@@elvangulley3210I heard at the time that because the Nevada schools have a board of regents, it makes the process more complicated. And I'm sure the Pac12 was thinking at the time that taking those 5 programs would cripple the MW and they'll eventually get the other programs too. Still could prove to be true.

Its concerning, but regardless Boise is likely still in a decent position. Even if the PAC turns into a complete disaster, Boise has their OOC to carry - it just puts more emphasis on OOC. Worst case scenario they are the West Coast Liberty, but if they beat ND, Oregon, Louisville, Wisconsin, UH and UC they have P4 wins for comparable coverage and potentially top 15 to Top 10 wins that could put them over the B12 and ACC Champions.
This is what the B12 never understood for reason. Football tries to give the appearance that the p4 is based on competition, but its not. So if BSU wins these games, the B12 outside of maybe 1-2 teams has NOTHING by comparison in OOC. If by some miracle Boise is better next year they beat ND, the B12 basically has to pray trash heap Oklahoma State is competent enough to beat Oregon on the road (aint gonna happen) or theyre compeltely screwed. A 2 loss BSU team would be over their champ with a OOC win like that.

OSU got ripped on departure & coaches, as well as injuries on the o-line & especially d-line. By the end of the year they a back up TE starting a D-line, & O-lineman in the rotations at DT. They will be much better this next year. WSU coach seems to have checked out already the last 3-4 games, planning his departure to Wake Forest. This next year it will be a brand new coaching staff with 35 departures through the portal. So it will be a rough year for them, like the Beavs had last year. Don't forget BSU had issues in 2022 and for part of 2023. Coaching matters, as does coaching & player stability. I'm not saying that BSU will not be at the top in 2026, but I am certain the Beavs and Cougs will be right there with them. When such a large departure of coaches & players happen, like OSU & WSU, it take a year or two to get back up there. OSU had QB issues last year but were able to get the #4 QB in the portal (Maalik Murphy), and he has two years to play. It will be fun, but it won't be a cake walk for anyone.

And I'm not sure going football first next is best as there's only 1 school which I think we can get that can help and that's UNLV. But with only UNLV, I dont feel we can get any other schools which will move the dial.
But I do feel there's a way we can get that through a third path.
    Basketball
Bring in UNR, bring in UNM, and to keep everyone happy, throw in UNLV too. 2 current strong schools and an historic power. That then makes the conference very appealing for say Memphis. That's where we strike Memphis, and with them, you bring in a travel partner. UTSA? Tulane? I leave that up to you.
Then when you let the ACC implode (I doubt they take UTSA/Tulane, memphis maybe.) You then aim for Cal/Stanford
    Washington State/Oregon State/California/Stanford/San Diego State/Fresno State/Boise State/Colorado State/Utah State/Nevada/New Mexico/UNLV/Memphis/Tulane

    IMO:
1 - AD Dickey making a statement/comment as he did on social media, leads me to believe something positive is in the works that will favor the PAC.
2 - I know a lot things have to fall in place for Memphis and Tulane to join the PAC (maybe even UTSA), but I still believe there is significant mutual interest from both PAC and top AAC schools to join forces in the PAC. It’s all about reaching the financial agreement.
3 - Commissioner Navarez has displayed respectable leadership but I believe that official recent MW statement about being “committed together” reeks of instability between the MW and UNLV, possibly Air Force.
I know a lot of UNLV fans online are saying UNLV will get a BIG10 or BIG12 invite but that’s them over valuing themselves. UNLV doesn’t have the financial resources nor the established athletic history in football to make them a top priority for any P4 conference.
UNLV will absolutely regret staying in the MW should they do so. As of 2026, the remaining conference members do not have the committed financial resources to elevate the MW past the PAC. UNLV remaining in the MW will further set back UNLV athletics and financial gains, especially football.

I still believe the new PACs leadership is making the top AAC schools a top priority and those top AAC schools know they would absolutely gain in both football and basketball by joining the new PAC. Memphis is not happy in the current AAC, it’s all about both sides overcoming financial buyouts and coming to a mutual new media contract. Will it be easy? No, but it can be done. But from a basketball perspective, especially if they add both UNLV and Memphis to this existing group it is a very strong conference. I don’t think $12 million is off the table and likely that’s the bar the new Pac needs to reach in order to get schools like Memphis and Tulane. Canzano has reported time and time again that the Pac hasn’t made any more moves bf they’ve been shopping hypothetical media rights deals that they can present to AAC schools. @BroncoBleymaier what do you mean? PAC-12 doesn't have a TV deal after this year and if they don't have an 8th team with football the pac-12 is no more.
AAC teams are going to wait till the ACC issue is done so that they are in line to go to the ACC, so why get into the mess that pac-12 is in. MWC has until 2028 to drag its feet in court. PAC-12 doesn't have the luxury to do that. Based on what Oregon st. And Washington st did by freezing out the leaving members, MWC followed their lead and have the advantage in court.
In the end the best thing to do is do the merger and combine to be the best G5 conference. The lower and upper tier slider would be best. Have the pac-12 as the conference and Mountain as the lower tier and West as the higher tier. Then the best half fight to be in the playoff and the other half use that time to build up their program and the best 2 teams from the mountain move to the west and then the 2 weakest drop to the mountain each season.

