That would just lead to cognitive dissonance. People will be aware that they exist but their behavior will be the same. ugly people will still receive 300% harsher prison sentences , stuff like that.

I was actually motivated by your channel to better myself (not by surgery), even though the media tries to convince you everyone is equally beautiful, the fact that conventionally unattractive people would be treated differently is something no amount of words can change, and being sad about it wouldn’t make anything better, so i got really motivated to change some of my bad habits and your channel helped me a lot on it.

@@pennnyy definitely but he also has to realize that people come in all shapes and sizes , and just because he doesnt look like a beauty standard doesn't mean he can't be perceived as beautiful by others. qoves is just explaining the OBJECTIVE aspects of beauty.
Honestly your blunt way of explaining things to others actually helps out unlike those generic beauty videos talking about the same thing on RUclips. You care enough to actually help out people in the best way possible using your tough love delivery will help motivate others and It did to me too. Earlier this year I gained a lot more weight and I felt bad about myself even my family noticed it but after watching one of your videos I decided screw it and i'm gonna do my best to lose weight and go back to the way I was before and so far its working.
@horriblewolfgamer Thanks lots. My realistic goal for my weight loss is to get to 18% (i'm likely currently at 20-22%) and I actually look quite good in that body fat percentage surprisingly, guessing good bone structure comes in handy cause both my parents have pot bellies but manage to have great facial structure. So far I feel much happier than I did earlier this year and I'm gonna keep going at this.
Real world is blunt. People may sugarcoat everything when speaking, but they'll not sugarcoat their actions and affection (lack thereof) towards unappealing people. Delivering the truth like this channel gives many people a chance to realize there's something wrong, and maybe fix it, or accept it.
Honestly if anything your channel has made me feel better about my appearance. I don't fit into today's super narrow, trendy social-media-era beauty standards, but you've shown me that I still fit into many of the average/healthy objective beauty standards in more ways than I expected. Is my face scientifically perfect? Of course not. But it's fairly balanced, and being aware of that keeps my confidence up even when I'm scrolling through Instagram and seeing beautiful faces that look different from mine.
A problem a lot of people seem to have is that they can't match ''accepting'' yourself with the idea that you are not perfect. If you are perfect there is nothing to accept. Acceptance is knowing your imperfections, knowing what you can and can't do about them and not feeling bad about it. You can accept yourself and self improve/know you can self improve.
Yeah... Body acceptance should be about accepting yourself as you are- not necessarily expecting society to do the same but the more people who engage in body pos/acceptance, hopefully the better society will become at that
The objectivity of this channel has helped me normalized my self-image and appreciate features I've overlooked. You've always made it very clear that people who fit ideals are outliers. The world is filled with triggers, but we must be accountable for ourselves and set boundaries. I say this as someone who's in the same position as OP.
Is it objective? I don’t think you can even objectively say if someone has too small lips considering the racial differences so I think it’s pretty subjective
Why is the burden of proof for this channel so much higher than for other beauty channels who give (at best) their opinions on beauty standards and pass it off as fact? E.g. "THIS Is why you're ugly..." with absolutely 0 evidence other than one personal experience (sample size of 1), but a sample size of 200 is not enough for QOVES.
Think it’s mainly because in most of your videos you’re really straightforward and with that you have kind of a pale tone to your voice which i guess increases the effect a little(of being more straightforward). But the thing is that this is what makes your channel so good at covering topics about beauty. No forced compliments, no fear of being “canceled” etc. So imo just keep doing what you’re doing and don’t listen to these but hurt people. Though ignoring the criticism completely would effect the channel in a bad way so i guess try to improve on the stuff but just don’t lose the main charm of the channel.
@QOVES Studio I believe its because youre literally indirectly insulting most of people as most of us are average / ugly / not fall into the beauty standard PLUS every single one of us has an insecurity. People get offended and angry and dont believe the facts because they dont want to believe that they are ugly. Looks are a really sensitive topic with Instagram existing and unrealistic standards / filters out there. Im not sure why its strange to you, as someone whos been studying psychology for years this doesnt surprise me at all.
Just my 2 cents. I think a factor could be since your videos are backed by studies/facts, it's harder to process the information to fit one's narrative (oftentimes done for self-preservation). Opinion-based info are easier to disregard/accept depending on how a person wants to feel good about himself. People act out of emotions most of the time so when presented with objective data delivered bluntly, the truth becomes more hurtful.
It's because nowadays people are fed fake positivity on social media like people constantly praising and telling them they're beautiful so when they come in contact with your videos Wich are backed up with evidence they cannot lie to themselves anymore so they are forced to face reality and they hate it
my respect for you and loves just skyrocketed, plus your bluntness and the fact that you are straightforward are my favourites things about your videos. That and the fact that you always manage to give facts while giving many point of views, plus you are very inclusive. Feeling offended by what you guys present shouldn't be a reason to discredit your works. You guys manage to explain how beauty and attractiveness work in a pretty objective point of view without romanticising it, if someone ends up feeling offended I kinda feel like it's their problem, not yours. It's not like you are just telling people that they're ugly or that it's their fault. Please don't let insecure people change your content in any way.
Please don't change. If they reditor finds your videos triggering then they definitely should not be watching your videos. It's their responsibility to create a safe space for themselves, both online and offline. The world can not and should not change to suit them. No one is obliged to do so. It's selfish and selfish centered to expect this of others. You have done nothing wrong.
