I woke up one morning to go to work, made some coffee and I started hearing people talking in my backyard LOL, I went outside with my cup of coffee just to find a contractor who my neighbor had hired, building a brick wall, only problem is that the contractor took down MY wooden fence in order to build the brick wall, well, I didn't say shit, I went to work, when I came home later that day, the wall was completed, I didn't think anything of it, couple days went by, Saturday comes around and I am just chilling at home, my neighbor knocks on my door, says he wants to talk to me about the wall he had built, saying he wanted me to pay for half of it, I asked him if he didn't think it would have been better to ask me BEFORE he tore down my fence rather than after?, he looked at me like I was stupid, told me that he didn't think I'd mind because it would raise property value, and I told him that I agree that the fence would raise property value, but that it was MY fence and he shouldn't just assume I would give him money, I even gave him an example, I told him, Imagine I wake up tomorrow and I find my car had brand new tires all of a sudden, and a few days later some guy comes over asking me to pay for the tires that I did not request, I didn't give anyone permission to remove my tires, let alone install new ones, wouldn't that guy be lucky I didn't just call the cops on him?... he left and never spoke to me again.

You are doing the right thing 1) try to ignore his attempts at getting you to lose your cool 2) *continue to document* that you are remaining calm even though they are harassing you 3) complete the fence to show you are physically creating a barrier so that you do not have to interact 4) make police reports and continue then over 30 - 90 days (depends on your state/country laws) to have an official record of issues - the police don't have to do anything but you are making the police report as documentation of an outstanding issue 5) make video and written documentation of *every* event and who in his family participated in harassment 6) get a restraining order against him and his children for harassment - the police reports and your documentation over 30 - 90 days are your evidence 7) follow through with the restraining order if he breaks it. Don't feel sorry for his family. Follow through. Hopefully, he gets it that you are finished arguing with him and you have moved on to taking action against the harassment that impacts his freedom and his wallet. *Right now, he is playing a game with you and enjoying himself; you need to let him know the game is over.* 8) As a *last* resort, have a real estate lawyer (you may have free services through work or your home title insurance may cover the cost) send him a letter with the survey, protection order, and warn him of legal and civil consequences 9) Take him to civil court. You can do that yourself with out a lawyer and show the harassment, police reports, restraining order, etc. Don't be annoyed any more - he feeds off your anger - get determined like you were digging those holes. *Treat him and the situation with cold formality.* Change your approach to him and watch him get the message that something is about to go down. Sorry this is happening to you.

I woke up one morning to go to work, made some coffee and I started hearing people talking in my backyard LOL, I went outside with my cup of coffee just to find a contractor who my neighbor had hired, building a brick wall, only problem is that the contractor took down MY wooden fence in order to build the brick wall, well, I didn't say shit, I went to work, when I came home later that day, the wall was completed, I didn't think anything of it, couple days went by, Saturday comes around and I am just chilling at home, my neighbor knocks on my door, says he wants to talk to me about the wall he had built, saying he wanted me to pay for half of it, I asked him if he didn't think it would have been better to ask me BEFORE he tore down my fence rather than after?, he looked at me like I was stupid, told me that he didn't think I'd mind because it would raise property value, and I told him that I agree that the fence would raise property value, but that it was MY fence and he shouldn't just assume I would give him money, I even gave him an example, I told him, Imagine I wake up tomorrow and I find my car had brand new tires all of a sudden, and a few days later some guy comes over asking me to pay for the tires that I did not request, I didn't give anyone permission to remove my tires, let alone install new ones, wouldn't that guy be lucky I didn't just call the cops on him?... he left and never spoke to me again.
