Stevie Wonder "I Was Made To Love Her" My Extended Version!!

- No copyright infringement intended. One of Stevie's best...with help from Motown's Funk Brothers and James Jamerson's amazing bass. You'll hear lots of instrumental breakdown from the original backing track that stretches this to a length it deserves.

Just in case you didn't know, the owner of this channel, mosogotam, whose real name is John Perrone, sadly passed away April 5, 2020 from COVID-19. He was an absolute genius for this and all the other wonderful tracks he created. May he rest in peace.
Rip
Yes I enjoyed many of his videos!!!
RIP🙏🏿
Rest easy buddy....and Thank You.
Rest in Peace Sir. Thank You
Stevie Wonder's late mom, Lula Mae Hardaway helped write this song- as well as.. Signed, Sealed, Delivered...I think she needs applause! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Never knew this!!!!My friends will love this bit of ed~
@@1Airwaving ..his mother went through alot! She was once, forced into prostitution (pimped) by Stevie Wonder's dad Calvin, to make ends meet, when the kids were young! She finally divorced his butt! Check out the book "Blind Faith", it's her memoir of her abusive relationship! She was really pretty, too!
YES!!!!!!!
@@chasacart oh yeah I saw that on Ashley says so channel….I was shocked! But not surprised
Oh yes thanks for that its in the genes
"My papa disapproved it. My mama boo hooed it" Just genius writing.
I KNOW RIGHT
His mama wrote some of it too😊 from wiki " The song was written by Wonder, his mother Lula Mae Hardaway, Sylvia Moy, and producer Henry Cosby "
❤❤❤
Yup--great lyrics.
That bassline by James Jamerson was just utterly brilliant.
Fuckin a
Absolutely right
U got that right 👉
Hands down. That baseline was thumping.
HELL YEAH!
One of the most vicious bass lines ever, long live Jamerson!
yes, absolutely!!!!
Definitely Joe, I remember way back when my bass instructor taught me this bassline. At that point I realized Jameson was one of the greatest ever!
marvin said when he laid down the bass line for inner city blues they had to go get him from a club and he was drunk as hell. went to the studio laid on the floor asked for his bass and nailed it on the first take then got up and left.
coley22 Sometimes, that's how it happens, and gives the best results under those conditions👏
The bass line is awesome! It gets me every time!
My all time favourite bass line by James Jamerson 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
This and his work on Bernadette is an absolute master class. I wish more bass players did walking bass like James did. Also you can hear how influential he was to Paul McCartney and Nile Rogers in just this one track
This song has one of the best base lines in history. It just gets your heart beating.
@@9999bigbYou mean the mighty Bernard Edwards from Chic, a straight boss on the bass!!!
@@sirjer73 Edwards played on Bernadette? Thank you for the correction.
@@9999bigbNo, James Jamerson played on Bernadette. I believe the comment was stating how Jamerson's Bass playing influenced Bernard Edwards (Chic Bassest) among others
For those under 50, this is what what genius sounds like.
Yes Indeed Yes Indeed YES INDEED!
This extended version is a great way to introduce people to the powers of production and layering, perfected by Motown.
perfected by many, many times over....
The problem i had was its to short 😕 And know..... I have no words !
The guitars parts are just wonderful and than there is James underneath, holy shit these are musicians.
musicrat51 It couldn't be said any better
Yes, they are!
AS ISSAC HAYES WOULD SAY " YA' DAMN RIGHT !!!"
google "Standing In the Shadows Of Motown"--documentary of the studio band The Funk Brothers--outstanding! CD's of the soundtrack with vocals, also one of the extended versions!
@@MrGuitarman0413 Motown forever!
This music changed America! it's spiritual force is undeniable.
And we need it...I want that back.We need that back....seems 2000 we turned a corner but by 2004 things got so ugly...so fast that it is depressing, full on anger, etc. I want what Stevie sang at the end of "Livin For The City" that if we don't live together this world will soon be over to be known everywhere.
You Hit that right!!! Never will there be another Stevie Wonder,, he was the Wonder of the World,, nothin'' he did went un--- appreciated,,, still here in 2019
Here in lyes the absolutest, neigh, dare I say best ever collaboration???_

