So I just bought a 2016 Cascadia and the first time I put DEF in it I get this issue. I’m currently 20 mins in to the Regen and the light stopped blinking and the Check Engine light is out. I fixed my problem with poor def quality. He is how you fix it. First take your truck to close truck stop ask him to change your def filter lu7103 it costs 32 dollars then do rgen for about 40 minutes and you see all check engine clear up

It's never just a regen and if you've been bringing it to mechanics for two years and have the same problem, you've been going to a garbage shop. Look it up. Regents fix nothing. They are used for diagnostics, ash and soot volume and recalibrations per all oem. If you'd like to learn more and get a basic knowledge of the after treatment systems cummins is the most open to their after treatment systems seeing how all after treatment systems in use now are based off their design.

I have this problem all the time. A medium to heavy load and a steep grade. The two check engine lights come on and the DEF light starts to blink. I get to the top and safely pull over and I do a regeneration. I just paid to have a DEF Awning installed. I just paid to have my DEF filter pulled, Baked and replaced. Still have this problem. The other day I was alarmed because the regeneration did not fix the problem. I decided to derate (limp mode) to a Freightliner dealer 15 miles away. On my way to the dealer it all disappeared. Drove 300 miles home and never had another problem. PLEASE ADVISE. 2014 Cascadia, DD15.
@gennadypopov4497 having the same issue about 40 mins from home while I'm resetting for the next days work. Looked up another video and he was saying that the SCR/ONE box harness was the likely culprit along with some faulty sensors. He said the harness is like 150-250$ and it's fairly easy to replace. It's 10 clips and dumping the old def and using boxed def will help this issue. I'm trying that tomorrow given I can find that harness. Will update in about 48 hrs
I get that issue a lot because it's an old truck the boss bought at auction, and won't change the darned filters. >.< But so you know, had to look it up when it started happening, FMI 18 SPN 4364 (and 3364 if I remember that other one right) come up as "bad DEF or faulty NOX sensor" so basically it means your NOX levels are too high. Could be bad sensors, bad filters, or even an impending One Box failure (had that one cripple me once). BTW that engine light with no lettering on it is the "Maintenance Needed" light, a lower-level version of the Check Engine light. Usually gets thrown when a minor issue like the code 4364 happens. Did learn something new in this video... I hate how we can't trigger a regen unless the filter light is flashing, or we get the CE/DEF lights... never thought to hold regen and the override, gonna try it next chance I get, thank you! [edit to correct a typo, meant to say 3364 not 3374, and I looked it up, that is the other code I was getting, seem to come as a pair, for me, get both at same time]

It's not fixed, only delayed I guarantee it. Regens do not fix anything per oem. First thing they teach you in a after treatment class. Strictly used for diagnostics, lowering ask and soot levels and recalibrations on the systems and major repairs completed.
We dont actually know because it was not properly scanned. Bottom line. Need to see the date on filters when replaced last. Pto time on unit. Are all after treatment parts running in the correct range i.e. hours on nox sensors ect. You don't do swapnoatics on a 5k part like a dpf. Have it scanned threw dd diagnostics tool. A regen is used for diagnostics purposes. Tells the technician all he needs to know. Temps, dosing times ect. Seek a true professional.

Trucker Dave 215 from my experience it lasts a couple of weeks. But that’s because I try to run light in mountainous areas. Also if you do a lot of idling you’ll have to regen more also. I eventually had to get them baked out. It cost around $2300 which is crazy! I recommend trying the Lucas deep clean, that one worked best to slow it down but you’ll probably have to do a bottle a week if it’s really bad. Anyway, I hope that helps and best of luck.
Six Figure Trucking thanks man I had to force regend some lights came off but I drove about 100 miles when def lights came back on and stop engine light came on and it when to derate mode to 5mph I call roadside and it was the dozer wire harness under passenger seat near dpf filter cost 200 but labor and coming out to me was 1300 the wire was cut form rubbing on metal thanks for video

On what. ?? And did your problem get fix correctly after you spent that $2300. And from the time you made this video did you solid miter light go away once you started driving again. ?
Mine just auto regened and it is still there but it hasn't derated on me yet lol I know its early but how much longer do you think I have before it derates?
If your ash or soot volume is too high it can take two regends. Your dpf's are supposed to last 5 years assuming you ran the truck and the after treatment system is running correctly. Low idle time is a must. Any mechanic with dd diagnostics can see the pto time on the truck. Every 10 hours idle equals 1 mile to the trucks dricmvetrain and after treatment. Do your regens! Don't stop them!
@@juniorcastaneda6018 thanks tho but my truck is running good now. Freightliner had to change the whole One Box n dpf fitlers.. The One Box wasnt holding high temperature thats why it was having that problem.
@@sjkang21 freightliner had a campaign on the one boxes. The welds were not done correctly. Look into it. At our shop alone in the past two years we have changed hundred s for that reason and were refunded. I believe there is a year makes and models it falls under.

I'm sure most of that money was spent on the diagnostics aspect of that. Nox sensors are the most changed part in the after treatment system. Unfortunately that is a down stream problem. Which means something upstream is the real issue 9/10 times. Gl with that.
We have the same exact truck. 2016 DD15. Do you have the DT12 automatic too? I've been dealing with this same issue. I live in CT, I always keep my DEF tank full & I always fill it at the TA off of exit 28 Milldale, CT. I think you've solved my issue after all of this trouble for the past 6 months. Cycling is 5 times won't usually work, I believe it's timing. After you do your regen, you're left with one check engine light that will go off in a day or 2. I have the same problem when pulling heavy loads up 287. It's so calculated that it starts flashing in the same exact spot (I'm a local owner of, intermodal), I'm going to start buying the boxed DEF. I've been doing the wrong thing all along. 1. By only using pumped DEF at TA's. 2. Topping it off everytime I get fuel, I'm praying this works
My apologies for the delay. But I updated the description on this video. But since then I tried 2 different additives: 1. Lucas Deep Clean & 2. HotShots Secrets Diesel. I have only had to Regen once! It helps to clean the DPF system and helps the fuel burn cleaner. I hope this helps.

It get a hickup. Then all good. Comes on usually up a hill under heavy load. Just run on a flat area. All goes away

Mah A yep! It’s only a matter of time before you’ll get the code that the filters need to be replaced. How many miles do you have?

Some problems won't give fault codes but are related to other issues. See a professional shop that has full resources to dd diagnostics.

Literally getting the def tank taken out. If you bring it to freightliner they will at least charge you 5k and the problem won’t be solved.
That engine override with the regen button doesn't work for me anyway

James Cannon depends on the area, for mine I had to do 2 regens back to back in order for the light to go away.

How did you get the engine light to go off?
Brother Jaypal the best way to do it is after you've cleared the codes, disconnect the batteries for about 10 mins and that should do it.

Engine light usually stays on for a day or so. You got lucky that the truck regen itself, need to invest in a regen tool. #OTRPERFORMANCE
Worst case scenario your DPF filters are messed up. Plugged, cracked, melted. Im living it. Not good when you pay out of pocket.

It's a mil light that takes key cycles to retire. This issue is not " fixed".
