Wow, that interior, wow, what a nice car and superb materials, this is premium, thumbs up for lexus!!!
The room in the back seat in small cars is always overreacted. Nobody will buy this category car if you have 6 feet children or carry grown ups often. This is a car for 1-2 people, not a family car.
What a classy looking vehicle and being a Lexus, you know it will be reliable.
Should have been a EV. Toyota is late and superior cars like ZeekrX, Smart#1 Chery Omoda5 are about to land on European shores very soon
It's a moronic vehicle for idiots.
@@ciybersal9833 shill all you can ,nobody gives a damn about ev hoax ,especially garbage made in china
Yep I might consider this one for the next. Classy looks, reliable and it's a hybrid that we all need for the next several years
Nice looking car. Lexus cars are just getting better and better. I am on my second now and will be buying a third in the next year or two. If I go smaller, this will be high on my list of possibles, in fact I very much doubt I would look any further.
Good looking car backed up with legendary Lexus quality and reliability record.
As a tesla owner, I'm seriously considering a lexus as a new car. Design, reliability and luxury - hard to beat! German equivalents are boring nowadays
As a Tesla owner, I bought my wife a Lexus, We're both happy with our cars. I do like driving hers every now and again ;)
@@rumanuu nice which one did you go for?
@@KavishTanna We got the NX450h+ 👍🏼
@@rumanuu I have a BMW i4 and I love it. I seriously considered a Model Y, but the quality of the BMW blows any Tesla out of the water. Plus, the antics of Mr Musk I find hugely repugnant and the thought of giving him a penny of my money seriously displeasing
Tesla's are over rated and if you ask most mechanics they will tell you not to go for Tesla
I have a lexus nx and I love it, so comfy, so smooth and quality is just high throughout!
Love your reviews, top notch as usual. Nice car too. Wonder if it will be for sale in Canada, and if so, when.
I am pretty surprised to find myself saying that looks quite nice. As for the interior, it's actually unique. I have to say, I certainly didn't expect Lexus to position the touch screen where it is. The overall interior reminds me of the MG ZST (certainly not a bad thing) and a legendary Japanese car lost to time. The Mazda Cosmo of 1990. Very similar. The only real differences being the air vents are in place of dials in the wrap-around section, and there's a dedicated area for the instrument cluster. Like the Mazda Cosmo, the touch screen is positioned in a very similar place. Unlike the Cosmo, this Lexus actually has physical climate controls (Thank you, Lexus. At least someone has come to their senses). Yes, that's right. The Mazda Cosmo actually had touchscreen climate controls way back in 1990. You can use that next time for car pub trivia.
Overall, I'll give Lexus a 9/10 for this. They've taken the crappy Yaris Cross and made arguably the best-looking small SUV on the market inside and out. Well done to Lexus. I hope they bring this to Australia (where I live).
It’s coming to NZ so you should get it?
Seems way underwhelming and underpowered though for a Lexus. Europe might like slow compact cars but I think NZ won’t be excited by it… Not with what Cupra offers.
I quite like the look of it. Though i hate cars where you have to look down at the satnav. It should be closer to the line of sight. But great to see a premium small SUV at that price point. Plenty of stellantis cars at that sort of money and you would expect a much better fit and finish on a Lexus.
great video, HUGE Lexus fan, thanks for sharing!
This is beautiful!!!! Looking forward to this. They should have brought something like this out ages ago?
Looks very good. Promo photos with different color options look even better than this one, especially that rose gold one. Interior looks decent, a step up from Yaris Cross for sure. I travel a lot for work and use a lot of rent'a'car. I drove Peugeot 2008 GT line for a week, then switched to Yaris Cross and that interior felt at least a decade older than 2008. So I hope LBX interior will be a big step up.
Cheers for the video guys 😎👌
I’m surprised how much I like this new car. Might need one!
I think a lot of people might share your views Colin 😃
It's idiotic nonsense
Surely the yaris cross will be updated with the 130ps hybrid system from the facelifted Yaris? Really like this LBX though
Great review as always, but I clicked in to watch a review on LBX rather than a Yaris Cross!
Can you tell us the exact colour here as appears to be 3/4 grey /silver options?