@@cat3584 Reality is that people historically and will forever judge based on looks and how attractive you are will heavily influence your quality of life and nearly determine your dating and social life for most people.
Wow I posted on your sub the other day expressing the exact opposite feeling. TLDR I’ve struggled with body dysmorphia my entire life and watching your videos has helped me realize I’m just a normal looking person, not a sewer blob!
Don’t fold! These videos are clutch! As a woman I’ve found the courage to not fall into the fake cheerleading “you’re a 10!” ladies do. So thank you for that😌
Please stay the same. I love your no bullshit approach, don't become less direct because some people get offended. Your approach is descripctive about things that are, usually, very superficial. So thank you very much for this channel.
"Better to get hurt by the truth than comforted with a lie." I like this quote, but I feel like a lot of people out there would prefer the exact opposite. Easy, comforting lies feel much nicer than the harshness of reality. Sometimes it goes so far that I feel like there's a culture war against the mere existence of an objective reality, with people protesting the fact that not everything will bend over backwards to make them feel good at all times. For my part, I appreciate the blunt and realistic phrasing you use, and how you back it all up with scientific studies rather than streams of feel-good jargon. I'd also assume that most of your steady viewers are people who have made peace with reality, and understand that we can be loved, valued, and respected for traits other than perfect jawlines or how smooth our skin texture is. Don't let yourself get cancelled by people who prefer comforting lies over truth.
"a culture war against the mere existence of an objective reality, with people protesting the fact that not everything will bend over backwards to make them feel good at all times" - this is so profoundly true jesus christ
BDD is very debilitating, we should take it seriously and not be condescending to those suffering from it. Managing your triggers is key with many conditions. But I think a good comparision is people with eating disorders. Some content can trigger them, like mukbangs or fitness, but its not the content creators fault. They did nothing wrong by counting their calories or eating 15 cheeseburgers. It just happens to not be the right kind of content for their journey. *typo
Your channel makes me feel more okay with my appearance. Understanding beauty in an objective focus (rather than a subjective one) made me realize there's nothing inherently wrong or "bad" with being low in attractiveness.
I'm an artist and I love your channel. It has actually helped me a lot understanding what makes a face look beautiful, how a face is structured and traits that make a face look a certain way. I think it solidified a lot of the knowledge I already had and made it easier for me to use in my artwork.
I wanna ask u something, since u are an artist u must have a better understanding on this topic. Does the distance between our eyes do change our looks? I have noticed this when I draw faces, and I'm quite fascinated by it.
Yes change. Wide set eyes can make a person looks cute, but it can also make someone looks cold. Close set eyes makes someonelooks mature @@savage_girl_07
I did a Quoves report BEFORE I did any plastic surgeries. Their feedback helped me prioritize what would benefit me from changing the most. One of the most prominent suggestions was weight loss. Which is both accurate and not surgery. I completely appreciated the feedback to confirm where I was coming up short in a scientific way before going into a surgeons office who may have suggested things I don’t need.
I absolutely love the science perspective of your channel. It is not only informative but directive for us to know what we can work on and what we are to accept and accentuate/deaccentuate. The reality of the world is harsh. Majority of people cannot accept it. Thank you so much to you and the QOVES Team for continuing to produce this amazing content.
You're such a based guy qoves, I love your videos, even though I've learnt that I'm far from beautiful, I'm incredibly grateful for every bit of knowledge I get to improve what I've got. The videos are informative, helpful and disillusioning. Which some people can't take and others see as an opportunity.
Please continue making videos in the same way you have been. It’s informational and some of the only easily accessible content on the topic of facial aesthetics. Some people will naturally not be able to handle the straightforward delivery but it’s something the rest of us need.
Quoves actually made me realize I’m a lot more attractive than I thought 😅 I was so set on trying to be a “pretty” man instead of what I am: masculine. I thought I was ugly for the longest time because I wasn’t seeing the type of attractiveness around me that I myself had. Needless to say I’ve learned enough to know that I’m a lot more attractive than I think. People pay lots of money to have my nose. People pay lots of money to have full lips like me, and my Cupid’s bow shape! People would pay lots of money to have such defined facial features like me! Or my eyes… etc… Thank you Qoves, for making me realize I’m not ugly. I just wasn’t looking in the right places. I appreciate you! And so many other do too. Thank you.
When I first started watching your content I felt really bad myself and start looking in the mirror and analyzing my face, but at the end with the time I just accept who I am, it's okay not to be beautiful, I just focus on what I can improve and I keep watching the channel even if it hurts me a bit, but is good information and well explained, is just beauty is a sensitive thing and talking about beauty objectively is hard. And you don't choose what's the beauty standards or why people treats you better is you're attractive, that's just how it works
I always knew I wasn't very attractive, nor very unattractive. Your channel just helps me pinpoint exactly why. Unlike the "why you feel ugly" type of videos, which function more as poetry about loving yourself. rather than science. And because I know why I'm the way I am, I can do something about it. Of course fixing the shape of my eyes is not gonna happen any time soon, but, I can put effort in a dozen other things that contribute to my attractiveness. And I know what those other things are, and I know what to do to improve them _because_ of this channel.
