My son has two dogs and has had the invisible fence and same collars for going on six years. Both times the line was cut, I fixed them with wire and shrink tubing. It was a different brand of fence and collars though.
I put this system on the list of options to choose from. I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to define my yard limits and some of that is going to be based on the sensitivity of the collar's detection. Does this work using radio waves or induction, basically turning your yard into a giant electromagnetic coil for the collar to sense?
I have a long limestone driveway too. What do you do when it comes time to regrade the driveway? This is why I have been hesitant to get system because I haven’t thought of a good way to cross it. Thanks. Great information.
Dear me got this same kit on twisting wire for about a 10 ft section . I had one heck of a mess now my wire is a twisted mess spent 3 hours un twisting it . Couldn't rent a trencher ended up buying one to far any where that rents them. Need two poeple in my case to install.
We installed according to package directions and tested it successfully. We charged it up and our dog runs through it without flinching. We even trimmed his fur for better connection to no avail. Suggestions? Any suggestions?
It’s a “Garden Edger”, sometimes known as a “Step Edger” or “ Turf Edger”. I found it sliced through the turf grass and soil the easiest for slipping in the wire. Thanks for watching.
How long would you say that it took your dogs to learn the boundary? I also have a bird dog so I’m nervous of her seeing something on the other side and ignoring the boundary. Any tips for training them on the line? Awesome video and super informative thanks!
They both learned very quickly (they only got zapped a couple of times before they realized they couldn't really get much past the bottom of our septic tank hill). What I noticed afterwards is that even if I went to the front of the property they'd both stop and sit on the hill and wait for me to return. The collars beep so it gives them a warning and if they ever did stray a little bit too far they'd hear the beep and feel the vibrating first before the shock. Honestly they don't wear the collars anymore. Even with squirrels or birds they respect the boundaries now. Thanks for watching, it is definitely a good dog fence that has worked really well.
@@ryanaandre I really like that it has the beep/vibrate warning. Does it progress in that order as the dog approaches the boundary? Beep, get closer, vibrate, cross line, zap?
By doing the double loop I was able to leave the backyard open for the dogs to run wherever they please (essentially I’m only blocking them from access to the road). I basically made a horseshoe of the front and side yards to keep the dogs penned to the property without getting close enough to the road.
14 is your best bet. Thick enough to resist breaks in the line but not so thick that it disrupts the signal. I used to work for invisible fence and that’s what I was trained to use.

I used an edger when I put mine in at my old house. About to put it in again at my new house.
Very awesome!
Beautiful property
Love the names ;)
We just got our 3rd one….Remington 😁
rent an EZ Trench from home depot and you can do 500' of wire in thirty minutes.

Did you ever connect a ground wire to it?
What was that shovel like tool you were using?

Is there a reason you chose to double loop versus a single loop? I’m debating how to install mine

@@ryanaandre oh I understand! Great, thank you!
Where did you get the extra collar at
I got it at Cabela’s Canada (they stock them in my local Cabela’s in Ottawa).
The on e thing I had questions on (twisting wire) you didn’t cover! Assume your audience knows nothing!
The wires are twisted so the dogs can cross the area without tone of stimulation. Hopefully that helps.
Unfortunate to hear that the collars didn't even last a year.... That's the biggest issue I've seen with any of these systems.
Will a 12 gauge wire work
It comes with 20 gauge wire, I’m unsure about 12 gauge wire as I’m still running the original 20 gauge that came with it. Thank you
Yes it will. Just a bigger wire. Probably will be better for breakage

Waste of time
