The shape of the head doesn't bother me too much but the eyes really bugs me. They have Ashoka with blue contact lenses but they couldn't do the Grand Inquisitor? I still really hope that the trailer just used unfinished scenes and they forgot to add the black eyes in post production for it.
The inquisitors all come across as being young adults, which suggests to me that they are all former padawans or inexperienced Jedi Knights. As powerful as Vader is, he himself is quite inexperienced in the ways of the dark side so probably not the best person to teach them. It feels like the inquisitors were doomed to fail from the beginning.
because they were made to be, if an inquisitor got to powerful they were killed of, if they killed all the jedi left? they would all be killed of. there was no retirement plan for inquisitors! besides they were made to be doomed to fail
DV didn't need to teach them how to use the Dark Side though. He needed to teach them how to stop fighting defensively. Most Jedi forms revolve around a "wait and see" style because they view violence as the last possible option. The Sith are the opposite. They were never going to be Sith, only ever Acolytes, but they still had to be broken out of those habits. Given a newly rebuild Vader 1v1ed the Grand Inquisitor then crippled each of the others without even trying... I'd say he was probably the best for the job at the time.
Not quite. ( see wiki ).The tenth brother was a former jedi master that lost hope in the decisions of the jedi council and The Grand Inquisitor was a jedi temple guard ( at least jedi knight) who was present in Ahsoka trial. Both this individuals were full adults when they lost their trust in the decisions of the jedi order.
The dark side isn't mastered by focus and balance like the light side is, though, so experience is mostly irrelevant in that realm. The only form of "experience" darth vader's role required was that of lightsaber combat, and we all know he was an outstandingly prolific user of Form V.
But Inquisitors were never meant to be anything other than replaceable tools hunting fledgling force wielders before they become too great a nuisance. They can't be too powerful or they would pose threat to Vader and Sidious, so they are not taught any Sith lore. Even their combat style revolves heavily around built-in advantages of their lightsaber.
Palpatine: I will keep them weak and ignorant so that they could never rival my own power. Also Palpatine: Ugh, they are so weak and ignorant, I hate them! Fuck off, old man lol xD
I will admit the inquisitors were incompetent but I do believe the Grand Inquisitor was not worthy of such harsh ridicule as the others and with more training (even though they were supposed to be grunts) could be quite powerful.
well, they are meant to be incompetent so they could never rival Vader or Palpatine. moreover, they were actually even worse in legends as vary few even came to fight even single a Jedi, and when they did they almost always ended up dead even Grand Inquisitors, for example, the famous Legends Inquisitor Jerec had the power of Valley of Jedi on his side and he still lost.
I see your point. He did seem to be more trained being a former Jedi and all. To me it seemed like he knew what he was doing was wrong and he just sort of gave up to do the right thing and let go and fell to his death, a martyr with no songs is a sad story.

@@InvaderG Not necessarily. I mean, the Grand Inquisitor was a Temple Guardian prior to turning to the Dark Side. They were very formidable combatants, and he was a fully trained Jedi, not a half-trained nobody. He also knew Kenobi and had ample time to study his combat form. That said, he was enjoyable in Kenobi!
If I'm wrong correct me, The grand Inquisitor was a temple guard so any jedi padawan was an easy target because the Inquisitor was already fully trained in 1 or 2 styles of defence but a night or master would've slayed them in a heart beat. "If they hadn't been in hiding for years apon years" IMO palpatine used them like pawns knowing fine well with or without offence training! A jedi night or master would be able to defeat or fend off any 1 or 2 Inquisitors because of there extensive offensive training so they're predictable and clumsy like darth vader easy stopped and wounded the third sister, Who was a padawan once regardless of his power all he did was defend and pretty much let her lose her own battle. She wasn't fully trained as a jedi nor an Inquisitor so clearly they're really ineffective l.
Every time a Jedi killed an inquisitor there was still one less Jedi since inquisitors were former Jedi (no chance of going back to the light side if dead).
The Inquisitors are able to handle the majority of the surviving Jedi because the biggest chunk of Order 66 survivors were like Kanan or Cal; Padawans who escaped due to the sacrifices of their masters. But against seasoned Jedi or Jedi Masters, they are outmatched; Ashoka handled two Inquisitors with little difficulty and if they'd gone up against Obi-Wan or Yoda they would have been curb-stomped. And, of course, they have no chance against Sith Lords, which makes me wonder why the fuck the Eighth Brother was stupid enough to try and find Darth Maul on his own.
