Awesome video, I know how much this video matters to you and i'm completely blown away from how polished it ended up being. Thank you so much for making this!
The time trials aside, being able to get all these camera angles of ribbon road shows the INSANE amount of detail and care that the devs put into making this course, both the track and the background.
@@brandoncharles4415 Tbf it was from GBA, so they needed to redo the thing from 0. Still, they didn't need to do as much as they did here, but they did it anyways because Mario Kart is a franchise put in very high regard, with not a single game on console you can say is less than very good.
I'm a bit late here, but just finished watching the video. I haven't kept up with the new records on the track since I ran it myself, so it was neat seeing the new strats people found to push the track further. Really nice job with the script/editing/etc!
you did really good work slowly building the viewer into an understanding of the track. you gave enough context to make each breakthrough meaningful, while not overwhelming those whose first introduction to this track is this video. so much so that the last run was able to speak for itself (with a little tasteful editing), and as someone who would have otherwise not understood the ingenuity, finesse, and dedication to get that run, you honestly gave me a richer perspective. among those who write speedrun wr histories, your control of structure and flow in the audiovisual format is some of (if not) the best i've seen. i hope you feel free to make videos on whatever you'd like, bc if they have the same care put into them as this video, they'll all be bangers
we still call it dlc ribbon road (drir) because of tradition. we call the new dlc tracks booster (track name) to separate the original dlc from wii u from the new one
With the Booster Course Pass changing up combos the record holder for 150cc GBA Ribbon Road is now held by the infamous Army by pace breaking with a 1:43.629 using Luigi, Teddy Buggy, Azure Roller, and Paper weight, and 200cc is yet again held by Army with a 1:17.097 using yet again Luigi, Teddy Buggy, Azure Roller and Paper Weight.
This video is a great inspiration to Mario kart players, a really in depth video showing just how much the MK8DX community works together to put everything into a run! The only issue is, is that the meta has shifted and all this hard work for World records to be beaten in the matter of a few hours after the update! Which said you may have to make another video with updates strats because of the update to the game ❤ The WR may have been beaten with the new update and I need confirmation on this.
Ribbon Road is such a neat track to look at. It’s a very straightforward track, but there are some neat things that the runners are able to do. Optimizing the red and green tracks, theorycrafting the blue. You presented it all really great too.
I don't really follow Mario Kart records, I'm more of a casual enjoyer. It's fascinating to watch the things people are able to pull off, and you did a really good job of breaking things down so someone like me can understand and follow along. Incredible job, what an amazing video.
Absolutely brilliant video, would love to see more of other track breakdowns. What is crazy to see is the detail of the track we sometimes miss. As a gamer who’s first console was the GameBoy and have been through every gen since, it’s astonishing and magical that we can play a game that looks like this on a tiny handheld. It looks like the pre rendered graphics devs would show off in the late 90’s/early 00’s . Wow!
Absolutely superb work! Despite being familiar with much of this track's strategies and history, I was enthralled the whole time. You did a wonderful job presenting every detail, not to mention the spectacular video quality. If I were you, I'd definitely consider making more videos like this in the future; it isn't often where MK8DX content reaches this level of quality, and you did a fantastic job elevating it to this.
This video got recommended to me and it's super well made :O I noticed you have a smaller channel and haven't made videos like these before, but I'd love to see more History of MK8 record vids!!
This video was very interesting to watch! I only recently got into Mario Kart world records (I even managed to get a few spots on the leaderboard), and it's fascinating watching the amount of thought that goes into these. Thanks for putting subtitles too, they were a lifesaver!
Fantastic video! Really high quality, great job!! Loved all the strat explanations too, learned some small quirks here and there I didn't know before like why the Kusaan trick works! Looking forward to a next video like this! :)
The editing and production on this is super crisp - I was shocked to see you only have 1.2k subs. You got yourself another sub, and keep up the great work!
Like documentaries of the planet Mars, the depth of an abyss or the life in Ancient Greece, these are places where I will never go but that are so fascinating to watch, and so was also this incredible video. good job. Fascinating. Thanks!
Tremendous video, very well done Pii! You should be very proud of yourself this past week - huge accomplishments with this and with your ESA Winter run. I love the filler shots you captured accompanying the story, as well as the brilliant narration throughout. It gives it all a lot of colour for the viewer. This kind of content is golden and I hope we see more of it coming from you, and from others in our communities. Also wanted to point out that 22:49 amazed me. I think this is the first I've heard of someone having to do this in a Mario Kart WR. Incredible.
Very good video ! There have been many mediocre World Record progressions as of late, its nice to see there still are new people entering this space creating outstanding content
This is one of the best world record history videos out there. The buildup and payoff at the end was perfect and the editing is top tier. Beautiful job
God damn, what a great doc. Super well paced, fantastically edited, and great storytelling. Honestly, I'm disappointed after checking your channel and not finding more, lol. Really hope you keep making these!
Thats the kind video i love, random game i dont play (anymore), random level, and a story around its speedrun (time trial here but same difference). Great editing making the whole stuff understandable even for a noob who didnt even master blue shell dodging or other "hyper blue ribon delayed MT sayajin 2" stuff ! And of course thanks and congratulation to every single player who make all of those stories possible by going tryhard mode on the tiniest part of games and making discoveries that and up turning the tables for everyone else years after realeases !
man i love how much effort youve puz into this, reminds me of the breakdown of the supermario 64 speedruns *edit* i found out the mt glider speedboost myself by just playing but combining it with motion input and forcing both input ways together is just brilliantly insane
i clicked the video by accident, best mistake i have ever made, the quality of this video is stellar and the choice of music is just stellar, really well done!
The production value is on another level for this video, can't believe you have so few subs. Also another speedrunning youtuber who's videos i will watch the moment they come out has been added to the list!
Awesome video Pii‼️ Those camera angles 🔥 I think the most shocking part about Yuta’s run is the fact that he was so fast that there seemed to be no pacelock at all from the outside looking in from a casual’s perspective. Definitely makes this track stand out among the rest.
You're good at explaining the intricacies that made a player get a wr, I would watch the history of every map if it were just like this one, this also makes me want to play around in time trials
What a great video! I knew it was going to be quality, and tried to add it to my watch later. But I misclicked and started the video... And I was unable to stop it. What wonderful work! Clearly tons of time and effort went into the research and editing of this! Subscribing right now! Oh, and I don't even own this game. Phenomenal video.
I have to make a little correction on what's seen in the video - The player めいず (Maze) was the first to use Motion Glider on Bowser's Castle!
^It is commonly called Maze Glider in Japan for those who didn’t know
@@rocbot9479 He’s a WR holder bro
its not a dlc course
Ribbon road isn't DLC right? Aldeast not for mario kart 8 deluxe
This wasn't a dlc for MK8 deluxe but for MK8... A lot of small inexactitudes friendo
Awesome video, I know how much this video matters to you and i'm completely blown away from how polished it ended up being. Thank you so much for making this!
GG pour la 5e place ! 🥳
Hey, your that one former world record holder
I still hold WR xd
@@armybidonville oh
Congratulations man!

