Great job, respect! Just a tip: I like to place black rubber tape along the windshields fragile lower edge after wipers & plastics are removed, it sticks out, waiting, longing, tempting a slight bump from the ratchet, a hose, anything is possible; I've bumped 2, in my days, I even told myself that it was going to be an issue, both ended drastically. Doesn't take very much force at all! Cheers!

Nice video! 3th gens prius are not the worse however if properly maintain and head gasket replace when it should have been this engine would have seen many more miles to go! Far as the best gen is 2nd gen 04-09 would probably be my pick!

Yes. It is a good engine with a poorly spec'd head gasket from the factory. But the 3rd gen's also have soft oil rings on the cylinders - leading to oil consumption (and some feel extra EGR loop carbonization). Therefore, some are swapping in the Gen 4 engines which solve a lot of problems. Others are getting the improved post 2015 Toyota oil rings placed on the cylinder heads of their 3rd gen motor, (also people - do the water pump - the plastic impeller can fail suddenly and there is not temperature warning light).

Great job, I think you know a lot about Prius, I have a 2012 Prius and my traction control light came on then my friend hooked up his scanner and now the VSC, brake and one other light came on and can’t figure out what happened and how to turn it off. Thank you.

Sounds like you have a brake actuator going out. What did the codes say?

@@carhub2178 C1345, C1451….but its wierd how my friend hooked up his scanner to read the code on the traction control light and then the other 3 lights came on.

I had my 2011 prius engine swapped for total of 2800$ becuz it kept burning oil every 2k miles drove no more oil on oil stick. My 2010 prius coolant was getting into my sparkplugs. It had a knock on the engine during cold starts. Same guy fixed it for 800$ im thinking the headgasket

I junked my 2010 Prius for the same reason. The engine was toast, but there was also pretty good under carriage body rot and just general wear so It wasn't worth fixing the engine. I also had the sticking rings-oil burning issue, EGR-intake manifold issue, etc. Good but not great car.
