- There's so much to do to get this car ready for it's next track day. I only have about one week worth of time to work on it. This video is a result of that week. Man, I wish I had more time..

Finally a car channel who actually is driving their cars, too many people build sweet ride and never track them. Keep it up guys!
You should check out Adam LZ, Alberto Big Boost, and Speed Academy they all track day their cars.
Maybe it's because they didn't build them for the track
This video made me go out for a drive and appreciate my car even though it's stock af
Most relatable thing I've read in a while...
👍
stock is fun. my 00 mustang gt is hella stock except the PI heads and intake but shes super fun to drive. just save your pennies and build her as you go
My gti is stock but I love driving it. If my intake messes up covered under warranty. Lol 😋
That's the point! :)
Fam.... I NEED THE 0-60 OF THAT DRILL!!!
Jesus... this should be funded like a proper tv show..
This channel just gets better and better...
People who are saying “why are you putting so much money and work into an escort” or “why are you building an escort” clearly haven’t driven one before or pushed one to their limits because they handle pretty damn well and are fun to drive.
Gavinator ZX2S/R not to mention how great they look. I love escorts, so glad to see someone building one instead of a common and boring japanese car
Cheap to own and fix too. A lot of fun for your money, pretty easy to work on, and a great car to start building your automotive maintenance/tinkering skills on.
How does anyone even dislike this??? BTW, the new wheels look better on the car tbh
MadsTer theirs a lot of human sewage out there!
7:42 Well damn you guys can even make something as mundane as pouring water look cinematic.
ツChris slider ftw
I remember when you were asking on the zx2 Facebook group for a s/r cluster! Man your the only reason I still have mine!
This channel never fails to amaze me. All the content is phenomenally made. Love y'alls work!
Wow, I've enjoyed seeing the progress of the ZX2 project car. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
Good to see you guys still doing well after quitting your fairly secure jobs to pursue your passion. BIG props for taking that risk 👍 hope all is going well. If you can run purple ice instead of water wetter you may see better temps in warmer months i did. Keep the videos coming 👍
Man, thats some shenanigans right there. Addressing weak points and basic maintenance are 2 different things. Bent wheels, gauge clusters, bushings, tires... if you have coolant issues, maybe start from the radiator next time. Also, dont leave everything for the last moment, you wont be stressed out and there will be no drama. Otherwise admiration for your dedication. Have fun on the track, best of luck and fast lap times.
It's really cool you did an escort build. Such an obscure platform in the US but is defiantly proven in Europe. Super professional and clean jobs too! You leave no stone unturned. Subbed for sure!
Idea for fixing those inserts on your manifold: Take any old super glue, coat/fill the inside generously, and scoop some baking soda onto any exposed glue. The baking soda will instantly cure/harden the glue, and hopefully set them into the plastic well. Also, I have to say that this video and your car have seriously inspired me. Looking forward to more!
One tip, having done a few track days and run into this issue myself: you will want to relocate your car number to the door panels.
The folks doing tech inspections should have caught this, as glass can break in an accident and track officials need to be able to ID your car quickly in the event of an incident.
Anyway, love the videos guys - keep up the good work.
Definitely one of the best car channels out
That's a beautiful car
Pretty pumped to see someone else taking a Zx2 and making a track car. I race in an amateur racing league which is somewhat competitive. I modified the OEM struts and added strut inserts/coil overs, added caster/camber adjustment. Dropped the overall ride height by 2-3” and went with 245/40 200 tread wear. Had to tweak the strut tower and use longer ball joints. Camber is about 3 dregs in the front 2.5 in the rear. Removed the front anti sway bar. Then the motor blew. But the car handles unbelievably.
Its crazy how far ahead the IG posts are to the youtube channel. Great stuff regardless, really looking forward to the next installments. Can't wait to see the hyperfest coverage.
Haha yeah, we have about a 2 month lead time
Damn, I didnt even notice it was that far ahead. I'm really pumped to see the new motor build in the Ford.
