This is actually one of the only Country lessons I've watched in a few years with stuff that I didn't already know. Kudos Mr. Arlen Roth. Your style fills up a room with dynamics, more than just a bunch of notes. This takes some real understanding of sound. It's like you've studied everyone and figured what they were missing! Thanks for this awesome lesson
Arlen, you've been my teacher since the 80s. I learned about you when I bought your "Complete Electric Guitar" book, and after that I have always looked for your stuff. Even found the Hot Licks VHS tape! Thank you sir!
Well I'm not really a Country player but it's cool stuff. I do dig Skynyrd and my mama had a Hank Williams album so it's really sparked something in me. I'll definitely being getting this down. Thanks so much!
When I was a kid I used to see his name in music books .. never really followed him until all these decades later .. he gets buried for some reason .. love his style
It's a shame I don't hear Arlens name mentioned much, everyone seems to have forgotten him, a great pity because he's done a lot for the guitar teaching community, long before YT, he's a great, tasteful player too
I think Mr. Roth authored a "sound page" for Guitar Player magazine which contained some of this information. (I had the issue, think it was the early 80s). As I understand it, he got a gig out of it (can't remember who it was) because the guy was so impressed with the material. I learned a lot from that issue. Roth is a really good teacher and has a number of books and videos.
He had an amazing VHS tape of this in a lesson I purchased and lent to a friend who passed away; I felt petty to ask for it; I've scoured the internet but another copy has never been found
Awesome. Still the best all around guitarists ,guitarist. Peace.

5:26 reminds me of octopus's garden. Cool lick
My brain is melting, trying to figure out how two people gave this a thumbs-down.
some people are just idiots, they are unaware of it..
