    Your love for dogs shows. I feel the same way and just got the 425xs as a TRAINING aide not as a tool for punishment. Thank you for the video.

    I was on the fence about ordering one until I watched this. Who knows how well these are calibrated so I am planning to do the same test. It was cool to see someone take the time and care to do the same.

      Thanks Mike. My dog is my best friend and I don’t wish to ever be cruel to him. But I do think there is a responsible way to use these to keep him safe. He’s two and a half now and wears the collar occasionally when he’s off leash at the lake. Everyone is always amazed how I just beep it 3 times and he comes right back to my side and sits. The tone really takes his focus off what ever he is distracted with when I think he getting too far…and the nice thing is I’m never “that guy” standing there shouting for my dog to come lol.

      @@sfnomad2337 Same with my guy, he's my bud. He's only 10 months old and really friendly. My main issue is on walks. When another dog comes around, or a toddler for that matter, he goes nuts trying to say hi. GSD / Lab and already 80lbs. When he goes full clip it hits hard on the shoulder when that leash goes tight. If it's slick and muddy or icy out, I'm hitting the ground. I'm really hoping this thing snaps him out of the drive to steamroll whatever excites him.

  • @SkyFreek60
    @SkyFreek60 3 года назад +5

    Good video! I think a lot of people go wrong because they don't let the dog wear the collar without being "corrected" long enough (should let them wear it several days before the first correction). Then they wonder why their dog goes back to bad behavior as soon as the collar is removed. The dog associates the correction with the collar, rather than his actions. Don't know that many people will want to try it on themselves :) but have found that, when using for the first time (following several days of them wearing it) and dog is misbehaving, it is good to start at the lowest setting and then work up until the dog responds. Our dog loved getting her collar on because it usually meant we were going to have fun. It was a good tool to tackle certain habits that were otherwise hard to address from afar.

    Excellent video. Just starting to look at options for training collars after one too many scary moments. I have a very active (backpacking, canoeing, hiking), very stubborn dog, but we aren't really into hunting. Would you recommend this for more general active dogs or is it specific for hunting?

    • @sfnomad2337
      @sfnomad2337  3 года назад +3

      Honestly for you this would be a great collar. You said you’re active and around water quite a bit. This one is waterproof and good for use on all dogs. Since you aren’t using it for hunting you an save yourself a little money by not buying it in camo. Just get an orange one, and use the money you save to buy a few treats for your dog! 😃

    So, your nice man however I installed the boundary wire..walked the yard w dog a few times...and turned it up..all the way up...He got vibe shocked few times...and likely got vibe many more times... however now he will not cross no matter what... with the remote he understands vibe warning is real and he must correct now. He is Dalmatian deaf can't allow him to make to the road can hear cars coming.
    He will have a lifetime of happy well trained life.. so the pain of collar was worth it.
    Alls I'm saying turning it way down can just prolong the training .. few high level bites...and it saves many low level bites.
    Then just vibs.

      I totally understand where you’re coming from. However, your situation is totally different. It all depends on the dog and the situation. I saw a hunting dog ruined in a day by a guy with a collar turned up too high. All dogs have different sensitivity and responses. And I do believe that a well trained dog is safer and happier 😁. My dog doesn’t need much correction on anything. He pretty much just doesn’t want to disappoint me. Today he’s about 15 months old and he probably hasn’t even had the collar on for 4 months and he hasn’t needed anything but a tone for probably 8 months so to me my method worked. But I could see where you would need a different approach. As always though, thanks for the comment. All input is appreciated and I’m glad it worked for ya! Hope your pup has a happy long life!

    Well said, you sound like you really care for your animals/companions. I would like to believe people would go about using this tool with common sense and restraint, but let's be honest with ourselves, common sense seems to not only be uncommon but possibly on the brink of extinction. I hope your video gets a lot more views and is taken seriously by anyone thinking of using this product. Like you said, it could save your dogs life one day. Restraint is key, but you explained it all in your video most excellently. It's a shame that there are sadistic idiots out there that will use this in some cruel manner, so I'm sure there will be narrow minded folks that are totally against this product, probably the same folks that believe that the only way to kill something or someone is with a gun and banning them would magically cure mankind from killing each other. If I wanted to take someone out, a gun is in no way a necessity and if I was a sick POS that got off on hurting man's best friend, I seriously doubt that those type of people would cough up the type of cash it takes to purchase one of these items and resort to something like a stick (the thought of someone like that angers me in a way that only the likes of a chester the molester would and if I came across one of those types a firearm would probably be my last choice, proving my point earlier. Good job and last thing, I thought it was awesome how you tested out the product, just to gauge what you thought the animal could take and like you said you wouldn't do anything to a dog you wouldn't do to yourself.