Always a good saturday when it's a G&G saturday
Spoiler alert.......
RIP pistons
Instagram has all the spoilers
Oh I thought this was going to be a wing joke
Beautiful content as always man. Really enjoy following your dedication and progress
i love this channel so much, the quality of the work that's produced is amazing. keep it up
Nice job! Keep them coming
No better way this video could have been done. What a great job on this video, you have become on my favourite car channels
This convinced me any car can be a track car with a little hard work.
Is that spoiler from Z24 cavalier?! Looks right at home on the escort.
Please make that video about the alignment tools!!! You guys' material is so good!!!! Always looking forward to it!
Awesome build, just a little FYI those plastic inserts usually fail when they have been overtorqued, I had a similar issue and I was able to epoxy it back in place with no issues, keep up the good work!
I want more videos on the legacy gt wagon that you were finishing! that's what brought me to this channel
That looks hella good, I like that you look more at the function than looks
Love the vid The struggle is real.
Always bumps in the road it is how you over come them.
Great production as always. You guys keep up the good work
I've never wanted to drive an Escort more in my life! Haha! Very nice!
I once had a similar issue with nutcerts coming loose from my intake. JB welded it back in... zero problem after that.
This ONE AWESOME BUILD...WOW !
Loved the short film! Cannot wait to see the results in the next video
I like it how you wore the shades for eye protection
Stylish and functional 😉
I remember when my brother got his zx2.. and to be honest, it was so damn fun to drive. Nothing special but quite alot of fun. He had plans to track it until someone ran a red light one day and totaled it :(
I'd just been watching all your essays videos to inspirate myself to purchase and import a new clutch kit for my car, it is modified with kevlar reinforced disc and cost the double than a regular. Big money for me but i'm ready to do it. Passion. Will be back in this video once in my hands :)
Would love some more escort videos! It’s beautiful, I love it way better than any of the milquetoast japanese cars that are always at track days.
suspenseful stuff, man
To prevent the bushing from binding you should tighten those bolts at ride height. So tighten the ball joint and use a floor jack and a block of wood under the control arm keep lifting with the floor jack until you see the vehicle start to come off the jacks supporting the chassis. Or measure spindle to fender on the ground and duplicate that measurement with the floor jack.
Nope. He put in polyurethane bushings. Don't need to worry about that on greased poly bushings, just factory style rubber bushings.
Good tires. Have a set of RT615K+ myself and love them.
It pains me seeing him put so much money into an escort but then again it’s something new so thumbs up 👍🏼
Ae86 Trueno think of it as the american MR2. They’re really good cars, handle well.
ford expedition it’s something weird but new so I can dig it
The boost started pulling them out. Happened on mine. Easy fix was a nut and bolt combo.
Should have just plasti welded the IM nuts in. You can get a tube of it and it will hold the nuts in place it is an amazing epoxy and dries like black plastic
I live in Virginia too. I used to race with Nasa in Spec Miata!! I love VIR
Should have some epoxy to glue the insert into the manifold.
I tried. Didn't work.
That intake issue happened to a buddy of mine while working on his car. We just used JB weld putty.
I love these videos, as a fellow zetec cougar & escort owner; keep them coming!
3:27 damn that car moves;;)
I know I've said this before but I'll say it again, sick escort bro
The Ford escort was a underrated car in its time the GT version
Yes please make a video about that alignment tool.
Geeze you are amazing. I would've been done for the day
JB weld those fittings back in to hold the TB on ... track day life
donde consigo los spoilers del escort
Clean escort.
Use medium strength thread-locker on screws so they don't get loose.
Hell yeah man VIR is a sweet track
I mean, just my opinion but I would have just drilled the hole where the metal inserts are and put bolts on the back side.
Or just epoxied the inserts back in
you could have got a $5 thing of super krazy glue, the kind that instantly bonds. i used that stuff to glue a shell ejector in a .22cal magnum pistol i made from an old cooey barrel held for few thousand rounds of 1800fps loads. so if you krazy glued those nuts into the manifold they would never be coming back out.
what happened with the legacy wagon? I miss the wagon
That escort looks so good
This car is a beauty
You've gone quite far with the Escort, I'm impressed! Perhaps you should start thinking about reliability though, just saying, considering the problems you're going through.
