I am 63 years “young”, and the first time I scored tickets to a Pink Floyd experience was 7/4/77. To score tickets you had to go to Central Park, to the big lawn, and wait for the Pig blimp to drop “lottery” tickets. If you were lucky enough to get one you could buy up to 4 seats at Madison Square Garden. We did. I was 16. It was an amazing experience and not a concert. Thanks for your great reaction ❤️
Saw them '77. KCMO did WYWH album and all of Animals. Encore- Money. 20$ ticket. My roomate came with. He fell asleep. Had to wake him up for Pig. He was into disco at the time. 🙄
I was there! This concert was the Division Bell tour of North America & Europe. When this concert was performed at Giants Stadium in New Jersey, I was there. I cannot articulate in words the feelings I had during this performance. It was like my soul was transported to a higher dimension. I recall shouting and almost crying "This cannot be real! This cannot be happening!" I'm so grateful for RUclips providing the means so that those who were not there can get a taste of this life changing experience.
The beauty of Pink Floyd's music is that you can hear each instrument individually and clearly. It's not just mixing, but the architecture of the songs that allow everything to breathe properly.
These guys have captured the meaning of life and have been sharing this since long before my days. I seen them here in Belgium for the Division Bell concert... There are no words except maybe : over succeeded, musical perfection. And your listening experiences age like wine. When young it's just awesome music but as you get older, touched by life, happiness, sadness, gain & loss and all that has passed.... it becomes really super-emotional listening to them.. in an awesome way.
Right? His guitar is like a voice - as the human voice is also a musical instrument ❤ It’s not just super talent, it’s soooooo beautiful. I’ve heard this brilliant song very many times since it was new and I think you’re right about this too: this concert seems particularly epic, partly BECAUSE so many years have gone by and it has become even MORE recognised and appreciated as brilliant - the audience KNOWS they’re experiencing greatness.
I was at this concert. One of the most amazing experiences of my life. You are right about the bass, you could feel it in your whole body. The whole gig washed over you, it was phenomenal!! Sam Brown was one of the backing singers. She was amazing too.
This song is about Syd. He was an original member, singer, guitarist and song writer. He unfortunately took an LSD trip and never really came back. RIP Syd!
I was 18 in 1973, graduated high school to the young Pink Floyd (after Sid left) and saw them perform Dark Side of the Moon in Madison, WI in ‘74. One of the highlights of my now 69 year old life. Imagine having this music as the soundtrack of one’ youth. This is what we had in the 70s. We were so lucky!
I saw Pink Floyd live three times. also the Pulse concert in Cologne in 1994. So it's been thirty years. Nevertheless, you never forget these moments. Anyone who has ever experienced Pink Floyd live knows what perfection means. After that everything else is just music. Pink Floyd, on the other hand, is art
Pink Floyd is a great band to see live , it’s a experience you can’t compare to anything You mentioned the ladies doing the backing vocals , you should do a reaction to “ a great gig in the sky “ i am sure you will love it
I love David Gilmour's finesse on the guitar. Such smooth but restrained power seems to just float from the strings his fingers manipulate. Almost like a predator that just ate every bite of his meal and looks completely relaxed but in reality is ready for any surprise that requires an immediate response.
Oh we got our monesy worth. I think I paid 38bucks....stook in line at 3:00 AM to be the first in the box office. Got center stage 7th row......This event will always be seared in my memory. It was not a concert, but a spiritual journey.....and floyd is better live they they are in the studio.....and their studio work is impeccable.
Oh I have! There are plenty of people who find them dull, overblown, overrated; and who reserve particular scorn for drummer Nick Mason, saying he's stolid and unimaginative. I think they're wrong, but they're out there - and this includes people I know who otherwise have great taste in music.
Richard Parry (born 22 December 1942) is an English saxophonist. He has appeared as a session musician on various albums, most notably in solo parts on the Pink Floyd songs "Money", "Us and Them", "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and "Wearing the Inside Out".[1][2] He also played on the Bloodstone album Riddle of the Sphinx.[3]
I've been a huge fan of Pink Floyd since my early 20's. I am now nearing 72 and still a huge fan. I have followed their music since they first started.
This was a phenomenal concert! It was so good I had to see it twice! Shine On is a masterpiece! I recommend you listen to original recorded version as well, parts 1-9. David Gilmour is a guitar god that when combined with Rick Wright and Nick Mason, doesn't get any better! These guys have an insane amount of talent as a band and individually.
