"I feel like this should've been easy for you, being Native American." Well, then. Every white man ever should be able to jump on a trampoline and serve up a fashionable interpretation of Sir Francis Drake on the spot! What even was that comment?!
Some racist BS geeze, and I am not the type to just throw that word out there. That's BS
That's a shoot I'd watch
Everyone knows non-whites are homogeneous. /s
Is this show still going? Can it be done. I wish the people involved no longer have influence in the industry. 🙄
Haha your analogy is sending me !
I would be shocked if that girl was even Powhatan. There are so many tribes. Such an ignorant comment.
I know Kelly did not just say “the hair - I just don’t buy it.” Are we all fully aware that the stylists did the hair ... I- 🥴🧐
Also the are jumping in the air so they really have no control over the hair
@@jadestpc Well it's not easy pose but you have to rock it. 💖
As well as the clothes they were in
Completely agree. Her comments didn't make any sense. They should have been directed to the stylists and creative directors, not models.
@@jadestpc literally like huh?? It’s gonna fly up and look weird most likely😂😂😂
During the photoshoot Jay told her to stop thinking about princess Diana and focus on modeling to produce a fashion image 14:14 ... then Tyra tells her she was not portraying princess Diana and instead she just looked like a model 16:16 HOW IS THIS NOT A JOKE? they don't even make sense and are always confusing the girls...
Classic misdirection... And also how they show the shooting process with some girl nailing it, and then picking a terrible photo of her and talking about it as if it was the only photo she took...
They have no idea what they are talking about
It's just for a shitty show
And they are sacrificing these girls for it
My thoughts EXACTLY!
And little girls all over the world ate it up. I watched the German version as a child and barley remember anything but pretty sure it’s not that much better either. My mother absolutely hated Heidi Klum and hated when I watched the show. Thankfully I never took it seriously and it never affected me.
Oh they straight up sabotage certain girls each challenge to get better ratings and views.
Did Nigel just tell Annalise that she looked too angry and aggressive when she's literally portraying SCARY spice?!?!
Also did you like how two seconds later the same model was told her face was showing no emotion?
I know right!!
Yesssssss that was the first thing that came to me.
I CAME HERE TO WRITE THIS LOL
Nigel is a literal boob 😴
These wardrobe decisions are what happens when you blow all your budget on 60 cameras...
hahahahahaha
Those wigs ...