The most important reason they left the MW is to get away from the bottom 1/2 that is stuck in mediocrity, other than UNLV (Mullen probably telling the AD it's a big mistake staying in MW), no remaining MW teams can keep up with the challenges on the horizon. Bronco i enjoy ur content even though I am rabid UNLV fan. UNLV has a sweetheart deal in the MW. They have the potential of approx. $30 mil in exit fees and poaching penalties coming their way. Yes those fees and penalties are in litigation but if it goes in front of a judge...the MW is in a powerful position. They don't need to negotiate a settlement of those fees and penalties. Also in the deal with the MW if UNLV gets invited to like the BIG 12....UNLV would NOT have to pay any exit fees to the MW. Yes I know, as of right now...UNLV is not attractive because they havent proven to be a top tier program in football. 2 seasons are nice buit we need more than that. But UNLV's goal is to do what is necessary to make itself attractive by 2030.
In regards of the pac 12 media deal....which at the moment they have none and not enough members to be considered a FBS conf. Yes I do think the pac will preferr to add Texas St. which they may do for their 8th member. If not Texas St. because I believe they will sit bac k and see who gives the Texas St program the best deal...the pac or the MW. However the estimate of the TV deal of $10-15 mil per school is unrealistic. No way will the pac get that. Your estimate of $8-9 mil per school is a little high. I think at best the pac will maybe get $7-8 mill per yr.
Now lets get into your other option. IF the lawsuits between the pac and the MW are dismissed then I believe there is a reall posibility of these schools joining the pac. UNLV, Air Force, New Mexico, Wyoming as full members and GCU and U C Davis as basketball. I think UTEP would be a good addition along with Texas ST. to get the confrence footprint into texas media and recruiting markets. NIU would be a good add for football and the chicago tv and recruiting markets. Hawaii even with the travel cost would give the late night media martket and recruiting market. The result would be a great west coast conference that could bring in a media deal of $10-12 mil per school because of all the different time zone exposure the conf would have. It would be a 15 football members and 17 basketball members ..18 if you add St. Marys for basketball. So both the basketball and football parts of this league would be very strong. lets look at this...
    FOOTBALL BASKETBALL
    Wash. ST. Wash. ST.
    Ore. St. Ore St.
    Boise St. Boise St.
    Fresno St. Fresno St.
    Utah St. Utah St.
San Diego St. San Diego St.
    Colorado St. Colorado St.
    UNLV UNLV
    Air Force Air Force
    New Mexico New Mexico
    Wyoming Wyoming
    Hawaii Hawaii
    UTEP UTEP
    Texas St. Texas St.
    NIU GCU
    Gonzaga
    U C Davis
    St. Mary's
You could even make 2 divisions in each sport. You may question NIU....but they did beat Notre Dame and are consistantly bowl eligible. And the chicago tv market and time zone offers more viewer-ship and recruits to this proposed conf. If you wanted the football part to be 16 members then I guess you could add Nevada as a full member unless you have another football member canidate to add...maybe a NDSU or Tarleton St. for another texas school.
    what do you think.

    • @BroncoBleymaier
      @BroncoBleymaier  5 дней назад +1

Hm, not a fan of adding teams just because they are in Texas. UTEP is barely in Texas and doesn’t draw Texas recruiting like UTSA or NT would. I’m also not a fan of Wyoming or Hawaii joining. I don’t thing those teams add anything in terms of viewership, recruiting, or marketing. NIU is a definite no, too much travel and not enough production. I think the PAC adding UNLV, and then Air Force or New Mexico would be as far as they want to go

My thinking is the Pac will hold st eight for 2026 and wait on UNT or UTSA for 2027 when their exit fees come down.
Currently, the new AAC Schools are only getting a half share of the AAC media pie with $500k escalators every year. If they come to the Pac for a full share, they make their money back with some to spare. Media views and home game revenue should increase with a higher level of competition. @@BroncoBleymaier to be fair I don’t consider Texas State to be a desperate move for the PAC 12. For me desperate move would be having to get New Mexico State.

Another question is does New Mexico State want to get out of Conference USA. The reason why they join Conference USA is because they don’t have to play as an independent for football. Look at the current state of Conference USA. You have to consider that conference to be the worst conference in FBS.

@tylernelson3343 yes and if only the worst conference would want to take them why should the PAC12?
