After going to bed on a Tuesday night, October 9 thinking that hurricane Michael was just gonna be a three waking up October 10 to find out it was a category five and it was too late to leave. I will never put my children through that again if you are in the path of this hurricane, please don’t think oh well it’s just gonna be a three get out you can! I seen brick homes with roofs blown off of them.
@JessMitchell-g1t yeah I'm from Panama city and they waited until an hour before it hit to say evacuate here and I have been through some hurricanes but never anything like michael
I agree! I've lived in Florida and Georgia my entire life, I know a lot about hurricanes. I was in Ft Myers when hurricane Ian hit in 2022. I told everyone it was going to rapidly intensify to a Cat 5 and warned all my coworkers. They all just laughed at me. We evacuated over to Fort Lauderdale and as it turns out we had to spend a week there because no one could get back into Fort Myers, because it was so decimated. I think Helene is going to intensify to a Cat 4 before landfall!
Good for you. Get out. This is gonna be a Big One. I'm in Houston and just hit by Hurricane Beryl. Life sucks so bad. Lot of damage. Climate Change is so real.
The insurance rates are going to become astronomical. I feel so bad for Floridians. I lived in the panhandle for 6 years, and Ivan came through and destroyed everything. It scared me so bad I left and have never returned. It was expensive back then, and I can't imagine what it is now. I pray this isn't as bad as expected and that everyone stays safe and alive. May god keep you and your properties protected, my heart goes out to all of you ❤
Cape Coral here. Hunkered down and ready, the direct hit from Ian made our area much more aware of the devastation possibilities from these hurricanes. Ian’s 2nd anniversary is this Saturday, eerie feeling.
Please get to safety. Bring your pets when you evacuate, and any strays in your neighborhood. If you have elderly or vulnerable neighbors, bring them with you. Get to safety, please!
Maam I understand your sentiment, however, most people are worried about their own homes and lives. and to be fair, Florida strays are tough as nails. The birds have already left. We’ll be ok. Thank you for your concern.

This is the first year I have a family member directly in the path of a major storm, and I'm freaking out. Praying everyone stays safe, not just from the storm itself, but the tornadoes, too. Thank you for everything you do, Sir. 🙏 ❤
I remember that. Eye wall came over my house. lost 2 big oak trees. One hit the house. Lost the electric meter and riser, soffit, and one limb went through roof cracking a truss and poked through a bedroom ceiling. Could have been a lot worse . Clean up was hot and interesting
My house was condemned from Charlie and Ian flooded where I live now so bad I couldn't leave my house for 2 weeks. I don't trust it anymore when they say it's going one place it usually goes somewhere else. I don't want to go through another Charlie or Ian.
This is gonna be bad for Florida. Hurricane Beryl hit us in Houston, and we were without power for 2 weeks. And, tree was blown down and really damaged our roof. Branches hit our cars. All of our fences are down. So, it was bad for us. We had to sleep in our car for a few weeks until we got things starting to get back together. Very depressing. Don't know if I can go thru more Hurricanes. In my opinion, this Hurricane Helene is gonna be much, much worse for Florida than what we were hit in Houston -- lot STRONGER of a storm.
The only silver lining is that we already have crews of linemen arriving in Tallahassee from surrounding states so they’re already staging recovery. It’s gonna suck but Texas’ powergrid is a mess unfortunately

The terrible thing is that I watched a different weather man just trolling through RUclips last night. He was terribly down playing this storm and showing the hurricane Helene going to be hitting landfall at a cat 2. The worst part is he was a Tampa News. That guy could cause so many deaths just because of that. I immediately posted cat 4 just to warn people.
Interesting you’ve mentioned this. I don’t watch the news channels peer say, but I was telling my daughter that what “news” stations I have seen on Google and RUclips seem to be “downplaying” this, for lack of a better word. For example, one station mentioned the hurricane coming “this weekend”.! I feel that gave the impression that people will have Thursday and Friday to get ready which I thought was really misleading
So you’re not going to pick a cat 5 because there’s a low chance of it? Oof, idk, I got a sickening feeling about.. I think it’ll be a cat5, if not, a high end cat4. If it’s gonna be a cat3 alright on Wednesday, it’ll have almost 24 hours to absolutely cook by the time it hits land, maybe I’m wrong. Expect the worst, hope for the best! I live on the Florida/Georgia line, so I’m sure I won’t miss much of the action
The HAFS-B model has the forecasted pressure at the center down to 908 and the HAFS-A at 929. That's absolutely insane. Most of the others seem to agree in the low/mid 940s range which I think is probably a good guess considering the convergence of this prediction among models. I think either way this storm exists in a wildly potent environment. There's next to no sheer and the totality of the surrounding environments will steer this dead over the warmest parts of the loop current right as Helene travels away from the Yucatan and into the Gulf. This is really reminiscent of Ian, but it's getting a later start.
All new residents of Florida within 50 miles of any of their direct hit projections - Pack up and Leave today- head towards Mobile Alabama or further west. as this is no time to be wishy washy - get out today leave asap if you don’t want to sit in traffic for hours… all roads and interstates will become busier as the day goes on.