We traded our BMW X3 for the NX450H+ fSport and we are delighted. In 6 months we have put 30 litres of petrol in it in 4500km. So we are looking to replace our second car with a differentiating small SUV and the LBX looks ideal. We would be looking for a plug-in hybrid or EV model with the best luxury fitment available. As late septuagenarians, we want a car that we don’t have trouble entering or exiting. We have an effective solar PV system with batteries that can cater for 2 plug-in hybrids. We are looking to make this next car our last car purchase and benefit from the longevity and maintainability of the Lexus brand.
The Volvo EX30 could also be a good fit for you if you are willing to go full électric.
@@pauld3327 we currently have Citroen as our second car. We are giving it to the first of our four grandchildren when the LBX arrives. We want a car produced in Asia because the turn indicators are on the left of the wheel whilst the European cars are on the right. It is so annoying to go around one of our many roundabouts with the windscreen wipers madly cleaning a dry screen. It will be nice to have two cars with identical systems. I do agree that the Volvo EV30 looks like a good car but, if reducing fuel consumption is the aim, the LBX at
A great looking small new models...Having been waiting for the Lexus I ordered 18 months ago and still waiting.. Makes you wonder who they are targeting.
It's a glorified YARIS.
I love LEXUS. But they stopped making their best seller, the IS, and they priced the GS out of the reach of 90% of people.
Well, they also stopped making the GS. It got replaced with the Camry based ES.
Can't tell you how much I was hoping for an IS electrified. As Groundbreaking as the IS250 II, that thing would be a bomb.
Isn't it running on a Toyota planform? It looks Toyota-ish
@@The-Tall-Photographer Lexus is a Toyota company, so every car is Toyota based and a lot of Toyotas get Premium parts used in previous Lexus models. Toyota couldn't be the biggest car company if they didn't reuse to look/parts :)
The only thing which stopped me buying a Yaris Cross was the abysmal 0-60 time and lack of AWD. If this new Lexus addresses those negatives, I would seriously consider it.
If 9.2 seconds isn't abysmal to you...then you've found your match. Note: 9.2 is pretty abysmal by most standards..
@@alexandergoldman yep, 9.2 pretty poor too for a car that will likely cost north of £35k. I'm out.
It obviously didn’t lol. Almost 10 secs.
A RAV4 hybrid will destroy it on the on ramp…
Love it. I've added it to my shortlist.
Might change my CHR for one of these 🤔
Looks exactly the car the Yaris Cross should have been instead of the noisy cheap feeling but pricy Tonka toy Toyota gave us.
Cost will be probably similar to new CH-R. 2 different cars, but overall CH-R is probably better choice (unless noise insulation is very poor). This gives bit of 'luxury', but not much else.
Hello there. Which bi tone color combination do you think goes better with the LBX? Sitting on the fence between sonic white (pearl) with black roof or the sonic copper with the black roof. What do you think? This is highly appreciated. Btw your review was excellent!
They could have done better in the powertrain department. An AWD setup with that power output screams ‘slow’ to me.
Great car for those seeking for classy, efficient, comfortable, reliable urban mobility….
No, it's another worthless crossover for idiots
I like it, it doesn't have the typical pointy front but I would like to see a mild hybrid versión pushing near 180Hp.
Lexus should be selling this car now not mid 2024. In 12 months time it may not look so good against new small EVs like Tesla model 2.
There's a toned muscularity about the surfaces. The interior, especially the roof lining, needs lighter coloured materials except for the top of the dashboard. I hope wind noise is non-existent. I was surprised by how much presence the Yaris Cross exuded when I fist saw one pulling up to my neighbour's house.
Will the AWD version be a proper 4x4 or will the rear wheels just be powered by a battery with a fraction of the power of the ICE? I hate it when they do that. But still, on first impressions it looks the biz.
Looks gorgeous.
I just hope they throw a GR Yaris engine in there and call in LBX-F
Now that would be something i would buy
Shame about the boot space but overall, I like everything about it!
We need this in the states. Replace the ux 250h with this Lexus!
"It's the first Lexus that's been built specifically for Europe". Wasn't the CT designed primarily for Europe?
Interestingly there's no Lexus 'L' logo on the rear
I wasn't keen on the ux or nx..hoping this will suit better...the biggest mistake lexus made was no in-between ...when the ct200h stopped...so this is well overdue
Looks good but the Steering wheel should be more modern
Looks a little like a Nissan juke at the rear. Not a bad looking little car, but nothing to make it stand out visually. Obviously the build quality is going to be excellent. After all, it is a Lexus. Providing the price is competitive, I can see this car selling well in Europe.
i didnt like how they positioned the screen lower than the other SUV lineups, on the honda CRV they have it in the same position and i try not to use it for apple carplay/maps because i have to look DOWN which makes it feel awkward and dangerous, i loved how the other screens were propped up so while im driving i just do a quick glance.