Amazing how a song can take you back 54 years in a second. Vividly. Contains all the essence of Motown, it's magnificent studio musicians, layering of the track, and of course a young Stevie
HEAVENLY
This Music is a killer I love this
Indeed!
I know that's right!
This song was played multiple times at the skating rink. I couldn’t skate, but I would watch the skaters skating this song!
The greatest bass player ever. If there's any doubt, play the song again.
TELL THEM AGAIN, AND SAY IT LOUDER! NO ONE HAS EVER INFLUENCED ELECTRIC BASS PLAYING LIKE JAMES JAMERSON!!!!🥰😜💓🧡
Ya
Great but that would be McCartney...
The bass is just SO off the charts..whoa..Jamerson was a monster!
+robert watt Sorry but the bass on this song is none other than Carol Kaye of The Wrecking Crew.
+B.K. Nicholson Wrong...Jemerson is the bassman, well known and documented. Just listen...you can tell.
Yeah, I don't & won't argue with folks about "who played what" on these fabulous mixes however I thank Shane Husack for his support. Of COURSE it was Jamerson!!
Yeah that stuff about Carol Kaye...i would tend not to get petty
+Fred Fender Of course it's James! what idiot would think otherwise?
The vocals in this song are beyond amazing. you can really tell how much passion he put into such a beautiful song like this
Soul Music
Magic riffs and vocals just the best chills forever thank god for these people who brought the music

@@fostermac7170 yeah he was young
This is the BEST BASS LINE EVER from the BEST BASSIST EVER!!!! Rest Well Mr. James Jamerson!🙏🏾
Not sure we can say the best bassist ever; there are extremely good bass players around yet that can be discovered on YT but surely JJ contributed strongly to a special Tamla Motown unique sound.
Anyway I am extremely proud to have promoted Stevie in concert.
James fabulous to be sure. And then there's Paul McCartney - pretty good bassist in a different genre
@@collectoroffrance Stevie thumped a pretty solid bass on some of his later albums. With no doubt, Jamerson set the Motown standard.
THE f UNK BROTHERS , DONT FORGET TEMPS PAPA WAS A ROLLING STONE . that bass at the beginning. Wow. cant forget it.
This is, without a doubt, my favorite Stevie Wonder song. He's a frigging genius. Also, this is probably the best bass line in history.
There will never ever be a Studio band like THE FUNK BROTHERS
I'm 63 years old. Listened to this as a child. I have compassion for youngters of today. We listened to love songs they listen to sex songs. We listened to romance now it's all about finance. I understand why they are so cold and cruel. God save us ALL...
gail brown ooo wow....can't say much more than well stated!!!!
Just from the bass line alone...so many memories of that time.
gail brown
I'm 38 & must admit that you are so correct !!!
gail brown thank u Queen!! am 63. 2
So well said Gail. We've got to stand as strong as we can for the younger ones because their road has really been made hard by so many things. Thanks again.
I wasn't born in little rock, born in Detroit. Didn't have a childhood sweetheart but i had Stevie Wonder. I close my eyes and listen to this song and just cry at what Detroit was. Such a great place to grow up in the 60's, 70's-80's. What painful great memories
JJ is the master by which all other bass players are made. Long live Motown’s bass player James Jamerson
Paul Mc says JJ heavily influenced his choices as a bassist
@@2ndoboe And many others also...
First heard this great sound at 21 yrs.-- now 71yrs. and still one of my all-time favorites.
Stephen Sokol yes sir old school mad respect sir!
Dynamite . . Great song and mix . . Ty Stevie!!!
Stephen Soko
First album I bought. Still one of favs.
Stephen Sokol 11 years old for me. Such a joy and blessing to have grown from a young child to young teen in the Turbulent, Beautiful, Joyful, Tragic, Magical decade known as the 1960s where the human heart for most was still full of love and purity. Love, Peace, and Mercy to all.
this masterpiece needs to be re-released as this optimum version!
James Jamerson was incredible . His tracks are timeless.
Who else besides me comes here just to get a whole vibe on Mr. James Jamerson?
You play bass? I started playing after I couldn't drums in my new place. I have no idea how he played everything with his pointer finger.
@@user-hh9mr7sr7f No, I've never played bass, but would love to learn. I also want to play with one finger as he had!