If Palpatine himself had found time to assist in the training of the inquisitors. Then the Jedi aided rebellion would have had much greater stumbling blocks to overcome.
The problem was, that Sidious hardly trained his apprentices, whom he considered to be tools or pawns. The inquisitor were even less than that. Perhaps only The Grand Inquisitor was trained by Sidious, all others (sisters/brothers) were trained by Vader.
I mean Darth sidous claimed that he was the culmination of the entire sith even claiming himself as the sithari and to rule eternally as a literal god to wrap the universe to his will. Even if he had to betray the sith to gain more power for himself so be it. He is just another Darth ruin ironically
Vader’s instinct to keep hunting the Jedi was actually spot on. For example, had palpatine continued to put all of his effort into murdering the remaining Jedi Luke would have had no teachers and and Vader wouldn’t have been redeemed.
The Inquisitorious was a little more than sub-par. Basically hired mercenary group expendable at that; due to run its course like you mentioned. Plus it would be another thing to worry about if one decided to go on their own quest for power to overthrow. They were destined to be a temporary force. They could potentially be a problem for the Empire in the long run considering dark Jedi can easily be as treacherous and betray just as a Sith. I also believe that is why the inquisitors were not taught the dark arts of the Sith. They were meant to be kept somewhat weak yet affective in some circumstances.
I always saw them as basically what Jedi Knights would be right after they embraced the dark side. Probably no additional training in terms of the Force but Vader did train them in embracing pain.
@@childishisnotachild7277 Grand Inquisitor I believe to be an exception. He was a Temple Guardian which I would assume to be a high position that requires a high amount amount of training. Grand Inquisitor was a tough mofo.
I agree with Palpatine. He was THE Sith Lord and during the time of the empire(at least in canon) there were no worthy apprentices more capable than Darth Vader and Vader even as shell of his former self still remained far more worthy to be the Sith Lords apprentice. The emperor and his empire had far more important issues to deal with than lesser force wielders.
Not only that. Darth Vader was THE Dark User to go, as it was foretold in the prophecy, during his lifetime. The Jedi knew that. Palpatine knew that. It was like he was married to the 11 out of 10 girl, and he would never even have to waste his time looking for anything better.
That explanation of Sidious' motives makes it seem like he really resented the Rule of Two and the millennium of isolation. Same thing happened in the video game Jedi Fallen Order. Cal Cestis is a padawan, a promising young force sensitive who couldn't complete his training yet, but somehow defeated some inquisitors became an official Jedi Knight and at the end he defeated the third sister, Trilla. Probaby these actions attracted Vader. Right at that moment, Vader appeared and killed (executed) the inquisitor because of her defeat and came after Cal Cestis.
Jedi Fallen Order does a good job for me of showing their power (at least perceived) to normal citizens of the Empire and then having Vader completely squash it like a bug to show his power far out ranks them.

I think Palpatines harsh opinion of the inquisitors stems from the fact Vader trained them yet they were still unimpressive making Vader appear less skilled
Palpatine: Lord Vader. Vader: Yes, Master. Palpatine: Keep this to yourself, but I hate the Grand Inquisitor. Vader: Why, master? Palpatine: His head is too round and small. He looks nothing like he did in Rebels. Vader: Yes, my master. Shall I get pizza? Palpatine: Yes, pizza would be delightful. Vader: How many, master? Palpatine: Order 66.
Seven sister was among the best inquisitor. Tenth brother who was a master jedi died very easily in darth vader comic and sixth brother died to a clone wars ahsoka who didn't wield a lightsaber. In my opinion, The Grand Inquisitor was the Ventress of the Gaactic Empire. (Masaki as the primary fighting style, trained in the dark side and jedi past abandonment and both of the aspired to be a sith). Grand Inquisitor lost primary because the rebels had plot armor... (he repeatedly beat Kanan; he had major opportunities in which he could have ended the rebels)
@@JohnDoe-wb6vl Yes, he should have been kept for season 3 or 4. At least, if he was defeated by a season 4 Kanan it would have been more believable...
