    What do you think of this route & what other ways do you think Loganair can keep routes like these Profitable?

    I have done this trip a few times both from Aberdeen and from Inverness via Kirkwall. On one of the flights from Aberdeen they closed Sumburg airport and was divert to Scatsta Airport which was nice as to most of the island as we flew into Scatsta but not so as we waited around two hours for the bus to come and pick us up. Lucky as I jump out at Lerwick. Then on another occasion I had to share the flight with a person in handcuffs to Inverness who join the plane in Kirkwall. These were around 10 years ago but still good memories of the flights to and from Sumburgh.

    Enjoyable video, thanks. I enjoy flights on the smaller aircraft - just seems more authentic somehow than the larger craft. Some years ago when BA Cityexpress operated ATR42s between Gatwick and Newcastle I remember a very hairy landing at the latter in strong crosswinds. It’s a shame to see the disappearance of the Saabs, but they’re getting on in years I guess. Always thought they looked exceptionally smart in the Loganair livery.

      You should! You can fly to either from Heathrow with Loganair Via Dundee on their longer milk run, failing that you can connect through basically any Scottish city.

      Most airports in the world do. It's only really your big hubs that move past simple functionality to introduce architectural nuances.

    We considered taking Loganair from Aberdeen to Lerwick but really wanted to try the Northlink (which we enjoyed thoroughly). We did take a Loganair from Aberdeen to Belfast City (a different kind of island hopping) and gave them 2-thumbs up.

    Lerwick Airport looks larger than I thought it would be. Really wish we had a non-stop from London so we could come visit the islands more easily.

    • @WorldWide_Dom
      @WorldWide_Dom  4 месяца назад +2

      It is quite a large airport for an island airport, large enough even to handle certain jets. Loganair do also operate a milk run from Heathrow to the Islands via Dundee 😉

      @@WorldWide_Dom - Of course I meant Sumburgh Airport (not Lerwick!) - or are they one and the same? Interesting about the Heathrow service. I generally prefer directs rather than 'vias' - pity BA CityFlyer can't do London City to Shetland direct (not enough direct demand I guess).

    • @WorldWide_Dom
      @WorldWide_Dom  4 месяца назад +2

      @@176MarkW Lerwick has another airport, Lerwick/Tingwall Airport which handles the domestic flying within the Islands, Sumburgh is the main airport of the Shetlands though.

      @@WorldWide_Dom yes we flew back from Fair Isle to Tingwall and then all piled in a mini bus provided to take us back to Lerwick. We only paid for our flight when we got off - never had that before! It was only one way as we went to Fair Isle on the boat “Good Shepherd IV”!

      @WorldWide_Dom Thanks. I've been thinking about a move to Adobe, but I'm so used to Davinci Resolve just now, it might be a while...

    • @WorldWide_Dom
      @WorldWide_Dom  4 месяца назад +1

      Adobe after effects is great for visual effect, there is no software more well put together in terms of ease of use, I find you can get creative with it. Other adobe software like premier Pro I’m not sold on, it constantly has bugs that just makes it unusable for me for fast turnarounds. I currently use Final Cut Pro having moved from Davinci due to its speed & uniformity in combination with apples M1 processor and ProRes file format. Though after effects is still my go to for VFX, 2D animation etc. when I shot on Blackmagic cameras in the past davinci was great but their cameras are not really suited to these kinds of videos.

  • @belugast

    Dom I like you videos but one thing I think you need to master, is the voice over sometimes it sounds too rushed and edited too quick together, better spacing needed in the voice edit only slightly but it will sound better I believe, the into the video camera work is fine. please do not take this the wrong way, as someone who watches a lot of RUclipsrs I hope I can help and not be negative, keep of the nice videos! 😃
