I know what you mean - I actually have a version 2 of this that I never really created a guide for. Instead of opening up the cages onto a floor, I have the floor removed and have the entire thing built over a small body of water. All the raiders drop instantly into the water and as a result are not able to shoot back. It is literally shooting fish in a barrel. I also fenced in the body of water with walls so they can't swim away also. It's a nice way of not having to worry about their levels at all. Thank you, if you want you can even put a swimming poll underneath making them pretty much effortless in taking out since they will not be able to reply on kind.
I mainly watched thos video to see how you got your gunners to spawn. I know its a year old but thank you. I have mine at starlight drive in and have 70 gunner cages. Works wonders. Might i say, if you dont mind mods. "Mr tidy" is a great one for a larger scale farm to stop lag as its a little robot that cleans up dead bodies
You can also build some radstag, yao guai, and deathlclaw cages. You need carrots for radstag, radstag meat for yao guai, and yao guai meat for the deathclaws. These are great because you can shoot them down without any danger to yourself. Only problem is the higher level ones take a lot of bullets. But, you use the gunner farm for loot like you suggested with turrets, then you can safely collect .45 ammo from them to shoot down all the animal mobs. Just a thought for when starting out at lower levels. I did this once, because I got sick of dying to gunner cages. It's just so easy to die at lower levels, most of the higher level gunners can just one shot you. Or throw a grenade up to where you are.
That's absolutely right where you can get taken out at low levels and that's why i also build that additional turret section to effectively take care of the high level spawns. It's basically both a XP and Loot farm as well as a loot only farm.
I usually place the Gunner cages at a height of 4 or 5 stories high so that when I release them, they will just fall to their deaths without needing to do anything else. You need their gear and ammo, not their XP since most enemies get stronger as you level up. So you DON'T want to level up too quickly.
@HattaTHEZulZILLA86 Its a good shout and a great way to get some kit and gear without having to worry about taking any damage yourself. Sure, no XP but the gear alone is worth it for sure.
Here's a question, can't you build the cages over water? Causing them to drop into the water and effectively be defenceless as they cannot fire in water?
Its almost in the centre of the island, in top of a hill inside a small shack. Alternatively you can also press and hold the select button and it should open the build menu.
Thanks for this vid mate. I've tried building stuff but seem to have get limited building options? I don't have any of the warehouse options for instance? Is this a mod or a DLC or do I have to max out a perk? Cheers
They just despawn if i have more than 8 at once or so, the extra gunners released just despawn Edit: okay if i buld more, then i still get a higher total of gunners. Just that some of them despawn either way
Meanwhile, in those three days you’ve slept waiting for your cages to respawn, eight of your Settlements have died due to failure to protect from raids. Thanks Bethesda.
Ha ha that's a good point. I suppose there is one benefit to this also. Only one settlement can be under attack at a time and building cages does attract more attention or increase the likelihood of an attack on that settlement. Chances are your settlement with this build will be more likely to get attack.
Hey Mr trapped in fallout idk if you have made a video on this, but if you you the Veronica glitch to get multiple companions. You can bring them to dlc locations (excluding lonesome road). This allows you to bring in gear to the dead money dlc location and go over the weight limit to zion
That's really cool you can bring them to DLC locations. I used to get all 8 companions in Fallout 3, which was epic. But it was a total pain in the ass if you ever went to Point lookout or something and had to redo the glitch to get them all. Not to mention adjusting your karma for the ones with those requirements.
Thanks for your comment. Yeah, I actually do have a video on that and am planning to also make another one for thr DLC. In fact I was working on the thumbnail for that video just yesterday to see what it may look like (I tend to make my thumbnails well before making my videos ha ha).
I have done this gunner xp thing like a lot of people, but im not happy as i have 30 cages all full but after i kill them all there's only 15 bodies to loot. Does anyone else get this problem.
Hello, awesome content as always. On your thumbnail photo, how could I acquire that exact gunner armor in Fallout 4 because I’ve came across gunners and they are equipped with regular army armor with the white star logo but not the gunners logo. I’ve seen this image in my loading screen but I never seen this armor ?