Stevie is a living legend! Rest in peace brilliant bassist James Jamerson and the rest of the great Funk Brothers.
I heard a music critic once call this song “pure attack.” I love it so much. And I love Stevie Wonder. He’s one of the greatest artists who ever lived. That bass gives me goosebumps.
I'm 67 years old and I remember being at my grandparents house with all of my aunts and uncles from both sides of the family Mom 14, Dad 15 siblings, and I'll you the crib was ROCKIN!! OMG such great times!! Being handed silver dollars and 50 cent pieces for being "family", and hearing boy you sure look like your Mama/Daddy or some other relative. Getting a sip of coffee or getting to bring someone a plate of food or drink (stackin coin 😂). Man I love this great country, bitd we all white, black, mexican, rich, poor were for the most part just chillin on this great music you're listening to!! The current generation has NO CLUE of what music and real life is...NADA!! I thank the Lord for this imperfect, but what used to be GREAT country of ours...man I miss those simple days gone by. Yeshua Messiah bless you all❤
The finest bass part EVER played on a tune! Its the "hook"- that's what that one finger style James used was called! Jamerson-the epitome of bass players! We love You brother!
Sooooo true 👍
this extended version is the bomb! the musical genius of James Jamerson!! That bass groove is just amazing!!
Aj NaN DeZ Never knew about this extended Version of this beautiful song

He nails the groove!
James Jamerson best bass player in the history of pop music!
No lies told
Who plays bass like this!? Comes from a special place.......🙏🏻
Rocco Prestia did, but he's gone now...
There'll never be such a soulful calaborrative musical effort to come together again. My opinion, just saying.
OMG! This extended version is off the hook and my daughter said the bass line is vicious! Thank you James Jamerson! The musicians are absolutely incredible and the background vocalists sing like angels! I was a kid when this song was out but my parents would play this to death around the house and at all their house parties! Give it up to the incomparable, vocalist, producer, Musical director, songwriter, the multitalented, the legendary genius, STEVIE WONDER! B
How anyone could put a "thumbs down" on this song is beyond me. I especially love this extended version just to hear a little more Jamerson, This is definitely one of my favorites. I feel it to my core!
I actually feel sorry a little bit for those thumbing down..... they have no idea what they missed and are missing.
Just a straight hater
The Funk Brothers ! Damn ! Those legendary guitar riffs and bass - still gives me butterflies every time! And Stevie Wonder’s vocals. The song is truly one of the most heartfelt and emotionally emphatic records ever produced! Remind me of the innocence of my childhood in the days before the harsh realities of life interrupted. 🤔
Reminds me of my youth in New Orleans. Great Times. RIP SIS.LOVE YA🥰
You’re comment made me emotional. I’m 49, so it reminded me of my childhood in a different way than it does for you. It's still beautiful Brother
The first time seeing Stevie singing this on Ed Sullivan, you knew he was really something special. He never disappoints. He's an American treasure.
James and Bennie were the great beats of that era. Never got the credit they deserved .
Let's hear it for James Jamerson!
That's what I hear...
Yes Mr Jamerson is the MAN...I love bass driven music!!
Yes Yes Yes Mr. Jamerson was the one!