This channel has actually significantly improved my dysmorphia. I can understand that the info can be very off putting but I’m very grateful for it. I think people aren’t quite ready for a science-based understanding of beauty bc we have grown so used to “beauty is personal” perspective. Qoves feels exclusive bc of that even though the information is dedicated to and for EVERYONE to improve themselves. It’s the unwillingness to accept beauty isn’t entirely subjective and certain traits truly are universally attractive in an era where people are rejecting conventional thoughts and promoting subjective inclusivity.
@@youraveragepasser-by7367 and also, alot of attractive people have flaws too ( according to qoves in many videos like the Johnny Depp one ) And that you can still be attractive with some flaws
I used to have something like body dysmorphia as a teen, I was obsessed. This channel was the resource I was looking for to understand aesthetics and truly understand beauty. Because I understand facial aesthetics, I feel less insecure and can truly assess my looks. I am fine with it.
Qoves elevated my beauty standards thanks to all the research he made. I think Qoves content should stimulate all those who don't feel ok with their appearance.
Your page actually helps me with this. I always felt just plain ugly. Like everyone had a pretty muscle they could move at will, but it was void from my body. And people who say “everyone is beautiful, you’re beautiful” just made it worse. I knew very well I was ugly, and I hated that apparently that was such a bad thing that everyone lied about it. So concrete science showing what makes us pretty, helps me detach myself from my missing pretty muscle. The fact that there’s a science about it, and that everyone here is ok to admit certain things are less aesthetically attractive helped immensely. Finally I found a place where we didn’t have to lie, and we could just learn about why some people are aesthetically attractive. I also grew into my own features, and can pinpoint exactly what changed and how it affected me (more severe angles in my neck/jaw)
i used to avoid your videos bc i assumed they were toxic and would just crush my self esteem. i'm so glad i finally started watching your channel - the way you talk about looks has eased my anxiety like nothing else has. the "everyone is beautiful" rhetoric really is poisonius. it doesn't change the fact that you're treated differently, and it's as if being below average attractiveness is this huge elefant in the room that everyone refuses to acknowledge. and not only that but even in the privacy of my mind i felt pressured to believe i am beautiful no matter what, even when my appearance or the way people treated me because of it had caused me discomfort. "everyone is beautiful" only emphasizes the idea that your worth as a person is defined by your appearance, otherwise why would ugly be such an insult? it is so freeing to finally hear someone talk openly and respectfully about these issues. i became motivated to work on my looks, finally not out of a feeling of inferiority but because it is simply to my advantage. i feel like i finally have license to feel frustrated about my looks or about how people react to them, without connecting all of that to my sense of worth as a human being.
Hey dude! Just wanted to say that your channel is actually GOOD for the mental health of the people who come here with the right mindset. I feel at PEACE with my own looks when I watch your videos, even when you talk about the parts of my face/body that don't fit the beauty standards. I'm just like "oh wow, now I understand this and that". The thing is: people have to realise that the burden of mental health rests ON THEM. Yes, there can be external factors that make your inner demons stronger, but this person should first seek professional help for their mental health problems before attempting to fix their external appearance with the help of channel like yours, because that's tackling the problem in the wrong order. I watch these videos because they are ones of the few that spill it like it is. As someone who watches a lot of beauty and makeup videos where the "everyone is beautiful" mantra is chanted all the time, only QOVES gives me my healthy dose of reality check. It's a much needed brain reset. So yeah, you are not responsible for the mindset and the other mental problems of the people who watch these videos. If they find the content here triggering, that's perfectly valid, but THEY should avoid your channel, then. You shouldn't have to censor yourself because of them. But they can't help but coming back for more just like an addict can't help but go back to their drug and hate it after consuming it. There is a certain category of people who will never be able to take in your content the correct, healthy way, but it's their responsibility to avoid it if they have underlying issues that can skew their understanding of what you say. So really, don't take it to heart too much. Keep doing what you do. The rest of us appreciate your hard work.
They have the same effect for me! I like being reassured with science and psychology rather than taking random beauty gurus opinions who likely don’t regularly leave their homes.
This channel actually helped me identify and approach attractiveness in a more logical way, than with feelings. and these videos actually helped me Identify my strengths and weaknesses when it comes to looks, and knowing the how and why really helps me with my self image. I love this channel

@@hundvd_7 Exactly, Qoves' niche is "What is beauty" not "How to attain beauty" even if they may have some of the latter. If they wanted tips on how to better their looks then Qoves is definitely not the niche channel for that.
I’ve been binging your videos (I also love the name QOVES), and I do think that we (the viewers) have to take responsibility for our own mental health and know the potential consequences of consuming this type of content, especially if you KNOW you’re prone to degrading yourself. I personally love the in-depth analysis and detailed description of all the topics, and how the information is presented in an entertaining way! Keep it up guys!
I love your videos. I’m a cosmetologist and have always intuitively had an ability to analyze facial geometry well, for better (integrating that into my career path) or worse (being painfully aware of my own flaws). I could watch your videos and allow myself to spiral over the content, but instead I use it to guide aesthetic decision making. There is A LOT you can do to change the appearance of the face without surgery: make up, hair cuts/styles, color or fashion choices, emphasizing one feature to distract from a less desirable one… and having the education to understand why we find certain traits attractive or unattractive helps to better inform choices we can make to feel good about how we look.