You actually get this version of the armor by upgrading it. So when you get some combat armor, as you upgrade it the appearance of that combat armor should also change.
@@TrappedInFallout interesting but I haven’t came across any gunner troops with this armor since I’ve faced multiple Gunners and I’m on level 64 and why I try to upgrade the armor, It would say Under the mod slots -Standard, No misc, Paint and I’ve scrolled through all of them and I have every part available to craft the highest body armor and I still don’t see it. @@TrappedInFallout do you know about the duplicating stats, to get like 20 in all specials via survival mode and special books with the conveyor belt? It is a console available glitch I mostly stick to glitches on console

Yes, they do. It may take a few attempts but legendary do spawn. You will probably need to be at a high level for that to happen though, around level 30 I think.
I think this was on very hard mode as I do fast travel during the guide. I found the higher the mode, the more probability of spawning higher level enemies inside cages.
Thats cute, but did you ever tried to use physics as a weapon? I just build the cages as high as possible (Like 5-6 stories) and let gravity do the rest. Saves ammo and is funny af :D
It sure is but I don't think you will get the XP since you did not take them out. That said if your after loot then that a brilliant way to go about it.
Legendary Gunners do spawn as a result of doing this - it's essential the same spawn rate as seeing them out in the commonwealth. I did not manage to find any during recording this video but it has happened to me a few times. Not just gunners but legendary any enemy when using cages (except cats, dogs etc I guess).
That's 4 x 5 and really, your movement SUXX. Best method is to use rocket turrets and grenades. Just throw in some good old eggs, so that all gunners get hit and then turn the turrents of. You get xp and loot.
The best way I can help are through my guides. I am working on making more content for FO4 so hopefully that will help. What sort of help did you have in mind?

Yeah but i have this one thing i do that's not even a glitch, first my intelligence is maxed out so that is something(and you don't even need idiot savant), first i go to the nuka world red rocket workstation(not the normal red rocket and ill explain in a little) so basically i go there, and build a wall because im gonna start a raid, and here's why nuka world red rocket is better, its basically because it has one spawn for raids but normal red rocket has two enemy spawn locations and the wall is for enemys stay away from me, i also get a mirv auto pistol because i need to kill the enemies fast, when the enemies spawn they will all be in a clump, so shoot some mirvs there way and get over 5000-6000 xp quick! God that was a lot. Hope someone makes this work
Wow that seems like a quick way to get a lot of XP very quickly. I think I will have to give it a go myself and see how it all plays out. Thanks so much for sharing.
@@TrappedInFallout there is something you need to know, when starting a raid there will be 3 different enemies that might attack, raiders, gunners and super mutants. The first two are fine but for some reason super mutants are much harder to fight, they also have rocket launchers. Make sure to watch out for them!
@Zaprjl That's right and this is why I like to setup cages in settlements. When you setup a cage then your settlements become much more likely to be attacked by that type of enemy.
Hi Mo, I know of an exploit that you might be interested in. It allows you to get 99 in all S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats (except Int and Chr) and practically unlimited HP, AP, all resistances and melee damage. Let me know if you're interested and I'll explain how you can get it using Survival mode and food.
@@TrappedInFallout thanks. Just warning that it can take a really long time for some of the stats to get high. It can also make the game a bit boring if you push it too far. 1. So you will NEED to be playing on Survival, then you can find the different foods (only food, no chems or alcohol) that boost each of these stats, eg. Bloodbug steak for 15HP, Deathclaw steak for 1Agl, Yao Guai Roast for melee, Radstag steak for carry weight (just check the cooking station to see what does what) etc. After you've collected everything, you can duplicate them if needed, depending on how high you want everything to be. You also need a lot of radaway for this to work. Sleep until you get "well rested" and make sure you are hydrated and well fed. Before your well rested buff goes away, you will then need to eat 1 of each of the food you collected and then take a radaway. It permanently stacks, so sleep again, rinse and repeat and you got max SPECIAL, 5k HP, 1k AP, 2k in all resistances (except poison, I think), 10k in carry weight and 50k in melee damage. SPECIAL caps at 99 but everything else can be as high as you want. A few seem to know about the Yao Guai Roast, even less know about the Radstag steak and only a tiny fraction of them are even aware they can stack. There are probably a small handful that have done what I've done with every stat but I can't find any threads, sites or videos on it. Hope this helps, just let me know if you have any questions and feel free to do what you like with this info.
