What a machine that WR, exactly the same time on laps 2 and 3!
This was my first real attempt at doing a legit time trial and I went from my "beat the staff ghost" time of 1:37.8 (ish) to 1:31.037 in just a couple hours. I'm using baby daisy because I just like small characters and I won't change so...yeah lol. Ty for the videos, I'm going to start working on others as well!

Hi Bayesic! I really wanted to share this with you. Yesterday I participated in another mk tournament, and before the tournament I watched this video together with the one on cheep cheep beach and big blue, and I had to play 3 times on moo moo meadows and the beach as well! And... I won the tournament. I wouldn't have been able to win without all your advice, so thank you a lot for sharing such valuable information

Thanks for making these videos. They are really helpful and informative. Idk how much time I have saved with your strats but I know they helped me beat all the staff ghosts on 150 cc. Out of curiosity, how many hours do you have in Mario kart 8 deluxe?

Hey Bayesic, I don't know if you read the comments but if you do: what do you think of the new wr on mmm? I recently got back in the game and it seems like the majority of the current world records on 150cc are dominated by baby daisy in the buddybug (or buggybud I don't remember the name) build?
Didn't even know there was a new one lol... friggin baby strats. I've got kind of a whole rant on baby strats, but suffice it to say I don't like em. It's not just cause they're really hard and hurt my hands, tho that's definitely part of it, but mostly cause baby strats aren't really viable online, which is the main reason that I time trial / speedrun in the first place. They also usually only save like a second MAX, the exception being Cheese Land where I PB'ed by more than 2 seconds after switching.
And yeah I read every comment I get :-)
@@Bayesic Oh cool thanks for the reply!! I guess I won't be needing to learn those strats unless I eventually want to go for a wr lol (kinda funny how alberto is just going around babiefying everything)

Can you do a video on snaking? It looks like you do it in this run. My turbos don’t charge up nearly as fast I’m assuming I’m doing something wrong….
To snake properly you basically need perfect soft drifting. It accomplishes two things: 1) charges mini turbos quickly, and 2) allows you to do it without turning your kart too much
@@Bayesic any other pointers how to practice soft drifting? I’m watching the WR and it seems they charge up their mini turbos a lot faster than mine but I feel like I’m doing the same angle.
@@Bayesic do you think the kind of controller you use has an effect? I’m using a custom gamecube controller for the switch. I’ve drifting every angle, my soft drifting is okay. But my turbos just aren’t charging at fast as yours or the WR.
@@GNHawkBA23 if you’re not charging mini turbos quickly then you’re not soft drifting. IIRC GameCube controllers make it literally impossible btw so yeah definitely does make a difference haha
@@Bayesic does it really? That was just my guess. Didn’t realize the controller actually makes a difference. I’m reading the Nintendo switch Pro controller is the best.

update, time trial smashed with ease
Does hitting the trick later on the ramp in the WR run give more boost on the ground instead of in the air?
Or does the boost only start once you've landed ?
I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's partly an alignment thing and partly for chaining the boost into a mole-hill trick (I'd have to watch the runs again to be sure though)
