This young man is very modest. He's a killer player and a very understandable teacher! One of the greatest on ytube.
"I'm not a country guitar specialist" then proceeds to absolutely destroy that understated comment... Love you so much brother !
I think a well rounded guitarist enjoys some of all styles. You're a humble bad-ass, Adrian.
I agree with every syllable
Absolutely
I was ignorantly against country music for a long time, but taking some time and really diving into the licks, the techniques are incredibly and undeniably cool.
There's COUNTRY and there's country so it's a semantical thing
honestly once I started playing guitar I learned to appreciate it more. pop country especially can be goofy and cringe in terms of culture/lyrically but instrumentally country can be badass
Another greatl lesson, I am struggling with the pedal steel bends, think that I might have to drop to 9 guage
Check out the solo on Mr Postman by the Carpenters .. beautifull
As mainly a rockabilly guy, hello! Traditional country licks come in so handy to spice up rockabilly lines. So thank you for the lesson!!
This is an awesome lesson, love your country playing lessons. You should have more of them!
What impresses me the most about your lessons is the amount of theory packed into them. They aren't just "here's a solo, now go memorize it"; but there's so much insight into to how and why they work. Outstanding, as always!!
There is a country guitar riff in my head that I want to put to a break in the song that I'm working on. Being not a guitarist, I can hear it in my head but I'm not sure how to do it. Then found this video, BAM! That's it, this is it. Although I didn't play it on guitar, it sounded good and that's the riffs that I'm hearing on my head. So, thank you very much to you!
I just rebuilt a Fender Telecaster and have been trying my hand at that old country twangy tone.
This is extremely helpful!
All that classic country is good all day long.
Great video Adrian all great country riffs and phrases, simple and pure but essential for all those wanting to learn classic country riffs or just enhance an existing knowledge of country motif's
Are you kidding me? Who wouldn’t want to have all these skills under the fingers? I do see bits from your other lessons-old friends, and I’m in. Great lesson.
You tone and mannerisms are perfect for teaching!! I have learned so much from you!! That’s so much for posting!!
This guy does a great job teaching country guitar
Elliot Easton is a classic example of taking country guitar and mixing it with rock and new wave. I always loved that about his style. 👍
His playing on Best Friend’s Girl is so tasty 🤌
*MORE COUNTRY* 👍🙏🏽🤠
You are the best country guitar teacher on RUclips! I’m devouring all these licks. Thanks Adrian
Great lesson Adrian. I'm a rocker out in cowboy country in western Canada and don't much like the country music genre but short little bursts like this are a LOT of fun to play. I've got a couple of your country lick lessons down and pull them out every once in a while for a change of pace and tone. And to please the cowboy hat club. Keep em coming!
Love it - fantastic. You are a great source for guitar!
Brilliant as always Many thanks.
Great licks!
Love this lesson! Keep up the great work!
After going thru thee archives of country links, he is the real deal for beginners and advanced.🙏🎼🎵
Best guitar tutor on the web. Great stuff. Thanks, Adrian.
Lots of great ideas here! Thanks!
Excellent again Adrian
Awesome lesson as always
Great lesson and you’re right, country techniques can be incorporated successfully with any style of playing and they should be an integral part. Nice job!
Great vid. Well done
really great stuff man, thanks!
just bought my first telecaster. thanks!
Love it! I’ve just changed the strings on my ‘52, so this is perfect for string stretching 😊
I've been hoping you'd do a lesson like this, in fact exactly like this, it's perfect.
Beautiful; thanks for sharing this!
Adrian you have a great format. No bs just teaching
Good stuff. Love these little licks that can be modified and fit into almost any style.
No country apologies required!
You are always a treat to watch. I like learning your stuff. but your skill level is awesome!
I love the classic country stuff too, Adrian. It sounds great
You're one of the Best teacher on YT !
☮🙏🎶
Always enjoy your tutorials, I am however basically an acoustic player but a lot of what you do is transferable. Good work.
Your channel is a gift from guitar gods!
For years I never realized how many early Beatles songs incorporated (lifted) country licks especially from Sun Carl Perkins stuff. Thank you for right away naming the key! 5:43 this is the thing i gotta really learn-these double stop riffs come from chords!
Great lesson Adrian, thank you !!!
Killer guitar playing transcends style, any style….. rock, jazz, classical, country, whatever style of music, learning things outside your comfort zone can offer insight that can be applied across style boundaries.
Another great video - many thx Adrian
Fantastic licks !! 👍🙏
So many give aways, just excellent but not surprised even a little bit. Thanks as always.
Great , a straightforward instructional video with no waffle , thankyou !
Thanks! Enjoyable. Gonna steal everything i can 👍
Love the alt. Country! Thank you!
Very very good !!
Such a cool solo! Thanks
Thanks Adrian. This is awesome.
This is great stuff!
great playing thats the real deal right there!!
Good stuff I’ve learnt loads from over the years
Thank You so Much
Great stuff👍
great lesson
Massively Brilliant mate......
You do great with country style music- really capture the feel/vibe very well. Would love a video with “low string” licks.. those honky licks and runs using the d, a, and low e strings
I would like to say this. Although I have several styles I like more than country on guitar. I wish I would have learned to become a country lead guitarist first and foremost and then branched out from there. For me personally, country soloing has taught me so much more than maybe some of those licks folks might find a bit corny... it has taught me soloing, scales and chord relation like no other style. Maybe it's just me, but that is what it has done for me. Now I see the actual chords in the scales and vice versa way better that before. Because before then, I never looked at it that way and I have been playing guitar for a long time. I'm not a shredder or master guitar player, but enjoy knowing what I know so much more now. Thank you for your lessons on the Tube and hopefully I can hit you up soon for some one on one lessons.