@liamdealmeida9914 Thank you so much for sharing that. I actually did hear of it but it's not been described to me in this sort of detail and ive not done it before so technicallyspeaking its still new to me. Good thing you pointed this out. We can all breathe again. Phew!
Sheesh, that was quite the complex but very effective build and trap buddy! Great share for your community!😃🤘
Thanks so much Reckless. It's a little complex but it really pays off in the end. Lots of XP which is nice. Thanks so much for your comment.
Brutal, ingenious and devious. I like it 😈
Thank you, if you want you can even put a swimming poll underneath making them pretty much effortless in taking out since they will not be able to reply on kind.
Great video man I’m about to start playing again and will definitely try this!
That's great, I hope you have a lot of fun building your own farm. I know I do.
Ha ha I had no idea about this little mod. I wish this was really a thing in the base game. Thanks for checking out my guide and for your comment.
You can also put tesla arcs and the like that get turned on as soon as the power is put on
That would work lovely, easily taking out enemies with a switch.
@@TrappedInFallout i tried, it didn't work at level 17. I got a colonel 3 majors, four captains, 2 sergeants, 1 conscript, and 5 regular gunners
The tesla arcs hurt but did not kill and three of the guys escaped containment via clipping
Very nice tutorial im gonna do it in a few month because right im playing a lot of ttw
That's great, hope you have fun with this one. I am plying basically 3, NV and 4 but I tend to do that all the time ha ha.
Finally a video that talks you through thanks m8 ❤
No problem at all, I'm happy that it helped.
Great video series!
What are the relevant perk or level requirements to build such a "morally questionable" XP and loot farm ?
Well, Idiot Sarvant helps...
WE MAKING A GUNNER MOB FARM WITH THIS ONE!!!
Ha ha basically yes. And you can replace the Gunners with others also and do the same thing.
How do u unlock gunner cages 0:20
You need the Wasteland Workshop DLC to access the cages and need Power Generators to unlock them.
Here's a question, can't you build the cages over water? Causing them to drop into the water and effectively be defenceless as they cannot fire in water?
Yes you can, it may work out to be better since they can't fire back. Shooting fish in a barrel. Great tip.
Where is the Spectacle Island Workshop located?
Its almost in the centre of the island, in top of a hill inside a small shack. Alternatively you can also press and hold the select button and it should open the build menu.
You can seal the gunners in and they should still show up in the cages
They should do, yes. And even better if you can get some high level gear ones also.
Thanks for this vid mate. I've tried building stuff but seem to have get limited building options? I don't have any of the warehouse options for instance? Is this a mod or a DLC or do I have to max out a perk? Cheers
Foe the gunner cages you do need the Wasteland Workshop DLC. I hope this answers your question.
They just despawn if i have more than 8 at once or so, the extra gunners released just despawn
Edit: okay if i buld more, then i still get a higher total of gunners. Just that some of them despawn either way
Ah that's interesting. I am sure I had had upwards of ten on my screen at the same time.
I can't say I have seen this issue myself. I've been using this method for years now and not really had this issue. Sorry, I can't help sadly.
Just a minor detail, your build was a 4x5. 1:12
Yes your right. I dont know how I managed to miss count that while it was there right there in front of me as I was building it lol.
Very helpful, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for checking out my video and for your feedback. I hope that you enjoyed it.
Thank you very much😊
No problem at all, many thanks for checking out my video and for your comment.