When it comes to one's looks, it's always a balancing act. There's what people around you tell you, there's how you're treated by strangers, there's the celebrity/social media world and there's the science. All those lead to the biggest influencing factor: how you see yourself. I've always felt very flawed and the older I got, the more focused I became on those flaws. Friends and family told me I was being ridiculous and they thought I was beautiful, while strangers treated me like I was invisible. Then there was Qoves with the sciency blunt approach, which I actually appreciated. I had the facial analysis report done and it confirmed the flaws, sometimes in that very blunt way we see in the videos. Instead of feeling worse, I felt vindicated in a way. I could turn to all those people saying I was imagining things and go: "See? Scientific evidence!" I do understand this guy's take; at the end of the day we all take in this information differently and when something has become a compulsion it's extremely hard to "just" not watch.
i actually really like the bluntness of your delivery, the immense information with statics and studies/ researches to back it up. I am studying dentistry in my final years and it really helps. But i feel as if even though I weren't in this line of study I wouldn't still mind how the information is delivered. its easy to understand and it explains a lot. Im not hurt if you tell me "this is unattractive" on a characteristic that I also have because I know you're not targeting me or embarrassing me. Id rather you keep doing what you want how you want.
i think what people dont realise is that being a 1/10 doesn't mean you don't have value, or should be treated like shit. i think that might be where part of the offense is from.
I never thought your content worsened my BDD.. i always thought it gave me hope and told me what to do in order to help my bdd. Now i’ve taken some steps to look better and i’m more confident than ever.
This is basically Woke-ism vs Common Sense. The basic premise of Woke-ism is justice for all, everyone is beautiful in all shapes and sizes. The basic premise of Common Sense is there are specific features that characterize realistic aspects of life. Beauty does not come in all shapes and sizes, because beauty is (at least for a large part) the end result of what's evolutionarily beneficial. Being 400 lbs morbidly obese makes you highly susceptible to being killed in the wild by predators, and so cannot pass on your genes. Being say, 200 lbs, muscular, lean, agile makes you highly effective in both escaping predators as well as hunting for foods, and so can pass on your genes. In the end, this athletic look ends up being indicative of what actually matters for survival, and is sought after, for the most part during the past millions of years of human evolution. Same thing with the face. A functional jawline is a beautiful jawline. People don't necessarily have to have perfectly forward growing jaw, with the jaw angle at a perfect 90 degrees, but the variations must stay within a certain "functional" range to indicate beauty. Say, too much downward growth, maxilla melted downward, teeth all crooked, misaligned jaw, etc = non-functional = not beautiful.
@@Mariahmariahmariah3 What do you mean by "that"? If you're referring to Woke-ism, what the complaining redditors represent, then yea, that is indeed toxic positivity.
I have my fair share of body image issues/insecurities, each with their own triggers. This channel isn't one of them. I come to this channel because I find the scientific studies behind aesthetic theory interesting, not because I'm trying to beat myself up.
idk i think people by and large just don’t get the difference between objective beauty standards, modeling beauty standards, and subjective/intrapersonal beauty standards
Please continue doing what you are doing. Unfiltered, blunt, and objective delivery of facts may seem harsh to some, but is seemingly the most efficient way to carry the truth across.
Why cant we just accept that some people are jus not attractive as others? Acknowledging the truth isnt cruel, isnt harmful, unless you would much prefer living a lie!
And if people had more of that mindset, it would make people care about personality more, which would make people work on them inner selves more rather than their external selves, and at the same time help their external selves in the process
-Starts off by explaining the main criticism they get is that their channel promotes facial dysmorphia or dysphoria -say that this is a very negative way of looking at the world because it implies that there is nothing you can do about it. They provides ‘solutions’ and very few have to do with surgery [for a science channel, they sure don’t understand mental illness, do they] -then goes on to break-down the post and argument starting with identifying what they interpret as the issues: blunt delivery and doesn’t align with OP’s idea of beauty -focuses on language OP highlighted and went on to refute those -basically, spends a lot of time saying that there are 'functional links' between facial aesthetics and health and that a beautiful face is a healthy face. -says that they didn’t invent beauty standards, but people will treat you differently because of them and that’s not his fault [I haven’t watched their channel in ages but I don’t remember their videos focusing on health problems or the ‘functional’ aspect of beauty, but more on what is considered attractive, such as the canthal tilt of the eyes, the importance of the thirds of a face, what makes a celebrity face attractive] -admits some beauty standards should be changed -discusses cultural subjective standards vs objective biological standards -Asks, “How do you separate humans from lesser primates?” -uses example of a cyclops vs human and how we would use ‘two eyes’ as a barometer for humanness -where do you draw that line? “We all know where that line exists but all I’m doing is I’m trying to fine-tune, with each video, to understand where that line exists.” -they don’t talk about treatments or surgeries because “in many cases, the treatments or surgeries people need are due to some sort of physical deformity such as a deviated septum, a prognathic jaw, in which case you get jaw surgery…[in most cases a septum is deviated internally, so this surgery won’t typically change the shape of the nose unless the deviation is external]” -talks about how there are 10 videos on how to style your hair on the channel, 3 videos about optimal beard lengths, 4 videos on fashion and styling -says very few videos are actually about surgery and that he is usually against surgery and only recommends it if ‘there is actually something bad’ -says [in a patronizing tone] that he also wishes we could live in a world where people valued natural beauty but that ‘reality doesn’t work like that’ -says that this channel isn’t for people who