Thank you
That's great!
Love that Tele twang!
Thanks Adrian. Each to their own but I don't get why some guitarists have an aversion to Country & a bit of say Don Rich for example in their repertoire would be a useful for any guitarist. I had an aversion to it for a long while but always liked The Byrds, Stones & one or two others that had been influenced by it. The lights came on for me with Gram Parsons & it introduced me to a musical world that I previously hadn't known. What I'm saying to those who don't get it is don't write it off.
Love it 😊👌
You are a great instructor and i would love to see you tackle more of Stuart Adamson's work, particularly his Big Country work. He is such an underated musician and isn't really given much recognition.
Goddamn what this man has done for my guitar playing, for my life! That's why I'm patron 😜
Adrian, any chance of getting a lesson on Walk, Dont Run by the Ventures? I know you looked at Baja just last week but you nail the vibe of the surf classics every time. No pressure of course, just a suggestion. Much gratitude to you for these incredible lessons; music is the greatest gift and you've really given me so much!
Fantastic as usual mate! I now have something to keep me busy next week.👍🏼
Cheers!
Excellent👍
So good! One should always go to the classic country vocab.
Nashville will love you, Adrian
This is great! Vocabulary expanding.
Thanks!
Great playing. What's weird is I really don't care to listen to country music. But as a guitar player, I love playing it.
If it's good music and good guitar playing then it's fine with me. Thank you.
I love it,,,,,
I enjoyed this lesson! You shouldn't feel "bad" for calling the licks "cliches," because that's what they're called! Sorta like a motif that gets recalled many times during a song. But, different from a motif.
I like understanding what's going on behind the licks, it makes me a better player, cuz i choose a lick to play when it's appropriate. And, like you said, it's what you do with it, the notes you play after that matter.
Anyway, keep on! 👍 👌
Defenitly a great help for guitarted ex- students like me Adrian !
🎩⚘️Great homemade Channel .
Great lesson! I’ve watched your channel for quite a few years and ive always wondered what year your 52 tele reissue is? I love the dark Amber tint on the neck and not all American vintage 52 reissues have that going on!
Great lesson! Hard to find the tempo though. I would have loved a section where you played to a metronome or simple beat just to see where you land some of the notes in relation to a tempo.
Had a crazy negative bias against Country when I was young, but have opened up my musical taste as time goes on. Dig a lot of it now. Cliché in any style bring in a flavor that you can mix into another style.
Nice lesson, nothing wrong with a bit of country. Any chance of doing a Sierra Ferrell song? If you're not familiar with her she has done some great songs, as well as some cool country covers.
No need for disclaimers and apologies. Country picking - real country picking, is fun to play. People ask me what type of music I like. My usual reply is: "Anything from Merle Haggard to Megadeth". In other words, anything with a guitar. Those that bad-mouth country because their dad did and they think that's just what they're supposed to do are missing out on some great guitar playing! A certain Beatle was remarkably moved by Buck Owens and even covered one of his songs with much pride. Study it first, then decide if you want to join your buddies in talking smack about it.
Great
Just a short list of awesome country artists to check out ..
Billy Joe Shaver
Tom T Hall
Don Gibson
Roger Miller
Hank Williams
Willie Nelson
Waylon Jennings
Johnny Paycheck
Merle Haggard
David Allen Coe
Lefty Frizzell
Steve Earle
Townes Van Zant
Gram Parsons
Emmylou Harris
George Jones
Hank Snow
Great lesson. Now I'm going to have to buy a Telecaster.
Danny Gatton is my favorite country player...
Great lesson here though ❤
I literally have the same setup lol. vintage II into a Princeton.
Great stuff! Are you sure you’re not a country picker from down South in UK?
❤
Jimmy Bryant could play circles around most shredders. Except Guthrie Govan of course.
Pick 'n' grin, m' frin'!!
Beautiful as always. Ya you bet yer sweet patooti im stealing. How bout some Kenny Vaughn? Scary stuff, that.
Tastee Adrian!
Adrian...You got to turn that "E" string down 😄 🤣 😂
I'm American and I'm old -- so here's THE authoritative "deep truth" that doubters are missing. Some of the most sophisticated players of all time ( I'm thinking Hank Garland here) were rooted in Country. And then there's Danny Gatton. Think he is below your taste meter. And please above all consider this: The Rolling Stones embraced country. Often it was tongue in cheek ( "The Girl with the Faraway Eyes) but still it honored a legitimate American Roots genre that turned out incredible guitar playing over relative simple chords. Not unlike the blues. So that's the last word.
Totally agree. My way into country was through the Stones, Byrds and Gram Parsons. That led me to investigate some of their influences. Also, I love Danny Gatton. I don't listen to much 'guitar hero' kind of stuff but he was definitely the real deal.
@@acpg YES the Burrito Bros! Then there's Sweetheart of the Rodeo. We're on the same page bro.
Ya left out Chet Atkins...
@@johnsee7269Yes! There are so many. Chet Atkins influence on George Harrison played a bigger role in their sound than most people ( even most guitarists) realize.
Very true but I grew up trying to play like him. God's gift to the world; fine art! Michael Cleveland; the list is a long one; superb musicians!
Which fender tele are you playing in this video?
I look at Country Music as the Blues in Major Keys, arguably the easiest genre to teach a beginner player.
👍
What are pedals you use .
