    I want to take a moment to thank all the Flybe staff who have been amazing during this airlines existence. I seriously hope that other airlines recognize your skills and talents and offer your positions. I wish you all the very best of luck in these hard times.

    So sad for the staff and public. I was genuinely delighted when Flybe restarted as I’ve flown with them several times in the past and it was always a very positive experience. Thanks to you, Dom, for the info and thanks to the staff for their hard work in the past. I hope they manage to find another airline deserving of them.

    Let's hope that all staff can be given alternatives within the aircraft industry, as they were the glue that held in together. Very moving film, sensitively done.

    So sorry to hear Flybe has gone under again. I have always enjoyed flying with them. They always focussed on keeping costs low and on regional airports and cities.

      I have never had any problems with them and always their service. Good value for money. It so sad they are gone again.

    They were the only airline flying from Amsterdam to East Midlands. Kinda sad it went bust :(

    I never quite knew why they'd even consider Heathrow. It's an airport that will charge premium prices and the only low cost airline that's been successful there was Spanish airline Vueling that is part owned by Iberia and IAG.
    There's a very valid reason why easyJet and Ryanair have not touched Heathrow with a 20 ft bargepole, and it's surprising to me that the new Flybe even tried.

    I really hope the government can bring them back up. Alaska Airlines just retired their 32 Q400s, and maybe they can take them instead of new build planes. They also have like 75 former flyby Q400s parked in Canada that they can bring back into the fleet!

    Really is a shame they went down again. You'd think with a fresh start there would be good foundations for sustainable growth. It did seem rather bizarre how quickly they were releasing new routes though when they'd only just reestablished themselves. Granted, pitching for slots must be done quite far in advance but perhaps they could've foreseen the supply chain issues with aircraft delivery or taken a more cautious approach to expansion.

    Lots of comments about how sad it was that it failed but in my considerable experience with this airline, they were consistently awful in both first and second iterations. Agree that staff were decent by management was laughably bad. Market forces dictate that they have no place in the airline industry, simply because there are MANY better alternatives. If they’d been good, they’d still be operating, but they cancelled flights at the very last minute, were almost always late or severely delayed, and provide a sub-standard service. No loss.

    #1 reason a website that continuously crashed #2 utterly incomprehensible aforementioned website that made it nearly impossible to book a flight and #3 astronomical prices compared to the competition.

    Perhaps it was a case of "Too much, too soon"? Because the firm was just coming out of bankruptcy, should they not have taken things slowly, instead of splashing out on 22 new planes? Slow and sure wins the race. And if they saw they were having financial problems, why not merge with Easyjet, for example? Going bankrupt again sounds like bad management, which could easily of been avoided.

    From NL; I was also unpleasantly surprised by the news. Flybe is a Dash-8 icon and it's sad to see that their business failed again. Altough from a potential customer perspective:
    I've serioisly checked Flybe's website about 2 weeks before the collapse. I was interested in flying to the UK from AMS with Flybe to a maybe less 'standard' city.
    I eventually closed the website, after seeing the pricing for seats on multiple routes. I found their product not to be worthy the price they charged for two main reasons: 1. The Dash-8 cruises way slower than any jet (which I was totally fine with), but what made me walk away was the pricing. In my opinion you simply cannot charge more than an Easyjet or others whilst operating a Dash-8. They were not competitive at all. It would only be an avgeek decision to buy their product. Other than that there was no reason to potentially fly with Flybe.
    Sorry to see them go, I really am. Although I can understand why competition, as one factor of many, made the business fail.

    I miss FlyBe so much I used to fly every week from Manchester to Edinburgh and sometimes to Glasgow
    The Edinburgh route was always full
    I can’t understand why no other carrier hasn’t taken these routes as they had to be profitable
    I now either drive 4 hours plus depending on traffic
    Or the train 3.5 hours if they are on time
    FlyBe was fantastic 30 minutes in the air 😢
    Hope all the staff found new jobs

      Unless loganair take up these routes I can’t see anyone flying from Glasgow or Edinburgh to Manchester. Even jet2 operated jet2 to Manchester from Edinburgh

    I think a big issue with Flybe is that customers lost trust in them as 9/10 times whenever I was flying a Flybe flight was either cancelled or severely delayed and this was definitely a big reason why they failed.

    You've missed out the massive surge in fuel prices and current economic situation which probably had a massive impact on the airline at the worst possible time.

      I agree with the economic situation but those prop aircraft were fuel-efficient. It's not as if Flybe were operating A380s on long-haul !

      Valid point but I was aiming for the points that were more specific to Flybe and not issues that most airlines are facing at the moment, your right it is a very tough time for all right now. ☹️

    New here, great video although I find the voiceover very monotone? If that could be done in a few cuts rather than chopped up by sentence it'd be way easier to listen to.
    On the Flybe matter itself I think it was hugely reckless if they were reliant on only one aircraft supplier, especially during such a turbulent time globally - they were doomed to fail if that was the case.

    While I am disappointed to see Flybe’s demise and while there were headwinds for them they’ve recently been operating in an era where train travel in the UK has been unreliable because of strikes. That you would have thought was an ideal opportunity for them. Running an airline is tough, running a regional airline more so. They rarely last long, rarely achieve what they initially plan. As for delays in getting equipment my guess is that the increase in interest rates might have made some of the new leases expensive and additionally the return of air travel in other regions meant competition for the aircraft. The short life span the recently launched Flybe had also suggests it was under capitalized. We are in winter now, some way away from the warmer seasons when airlines make money. Did they start with enough cash?

      It's not dying Simon. As aviation consultant John Strickland said to me "UK domestic aviation is a challenge." Trunk routes are fine as the LCCs have lower costs and BA mainly operates its domestic flights to London in order to feed its lucrative international services. It's carriers like Loganair who get it right with smaller jets and higher fares which cater to well-heeled leisure - or corporate travelers.

      Was going by the aircraft type rather than specific configuration as it varies from airline to airlines :) Gutted Flybe is gone though. 😢

      Indeed. Really even 78 seats were too much for some of the routes. Loganair has got a better solution by operating smaller jets. In any case discerning travellers prefer jets to prop aircraft.

      @@alexmcwhirter6611 Sadly the jets are not economical enough. Even at Loganair they seem to keep the jet for the busier routes. For the UK the Q400 is fine and looking externally seems to have been the safest option for Flybe as they fly higher and faster than the ATR but seemingly they couldn't get enough of them in time and overpromised with the route expansion.
      I was really hoping things would finally stabilise for them, thoughts go out to the staff and public who've lost their tickets.

      British Rail ended in the 1990s ! Flybe 1 already failed in 2020.