don’t want to hear about the conventional standards of beauty and then goes on to say that you can’t escape them and that they’re everywhere [we're not watching them so why is he so pressed] -brings up the one video they have about unconventional beauty and then goes on to say that OP is trying to frame QOVES in a ‘very negative light’ and doesn’t understand “what this channel is really about, who I am and what I talk about” -addresses comment on how they focus only on physical beauty-> refers to podcast and shows on-screen a list of titles relating to how someone smells, sounds, tattoos and attractiveness [ aren’t these also physical? Inner beauty is about someone’s personality] -“nobody listens to the podcast episodes, but what can I do?” [post them on RUclips where you already have a following? Why would someone avoiding your channel go out of their way to listen to your podcast?] -talks about their team and all their qualifications and how they’ve been on mainstream media, -shows a bunch of female-led RUclips channels that talk about beauty standards and how influencers make people feel worse about themselves ‘You’ll listen to people with a lot less, and you’ll listen to a lot more, if they support your worldview’ -addressed comment about cherry-picking research and explains this using sample size vs effect size and statistical power -says that they can have a small sample size and if they find something significant in that small sample, it should be investigated at a much larger size. If they look into a large group, they will find too many trends [so why aren’t they using more than one study to support the same fact in order to ensure that the original study is valid?] -when they use small sample size studies, they are using more science than any other aesthetics RUclips channel out there who doesn’t quote studies [doesn’t mean they’re using good, or even accurate studies] -says it’s not about QOVES as a content creator, but about ‘QOVES making more money than I do’ [pulling the old ‘they’re just jealous’ argument when you run out of things to say] -goes on a rant about how long the report they offer is, how much effort goes into it, etc. [Check out this looks maxxing subreddit’s take on why their report is unhelpful] [The next part is extremely heartless and shows who QOVES really is, imo.] -“it is a shame that my channel has contributed to worsening his body dysmorphia, but at the same time it’s hard to feel too bad for him because he did get what he asked for from the video because it’s not like the videos left him unsatisfied. His words, not mine.” -talks about how these are the uncomfortable truths of life and ‘don’t shoot the messenger’ -keeps referencing jaw example -talks about why he takes these criticisms personally and says that it’s because people often “resort to name-calling and very generalized statements without doing any of the work to inform a logical argument” -talks about how reddit is an echo chamber - Reddit user: No_Application2819
I feel like these videos are super helpful personally. Attractiveness is not the be all and end all of life but it’s also something we can work on and improve at. People who hate self improvement are weird, like why would you not want to be the best version of yourself as you could? It’s also great to accept yourself with your flaws and all and still be happy, doesn’t mean it’s not great to try your best to be your best.
I understand where he comes from since at first I had the same reaction to your videos, but exploring what was it that I find triggering about them and what that said about the perception I had of myself actually helped me gain confidence in the way I look and gave me some sort of power in knowing that there are certain things I can change and some that I can't, and that's ok.
Rather have hard truths than soft lies. Most the criticism wasn’t really valid imo, the study critique was the only one that has some ground to stand on and even that was addressed.
Thank you for your discussion of the difference between subjective and objective beauty. People always think that cultural beauty standards are the same thing as objective beauty, especially the people on the QOVES subreddit. That sub is brimming with people with a poor grasp on the material, and they are the ones who have the most to say.
Maximize your looks. That's what I get from your channel. If people think they deserve the attention of a conventionally beautiful persons just because they are human. They are the problem. There is a reason advertising looks for a specific look.
Your videos always make me feel better knowing that beauty can be as subjective as it is formulaic (as you present both conventional and unconventional beauty) and I love the fact that you mention how beauty (like most things) is a bell curve. Not everyone can be smoking hot or even physically attractive and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
I’ll be honest; I understand where the Reddit OP is coming from. Watching this channel has not only made me more aware but more critical of my appearance, and I’m definitely more insecure than I started out. I don’t think that’s been your intention, but I’m generally considered attractive and I receive a lot of attention for my looks, yet now I still feel I’m somehow undeserving of that or that I’m not doing enough to reach my potential. It’s a little distressing.
Yea same with me I don’t think I’m attractive and I don’t go around saying my insecurities out loud but I’ve been always compliments on my looks all my life till now . But I don’t view myself as attractive idk.
Rule 1: remember that you hardly pay attention to how people look, and if someone looks attractive to you it's never one specific trait or feature. Rule 2: remember that other people hardly pay attention to how you look, and if someone finds you attractive it's never one specific trait or feature. Rule 3: if you feel healthy and happy it doesn't matter how you look. Rule 4: pay attention to who you are on the inside and be emotionally attractive through your words and actions.
@Sad officier K Actually what you said is doomer bs, I know multiple people who are super ugly or even actual burn victims with disfigured faces. They have attractive and loving partners and they're very happy. It's not about how you look, it's about what's in your mind.
@Sad officier K Most people you interact with are average looking or uglier. You work with them, make friends with them and date them. How are they invisible? If I only interacted with good looking people I'd have to ignore all of my lab-mates and cut ties with most of my family.
@Sad officier K Of course they do. Average looking and ugly people get married and have families. If only beautiful people had children, it would have been a natural selection process that would result in most of the children being, statistically, good looking. Which is obviously not the case.