Thanks again for another amazing video👍
No problem at all, thanks so much for checking out my guide and for your comment.
hello, can you tell me where did you build it ? All my settlements are full of settlers.
I bult this on Spectacle Island which is probably the biggest land mass that you can build on in Fallout 4.
This one is fun!!
I agree. Anytime settlement that I don't find fitting for a settlement easily turns into a farming spot for me instead.
What DLCs do you need to do this and for the warehouse building too?
For the building you should be good to go. For the cages you will need the Wasteland DLC.
You can do the scrap/store glitch to get 250 caps back everytime
That's a good point and great observation, thanks for your advice.
Will these ever spawn legendary enemies?
Yes there is a chance of spawning legendary. You need to be at least level 8 and if possible play on higher difficulty levels.
I'm gonna try this!
Best of luck, I hope you have fun with this one.
What level and location did you come across this armor 🤷🏼
So, don't forget to go ahead to go ahead.
Lol I do say that even though I try not to.
I have to do a 100% achievment run for 4 after my new vegas i may use this i also need more tips for my run tbh
It's a nice way to get some nice high level loot early on as well as some nice XP. It can help alot.
@@TrappedInFallout do you know about the duplicating stats, to get like 20 in all specials via survival mode and special books with the conveyor belt? It is a console available glitch I mostly stick to glitches on console
@Coyotebible Yeap, grab the item just before it gets pulled in. Or use Dogmeat to get the item for you. It's a well known glitch that I hope to make a guide about at some point.
@@TrappedInFallout I use conveyor belt and by the time I'm done spending 2 hours during to 118 books I'm set my stats can't go any higher usually have 16+ in all
@Coyotebible That sounds really good. I manage to get mine about that too. I only get my Charisma and Endurance to around 18-20 I think.
How do u unlock gunner cages
To unlock the cages you will need to attach a Power Genertor to them and will need the Wasteland Worlshop DLC.
Perfect guide sr
No problem at all, many thanks for your feedback.
Thanks Moe!
Thanks so much Jack for checking out my video and for your comment.
@@TrappedInFallout
I think an electrician just died of shock somewhere
Ouch, they may do given the number of regulatory rules broken to setup this system.
Build it underwater, and make it into a mekshift cage with wooden floors, then drop grenades into it. Comically evil lol.
Double bonus, they won't shoot back as they will be busy swimming.
Do Legendary Gunners ever spawn?
Yes, they do. It may take a few attempts but legendary do spawn. You will probably need to be at a high level for that to happen though, around level 30 I think.
What mode is this ?
I think this was on very hard mode as I do fast travel during the guide. I found the higher the mode, the more probability of spawning higher level enemies inside cages.
Will it spawn legendary enemies?
Yes, there is always the chance of that happening.
@@TrappedInFallout i think one trap at the bottom would do the trick, no? ;)
Build 3rd switch with laser turrets and bam
Yea that works also ha ha.
Oops i built another, bigger cage and released the captured deathclaw on them. Popcorn time
Ouch that must have been a great show to behold.
I noticed that no legendary gunners spawned 🤔 then it’s a waste of time
Legendary Gunners do spawn as a result of doing this - it's essential the same spawn rate as seeing them out in the commonwealth. I did not manage to find any during recording this video but it has happened to me a few times. Not just gunners but legendary any enemy when using cages (except cats, dogs etc I guess).
0:17 Guess I will build it by Vault 88 … Also I’m the 169th Like 😈😂
Ha ha makes sense. And thank you so much for liking my video. Every little helps and that will certainly help.
That's 4 x 5 and really, your movement SUXX.
Best method is to use rocket turrets and grenades. Just throw in some good old eggs, so that all gunners get hit and then turn the turrents of. You get xp and loot.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. Good advice, much appreciated.
Do i need the DLC for this? (Edit) I finished watching the video. Thx for guide 👍👍
No problem at all, many thanks for watching the entire video. It really helps so thank you very much.