Better than an ipad on top of the dash
@@ekimandersom4478no it’s not 😂
Nice design great video
Euro zone gets a 5 year warranty as standard compared to 3 years in UK.
I was on board until he mentioned the boot space. Makes my Mazda CX30 seem massive in comparison 😂
I think the LBX embarks less power (132hp) than a Lexus CT200H (136 hp). Compared to CT200H the LBX has less boot capacity. Interior-wise LBX’s infotainment is more intelligent, more fresher and refined than the late CT200H. We know that LBX replaces the CT200H as Lexus’s entry level and it is a crossover. Lexus Breakthrough CT200H and UX in a crossover version.
Thank you for the review.
Trace of Mazda CX 30 DNA can be seen in this vehicle
Oh gosh I wish you just talked about the LBX. You are going on and on with the Yaris comparison. If not should just rename the video.
This will hit a sweet spot in the market particularly young professionals living in flats who have no home charging options. This is a similar market that the new Honda Civic Hybrid addresses. Similar price range too. This perhaps is less sporty than the new Honda Civic Hybrid but it makes up for that with the Lexus brand appeal and class leading quality interior.
Not so similar to the new Civic in tech - not a CVT in the Honda & it has a 2 litre engine with eCVT fwd in Europe and even full ice available in US. No phev coming etc. Format of the Honda differs again as it is family friendly spacious 4 seat cabin with large boot.
@@Carl-yu6uw Young professionals living in flats can have kids too. The price point and the self charging hybrid elements are the common denominators. Phev options are irrelevant if you live in a flat with no charging options.
@hunterfunter47 You said "particularly young professionals living in flats". Like you you mean. Many people live in flats. Your market assessment is a typical millenial entitled assessment.
@@Carl-yu6uw Maybe my opinion is coloured by the fact that I live in Cambridge and work as an estate agent. Cambridge has many thousands of young professional couples living in flats and that's a demographic that is increasing here. Virtually none that I have met run an EV.
It's not the first lexus to have 3 letters in its name since the LFA. We had the RCF and GSF.
Nice looking car
Great job
The slope at the back kills it for me.
Honestly, if Lexus came out with a plug-in hybrid version of this I would want to buy it.
One of the best looking small vehicles on the market atm!
I love Lexus, I love this car, and I'm getting one. It looks great.
One thing i notice, it doesn't have thicker tyres than those European brands.
Audi Q2. A car for 3 years and after that repair visits every 4 months and loss of value much higher than any Lexus or Toyota .
Yet another SUV. I was hoping for an LF-SA series car, and a fully electric obv.
I have an ES300 and CT200. Both Takumi spec. Great cars but underpowered as it his. Will not be upgrading the ct.
I notice it has wireless Carplay but you still need a cable for Android Auto. How come? You'd think any new car would have it by now - unless it's a licensing cost issue?
Toyota seems to have very strange policy around this. New Yaris has all wireless, then some much more expensive models don't, even if they are also new (like LBX).
That is one of the most annoying things about LBX especially as i believe the cheaper Yaris has wireless android auto. Bizarre.
Would you pick this or the new prius?
Good looking
Wow amazing 🤩
OMG Please tell me is coming to the USA!
It’s not unfortunately
That boot space, lol.
Have you noticed that you haven't point at a single similarity between the Toyota Yaris Cross and the LBX? Only the engine is similar, and Toyota makes the best engines, so all good.
Finally a Lexus which the average Joe can afford :)
That's not the point! They dont want soccer moms to drive these.....
I doubt that
The Toyota Crown sibling 😍
I have a C200H and I am hoping that this Lexus is the same width so it can go in my garage as the UX fits but I can’t open the door.
I was hoping for more of a replacement for the CT200H as I’ve been really pleased with mine. I just don’t like SUV’s.
they took TOYOTA RAIZE DESIGN to this car. i owned raize. Yaris Cross just like a RAV4 design.
I guess Lexus would like to name it BX, but I imagine Citroën still holds the rights to that denomination in Europe.
For me the small boot, 3 cylinder engine & CVT gearbox would stop me from buying this car
So enamoured by this Lexus, we have delayed the purchase of a new car until a test drive can be arranged.
