Hi Mark. Thank you for your insight and helpful information. I appreciate your ability to articulate the many different facets of golf and it’s why I always come to you when I want to gain more insight or when I need the “real” reason for why something results the way it does. Your explanations are on the academia level of quality I look forward to attending your classes, ”Professor Crossfield” lol. Keep up the excellent work!

Obviously… LOL. I can remember you did a video years ago talking about the whole concept of closing the D angle. But as you also hit on, there are so many factors… I wish I had more easy access to understanding numbers since that would also mean I’m playing all the time. I’m just glad there are people like you who break it down, make sense, and help us avoid unneeded golf purchases. 😂 Thanks Mark!

My advice somewhat outside of the suggestions above would be tee it high and hit a big draw. Getting taller tees helped me so much.

*ALL PLEASE READ* Fair play to you Mark, I was just browsing vids to understand what spin does in a driver shot - I.e is high bad and low good or visa versa or neither so that I can work out what the things I hadn’t known or realised before watching this video - so thanks for clearing up the BS. I hate that people on RUclips don’t realise they’ll get more income from respect of telling the truth instead of click bait - because now when I need to know something I’ll come here first knowing I’m not going to take one bit of advice and then hear another the opposite and get shat on by people trying to stick out to make a quick buck by making “revolutionary finds” when actually telling the truth doesn’t mean that’s me fixed I’ll never need to watch another video you’ve given everything away, it means next time I have thought of the billions possible in golf I’ll come here first knowing I can trust you based on A your dislike of any BS unhealthy info but B can back it up with maths and science and not trying to sell me something I.e just simply changing balls instead of sticking to old trusty will have a scientifically proven fact result behind because it physically has to by having different properties that 99/100 times will not equate the same to another product having different characteristics for the same result.
I’m a 4.2 handicap that in my final season went from 6.5 to 4.2 and ran out of season playing a difficult course par or under most rounds. I’m a naturally gifted short game I.e 60 deg off the fringe flown to the pin with instant stop and the same with putting but by a mental approach, at 6.5 I had to hit the ball so close to the pin I’m talking 4ft to not 3 putt, then a eureka moment when I realised after five years I actually never really studied the green compared to technique 10 % green read and 90% technical over the ball, I then started getting obsessed in a spectacularly good way in how a ball would react on the terrain just by aiming say an inch higher that has a foot difference in outcome, from there every day at work I couldn’t wait to get to a green just to get fascinated in the line and path to the whole, now I can’t wait to get my shot to the green and stood over the ball I’m 90% lost in my own world away from pressure or the meaning of the outcome of the putt green reading and 10 % technical by finding my line, lining my large ball marked line on that line and then lined up with the line on my very expensive 009 putter which in turn has given me my most commonly received comment - “your stroke looks professional standard every single roll” - my reply is I couldn’t tell you - I don’t notice or practice mechanics ever - because like a pendulum which doesn’t have a brain just rocks side to side identically - is all I do with my stroke, once you have your perfect setup putter to your natural specific measurements it’s hard not to make a pendulum motion, crouched over slightly with your palms together just hanging if you move your shoulders side to side like the top of pendulum then when your pendulum reaches its low point it will contact the ball that just gets in the way of it’s complete motion but strikes at the exact same impact point impeccably accurately every single time - combine those and putting is an addiction! That’s a scientific truth fact not adjust this and bend that and move this - just replicate a pendulum with your hands that is the bottom of the pendulum and your shoulders which are the top axis they sway side to side on - the middle of your putter face will soon become a shadow of consistently constantly meeting the identical strike point based on physics. That’s a no BS cut to fact.
I once played an A team game last out and usually by the last you know the outcome because they’re either all in the bar in which case the match is done or in this case both sides every man surrounding the green. Thanks to my couple of lessons with a no BS coach/friend who took me from a playable but poor low hook to a high pure 1 yard fade I had become Josh Hazelwood bowling like monotonous fairway and green, I find the green and see everyone, my 100 yard par 5 wedge was all over the pin but surprisingly 5ft past instead of underneath a big sloping green, comes down to my putt to win our match, since the minute I hit the green I may aswell have been asleep to the situation because all I was computing was what would the ball do if I started it there, or maybe an inch more there with less pace, because of practice I’d read this putt before and mis read it so even though when I’m stood over any putt I’ve 100% committed to my line with this putt I was 100% certain of the line, it looks like downhill it should break a little left and if it does miss then any pace you have 7ft coming back. So in my own world I line the ball up on the line I know it rolls on, make sure my 10% technical mechanics are correct I.e grip Identically square on the grip and my putter face and line are perfect to the ball and with no hesitation or practice swing I get it moving and walk after it and shake hands for our win on the last. Afterwards the captain of their club approached me and said how could you do that so calm and casually like you weren’t bothered if it missed, I said because sir A I knew I couldn’t miss it unless my putter head fell off and B I wasn’t bothered if it missed - because I’ll still be alive tomorrow and by tomorrow evening it won’t even be a niggle if It even crossed my mind because in the grand scheme miss or hit it ultimately means fck all in the grand scheme of my life and the universe and the only thing that would have made it a concern - not even 10 million quid on the line would be if it was for someone’s life and yet even then hit or miss in this existence after an event has occurred - there’s not a single physical way possible I can go back and change the outcome, so I let it ruin all that I could do in the future - or my preference - not waste a single minute of the countdown clock on my life that started when I was born and go do something productive.
Let that be an inspiration for anyone who reads and hopefully Mark will too lol!

I would appreciate a video explaining how to increase iron height, descent angle and spin. Perhaps talk a bit about appropriate spin ranges for irons.

Crazy how fitters like to use shaft to manipulate numbers, when I personally believe that shaft bend profiles are there to help a golfer sequence and transition properly, causing the golfer to make a better strike. At the end, there is no fixing a bad swing with tech.

This idea is sold. It’s has some truth but again it’s so play specific. Gues what, most golfers regress to their means. 👍

Do I need to go back to school and pass my O Grade Physics?
I was fitted for a driver yesterday, I didn't jump in and buy it as I remembered a video you made about how clubs are all very similar and club fitting data can be manipulated by the fitter to sell clubs.
Would like to understand my numbers.

I hate hitting a great drive and it has so much back spin it creates a divot in the fairway, thus no extra roll.

Biggest waste of 7 minutes of my life you've done nothing but tell someone about standard deviation how do you know his isn't closed or tight what he was looking for was some techniques to strike the ball better not you telling him to strike the ball better