Hey i was wondering if you can help us doing a 100% on fallout 4 because i want to beat fallout 4 with a 100% on every dlc and vanilla
The best way I can help are through my guides. I am working on making more content for FO4 so hopefully that will help. What sort of help did you have in mind?
@TrappedInFallout mainly I have learn alot of glitches from you (thanks alot) but I'm honestly not sure because I love fallout 4 so much that's I wanna do a 100% on it
@aperson7177 Oh wow, thank you. I wish you the best of luck on trying to get 100%. I am hoping once I have covered some DLC content for NV I will be making lots more content for FO4.
“Build a floor that is 4x4”
*builds a 5x4 floor*
And this is forever immortalised in this video lol - your not the first nice folk to point that out and will certainly not be the last lol. Thanks again for checking out my guide.
@@TrappedInFallout no problem, the video is very helpful!
do we need mods or dlc for this
Nope, you don't. This works in the vanilla version of the game. As well as the glitched weapon you see in the end of the video.
@@TrappedInFallout Good video but that's false info. You need the contraptions workshop and the wasteland workshop dlc's to make this farm
rolling metal door does not appear in my warehouse door section. Do I need a perk ?
Nope, it should automatically appear when a cage captures a gunner. You would need to make sure that it is powered and then wait for it to trigger.
Is that a mod or DLC ?
Yes, you need the Wasteland workshop DLC which is what has the Gunner Cages.
You're the glitch god.
Lol I would not go that far but I will take the complement, thank you very much.
Hi Liam, thanks for your comment. Yeah, absolutely. I would be happy to hear more about the glitch. Sounds really OP.
I will 100% look into this and if I turn it into a video then will let you know. Sounds really good and super OP.
@@TrappedInFallouthave you made a video on this?
@lewisevans5788 No, not yet. Its something I hope to look into soon but currently I am trying to work my way through some DLC content for NV. But I am hoping to soon.
Huh, it’s like a zombie farm in Minecraft.
Ha ha that's an interesting comparison. If I ever manage to get myself free of Fallout then Minecraft is probably where I will end up.
Turrets just waste of xp- half of value away. In the matter of fact you could build gravitational trap, there are all the gunners will hit on the ground and die, but such the approach is an xp wastefull too.
I have another solution, you can build the farm over water and let them 'dive' in. They it's a case of shooting fish in a barrel.
If you have to repair all 16 cages it will cost 800 caps per use. Ugh.
True but the kit you get from the enemies will probably sell for far more than 800 caps.
You are trapped in fallout 4 *deep inhaled breath of shock* oh no, quickly sir there's a level 8976 legendary mythic deathclaw manning a vertibird he can get you out of this wasteland.
Holy, now that would be a fight to remember.
What I was meant to say instead of a brotherhood soldier driving a vertibird.its the deathclaw driving it but it's been sent to get you oit
@OwenWilliams-ox9kd Not entirely sure I would trust a Deathclaw, then again I'm not sure I would trust anyone in the commonwealth/wasteland.
It's all about trust I forgot I get it even though this claw was specifically tasked to bring you out of the commonwealth (because I saw your scene so I thought it would be cool to say this in the first place) you still don't trust it.
@OwenWilliams-ox9kd Fair enough - anything that can help me then that would be great. That said I've been trapped for a long time now and I have grown to like it very much now ha ha.
Bro build a minecraft farm in fo4
Ha ha it was something inspired me to try this. When I'm not trapped in Fallout, I do dabble in some Minecraft.
Unfortunately I don’t have A MILLION BOTTLECAPS 😂 so expensive
You can always use the caps glitch which is a reliable way to make caps or you can build a water farm and sell water to also get caps.
How To Build A Gunner Farm
1) Build floors. “But before you do that…”
2) Choose flat land. “But before you do that…”
3) Build walls. “But before you do that…”
4) Build cages. “But before you do that…”
5) Build upper floors. “But before you do that…”
6) Build stairs. “But before you do that…”
TIF, have you ever LISTENED to yourself give direction in one of your videos? 😂