There is also too much emphasis on ideal features - this idealized eye feature or cheek feature, etc. It’s often the people who deviate from idealization in certain ways who are the most standout attractive.
i actually love how you word your videos. ur videos helped me appreciate people's beauty more actually. and it also helped me improve my lifestyle. so the people who feel like this just need to control what they can access and watch on the internet...
I enjoy this channel and here’s why: The challenge for us viewers is to implement viable solutions and strive to be the best version of ourselves. We won’t change the way people perceive us, but we shouldn’t let that affect the pride we can take in our progress and our journey to be better everyday.
Beauty is ofcourse objective and subjective, but I think many often overlook the spiritual aspect of beauty. It reminds me of what Roald Dahl wrote on beauty - that thoughts and the energy one exudes can also shape your appearance, not dissimilar to how genetics act. Goodness begets beauty, evil begets ugliness. You are a product of all the things that make you up, body AND soul.
Maybe I’m too blunt here, but a person clinically diagnosed with Body Dismorphia has no business watching videos like yours. Just like an alcoholic has no business wandering around a liquor store.
Your no bullshit approach is the only thing that keeps me watching these people have been so coddled they think they have body dysmorphia because they're uglier than they thought they were
Little buddy got his feelings hurt and went on and cried about it, It's quite sad to see but also Ironic since his points are so avoidable by just clicking off your channel.
Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent. Also, the way the Redditor wrote how easily his self worth swayed by your analysis tells a lot about him and the power of belief he has in you.
Im not really into beauty/styling/fashion stuff, the only channel that is related to those to which Im subscribed to, is this channel, continue the great work
From my pov, Qoves helps me be the better version of myself. Having a good skincare routine and wearing sunscreen, maintaining a good body weight, learning to style my hair and body....those things really make a difference!!
Just recently discovered your channel. While I do see where the commentator is coming from, I believe you do much more good and point out very important things to help us improve our lives. A side note, could you make a video as to why many girls and women are attracted to men with more feminine features rather than masculine ones? Or faces with a mix of the two but that lean more feminine?
Honestly, I don’t understand people that watch this channel and then complain about it. It’s wonderfully informative about the deeper layers of what makes humans consider each other beautiful. If it offends you, there is a simple solution: just don’t watch it.
If were seeing this, can we then collective stop saying stuff like "suicide fuel" or "thank you for telling me why I'm ugly in science". It's honestly old and annoying, like kindly grow up. Nobody debates that we all prefer soft, healthy, smooth hair & skin. As opposed to the opposite. It's like forcing people to be so attacted to dry brittle hair because some people have it. Or someone with a visible genetic disorder might turn us off because we're subciously aware that their children might inherit the danger. The alternative to this evolutionary bias is just "personality and love". We would have been dead as species as pre-programmed selectiveness works in our best interests. This is why (most of us) aren't attracted to children, animals or our relatives. We can thank evolution for not wanting to sleep with our pets. One of the most basic principles of evolution is, if it's there, it's for a reason. The alternative is 1000x worse.
find someone who loves the way you look and it will all go away. I thought i was a solid 0/10 because i have acne, not a very strong jawline and long ish messy hair but she made me focus on my good features
I really enjoy how you present factual information, you don't really sugar-coat things, you present the studies and talk about the things as they are. I don't see any problem with you not showing your face. Actually, showing your face could introduce more biasty, for example some people could start rejecting the information because they might think you don't fit the beauty standarts you present. Your content brings a lot of value to me and many others, please keep doing what you're doing.

The irony is that the only way to abolish conventional beauty standards is to know what they are in the first place.

Reality isn't kind. Truth cannot make everyone feel good.
You've done well to give balanced information.

@@planckismus It’s objective as it can be.
@QOVES Studio
I believe its because youre literally indirectly insulting most of people as most of us are average / ugly / not fall into the beauty standard PLUS every single one of us has an insecurity.
People act out of emotions most of the time so when presented with objective data delivered bluntly, the truth becomes more hurtful.
love you qoves
"Better to get hurt by the truth than comforted with a lie."
I like this quote, but I feel like a lot of people out there would prefer the exact opposite.

BDD is very debilitating, we should take it seriously and not be condescending to those suffering from it. Managing your triggers is key with many conditions. They did nothing wrong by counting their calories or eating 15 cheeseburgers. It just happens to not be the right kind of content for their journey.

Or my eyes… etc…
Thank you Qoves, for making me realize I’m not ugly.

It’s the unwillingness to accept beauty isn’t entirely subjective and certain traits truly are universally attractive in an era where people are rejecting conventional thoughts and promoting subjective inclusivity.

I’ve learnt a lot about looks and have improved my looks (and outlook) from your videos. Please don’t stop
i used to avoid your videos bc i assumed they were toxic and would just crush my self esteem. i'm so glad i finally started watching your channel - the way you talk about looks has eased my anxiety like nothing else has. the "everyone is beautiful" rhetoric really is poisonius. it doesn't change the fact that you're treated differently, and it's as if being below average attractiveness is this huge elefant in the room that everyone refuses to acknowledge. and not only that but even in the privacy of my mind i felt pressured to believe i am beautiful no matter what, even when my appearance or the way people treated me because of it had caused me discomfort.