Motivational Music is 10/10
So did you keep the unintentional mirror delete ? lol
Its*
Go for Toyo R888R or another R tire for the track. It is night and day vs normal tires.
cuanto cuesta un turbo para scort 2000
Kaboom!!!
I had the exact same problem with my intake manifold on my 99 mustang (Ford problems, am I right?) And what I learned best was using red thread locker and let it cure over night. I've been driving the car like that for about 6 months and it hasn't popped out since. I hope this helps!
Should've just superglued those inserts into the manifold. Super glue is incredibly strong!
Ben I love your zx2 and I can tell your proud of it can't wait to see it in action again in the next track day video also just curious did you replace your blown struts?
I'm pretty sure that no modified car is ever ready for the track sooner than like 48 hours in advance. I've barely done anything to my NSX (comparatively) and I've been doing the track thing for 12 years....and I STILL ended up thrashing with 3 days left to cure a misfire, and fix an electrical gremlin :(
could you have used jb weld or some other type of epoxy on the intake?I know it doesn't matter now that you have the new engine😎
Love your Videos!! Also I am really thinking of going the Supercharger way and was Wondering if you know of any Models that would work for My 98 ZX2??
I want to tub out my cobalt and make a project like this. Built and boosted.
This makes me so mad. I had one of these cars, nearly identical colour and I loved it. I always wanted to do something like this.
That was the fastest 0-60 time I've seen in an escort, or any car really.
I would have just put some JB weld on those metal inserts, or some other quick setting thing.
Hello I'm from Portugal and normally i don't reply to you tube videos, but i really can relate to you because I'm doing all the work on my car by my own and learning in the process, I haven't turbo charge or anything more "brutal" because I don't no how to tune, if you don't mind telling me, how and were have you learn how to tune? Thank you
I’m building a 2002 zx3 with the zetec full race car. I’m building it turbo here in Florida. I used to work in a race car team so. I have quite experience in the construction of a race car. You may can help me. Which throttle body are you using? How did you do with the cams and sprockets? Did you drill those and put something to do not make them turn? . Do you know what I mean. It’s kind of hard to explain lol. English mu second language 😂
I love your Chanel! I saw this video like 5 times already thanks in advance
How did you get the front-front lower control arm bushings out? I couldn't find a way to get them angled properly for pressing.
Also, how did you get the front right control arm off? When I tried to get the bolt out, the oil pan was in the way...
just curious but for anyone willing to answer this question how did you guys get into cars and how did you learn how to take care/build your car ?
These videos make me want to go and buy another ZX2 to play with.
goukizx2 do it they are cheap and fun to drive, I enjoy my zx2 s/r and would recommend getting another one
Aye! Are you the guy that did the getrag swap on his sr?
Gears and Gasoline That was not me. I just had one of the first Esslinger heads with prototype cams. I think in order to do the getrag transmission you need to change the lower cradle of the engine the same for the MTX75.
i had a insert like that that came lose once and i just epoxy it back is was fine after that
Dem wheeellss lookiiinngg gooood
I would of used Quick cure epoxy to fix that intake manifold. $5 fix. I always have one in in my tool box ;)
I actually caught one of your videos as it came out lol
i remember you had trouble with transmissions, is the focus trans a little stronger than the escorts? also the focus trans gear selectors are driven by cables i dont know if that would be better but it would be something to look into
Nice work
Love it!
Interesting to see a built Escort. These always had a reputation for being utter trash. Cool car though. I like that people are willing to go out and do something different from the majority.
Time to upgrade to a metal intake mani? I forget if there is one available. Since i left the zx2 platform. Still love your car man.
love to have those old wheels :)
Were you at VIR in the beginning of the video? Just found your channel, and subscribed. Greetings from Staunton!