💯💯💯💯
So true 😩😂
Jay’s direction kills me. He literally said “interact in a fashion way.” Wtf does that even mean???
like a model "don't forget your pretty"
Reminds me of drag queen Katya teaching her mom how to walk the runway and pose during a makeover challenge on Rupaul's Drag Race.
"Like you've got a headache, but make it fashion."
Mr. Jay is a make-up artist not a fashion director.
@@8ONJO55 I prefer Yu Tsai not Jay 🤢
Lololol
jackie kennedy vs princess diana looks more like legally blonde vs princess diaries .... they didn’t even try 😭
Spot on description dude. So much cringe on that one.
😂😂😂
Omg yess
🤣 Yes. It's easy looks but they just do random
I thought that exact same thing!
When did you ever see Jackie Kennedy in an animal print? What about a pillbox hat, solid pastel dress, and little cardigan with pearls? John Lennon managed to look like Sonny Bono. Nothing about the Elton John outfit referenced anything that would cause a viewer to associate it with Elton John. The styling is the biggest issue here.
I was shocked too so I googled it and I guess Jackie wore an animal print coat with a matching pill box hat sometimes, or a black hat but it was NOT her most prevalent or iconic look by any means, like you said. And even then it's the coat, not the dress. And the hat. Like they got the silhouette COMPLETELY wrong. Jackie Kennedy in a animal print mini-dress and a mini jacket al;sdkfj Get that jacket off and girl is ready to hit the club! Those stylists got it so wrong, I just. What were they thinking? Did they even know who half these people were???? You are so right that the styling is the biggest issue in this shoot. You know what I bet they did it deliberately to sabotage the girls.
If I had to guess who they were supposed to be, i would have failed like 80%.
Elton had a midriff. Not saying he'd be completely opposed, but not a style choice I'm aware of. The colors were fine, not the clothing. Much like everyone else. Some intern definitely got told to go to party city.
I also thought of Sonny before they said John Lennon. And it's SO easy to do an iconic John look - white suit, longer hair, better glasses, done. If you want psychedelic, go sgt pepper uniform. It's so easy. But almost all costumes looked extremely cheap and stupid, the only ones I really liked were Elisabeth I. and Andy Warhol - the latter mainly because his actual wig looked artificial too, so that worked. Maybe the Thatcher outfit, but not as Thatcher? Maybe Madonna.
Jackie O is a disgrace. Elton John looked like me when I was 7 and dressing up with random stuff from our fancy dress box without any actual costume in mind.
@@minaermelyn thatcher’s wig looked more like princess di’s hair than thatcher.
"Let's do this cheap photoshoot that looks like a 6 yo dress up party, but we will do it with 60 super expensive cameras, so it seem pRoFfesSioNal"
Yep, they actually don't get it together very often 🤣🤣🤣
After cycle 16 everything turns cheap and tacky.
Yeah they definitely blew their budget on the cameras and had to cheap out on wardrobe.
Nigel's comment about how it should have been easy for a Native woman to portray a Native woman is applicable to most contestants who had to portray an iconic person from their home country, make it make sense!!
Also "native american" doesn't mean ALL tribes. That outfit was a costume and not even a real outfit, but still ridiculous to assume all indigenous people are the same?
@@Cee944 for real!
Nigel is ignorant
The John Lennon one dealt the BEST with the trampoline situation and I absolutely can't understand why she was picked
YES! The leg was in such a cool position and the overall pose just felt like it was a jumping musician in the moment. If that was a campaign, this would have made me look at it the most (This and the first girl who had such a cool pose aswell)
She deserved better. They all did.
It's easy... They either didn't knew what they were doing or they knew it pretty well.... If you know what I mean.
This blew my mind like HOW?
Because they decide who they are sending home before the photo shoots..
That was the best pose!
"You didn't embody a smidgeon of that." "Well neither did the stylist..." FACTS.
"Be Scary Spice" Nigel: You look too angry and aggressive. *facepalm*
And as a stylist and makeup artist the concepts and looks we're not pulled off very well by the team. For real lazy
For real, the outfits mostly look very costumey.
As a non-stylist/hairdresser I’ve done better half-arsed last minute Halloween costumes.
@@littleflick exactly. That's what got me thinking that they do this to the girls sometimes to humiliate them for raitings. I have noticed several shoots that were like this and then the rest are atleast decent to good. But this was so bad it looked planed
Aside from everything looking like a cheap costume, who's idea was it to put most of the girls in really tight clothes?? The reason the queen elizabeth picture works is that the outfit is flowy!! It looks good when jumping and allows more freedom for the model 🤷🏻♀️
Fr lazy and so cheap for such a popular tv show , what a waste
So, Nigel, you're going to tell a native American woman she had it easy in a party city pocahontas costume. What in the microaggressions?
And this from a guy who is himself bi-racial. Just unbelievable.
Not only that, but it’s just like saying it should be easy for any white American to play some historical figure from 200 years ago.
Fr
This isnt even microaggressions anymore, it's just flat out racist
That "John Lennon" outfit looked like a generic Hippie costume from the 99cent store.... like really? Her pose with the guitar was amazing! All the judges are JOKES! Bad ones!
seriously it’s giving hippy halloween costume from party city
Didn't they just recycle Jael's outfit from the cross-dressing photoshoot?
As a huge Beatles fan that looks like someone said Lennon and the stylist chose everything based on the memories they had of a random hippie they saw 20 years ago in a magazine
“Ok we’re gonna do John Lennon next”
Stylist: “Austin Powers, gotcha”
I know right, where is the iconic suit and Beatles mop from their early career? Or the Segent Peppers jacket?
Right? And Princess Diana looked like Breakfast At Tiffany's. And Jackie Kennedy with a leopard print dress? What? I like a good animal print like the next girl but that style was NOT in Jackie's wardrobe, she would never.
Yea I was so disappointed too ahah
@@badvamp666 lmfao !!
This photo shoot looks like an Old Navy commercial, but the budget version.
Bwahahaha
The budget of a budget lol
Old Gravy lol
😂😂😂😂
The Princess Diana outfit looked more like Audrey Hepburn to me.
Same, but not even the real Audrey. Moreso when Jennifer Love Hewitt was obsessed with her and dressed up as her to get papped at Tiffany's
Audrey Hepburn on a budget. The costumes looked so cheap, I can't even 🤦🏻♀️
Yes! Like playing dress up as breakfast at Tiffany's.
@@marlyd 😂😂😂😂 this is funny
Bruh, the John Lennon picture -besides the costume- was fire and an amazing pose
I agree! The pose is amazing!
and the face was perfect! I'm one of those embarrassing gen z who can't name a single song by The Beatles (its embarrassing cause I'm 20 lol) but even I'd think John Lennon looking at just the face.
wtf i actually liked the john lennon photo the most - the pose was so good
Okay, so I am also a photographer and LITERALLY the John Lennon girl had the best one. It was a dynamic pose, I can't believe she was able to get it on that little baby trampoline, and it's stupid it was in the bottom.
They were obviously reaching on their criticism of the John Lennon photo. There was an agenda from the beginning. To me that was by far the best photo hands down.
Not dressing Jackie in her signature Chanel or Diana on her revenge dress (both of wich are iconic) was a CHOICE
Though I will say the 3D pictures are an amazing concept
I will *FOREVER* be mad about this.
Jackie Kennedy would've never worn a mini-dress in animal print and with a loud orange jacket.
They want the models to give fashion interpretations of these people yet the show can’t even be bothered to give them fashion interpretations of the damn *outfits* 🤦🏻♂️
why did they start with pairings that kind of made sense like George Washington and Elizabeth I, iconic leaders, and then we get duos like..... Pocahontas and John Lennon??
I'm guessing.... John and Pocahontas are thought of as freedom fighters maybe?
ah yes, the best of ships
Pocahontas and John Lemon
Then, ironically they both immiggrated to and died in the opposite country under tragic circumstances after enduring tremendous terror there.
The judge’s comments about the concept not making sense make me think the shoot wasn’t actually fully explained to her before judging and that she actually believed the models had a choice in who they were portraying?? I’m amazed that nobody corrected her and that her comment made it into the show because it’s an obvious mistake.
This shoot was bizarre. Like they put this all together last minute and expected them to transform that mess with no direction. 🙄
Yep i prefer Yu Tsai not jay he looks mess a lot.
it’s almost offensive to the people they’re portraying tbh

