Thank you VERY much! Gotta say, this is the most detailed and explicit video I have ever had the privilege to use. I bought a Taurus TX22 Competition last week and after having had a bunch of stove-pipes and FTFs in my first outing, and after reading the forums, etc. I decided to install the new extractor you make. Before I did that, based on many other comments, I also disassembled all three of the magazines, brushed them out, wiped them out, then applied a light coating of a Teflon-based product. This one is called Super-Lube and seems to be the equivalent of Mag Slick, recommended by another great RUclipsr (Guns and Politics, I believe). But I couldn't get Mag Slick locally and found Super-Lube at Ace Hardware so we'll see how that goes. Anyway, after that I went to your video, watched it a dozen times, followed each step, screwed it up twice and had to disassemble it but each time found the correction to my screwup in your terrific video! Long story but I got 'er done...haven't shot it yet, of course, but the fact that a mechanically marginal person like me could follow your steps and do the installation of the extractor at all is a win! So....best ever, a ten+ for my needs and in my book. Two suggestions...seems to me that you never mention lube anywhere. The firing pin block sticks and does not "spring back" slightly unless you have a light lube around it. Second suggestion, based on my doing this step and failing at least two-dozen times....putting that spring back in at the end and sliding the plate over it was macro difficult for me and my old fingers. I finally watched more closely and realized your hand position had you pulling back the firing pin block just slightly while you maneuvered it...the plate won't even go on if you don't do that. Then I finally got the plate over the spring by perseverance but it would be great to know a little trick to make that easier. Now the proof will be in the pudding...stocked up on CCI 40 grain mini mag smooth head, which seems recommended by many, and hope to find at least some of my stove-pipe and FTF issues go away next week when I go out. Sorry for the ramble-gram, but thanks again!
It is great to see you made an extractor for the TX22. I have it already and I have to install it one of these days. :-) More importantly, please make an improved firing pin. I am getting tired of light rim strikes in a gun, which does not have 1000 rounds through it.
This procedure is not for the faint of heart. Watched a gunsmith do it for me, got home and worked some rounds through it and it jammed. I disassembled and reassembled and it worked.
Thank you! Just bought my TX22 a week ago! I have already cleaned it after 500 rounds. But when it comes to a complete field strip, now I know! Thank you!!
Very clear instructions. I had a very hard time getting the extractor in place. It was easier to remove the block it fits into, put the extractor in place, and remount that block. Just a roll pin to remove that mounting block.
@@CCpewpew Easy. Drive out the pin that holds the block in place that houses the extractor. Than that block can be pushed out. I had to use a brass punch to remove the block, as it’s a tight fit. Put the extractor in place, and replace the block. The block starts easily, but use a hammer and punch to drive it all the way back in. Install the pin.
@@blaiwayw1 In which direction does the block come out? Toward the muzzle? Toward the back plate? Down towards the lower? I've been trying to get the OEM extractor out for about 30 minutes now... Thanks in advance!
To remove the extractor, once the spring and plunger are removed a short blast of canned air knocks it right out. Keep an eye on it! Your 5 round mag extensions are great. Turned my 10 rounders into 21 rounds!
My extractor spring is in low earth orbit. Really wish I could buy a few extractor springs from tandemkross instead of buying the spring kit. But I did because it’s my only choice.
Is there any good way of telling the factory extractor from yours? I have the SCR model and am getting poor extraction at times. The snap caps have a larger rim and extract well, but live ammo extracts poorly, sometimes not making it out before the slide comes back and grabs it. It also won’t eject after a stage (use it for competition) manually, I have to fire that round off to clear it from the chamber. My feed ramp is not polished like it’s supposed to be considering it’s an SCR and I’m figuring Taurus didn’t install the talon extractor either (it did have the comp in the box- maybe they shoved a standard competition model in the SCR box) but since both appear to be the same color, not sure if there’s a way to tell.
Fairly upfront install. Had to play with the new extractor a lot to get into proper place. Sadly it doesn’t seem to resolve my issue with using Federal Automatch ammunition. The 1st shot I took fired but failed to extract. The case gets stuck in the chamber and the claw never picks it up. Cleared that one by hand and the second shot stove piped the spent casing. Had one failure to extract with Standard CCI out of 31 rounds fired. It also seems like my pistol runs better when the magazines are downloaded by one to 15. Obviously this issue was here before the Eagle claw extractor so it’s not any reflection on this product, I was just hoping it corrected it. TX22 Competition brand new (1 week old) with 517 rounds through it.
Hey there! Give Tyler a call at tech support. Even if it is unrelated to the eagles talon itself, we'd love to help you with getting this cycling! 603-369-7060
Hi Bill. I have a Taurus TX 22 comp. The issue is that if there is an unfired round left in the barrel the extractor will not grap it a pull it back to be ejected. For example, I have a 10-round mag and only fire 4 rounds. I remove the magazine with 5 rounds in it leaving one unfired round in the barrel. All four fired rounds worked perfectly and were extracted and ejected. However, the unfired round in the barrel will not extract by manually pulling the slide back. I use CCI Standard ammo. I have cleaned the gun and the bullet drop test into the barrel works perfectly. Any ideas?
I have a Taurus TX22 "Competition" model, that's having a failure to feed issue, that I was wondering if it could be extractor related??? The gun was bought new this year, and has about 1,250 rounds through it. Maybe once every 100 rounds, a round will fire, but the next round will not properly feed. ONLY THE TIP OF THE NEXT ROUND WILL ENTER THE BARREL, the rest of the cartridge will be angled downward, and the slide will slam into the brass casing, badly damaging the round and jamming the gun. It first happened with CCI "Mini Mags" @ 1,235 FPS, then again even worse yesterday when I used CCI "Velocitor" @ 1,435 FPS; when I had three FTF in roughly 100 rounds. Not surprisingly, the damage to the side of the rounds, was much much worse with the higher velocity ammo. The gun was cleaned prior to my range visit, so that's not an issue. Due to multiple hand issues, the Taurus TX22 is my EDC, so I'd like to make it more reliable. This is the only issue I've ever had with the gun, which is an absolute joy to shoot. If you don't think it's the extractor, I'd appreciate any other thoughts, or suggestions???
I had the same problem with jams and FTF. Take the mags apart. Use a 44 caliber mop with a slight amount of silicon oil to lube the spring channel and the follower channel. After this, cycle the follower for awhile. The follower should move very freely. Notice that the new mags tend to feel like the follower is dragging.
@@blaiwayw1 Thank you! I had already found another video that demonstrated the same advice as confirmation, so my magazine cleaning materials have already been ordered. Thank you again!!!
Would also like to know if u all are in the process of masking a rear fiber optic back site that will use the factory set screw i have all ur upgrades except the extractor waiting for it to come in stock but would love a rear sight that matched
def must be nice to have an extractor slot milled properly to have it pull out. spent over an hour just wiggling the pos for nothing and this was my 3rd attempt over the last year. Love the gun but damn Taurus does some downy type shit most of the time.

It’s been awhile since I did this. In my mind, the block is removed toward the muzzle. Tandemkross would be able to give you the answer for certain.