This is my all time favorite Stevie Wonder song, and this version is making me smile so hard . . . well done!
It's not my fave. But it ranks very high.... because my dad loves it so much. Idk if it is with nostalgia but he sings it really hard when I play it for him....lol....
Me too ✋
My favorite classic Stevie Wonder for sure. Such a great tune with a bass line that smokes.
Definitely my favorite one 🥰
So
Everyone on this track gave it HELL!!! Amazing from top to bottom. The bass played a solo all the way through..., AMAZING!!!
Everybody that touched this song was at the top of what music could be. The best of all : James Jamerson, with his contrapuntal bass that made the tune sound like two tunes rolled into one.
Damn... the instruments sounds so clear and original
Henny Blakk we sure don't get a lot of that with today's artists. it's just a different time zone now.
+tanya45096 Can they play instruments?
Bruce Powell you mean today's artist?
Thanks Stevie and the Funk Bros. I was made to love this song. Would make me dance at my own funeral.
Stevie has the best back catalogue in music. Up there with the Beatles and Micheal Jackson. Living legend. God bless him.

Wow! Just wow. That strong electric guitar riff..incredible soul.

They have to be the tightest band to ever walk the earth . No doubt.
Summer of 67! Bass players got a lesson!
I remember Jean Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin saying this track inspired him. Nobody but nobody played bass like James Jameson. I also heard a story that this bassline was scored before the recording session to try and trip him up but as always, after one run through, he aced it.
The good times. I cry when I hear this!

I stop on this version of my favorite Stevie Wonder song at least once a week, and then I play it several times in a row. I think it's the Funk Brothers that bring me back to this version again and again. It's also awesome that Stevie's mother was so talented in her own right, too. How cool would that be, to have your mom writing songs with you? Great job, thanks!

He did well to preserve these vintage tunes for all lovers of vintage black music thanks Sir
Stevie Wonder is a musical genius in his own right, but "I Was Made To Love Her" shows just how much an awesome backup group can add to the song.
That last bass triad that Jamerson plays, right at the end (5:23), with a little bit of reverb on it - that is a perfect ending!

They said, Michael was the King of Pop, well I'm 65 and Stevie must of been the King of Rock, cause he was rocking all my years growing up!!
This hands down is the BEST remix of this song I have heard. It pays proper homage to it in every way possible. All the parts of the song sound good, builds nicely into the vocals, breaks for dancing but always a great listen. Supreme front to back as usual.

mosogotam You are welcome. You clearly put in work to make this and all of your remixes special. Beautiful work.
+DJ Freedom ...thanks again, DJ!!!
JAMERSON! as far as I'm concerned music is all about feel. IMHO the real reason he's the goat is the ability to play a solo alongside Stevie and never get in his way. Stevie's vocal is 101 percent STEVIE but you can't get away from that other solo. Perfection
Stevie is pure gold but James is the diamond
mfr should have been paid a million bucks with these Motown riffs..!!

A bass hero to those of us who love and play bass! James, you're so goddamn Wonderful!
This song is why I bought a bass guitar. Jamerson is awesome.
James killing that bass line, Stevie hit'em with that Hop. Combination of two made a HIT.
I've said it before I'll say it again, being born in 1964 I was sooooo lucky to grow up with all the great music from late 60s and 70s.
Another one of Jamerson's iconic, hard to duplicate basslines. What a "feel" this brother had for rhythm....amazing to listen to.
All the more mesmerizing if he did this with one finger.
I honesty believe he did use one finger because of the "laid back" "slow hand" sound his style his produces. Incredible! Thanks for your incredible basslines Mr. Jamerson!
RIH!
BassdonDa1 Yes, he called it the "hook" and he was amazing.
You are ABSOLUTELY correct.
In fact, please look up Carol Kaye, the blue-eyed soul sister.
Both she and brother Jamerson had created basslines and guitar licks on which music created during this era were fundamentally based (no pun intended).
Too many people witnessed his one finger (THE HOOK) playing. Dude was the top of the BOTTOM!
What a bass line what a bass player . Beyond compare. My favorite song of all time.Sublime
probably the best bassline of all time
Musicians frequently diss The bass Player (TBP). Until a real one comes along. And Jamerson was THE REAL DEAL.
