    The front sight installation for the TX22 Competition is different than shown for the standard TX22 shown in this video. The screw with brass washer did not fit through the hole on the bottom of the slide on my TX22 Competition. I sat the screw, with brass washer attached, on the short end of the longer 1.5 mm Allen wrench, and used the Allen wrench as a "hook" to place the screw and washer through the barrel opening and into the front sight mounting hole. I then held the screw in place and gently rotated the front sight by hand onto the protruding screw until it caught a couple threads. I repositioned the Allen wrench through the hole in the bottom of the slide, and tightened the front sight screw.
    Regarding the rear sight, I could not remove the slotted-head hold-down screw. I applied serious torque from multiple screwdrivers, heat, and as much bad language as I could muster without success. Called Taurus CS, and they recommended that I take it to a gunsmith. Even though the rear sight assembly was obviously off center in the dovetail, and was screwed (or Loctite'd) so hard that it would not move, Taurus' only suggestion (repeatedly) was to take it to a gunsmith to remedy the poor workmanship during original assembly. My gunsmith also could not get it unscrewed, so he drilled it out and tapped in a larger screw. The new Tandemkross rear sight was then found to be so tight as to require filing and fitting to press it into the dovetail.

      I also suffered the same with the rear sight I was able to break the screw loose but was really hard to and installing the new rear sight was even more difficult. I messed up the finish on the sight a bit but covered it up with a black paint marker. After an hour and a half I finally managed to get it fully seated in the groove

      I purchased two tx22s at the same time, early april of 2022.
      Took one to the range. Mag1 shot fine. Mag2 failure to feed issues.
      Took the mags apart. One spring is 1.5" longer than the other.
      Went to clean the pistol and the rear sight had fallen off in the pistol rug.
      To Taurus's defense, they sent a new screw in 4 days.
      Curious, I grabbed the other tx22 and the screw was Loctited in like no other. I ended up destroying the rear sight to remove the screw. That is when I came across tandemkross and decided to get the Eagle Eye replacement.
      Not sure about why these are Hit or Miss, I hear good things about them.
      Seems like quality control is hit or miss.
      Waiting for my Eagle eye sights so I can put them on pistol #2 and see if it has less issues than the first.

      Yeah I’ve had the same exact issue, and managed it get it off luckily. The amount of glue on the slide is absolutely disgusting, really disappointed in Taurus’ workmanship too. Installing the new one is a complete pain in the ass. I strongly believe the cutout on the slide is lacking the width I need for the grooves on this new rear sight. Not really sure if it’s because I have the American flag slide or what, but this is absolutely ridiculous. Working on this crap makes AR’s look like a LEGO set.

    Thank you for making this video and the sights. I haven't taken it to the range yet, but installation was easy thanks to the video. And it's so nice have some sight upgrades for the TX22. It's such an awesome gun in so many ways, but the sights are a weak point. The rear sight installation was as straightforward as the video suggests. Snug to get it in the grooves, for sure, but not too bad.

    I just ordered a set for one of my two Taurus TX22s. The factory sights aren't the best and hopefully these are much better. They should hold zero and not fall down like the factory rear sight does. I am hoping they are more positive clicks in adjustment as well. We shall see and I hope it goes ok.

But thanks for letting us know, we'll be keeping an eye on them as we continue producing them to make sure everything stays within tolerances and they don't get so tight they don't fit at all.

    Thank you very much for the new product and tutorial. Is there anything special that needs to be done to install the peep sight you mentioned comes with the set? Also, I prefer a Red Fiber front sight, can the Green Fiber be changed out? Lastly, it looks like the sights are Suppressor height, is that true? Thanks again! Keep up the great work and quality product builds.

    • @TANDEMKROSS
      @TANDEMKROSS  4 года назад +3

      The install process for the peep sight insert is similar to that of our "Eagle Eye" peep sight insert for Williams Fire Sights (the inserts themselves are basically identical). If you take a look at our video for that, you should have no trouble doing it for this sight: ruclips.net/video/gz6ZLJtXDsU/видео.html
      All TADNEMKROSS fiber optic sights come with an additional red light pipe that you can install if you prefer that.
      Last, it depends on the supressor. We haven't tested it with a huge variety of supressors, but to get the full range of adjustability we wanted, we had to make this front sight considerably taller than our previous one. So it should work with most supressors.

    This sight set saved my TX22. I replaced the sights with steel sights and when tightening the rear sight screw the threads in the receiver stripped! Sure this will happen to a lot of other people also. Was about to give up on the gun then saw these sights from Tandemkross. Bought them and they work fine, are held down by two set screws instead of the screw in the middle. Easy to see the sights with the fiber-optics in them. My only complaint is on my gun the new front sight is too high. In order to get it to shoot to point of aim I have to raise the rear sight almost all the way up and it looks weird sitting that high. They could have made the front sight just a little lower unless it is just my gun.