In this day and age any vehicle that does 0-60mph over 8 seconds is unacceptable.
Lexus is awesome and the brand image is up with the other premium offers. However, their price strategy is very weird .. they are slightly too expensive for posh Toyotas.
Please HELP ME!!!
Is this the All-New Cement Grey?
Front looks like the cupra born
Rear seats are tight because it is a compact car.
I hate them pointing out tight rear seats for compact cars. Especially when they critic Asian brands.
The boot space comments are incorrect. The 2WD LBX has 402 litres of boot space.
When are Toyota and Lexus going to design rear passenger doors that open wider? Surely they realise they are loosing sales for that reason alone.
From the looks I think they finally added foldable backseats, so maybe after 20 years they also start listening about rear doors xD
Yes, I agree. I have the new Nissan Qashqai. The rear doors open to 89°. Ideal for kids and elderly parents, to get in and out of. I really don’t know, why Lexus can’t fit the same sort of doors.
Totally agree, I liked what I saw untill the rear cabin space and poor door openings, wont be bothering, the Yaris cross is hopeless in this area, sorry Lexus it's a No from me.
Thought perhaps someone would design an aftermarket door hinge to improve the ridiculous opening angles on Toyota and Lexus models. I had to laugh when viewing a recent Aygo X, the salesman wasn’t aware of how hard it was to get in and out the back, he got stuck trying to exit through the very narrow opening.
Anyone at Toyota listening?
Quite the nitpick for what is an otherwise excellent car, no?
Struggling with model nomenclature 🤔 design other than grill doesn’t seem to fit with other models.
Thank you Lexus, They removed ugly USDM amber plate from those headlights on this model.
Very nice
That trunk capacity is disastrous, but that's also the case with Lexus' UX which is in every way a lot worse car than this. This is more what the UX should've been from the jump.
The UX isn't sold much here, i have never seen one on the road.
No wonder, it is expensive, tiny trunk and not a looker.
Can you not just review the LBX without every other sentence saying yaris cross? Yeah I get it, toyota own lexus etc etc but to constantly go on about it....
🤣🤣🤣
Seems like a nice car, but I don't get the hype around these compact SUV's. Yaris has clearly been sold more times than the Yaris Cross. Whoever is in charge at Lexus is not doing good enough of a job in this regard; you have had plenty of time to transform this success of a car (Yaris) into a more luxurious counterpart.
Weird name. Why not just BX, YX, or anything else? 😅 Also, how does this one's interior space compare with the UX?
I think that Citroën would have been on the phone if Lexus called this BX.
It’s more lofty than the ux but length wise shorter from the looks of it
As a Lexus(s) owner the last 15 years, I’m not sure why you’d compare it to the Toyota Yaris, they’ve nearly nothing in common, they’re totally different cars … this car is perfect for a single person or a couple 👌, I’m going to take one for a test drive
Getting one for 2024 Yaaaay.
The headlights do look like lfa
Lexus was so ahead with the crossover category and so late to adding more models.
Buy a Yaris Cross then. Looks nice bit to tight on boot space. Na... love lexus's .
Cute car. Lexus' Toyota (LBX/Yaris Cross) like Audi's VW (A3/Golf)
Looks like a nissan juke, at least on the outside.
Looks nice inside though.
LBX = low budget crossover
This car would be perfect as full BEV which reminds me of the Fait500e , Lexus should also have a Solar roof option.
And it would have pushed the price up so high that it would barely sell in reasonable numbers.
@@bw1376 and there lies the problem.
Would be perfect with the Yaris GR engine.
Sorry i missed what car this is based on? 😐
Nice
Unlike the Toyota, they even painted under the bonnet!
How does it compare to a Nissan Qashqai
Since it is small, I was hoping it would be more powerful and quicker from standing to 100kph. But considering it has very limited space, AND it won’t be fast because it’s a small engine and not turbocharged- probably with an electric motor making less than 40Hp, I wouldn’t be interested.
If it was fast I would maybe nudge my wife towards it (since if it was fun for me, that makes up for less practicality) but it seems it has no upsides in terms of what I like- except for the HUD.
We have a RAV4 hybrid already which will out-drive this, so it’s not an upgrade. Toyota shouldn’t have focused on european ideals: their market should concentrate on pacific and US/South America where there is more space and cars don’t need to be compact and overly “green”.