Me a brit: Thank you darling, I love you too.

Dahling
Idk why I read that in a tan France voice lol
I'm confused: what's the connection between Pocahontas and John Lennon? All the other pairs had some sort of connection but those two don't make sense to me, am I just missing something?
Mushrooms..
I legitimately think the only reason they picked Pocahontas was because the model was Native and they wanted to be racist to get ratings. Wouldn't be the first time
When John Lennon went for his solo career outside of The Beatles, he released a song called "Imagine" and Yoko Ono starred in the music video, which became very well known (a lot of people view it as cultural relevant/iconic for a music video). In the video, Yoko Ono is dressed as an indigenous woman. As a result, most people who are familiar with the song and music video relate/connect John Lennon with Yoko Ono dressed as a native woman. I think that is what this photoshoot was trying to "emulate" although it really didn't come across well in the costuming.
It would have probably been better for the creative team to just have the other model be Yoko Ono rather than Pochantes, since (as far as I know) Yoko Ono wasn't specifically trying to dress up as a particular native person for the music video. There is a lot that could be discussed about that music video by itself, but this photoshoot handled the concept so poorly on top of that!
If you would like to check out the video, you can find a copy by searching on RUclips "John Lennon Imagine (Official Music Video 1971)"
@@KatDoll2010 thank you for sharing 💛!
they just hated those two
And remember when Jay said “Just forget about Princess Diana”......
I think Jay forgot that princess Diana was a fashion icon, he should have encouraged her to get into that role.
They could have used a full sized trampoline and shot them individually, then composited the pairs, as there is nothing but a blank white background!
Cher would have made more sense with John Lennon than Pocahontas.
Yeah or someone from the same time as Pocahontas. IDK didn't Pocahontas met a Queen of England somewhere during her life?
THANK YOU! I was thinking that same thing
As an historian I feel like many of those characters were pretty much impossible to work with. George washington in mini skirt jumping in the air? Jackie Kennedy in a leopard print one shoulder dress? It's so hard to portray an historical figure with a good outfit, getting their body language right, now add to that those shitty costumes and trampoline... that's just unfair. Also, many of those characters have nothing to do with each other, which makes the photo as a whole (and I'm sure the modelling for it too) very odd to look at. Andy Warhol and Amy Winehouse? John Lenon and Pocahontas? Those pairs are so confusing and if I was the models I'd be thrown off by that.
Good to know that as a Scandinavian I should be able to whip out a perfect Viking portrayal at any moment...just because I’m Scandinavian...and its easy for me.
Annaliese is portraying SCARY SPICE and they say she looks "angry" (she does not). Mel B had heaps of attitude and was in your face sassy and loud. What did the judges want? Not to mention it is hard to control your face when jumping! Have you ever seen a gymnast or figure skater captured while doing jumping element? They sometimes make really weird faces. And these girls are not trained, so it's even harder for them.
The concept could actually have been really cool with great styling and actual full size trampolines
Concept for this photo shoot -
- 3D photos
- Portraying historical figures (in awful costumes)
- Juxtaposed against another model portraying an, at best, tangentially related historical figure from a different country
Oh also make them do it while jumping on a trampoline!
🤦🤣🤣🤣 yep, it's like super surreal to said the least.
I thought the concept was quite cool. The execution on the other hand... The styling was atrocious with few exceptations, direction was completely missing, fake rivalry created with the duo photos and then it's somehow the models' fault they didn't do a good job. Typical ANTM 🤦
😂
George Washington on a trampoline is such an odd phrase hahahahaha
Never getting over how they styled Alisha as Elton John and Jasmia as John Lennon...
I love Catherine as Queen Elizabeth I 😂 Her face brings me the idea that she's about to take some Spanish Armada down 😂
I watched Mr. Jay's video about this season with Sophie. He revealed production was throwing crazy ideas, which included this terrible photoshoot. Mr. Jay didn't hide that he was over the show. Annaliese also interviewed Catherine, Ashley, and Laura. They admitted the photoshoots were quite odd
Where can one see that?

