and they were brutal. Glad to see the horses are still scary!
I'm so happy they're good! They're so cool!
Fantastic video! Waiting for my riders to arrive so this was a perfect watch
Perfect timing, sweet, glad to see this here
This is a great video! I just got a squad of 10 and wanted to understand tactics and techniques for using them.
What unit or concept in the Guard would you like to see next?
THE BANEBLADE (or Superheavies in general).
Hellhounds!
Rapier Laser Destroyer Battery!
Russ/Tank Commander

@Jessie_Helms hey I think I responded to a thread you made on reddit, I'm pretty busy tomorrow but I can continue the conversation more on Monday!

With reinforcements taking a nerf would you still play them?
@TheDuxbuse they're not as powerful as they used to be but you'll still see them from time to time in top level lists