Yes, that is Rick Wright on the keys. Maybe the Mellotron. Dick Parry on sax (holding 2), has been playing with PF for a long time. Loved your reaction!
Always nice to see your reaction, I saw them in Montreal in 1994 for that tour.. With lots of substances.....out of this world, life changing experience
The Wonderful Tribute to founding member Syd Barrett. He was forced to rerire and leave the band due to health concerns. His story is so very captivating and tragic. Welcome to the world of Pink Floyd. Enjoy the trip
The "trumpet" is actually a saxophone. He swaps from a bass sax for the lower notes to a tenor sax for the higher notes. The keyboard parts are played on a synthesizer. Synths have been around since the late 60s and became very popular during the 80s with bands like Depeche Mode, Human League and Gary Numan among many others. I had a few myself, a Roland SH09 a Roland Juno 60 and when they went from analogue to digital I got the obligatory Yamaha DX7. Think of them as a piano that you can get any sound from including wind, helicopters, explosions etc. I've been a multi instrumentalist for over 50 years, so if you have any questions let me know and I'll do my best to fill you in. ✌❤🇬🇧
I believe that’s a baritone sax and then either an alto or tenor sax. They look so similar it’s hard to see. My son’s a saxophonist and plays alto for the most part; although he can play all of them.
@@Kristina-jf4hd sax is a very expressive instrument. I don't know how old your son is but I hope he keeps going with it. Man you got it right. The pulse tour as extraordinary. This is 30 years old, the Lightshow was the first that was computerized, anything like this had been unheard of before (and has never been pulled up ever since, at least to my knowledge). If you loved this: check out „Comfortably numb“ (best guitar solo ever played on this planet), „High hopes“ (nostalgia keeps you speechless) or „Great gig in the Sky“, which especially features the 3 backing vocal ladies! And yes, everyone who was lucky to have witnessed this in person tells his grandchildren about it…!
I enjoyed your reaction, may I suggest that you check out the entire Pulse concert, I believe you will enjoy every minute of it, I'm also pretty sure that you will have those goose bumps from start to finish, Please continue to see how far the Pink Floyd rabbit hole goes, it's a journey that I'm sure you will be glad you took, God Bless.
The saxophonist switched from a baritone sax to a tenor sax. The musicians were masterful in switching from slower tempo to faster tempo then switching seamlessly back to the slower tempo very smoothly.
I saw them with that big screen behind them, had good seats, got the tickets from a scalper at work. it was better than i thought it would be. in chicago.
You are beginning to see. This music lives is the minds of every 50 to 80 year old person in the world. That grandpa you see on the corner with his walker ... that woman in the grocery store holding onto the cart to sfeady herself.... all those people LIVED this music and it is never far from our minds. We gave it to you. Its yours now.
This is the opening track for an almost 3 hour long concert, you think that it can't get better than that but it does, every song is top notch add in the lights and other things and we definitely got our moneys worth and then some, I was on cloud 9 for a week after I left the show. 🤯
I saw Pink Floyd 5 times starting with the Animals tour. I've seen a lot of shows by some of the absolute greatest. Pink Floyd had the best shows. Tied for second would be Rush and Supertramp.
Your right, a concert that would ( and is ) remarkable one of the best or decades, next year it is 30 years ago, and the song is even played for 55 years in concerts

Pure masterpiece you can not go wrong with pink Floyd i have seen Australian pink Floyd which are the next best thing to the original band and a bonus it was free ticket of my mate
Those are called "musicians," bc they are masters at multiple instruments. In stark contrast to those today who call themselves musicians, but are not.
You can't compare Pink Floyd with any other group. They are from another galaxy.
Well, at another level we got Jimi Hendrix ;)
@@tech4u2022Same thing... different galaxy... lol.
From a different dimension...
That's why they will always musically relevant just like Bach and Beethoven

Every guitar wants a David Gilmour for Christmas.

Pink Floyd is a class act. All are exceptional musicians and singers.

It was amazing. Was at New Orleans, both nights in Dallas, and ending in KC. 16yo and still one of the most memorable moments of my life.
Your joy brought me joy. Enjoy the Pink Floyd rabbit hole
Each musician significantly impacts the song, yet each gives space for the other to shine.
The beauty of Pink Floyd's music is that you can hear each instrument individually and clearly. It's not just mixing, but the architecture of the songs that allow everything to breathe properly.
What a GREAT reaction! Half a century later, and I still have PF music in my car ready to play. My young grandkids appreciate their genius!