"SIXTY CAMERAS? They're probably not even gonna pay the photographers for this one." I HOLLERED 🤣
Jessica, you should react to Kelly Cutrone VS Louise on this season. It is an iconic moment.
What episode is that? I'll take a look!
@@JessicaKobeissi it's episode 3.
The photoshoot was interesting too because the girls had to style the set and themselves.
But the drama with Kelly was so uncalled for and ridiculous! Would love to see your opinion.

@ 20:02
it's so weird that he feels that pocahontas' character is limited to being native american?? like just bcs the model was native american does not mean that she could have 100% accurately portrayed her character easily. also him saying that she isn't showing any angst or passion is him enforcing a stereotype that all native americans are aggressive like*?? idk bro this show just keeps showing us why it's so problematic :(
*idk if this is him saying that she's not showing enough feeling to portray pocahontas or native americans as "a whole" but yall get the point
Yep. I thought the same thing.
They really didn't know enough black American female and black British female icons for them to dress up as...not to mention how terrible they were all styled.
Periodt. So sad.
exactly what I was thinking!
ikr I'm literally indonesian and I can name more than 10 black women who are considered as icons
Ashley looks more like the Queen of Genovia than Princess Diana. That stylist was all over the place. 🤦🏻♀️
"they fired me but then hired me back because they fired someone else" literally Miss J
As a big enough Elton stan to have his portrait tattooed on my arm, I cannot with ANTM’s Party World interpretation of the man. Also putting him against Madonna? How do they even compare? It’s apples to oranges.
Elton has an insane amount of iconic looks, even if u can't replicate the super complicated outfits he has many that are so simple, it is embarrassing to see what they decided to put on that poor model.
They’re both singers from roughly the same era. So, I don’t think that pairing is off. Definitely Pocahontas vs John Lennon was wtf. Not sure how they relate.
They're both famous singers and fashion icons? I mean queen Elizabeth and George Washington are different too
@@marianne5055 Some comment mentioned a connection maybe based on the song imagine where Johns wife yoko ono dressed up as a native in the music video. Even while Yokos Outfit wasn't a really stereotypical Pocahontas outfit but just a white dress, a white headband and necklace

using her native lineage against her, was completely ridiculous.
how dare you not live up to my stereotype of your ethnicity!
she was the first (and I think only?) native american contestant on this show. They needed to do SOMETHING
Better than doing black face type thing with Pocahontas and a white model. Don't get me wrong this whole photo shoot is a competition in cringe
@@ClaudetteVioletta tbh I think she was the second (if you count one of the girls from another season being black and Native American as the first), but Mariah is the one indigenous model from ANTM that we kind of remember. The other Afro-indigenous model (I think her name was Britanny) got a little far, but I don’t remember the cycle she was on though
I love how ANTM is like. " Oh your Native American? * puts in pocahantas outfit* Like they couldnt of chose anyone else? there are other Native american Icon/ role models. This just pisses me off cause theyve done this more than once i can bet you.

Once they said someone's gonna be Pocahontas and then giving it to a girl with native American roots, I was like: Oh no please. Not again! This is already questionable but you will make it worse and worse. I can already feel it - And then it was time for the final pictures...
Why would a Native American feel comfortable in a racist costume, portraying a child that was stolen and murdered? I need to watch every season and write down every racist and culturally insensitive comment, concept, etc. I don’t care how long ago this show started, the judges need to be held accountable for all of this.

