    Hey guys! Thank you to each and every one of you who has fairly commented about nutritional claims made in this vid. We're so sorry for confusing you all and really do thank you for your diligence. We strive to be the leading authority on food education and so have got the best advice from our top nutritionists to clear it all up:
    *As bananas ripen the starch turns to sugar, so the sugar content increases. Therefore when eating bananas, the riper they are the sweeter they will taste. Eating bananas before they become over-ripe means you will be consuming less sugar than if they were slightly more ripe, however it’s important to remember it is still all natural sugar. Freezing fruits and vegetables before they become over-ripe is a good tip to helping them last longer.
    **Blueberries are high in Vitamin C for immune health and cell protection which helps to prevent the onset of life threatening diseases.

    Bananas are best when ripe, better for you in general too, fuck the calories, nutrition over calorie counting

      +Ruth Kavanagh Yep, calorie counting is such bullshit. E.g, if you can only have a certain amount of calories per day, then that means you could just eat as many chocolate bars/junk food as it takes to hit that calorie goal, right? But your body wouldn't be internally healthy. Nutrition and calories should always be seen as two very different things, that don't necessarily go hand in hand.

      +Areiniah MLS I think you are being a bit inconsiderate and dismissive. Not everyone knows as much about nutrition as you do. Calorie counting is reasonably effective, and it is simple to use for everyone who need to lose some weight.

    Yummy breakfast, but will definitely take more than 3 mins. Especially with cleaning up :)
    P.S.: Despite ripe bananas having more sugar, I would still prefer them over the greener variety, since they are easier to digest and the sugar is natural, thus easy to digest.

    I would argue the point about bananas.. More sugar when ripened further, indeed, but also studies have shown there to be considerably more antioxidants as well. So, that makes the decision a little more complicated.. This is similar to my everyday breakfast, which includes a half pint of blueberries (usually organic but WILD! now because of summer and Ontario!), raw almonds crushed in a pestle and mortar, an organic mixed nut and honey granola cluster cereal and topped with organic cinnamon. Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for this!

    I know you guys mean well, but all of these "nutrition facts" are so random, I don't know why you're constantly trying to push them out. I mean, how is it usable for the average viewer/consumer? Just because you eat blueberries, it doesn't mean you won't get cancer. And you have to eat a ton of bananas to gain any sort of weight from them, it can hardly be regarded as an issue. I wish you would ask how all of this is useful, rather then randomly just bursting it out. Because all it really seems to do is confuse people, which is evident by the comments.

    • @FiXato
      @FiXato 8 лет назад +3

      it's a shame that the guy who used to be the 'naked chef' who didn't care much for all the bullshit around cooking, Mr. "no way; it's not me, it's the food", is focusing more and more on food presentation, self-promotion and branding and 'super' food this and that...
      I'd rather watch some more of 'Jamie at Home', and the old 'Naked Chef' episodes that this bullocks about 'super' foods... Please Mr. Oliver, go back to the basics...

    • @pabloschultz5192
      @pabloschultz5192 8 лет назад

      +FiXato i agree, really do enjoy jamie at home over foodtube but we have to recon what jamie did for the country and the eating habits all over the world. He's pretty close to being the face of fighting obesity.

    • @ThisIsMyFullName
      @ThisIsMyFullName 8 лет назад +3

      ***** Well that's my point. I don't think it makes people eat healthier food, because I don't think they will care about this information. But more importantly, if you are overweight, it doesn't matter that you decrease your chance of getting cancer by eating blueberries. It just matters that you eat any fruit. I can't imagine anyone standing at their vegetable market thinking: "Should I get some strawberries or some blueberries? I better go with the blueberries, because they prevent me from getting cancer." It's just silly to think that.
      There's a difference between making people conscious, and making people confused. It's not just about the message you're trying to convey, it's also about how you deliver it. Are you really making people more conscious about what they eat, or are you just scaring them away?

    • @ThisIsMyFullName
      @ThisIsMyFullName 8 лет назад +2

      ***** I like to think that I'm a realist. But I guess that depends on your perspective.

    Gosh man. A banana is ready to eat when it's speckled. It's full of starch when it's green, which is the same amount of calories but way harder to digest, casusing constipation and (by the way) more likely to be stored as bodyfat. There you go - green banana....pfff

    • @nbs90
      @nbs90 8 лет назад +3

    Many years ago I heard (as a tourist) in Scotland that their morning oats-porridge is salted, in contrast to England - where they put sugar in it (they were very proud with the salting-way). It seems to me I have a lot to catch with modern British food, and I think I'll be happy to fill the (political/gastronomical/ historical... :) gap with your toasted oats, mango, etc. Thanks for uploading.

    "Easy" breakfast. 7-8 ingredients, need to cook half of it on the stove and probably costs more than you'd like to admit.

    I always put instant oatmeal with my fruit. Can you eat oatmeal uncooked?

    This looks lovely Jamie, but I've heard that its not good to eat oats raw since they're difficult to digest? They say to either soak it for 12 hours (e.g. Bircher muesli) or cook to a boil with either water or milk.

    Looks delicious, but does toasting oat without honey or oil make it crunchy ?

    Not crazy about the un-ripe banana. I'd say just eat 1/2 if you want to reduce the sugar content. Plenty there in the mango, blueberries & yogurt. This looks good, except that I was surprised the oats were only toasted & not cooked. This all seems hard to digest, to me. Nope. don't think it's for me. I have cooked oatmeal & blueberries most days.

    Your fennelseeds seems smaller than the ones I've bought here in Sweden. Does the large ones work as well?
