Thanks for this later on review. I am trying to narrow down a system to buy. Nice to know the down falls of a system.

Great info, thanks. I already have this kit (haven't used it yet) so will take extra steps to prolong life of collar unit. Inuse silicone grease with my o-rings on other equipment and will add electrical tape for extra moisture barrier.

I bought one which is arriving soon. I may carefully cover the case with gorilla tape and caulk it. The metal contact tips could be dipped in that goop used to cover tool handles. These are great tips, thank you! This fence will give my dog a happy life!

Bummer. I had high hopes that this unit would solve my pooch containment problem. I sense and your frustration with the collar and it hertz my brain thinking about re engineering the damn thing. The search continues. Thanks

If you cannot find any good alternatives and you have to buy this unit, just beef it up, add some padding and never let it get wet. Don't over tighten the battery screw, and hopefully that should last you a few years :)

Im looking for a compatible collar receiver, 4khz or 7 but am having trouble finding one. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have this system and 7 Labrador Retrievers on it. I have had the system in place for about 15 months. One collar broke within three days, the cover came unsealed and just fell off. The company said another dog had bitten it off. It was not chewed on or had any marks whatsoever on it. The company complained and said they would replace it one time. One of the dogs jumped in a pool with a 10-month-old collar and it quit working. Now at 15 months I just ordered my 6th replacement collar at $159 each. Maybe they don't build them to break but the collars simply do not hold up. I don't replace many batteries, so I have no complaints over that. That's why I am here to see if I can find a cheaper replacement collar. If I keep having collar trouble, I will replace the transmitter and all of the collars. I live in a small town and people drive like dummies on these streets. I am constantly nervous one of the collars has stopped working and one of my dogs will get ran over.

So would you recommend this for the money vs a $2000 system by invisible fence co?

I have the invisible fence gps collars. Worked great to see moved to a farm with metal roofs.

    Are the proprietary batteries rechargeable?

I hope you weren't leaving the collars for more than 8 hours a day. This common ground with any and all ecollars

So these are only a viable solution if you have house dogs that you put outside for part of the day then if they can only be used for 8 hours at a time. Bummer! Thanks for the tip.

Pretty pitiful for a product that you pay nearly $700 for and they send out crap like this. I hooked up mine yesterday and had to call the company to send a replacement lightening surge protector because the cheap plastic connector broke when inserting the wire. If I hadn’t spent a day burying wire I would return it.

I do not believe they built the receivers to break. That’s like saying GM makes cars break at 36k. No