Here's something, a competition of makeup artist, models and photographers. Because I feel the makeup and photographers really divest for some girls. If their technique was put on the block too and call out some bad takes.
This is why I appreciate stuff like Face Off. Amazing FX makeup competition.
Jay literally told the girl as princess Diana to just pose fashionably and not think about Princess Diana at some point and then they critique her for not looking like Princess Diana like what 🤨
I am legit horrified at the styling for jackie Kennedy. I feel like the stylist saw “Ke-“ on the sheet and went OMG WE’RE GOING TO STYLE HER LIKE KENDALL JENNER!!!
Please do the cycle 15 fallen angel photoshoot!
That photoshoot result was so confusing!
I remember while they were doing the pictures it seemed to be going amazingly well for all the models and then when we got to judging all the pictures looked horrible except maybe two of them. Kayla's was amazing!
Jessica: "Well, what am I saying, I'm not a stylist."
Yeah girl, but you have EYES. I actually love the concept of the shoot but those OUTFITS my goodness. And blaming the models for not looking the part.... as if they styled themselves... the heck.
This is my favorite subject matter that you create videos on. I so needed this today! Love your vids girl!
I am not native American but I am a racial equality activist, and I have a problem with this challenge. Everyone else is a celebrity or people who have made history, and even though Pocahontas made history it's for all the wrong reasons, she was forced to marry some old white man when she was very underage. She isn't someone you should be doing a fashion photoshoot on. Not only that but culture should NEVER be a costume , that costume looked cheap and un authentic. I've seen some comments of native American people saying the same thing but if you think I'm out of line or incorrect please educate me.

The Jackie O outfit was The. Worst. Even in her post-Kennedy days, she never ever wore animal prints.
I LOVED the lennon picture, she had such a great pose…
As a HUGE Spice Girls myself , the styling they gave Annaliese is not even Mel B signature look ... She should have platform shoes from the 90´s , the hair horns she had in Spice Up Your Life music video and the army pants and army top .. Then I would think it was Mel B , just a leopard dress and puffy hair? No ..
And back in the days she didn't even wear dresses, she had so many iconic looks they could've picked but no?! NO???!!! As a SG fan since the 90s, I'm insulted. 😤
“Yeah you’re too harsh and look angry in this photo... yes I know we told you to be Scary Spice”
The judges are just so terrible at judging it makes it feel so unprofessional.
Jessica, I am loving your videos and what you are doing with looking at the photo shoots and giving us all a chance to really see what is going on and how the photographers and judges talk to the models. I love your thoughts and input-you are knowledgeable and funny!!
The girl who did John Lennon did the best out of what she was given. Best photo out of the bunch. Stood out and memorable. The fact that then sent her home even after acknowledging her photo was better...I can't with this show.
Thanks, Jessica for coming in clutch when I needed something to occupy my mind 💓💜💓💜💓
I honestly wish Tyra or anyone of the judges would sit down talk to you about this show and answer questions. None of them seem to see a problem with the behavior on this show and you are the only one calling them out on it!
Jackie Kennedy wearing a short shiny animal print dress? Yes, nailed it 😂
OH MY DAYES!!! You did it!! OK gonna put some time aside to get fully into this. This shoot as gotta be up there with the worst shoots of ANTM Lol
Why is your comment underrated Annaliese. You're literally a top model legend. You appeared as a contestant on 2 different NTM franchises and went on to become the narrator for a few cycles of BNTM. You deserve more love here 🤩
How are you gunna tell someone they're too timid when they're portraying Princess Diana? Has he never seen an interview of her?
The more of these I watch the MADDER I get at this show.

Party City - I'm dying! You were cracking me up with this one!
As a Native kid, I will never forgive how ANTM treated or portrayed us. Why can't industries leave Matoaka alone?...
Well as a white person, I want there to be fashion phots of your people and other minorities but you guys wear so much more then what shows portray you as. Like I don’t wear colonial clothes or lederhosen ever or even if I do, it’s not always something so historical or something cheap picked up at a party store for 15 bucks. If we are going to represent a people, then it needs to be highly researched and represented by your people, it needs to be authentic and true to form and also showcase what your people wear now and shows what you guys are made of. Both past and present like everyone else. You have every right to be mad at industries exploiting your people who do not show that respect to them.
I really don't understand Andy Warhol versus Amy Winehouse and Pocohontas versus John Lennon.
Literally the only explanation I could derive was their initials are the same: AW.