You use logic instead of feelings, and that's how educational videos should be. Don't feel responsible for other people's perceptions of facts and reality. Please continue doing what your doing and try not to mind those who let their ego blind them. They must be going through a tough time as well. 😊
Understanding the science of beauty has actually helped me be MORE confident in myself. Rather than looking at the big picture I get to analyze the smaller details that put my face together and it helps me appreciate beauty in others also.
I think your language is great its really objective and "sterile" so it really just is pure information you can do with as you please.
Please don't sugar coat things.
So basically he's just mad about how you say thing so bluntly even though he admits your videos are objectively true and educational... Then don't watch the video??? Sometimes I get annoyed when older people around me tell me that my generation is becoming a lot softer, I'm beginning to understand why now..
"I want the TRUTH!"
"You can't handle the truth"
exactly. it is as simple as clicking the 'not interested' or 'don't show this channel'. not sure if you can block channel on yt. but I've done many times when I dislike that content creator, just click those two options. and they never show up on my dashboard
@@ryeofoatmeal Yep, blocking is also an option
@@hundvd_7 Exactly, Qoves' niche is "What is beauty" not "How to attain beauty" even if they may have some of the latter. If they wanted tips on how to better their looks then Qoves is definitely not the niche channel for that.
They're soft too
I’ve been binging your videos (I also love the name QOVES), and I do think that we (the viewers) have to take responsibility for our own mental health and know the potential consequences of consuming this type of content, especially if you KNOW you’re prone to degrading yourself.
Your channel has helped me understand a lot about my appearance, been watching since 2019, thank you for all the information!
yup same here ! Thanks for all the information QOVES Studio
These videos are informative and contributed in improving my facial aesthetic greatly
i think what people dont realise is that being a 1/10 doesn't mean you don't have value, or should be treated like shit. i think that might be where part of the offense is from.
Don’t apologize to please the crystal fragile crowd. Keep up the good work and the objectivity of your videos.
I just want to thank you for making all these videos and bodcast! I've actually learnt a lot from them.
I never thought your content worsened my BDD.. i always thought it gave me hope and told me what to do in order to help my bdd. Now i’ve taken some steps to look better and i’m more confident than ever.
Please stay like this. This channel is by far the least offensive when it comes down to discussing facial aesthetics.
Absolutely adore the logical structure of the videos and the straight forward explanations
Very nicely said. What we see in these videos.
Isn't that toxic positivity too
@@Mariahmariahmariah3 What do you mean by "that"?
If you're referring to Woke-ism, what the complaining redditors represent, then yea, that is indeed toxic positivity.
No man was 200lbs during hunter gatherer times either
@@harsh3948 That was just an example to demonstrate a functional and beautiful body morphology. There's no 400 lbs person during that time either.
Why can't we just accept you're ugly?
This channel has been a revelation. Thank you for your work.
-Starts off by explaining the main criticism they get is that their channel promotes facial dysmorphia or dysphoria
-say that this is a very negative way of looking at the world because it implies that there is nothing you can do about it. They provides ‘solutions’ and very few have to do with surgery [for a science channel, they sure don’t understand mental illness, do they]
-then goes on to break-down the post and argument starting with identifying what they interpret as the issues: blunt delivery and doesn’t align with OP’s idea of beauty
-focuses on language OP highlighted and went on to refute those
-basically, spends a lot of time saying that there are 'functional links' between facial aesthetics and health and that a beautiful face is a healthy face.
-says that they didn’t invent beauty standards, but people will treat you differently because of them and that’s not his fault
[I haven’t watched their channel in ages but I don’t remember their videos focusing on health problems or the ‘functional’ aspect of beauty, but more on what is considered attractive, such as the canthal tilt of the eyes, the importance of the thirds of a face, what makes a celebrity face attractive]
-admits some beauty standards should be changed
-discusses cultural subjective standards vs objective biological standards
-Asks, “How do you separate humans from lesser primates?”
-uses example of a cyclops vs human and how we would use ‘two eyes’ as a barometer for humanness
-where do you draw that line? “We all know where that line exists but all I’m doing is I’m trying to fine-tune, with each video, to understand where that line exists.”
-they don’t talk about treatments or surgeries because “in many cases, the treatments or surgeries people need are due to some sort of physical deformity such as a deviated septum, a prognathic jaw, in which case you get jaw surgery…[in most cases a septum is deviated internally, so this surgery won’t typically change the shape of the nose unless the deviation is external]”
-talks about how there are 10 videos on how to style your hair on the channel, 3 videos about optimal beard lengths, 4 videos on fashion and styling
-says very few videos are actually about surgery and that he is usually against surgery and only recommends it if ‘there is actually something bad’
-says [in a patronizing tone] that he also wishes we could live in a world where people valued natural beauty but that ‘reality doesn’t work like that’
-says that this channel isn’t for people who don’t want to hear about the conventional standards of beauty and then goes on to say that you can’t escape them and that they’re everywhere [we're not watching them so why is he so pressed]
-brings up the one video they have about unconventional beauty and then goes on to say that OP is trying to frame QOVES in a ‘very negative light’ and doesn’t understand “what this channel is really about, who I am and what I talk about”
-addresses comment on how they focus only on physical beauty-> refers to podcast and shows on-screen a list of titles relating to how someone smells, sounds, tattoos and attractiveness [ aren’t these also physical? Inner beauty is about someone’s personality]
-“nobody listens to the podcast episodes, but what can I do?” [post them on RUclips where you already have a following? Why would someone avoiding your channel go out of their way to listen to your podcast?]