IKR? Even though it's a retro track, Ribbon Road feels brand new in this game!

Compared to booster course pass, this DLC (wiiu DLC) had way more effort put in than booster pass

Hi
Speechless quality. Please keep making videos like these. You’re absolutely amazing :D
Omg you're the guy from the video!!!!!1!1!11!!
Hi superfx
He is kinda copying summoning salt.
you did really good work slowly building the viewer into an understanding of the track. you gave enough context to make each breakthrough meaningful, while not overwhelming those whose first introduction to this track is this video. so much so that the last run was able to speak for itself (with a little tasteful editing), and as someone who would have otherwise not understood the ingenuity, finesse, and dedication to get that run, you honestly gave me a richer perspective. among those who write speedrun wr histories, your control of structure and flow in the audiovisual format is some of (if not) the best i've seen. i hope you feel free to make videos on whatever you'd like, bc if they have the same care put into them as this video, they'll all be bangers
big agree; genuinely on par with summoning salt in regards to scripting to build viewer knowledge alongside record progress at a comfortable pace
i’m your first sub ^^
I love these speedrun documentaries of any games they are just so fascinating
@Esl Hypr! This vid gave me some good wirtual vibe love it
Need more of these style of vids
Lol out of all people I wasn't expecting to see you here
yooo
Wirtual
Hol up let em cook
This guy??
Ribbon Road isn’t actually a DLC track for Deluxe. It was however for the original Wii U version of the game
Thank you. First 5 seconds and I was already starting to doubt myself
we still call it dlc ribbon road (drir) because of tradition. we call the new dlc tracks booster (track name) to separate the original dlc from wii u from the new one
Aye when he said it's DLC I was like "no it's not" then I was like wait, I do have all the DLC, is it DLC?
This is the 3rd time I’ve seen a MK8 time trial-er do this style of video and the third time I’ve seen it work. Amazing job!
After seeing how much success Wirtual had with videos like this on Trackmania, I knew a similar format would work for Mario Kart! Great video!
Summoning salt was the person who made this format of video…if you don’t know this you have a lot of top tier videos ahead of you
@@Adam_P_Wood yeah but the thumbnail and editing style is probably inspired by Wirtual
@@emban maybe idk about that you could be right but I thought he was about the whole concept
This is much more a wirtual inspired video then Summoning salt.

1:43.489 Teddy Buggy, Azure Roller, Paper Glider with Kamek
Great video. The pacing was fluid. Great narration; voice is easy to listen to and sounds genuine. Music was put at a nice volume.
great video with great editing. i love the wide shots of the entire track you included, they look amazing :)

Why would they update the game after 5 years? (Outside of adding DLC courses of course.)

"Commonly called MT"
I've never heard anyone, in the history of mario kart, call a mini turbo "MT".
Oh no, it's an Albamy expression.