    • @jimhans1
      @jimhans1 4 года назад

      Every TX22 we’ve sold to customers and the ones we have ourselves have shot between 5”-13” HIGH at 15 yards. A taller front sight is the norm for this gun. If yours is too tall, that mean Taurus actually built your decently.

    • @andreawhalen4142
      @andreawhalen4142 Год назад

      i was just about to say something about that sears tower front sight when i read this comment, that sight is way too tall, i'm betting many have the problem you have so i'm not buying the set unless they come up with a shorter front sight. This crazy tall front sight stuff is all over the pistol industry, some 1911 pistols come with a sight so tall you run out of rear sight adjustment and have to file down the front sight, i wish they would all stop doing this shit.

      @@TANDEMKROSS I wanted to do a little follow up on the install of the Tandemkross front sight. My only reason for doing so is that it may help someone else. We are talking about items that can be retrofitted onto several different guns, so sometimes the simple things become difficult to remedy so we all could use another persons idea when you just don’t know what to do. So I have the 2 Taurus Tx22 Flag edition models. When I installed the first one, it went smooth as could be, no problems. The second one was an hour long ordeal but I finally got the solution to get er done. The factory screw going through the slide was so tight, it wouldn’t budge no matter what I did. The head of the screw is so shallow and the wrench can only be used on the longer side because of the height of the side walls on the slide. The other end of the wrench is 1/2” long so it not only sucks because it’s too low, but there’s not enough length to hold on to for any kind of leverage to turn the screw when putting the longer side into the screw head. I tried turning the sight with pliers overhead but the screw and the sight would both turn. Either the factory put too much locktite on the screw and the two were welded together, or it was cross threaded. I even tried heating it up with a blow drier thinking it would soften, no dice. Tried putting oil on the screw head maybe it would work in and loosen, nope. Ultimately I got a longer straight Allen wrench that was in one of those Allen wrench assorted plastic holders, it has wrenches on each end, that are hinged and you flip up the one you need. It gives you leverage while I held it in the screw head hole and then the wife used a pair of pliers and turned the sight and that did the trick. So you definitely need a second pair of hands when this happens. I do want to say I called Tandemkross when the problem happened and I was out of ideas. I felt stupid telling them about it but the rep assured me that it’s happened before. I asked if they had any ideas and they pretty much said to do all that I already tried to do. They are very nice people there and I know that woman felt bad about bit, so I do appreciate their efforts, after all this was not their fault. Maybe if Tandemkross sees this they might consider a different kind of wrench to send with the sight, like a mini T wrench that you can actually grip should this happen to someone else. I tried to describe the situation the best I could, hope this helps someone else

      Hi King! So our everything kit is more geared towards the standard model BUT the only part that will not fit will be the guide rod replacement. The rear sight may be very snug to make sure that it does not shift and lose your zero. We recommend using a rubber mallet to get it in the dovetail.
      As far as the guide rod goes, I'll make a note to customer service. Go ahead and give them a call, if you are running the competition you won't have a need for that part since the guide rod on the competition upper is smaller.

    Question about the rear sight. How do those 2 screws hold the sight in place? Do they move an insert in the sight up against the edge of the cut-out in the slide with one pushing forward and the other to the rear? Just wondering why Tandemkross didn't use the same mounting hole that the factory sight uses?

  • @fortyampbreakerr6234
    @fortyampbreakerr6234 3 года назад +1

    Rear sight install was difficult. I would wait to do the front sight until you handle the rear. I sanded the rear angle corners that fit into the grooves with 1k grit just enough to get the paint off then beat the snot out of the rear sight using a nylon hammer then a nylon punch. Set screws? Lol ok I guess ill use them but really no point...but I haven't shot it yet hopefully the sight is good cus it isn't ever coming off. I noticed the piece that holds the red light rods pivots up and down ever so slightly but it stays in whichever position even if I shake the shit out of the tx22. Is this intentional? It has to be better than the OEM sights but I won't find out until lent is over but Jesus is worth giving up shooting for 40 days. I think the sights sit a little high but I hope to get a rimfire suppressor soon so maybe it all works out in the end? And we have received no customer feedback suggesting there is any issue with it over the couple of months its been on the market.

    Why would you guys make a sight that has 2 retaining screws instead of a single screw to go into the original hole? Seems like a recipe for disaster to me and I'm quite sure others as well.

    Just purchased a set for my G2c. I'm in my 70"s and have been repairing and building firearms for over 40 years. These sights are in my opinion total garbage. After taking my vertical mill to machine all the imperfections off the front sight so it would sit level on the slide I attached it. Before this it looked like a rocking chair on top of the slide. The rear dove tail was just as bad and after tightening the clamping screws left a very unacceptable gap. With all due respect these sights that I purchased????? Lets just say I could not with a clear conscience recommend them. Sorry....

    These sight are junk
    The rear sight is incredibly flimsy
    In terms of brightness The fiber on the rear sight is dull at best
    This maybe the worst sight I’ve ever seen