-talks about their team and all their qualifications and how they’ve been on mainstream media,
-shows a bunch of female-led RUclips channels that talk about beauty standards and how influencers make people feel worse about themselves ‘You’ll listen to people with a lot less, and you’ll listen to a lot more, if they support your worldview’
-addressed comment about cherry-picking research and explains this using sample size vs effect size and statistical power
-says that they can have a small sample size and if they find something significant in that small sample, it should be investigated at a much larger size. If they look into a large group, they will find too many trends [so why aren’t they using more than one study to support the same fact in order to ensure that the original study is valid?]
-when they use small sample size studies, they are using more science than any other aesthetics RUclips channel out there who doesn’t quote studies [doesn’t mean they’re using good, or even accurate studies]
-says it’s not about QOVES as a content creator, but about ‘QOVES making more money than I do’ [pulling the old ‘they’re just jealous’ argument when you run out of things to say]
-goes on a rant about how long the report they offer is, how much effort goes into it, etc. [Check out this looks maxxing subreddit’s take on why their report is unhelpful]
[The next part is extremely heartless and shows who QOVES really is, imo.]
-“it is a shame that my channel has contributed to worsening his body dysmorphia, but at the same time it’s hard to feel too bad for him because he did get what he asked for from the video because it’s not like the videos left him unsatisfied. His words, not mine.”
-talks about how these are the uncomfortable truths of life and ‘don’t shoot the messenger’
-keeps referencing jaw example
-talks about why he takes these criticisms personally and says that it’s because people often “resort to name-calling and very generalized statements without doing any of the work to inform a logical argument”
-talks about how reddit is an echo chamber
- Reddit user: No_Application2819
late reply but the guy that runs this channel comes off as cruel (and tbf you have to be somewhat cruel to run a channel like this one)
Reality is cruel @@rockeyfan3724
wtf am i reading
I feel like these videos are super helpful personally. Attractiveness is not the be all and end all of life but it’s also something we can work on and improve at. People who hate self improvement are weird, like why would you not want to be the best version of yourself as you could? It’s also great to accept yourself with your flaws and all and still be happy, doesn’t mean it’s not great to try your best to be your best.
Very much true.
Beauty is not found it is observed. They don't find the beauty in models they just see the symmetrical face and good eye area.
Talking about click baits, I’ve never clicked faster on anything 😂
Yh me too
It did say 'not a fun video' :O
Please don't change! I feel that these videos are not blunt, but academic, and it is soo nice to find such objective information!
You are the channel that talks about topics which i only dreamt of and thought it's only me who is interested in this
and the real issue.. most aren’t attractive… they never will be… and people obsess over things they can’t reach.
Most are average. People tend to look at it at in black or white white
@@BitchChill yupp, it all comes back to genetics and evolution
Idk how this person sees talking about conventions without using a specific language. As to me, this channel is a real gem 💎
@Sad officier K
Actually what you said is doomer bs, I know multiple people who are super ugly or even actual burn victims with disfigured faces. They have attractive and loving partners and they're very happy. It's not about how you look, it's about what's in your mind.
@Sad officier K "It's not about how you look, it's about what's in your mind." go away with that bs, wrong channel
@Sad officier K oh yeah sorry replied to the wrong guy :D
Be harsh, It's better.
i actually love how you word your videos. ur videos helped me appreciate people's beauty more actually. and it also helped me improve my lifestyle.
so the people who feel like this just need to control what they can access and watch on the internet...
Someone somewhere will always find something to get offended about, I suggest to not respond to negative criticisms anymore.
Already have one, cant see how it can get worse
I enjoy this channel and here’s why:
The challenge for us viewers is to implement viable solutions and strive to be the best version of ourselves. We won’t change the way people perceive us, but we shouldn’t let that affect the pride we can take in our progress and our journey to be better everyday.
Actually this comment deserves more like because you are completely correct!
Your channel is a service to many people. Don't let a few soft and emotionally insecure people bother you. Please keep doing what you're doing!
Just like an alcoholic has no business wandering around a liquor store.
you are legend never listen to those people who are trying to cancel you for telling us whats right
Your no bullshit approach is the only thing that keeps me watching these people have been so coddled they think they have body dysmorphia because they're uglier than they thought they were

Im not really into beauty/styling/fashion stuff, the only channel that is related to those to which Im subscribed to, is this channel, continue the great work
if they get offended by objective facts then that's their problem.
You say everything as kindly as possible which is why you are great and reasonable
I appreciate Qoves for it's direct and straight forward information.
facts > feelings.
Brutal
find someone who loves the way you look and it will all go away.
Don't worry and do maintain whatever you're doing. This channel is the solid youtube channel which explains importance of the physical attractiveness , how it works in social life and business world, not only objective but also subjective details of attractivenes in a scientific way. I've been following this channel since the first day of it established. I can't tell this channel how much changed my life style and my perspective. You contribute to understanding what is the behind of people's behaviours and preferences. This channel is the playground of who is an intellect person and seeks how reality works, not the playground of who has a self-centered mindset and cares his feelings much more than reality. Also who really isnt willing to learn and do something.
