- Hey Everyone,
With the new Graphics cards coming out, I though we would do a service on my GTX 1080, something you should do as a basic courtesy when selling your old cards, or good practice when you buy a second hand one.

bro 110subs but so gooood thanks no other one used this card
Thank you. What is a good set of screwdrivers for this work? Or is there a hyperlink already provided that I missed?
Thanks for your help with cleaning gpu..I have a question.. Can I do same with my 1070 Gtx armor?
Yes you can! Obviously take care as with anything there are parts that can be easily damaged, but it will help with thermal performance.
armor cards have really bad thermal performance , look into a watercooling bracket
Did you saw a diference in temps?
I bought recently a GTX 1080 like yours (armor edition) and with 100% fan speed and a super soft oc to 2000mhz on the core and 350mhz on the memory (super stable) the card can go up to 74c. I was thinking in changing the thermal paste even tho if at last only drops the temps for a couple of degrees. Btw, the car only watching videos (with the fan off) can surpass 50c. Seems like the cooler is not the best.
In all honesty temps weren't that much better, maybe a couple of degrees, I think this card is just a bit of a toasty boi, it's still good to change the paste out eventually, as it can change how well it transfers heat over time, but its not a part of the yearly service, maybe every few years, yearly at least though, definitely clear out the dust.
@@insanestickergaming the card still has the original sticker intact in the screws (on the top of the gpu) so i guess it was never changed. im going to buy some MX-6 and see if i notice a diference in temps. I´ll let you know :D thanks for the feedback btw
@@rodrigo4379 perfect, please do, I'd be interested to see your results!
@@insanestickergaming quick update :) today I bought Artic MX-6 (since it seems it’s a pretty good paste from the reviews I’ve seen on the internet).
The results:
Stock paste (original from factory): 73C with 100% fan speed
New thermal paste (Artic MX-6): 64C with 100% fan speed
Basically almost got 10c lower than stock paste! I’ve used the same fan speed to have a consistent test :) now it’s running with a fan curve I’ve made with 68c 75% fan speed.
The card is running an overclock btw, with the PL at max (104%) and +90mhz on the core (2000mhz stable) and 350mhz on the memory.
Super happy with the results :))
@rodrigo4379 amazing results mate, I'll have to get some of that paste, I'm confident the cheap paste I used is where the results lack.
Good afternoon! What is the name of the screwdriver
Honestly I paid $5 for it at my local grocers. I would recommend an iFixit kit though, I'll be getting one of those soon.
