Firstly, this is n pre-recorded video. As we've previously mentioned, we had a backlog of Karl videos to occasionally release while he takes a break.
Secondly, this is an American show, so I know I spelt colour the wrong way, but that's the spelling that the article uses, so it is what it is, it was an active choice. 😂
You should do a fact video about why colour is spelled color by Americans!

The hilarious bit about the blue meth bit, is that while it's possible that's not really the best meth, which is usually very pale amber. Actually the hilarious bit about the blue meth is that the police kit to test for meth being in a substance was a chemical that causes it to turn blue when the test is positive for meth, but when the show was popular it seemed like everyone was dying their meth blue which totally ruined the value of the testing equipment.
Now how do you know so much about meth🤔

I wouldn't say amber, per say, as that has a bit too much red in the spectrum. High purity (95%+) with a clean crystal lattice looks closer to shattered glass but with a pale iridescent yellow/gold reflectiveness and translucency. With a broken or stepped lattice, it takes on the look of yellow snow as the stepped lattice introduces a cloudiness to the end material.
For note: high purity meth DOES NOT EXIST ON THE STREET because of the ridiculous time expense needed to a) clean the cooking vessels entirely, b) extrapolate pure chemical components from source materials, and c) run the cook at perfect heats and reaction mixes from beginning to end. Meth users are typically not the most quality concerned provided they get their fix and it kicks their neurology into shit, and dealers know that high purity won't make more money, as it's easier and more profitable to cheat and slam out the glass as fast as possible to a greedy market.
Additional note: high purity meth is bad for you, and will scramble your brain faster than a 9mm+P. Street quality meth is POISON, scrambles the brain, and kills the body.

Breaking Bad is a fantastic example of "a protagonist is the main character, not a hero" which validates "anything a protagonist does is 'protagonisty'" because the word has nothing to do with heroics

An interesting note is that Walter doesnt speak to his mother at all in the two years the show is set. Not to tell her he has cancer and even when she found out from Skylar he didn't tell her he was in remission.
This may be a complete stretch but Gus Frings surname. “Fringing” is a term used for an optical problem when a lens (Metaphor for Gus) is unable to bring all wavelengths of colours to the same focal plane, the different wavelengths being a metaphor for the other characters not being on the same wave length.
By that I mean, at one point or another, pretty much everyone who works for him or associates with him are at odds at any given time. Not on the same focal plane.

When you mentioned that the colour yellow represents that you are in Mexico I honestly giggled for a bit and got angry since as a Mexican I can relate to the act of Hollywood simplifies the diversity and the culture richness with the colour yellow.

Well considering yellow also signifies the meth trade... and most of the time the shows set in Mexico... they're dealing with the cartel... it might not have anything to do with Mexico itself
I remember hearing that they weren't able to afford to actually go to Mexico, so all the scenes that take place there and filmed in the States and are colored yellow so people can tell when the setting is now Mexico. But it did have the unfortunate effect of making Mexico get stereotyped as yellow land in American media

Just when you thought there is nothing else that will make me love Breaking Bad more, there is another layer.
I'm half way through watching Saul for the first time. I picked up on the obvious symbolism like Chuck's darkness and blanket represent distance, emotionally and literally.
What I didn't pick up on is the Los Pollos Hermanos has a quite yellow colour scheme and that the store manager wears a black tie despite the employee uniform secondary colour being red.
The thing I love about this show is that the more I think about it the better it gets. Before I watched it, I was waiting for the moment he became a baddass because of all the stuff I'd hear about "I am the one who knocks" but even on first watching I pretty quickly learned that it was never going to happen. I think in the first episode it's pretty easy to see Walter as a sympathetic down on his luck teacher, but with everything you learn about him as the show goes on, it becomes clearer and clearer that there's nothing sympathetic about him. I feel sorry for the guy because he's a piece of shit. If he was a decent guy he'd have done well out of life. He's neither a sympathetic tragic hero nor is he a badass. Just a petty old guy who's out of his depth most of the time. It's nothing short of a miracle he lasted as long as he did.
I actually finished my first ever watchthrough of Breaking Bad yesterday, and it's amazing that I never realized anything about the colors for the show. I'm gonna keep this in mind when I watch Better Call Saul.

I like that they also adapted colour theory into the scenes themselves. Obvious one is Mexico yellow, but then you also have things like the Gene scenes from BCS which are entirely in B&W
I love that the Aztec wasn't available in the color they wanted, which is even referenced when Walt goes to pick up his car from the mechanic.

The thing about Walter's shirts going from green to darker greens to black reminds me of Luke's clothes in the original Star Wars trilogy. It was to represent his closeness to the light side or the dark side. Starts with light clothes, starts wearing darker stuff, then black in RotJ, when we're to wonder if Luke will fall to the dark side... but, the part of that black coat ends up folded down to reveal white again after he spares his father in their final fight.

you were saying, who thinks about this, but I don't know about any good creative that doesn't think in terms of color theory. if you go to an art supply store and take a color wheel off the wall, and flip it over to look on the back, you can see a bunch of really good color theory ideas that work no matter where on the color wheel they fall. I'm pretty sure even Stephen King thinks in terms of color theory, and he just writes words.

I was mid way watching breaking bad and knowing how Walter is approaching a scene based on his shirt changes the scene. Like the hospital scene with halk in critical, but he's wearing a black so he's heisenberg

I can’t believe that in a show in which the main character is more reticent to murder than the standin ‘knows what he’s doing’ drug dealer in the second episode, people still think he’s a good guy.
Additionally, just look at BB fandom, where you can find fanfic/art/etc. where Walter is a good dad to Jesse, and does funny domestic things with him, to see that the opposite happens in the show. After all, fandom has what a show doesn’t.

"Color" and "Colour" are both valid spellings. Most of the time I just naturally go with color (or flavor, or humor, etc), for preference. If someone told me "You're Canadian, you should use the British spelling", I'd say "Since it's not actually wrong, I'll stick with what I feel like doing in this case, thank you. And since there's no combination of letters that make the 'F' sound in the word 'Lieutenant', I'm not going to pronounce it as if there were, either."
I've read some of the names of towns in England. American spelling makes way more sense.
