    I've been registered with uship for a year now never got a single gig. Dont know if its my area but unless u severely down bid your quotes and barely make a profit you will not get a gig. I do a lot of deliveries as I own my own business and do moving to junk removals but when I go on uship it not worth it. People will quote a delivery for 5 hours worth of driving for like $125 i mean how? That does not pay gas at a Boston price of $3.37 per gallon and then tolls then your hourly rate and lets not get into maintenance cost of vehicles. Go ahead work yourself to death and burn out your vehicle for chump change.

      Some trips I make around $3k.. It seems like it only really works if you’re going really far. I travel from Florida up to Minnesota, or Florida to New York, and I can usually find 3 or 4 motorcycles paying 400-600 each, each direction.

    • @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE

      You could, you’d just have to be more open to going different places. There’s a whole section on there for moving pets. People will pay a few hundred bucks to get their dog or cat shipped which you can easily do in a sedan. Also art, occasionally pops up on the list!

    • @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE

      Well, this isnt my primary source of income, so Im not on the road constantly.. I am a photographer for a race series called Champcar, and I get out about once a month throughout the east half of the US.. But each trip, with Uship, I will average somewhere between $1000 and $3000 total, and usually spend $500 or so on gas.

    Don’t you have to be a business to do this? DOT#, commercial insurance, and Have a Motor Carrier#. Also follow DOT rules down the road like stopping at weight stations ?

    • @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE
      @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE  4 года назад +3

      Strangely, you do not. The rules for weigh stations differ in every state, but almost all start at 'commercial vehicles that weigh 10,000+lbs.' So even though my truck, trailer and car in the back weigh more than 10,000 together, my truck itself does not, and since I dont have commercial plates, the rules have never been updated to make that the case. Its kind of like how Uber worked int he beginning; until too many truckers get mad and get the laws updated, this is legit and safe.

      SPACE DESIGN WAREHOUSE Per the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), service providers are required to have Motor Carrier and DOT Numbers for the following services:
      Operating as for-hire carriers (for a fee or other compensation)
      Transporting passengers in interstate commerce
      Transporting or arranging transport for federally-regulated commodities in interstate commerce
      Interstate Hauling
      Service providers hauling for hire and crossing state lines may need an MC number, based on information provided from the FMCSA.
      Those are the guide lines for uship, and the federal government. If I’m going to take money for transport. Legally have to have a comercial vehicle no matter the weight.

    • @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE
      @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE  4 года назад +4

      @@AngelAcosta-jq3jq wow! You'd think Uship would make an effort to say those things to us when we sign up for the service and specially when we accept loads going across state lines! I DO have a DOT number because one of the companies I do work for uses my box truck on occasion, but Ive definitely never been prompted to put it into that app at any time. Thats a surprise. I know a few different people who use this app as well. I guess we better shell out for more documentation!! Thank you

    We are supposed to be sheltering in place! If you encourage people to leave their homes to travel long distances this means that they are increasing social contacts, touching potentially contaminated surfaces, and possibly even crossing State lines (per your own statement). Remember, people who engage in this "new gig money-making" scheme are not experts at minimizing physical distance, cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, wearing masks, etc. For almost all of us, the only thing we can do with competence and certainty is stay home. You said at the end of your video that "now I'm heading back to quarantine." But you were NOT in quarantine when you took off traveling to make money! Please explain if somehow I've got how this gig is the same thing as staying in "quarantine." Thanks

    • @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE
      @SPACEDESIGNWAREHOUSE  4 года назад +2

      Hi Paul.. This gig DOES increase travel, and touching potentially contaminated surfaces, however in this new reality its important to be very aware of anything you touch, and to always sanitize your hands right afterwards. As for social contact, no. I literally came into contact with zero people during this trip. I packed food with me in a cooler, and only used a credit card at gas pumps, never went inside. I of course used hand sanitizer each time after touching a gas pump. With the vehicle pick up and delivery, I use this app called Uship, where the entire deal takes place on the app, no actual contact between people. They set it up so the car I was grabbing was just waiting for me outside, and I dropped it off without seeing anyone either. This entire endeavor was MUCH safer than even a trip to the grocery store.
