Nice pair of flights. My own experience of Air Baltic was in 2018 when I took a strange routing back to Glasgow from Kiyv. An Air Baltic Dash 8 Q400 flew me from Kiyv to Riga, then after a four hour wait an A220 flew me to Gatwick followed by a BA flight to Glasgow. I only did it as it was my first chance to fly in the A220. I was as impressed as you were. I also spent a pleasant couple of hours in that lounge using Priority Pass.

There's no such thing as business class on European flights, just an option to pay more

I agree the a220 is a great plane to fly on. I've flown Delta and JetBlue. I hope to be able to try air France, swiss and air Canada

Thanks for this video. Great airline of quality. Unfortunately Air Baltic cannot grow with sixth-freedom traffic because of Riga's location. I mean Riga is well situated for connecting Europe with Russia but as we know that's not a possibility right now.

That really is good value, the food looked top notch notch, both in standard and first class. Will definitely be looking into that flight. Great video 😊

AirBaltic is a superb airline, have had a lot of great experiences with them. RIX is also a great airport.

Here in Germany in a lunch counter (Imbiß in German) I would expect to pay 10€ for a lunch with a side-salad so that 8€ lunch was excellent value You were likely getting Latvian prices which if memory serves used to be a lot lower. They seem to be pretty go ahead as an airline and deserve to be patronised. I love those dividing curtains between business class and economy class seats. I was once on a flight between Arlanda, Sweden and Vantaa Finland on a plane with one of those curtains and we hit turbulence and the curtain fell down and hit the business class passenger on the head.

Just had an experience this morning I missed my flight because of luggage line was in line for over a hour and missed my flight I just rebooked for tomorrow with an additional charge horrible experience…. Also the 7 people in front of me were rebooked and I believe 3 people behind me it was unreal

I did this flight in February 2017, it should be on every avgeek’s bucket list. I loved every minute of it.

Great video. I bet you’re glad you weren’t on standard (cattle) class!!! I used to get CrossCountry from Edinburgh to Motherwell each day and it was horrific - the train was filthy, stinking, uncomfortable and very often late and over-crowded. I’m surprised CrossCountry still operate actually.

I went on 1st class the beginning of may, we were given a complimentary box containing sweets and biscuits , but I think that was given due to the new rules in place "no standing by the doors ,heavily enforced " so not allowed to take photos from the door windows ,still a great trip though ,and well worth doing

And heading to any of the many islands served from Oban by Caledonian MacBrayne - just absolutely stunning! Thanks for taking us along.

To be really honest I would be very annoyed if, on a 600 mile journey the only food they were serving was butties and crisps! No hot breakfasts or lunches. No wonder some passengers were annoyed! OK it's not the staff on the trains fault must they must be prepared for stick because people can be bothered to serve hot food on a 10 hour journey.

Great video, many thanks Dom. The scenery is fantastic, but I do wish Scotrail would put some better rolling stock on their Oban and Mallaig services. I’m sure it would be worth it financially. Travelling the route in a Mk3 IC carriage would be a fantastic experience, rather than chugging along in a relatively noisy Class 156. Experience in other countries with mountainous scenery shows that if you provide good quality trains on scenic routes, more people will use them. Scotland has, IMHO, some of the best scenery in the World, so come on Scotrail, please improve your trains.

40+ years ago i did numerous 'All Line Rovers' in my youth. Now I might be wrong, but I am quite sure I caught a sleeper to Oban.

I almost hoped you were going via Dunblane and the bus to Callander and Killin - paralleling the original Caledonian Railway route to Oban, and rejoining the train at Crianlarich; or alternatively it could be cycled, though you might prefer going from north to south for the generally downhill gradient! In fact, you could even take the twice-daily bus from Oban to Fort William, that parallels the former Connel Ferry to Ballachulish branch - most of whose stations also remain in a variety of guises. Connel Ferry Bridge was of course built for the railway, then shared with road traffic for many years - and its not so many years since the railway deck of the bridge over Loch Creran was replaced by a road deck - the piers of this bridge still being original! So many possibilities, so little time.

I've flown to Campbeltown a couple of times in the past. On the first flight the Captain was a friend of mine.

A way i use to like doing it was off to Tyndrum Upper and walk to Tyndrum Lower then the Oban line.Only works off the sleeping train from England which carries a day coach from Edinburgh to Fort William and maybe a few others as Oban/Malliag is the same train for much of the journey.