@@sosaskykiller3433 Maybe he will be the sub boss in the kenobi series. Imagine, the grand inquisitor loosing to kenobi in an epic duel and reporting to vader that kenobi is alive and only a sith can deal with him! :)
I think Grand Inquisitor is stronger but Shadow Guards are like inquisitors that graduated lol. Maul dealt with Inquisitors like they were some padawans and Maul was on the level of the Jedi Council, maybe right behind Windu. Shadow guards to me are so badass so i always put them at either Council level or right below, either way enough to hunt down remaining Jedi and protect the Emperor from the Rebels
You mean when you intentially hold back training the in the dark side of people that were once jedi, they won't preform well? no way..who could have seen that coming. Certainly not the man that didn't see his apprentice turn on him.
Well, it kind of makes sense. In Legends, the Inquisitors were a bigger presence (although mostly in books aimed at Young Adult readers, which is where I first read of them, even though I was wall past Young Adult myself ^_^). They seem to have been just a 'blip' in New Canon history, and the Emperor's opinion of them helps explain why: He simply put no resources towards keeping them equipped, trained, or replaced if necessary.
This explains much, such as to why the Inquisitors seemed to just vanish, becuz Sidious was so contemptuous of their incompetence and their disgrace, despite the flaws in their training under Vader (who, I would like to point out, was hardly qualified to teach them in the first place) So, rather than restore the ranks and train new Inquisitors, he just let them run their course until they were all gone. They had some successes, but ultimately they were deemed failures and embarrassments unworthy of serving their emperor Sidious should have realized, they were all fallen Jedi, so of course they were hopelessly flawed to begin with, and that was only exacerbated by their torturous training under Vader. But no, Sidious took cruel and petty pleasure in breaking these Jedi and reforging them into instruments of killing, seeing them break under torture and agony and then submit and become twisted with bitterness and cruelty. It would have been more effective to start from scratch and train force-sensitives who were not jedi or aligned with any other force-related faction; such individuals would have been perfect clay to mold into the ideal darkside servants Sidious desired, the perfect agents to carry out his will and spread terror and death to his enemies no matter what remote corners of the galaxy they might hide in, and they would surely have been more effective and far more dangerous than the likes of the Inquisitors
He did try finding new force sensitives. He sent Vader to capture Jocasta Nu and a holocron that contained all the known force sensitives. Jocasta told Vader this, then called him out as Anakin Skywalker (forcing Vader to kill all the clones he had with him) and then died at the hands of Vader. Vader then destroyed the Holocron so he couldn't be replaced so easily.
The majority of Inquisitors were essentially Jedi who were too weak to resist the Dark Side or just opted for self-preservation in the face of extermination (can't really blame them). And the Sith generally frowned upon fallen Jedi in their ranks, as they believed them to be weak, lacking true understanding of the Dark Side due to being tainted by the teachings of the Jedi. Palpatine was a true Sith, Vader on the other hand was just a very powerful fallen Jedi, who returned to the Light Side at the end.
Palpatine hated everyone equally for he thinks he is better than everyone else. Keep in mind that Palpatine wanted to be greater than just the force or anything or anyone to be consider to be a god.
I hope the trailer just used unfinished footage and they forgot to add the eyes in post production. I can't see any reason why they would forget such an important detail. Imagine if Cad Bane's reveal was just a dude with his face painted blue. I can live with the shape of the head but those eyes ruin the look.
Do you think Quinlan Vos would defeat The grand Inquisitor. I wonder If he is the jedi who will appear in kenobi , it would be cool to see them duel and potentially bring vader in the mix
He would eat Grand Inquisitor. Grand Inquisitor was killed by a padawan. Even if Kanan was skilled, still not on a warrior Jedi Master level like Quinlan Vos. I also don't see how Inquisitors can be main villains in Kenobi show, he's just too OP for them.
They were simply doomed from the start because none of them are Sith. Sith do not share power or knowledge. Something Sidious and Vader's power struggle / dynamic is completely dependent upon. If Vader knew all the things Sidious did, he would of chucked him along time ago and gone for his son. Same for the inquisitors if they even knew a quarter of what Palptaine knew they probably would of been a terrible reckoning and would of also tried to usurp their Sith overlords. Strong enough to do their task, weak enough to be rid of once it is complete.
I mean, Palpatine had so many fucking operations, going to undermine Vader while also help him while also, just for shits and giggles, undermine one of his opportunities to undermine him while also surprising that opportunity with a assassination attempt that undermines another one of his attempt because he likes fucking chaos and evil shit
I think Palpatine went cheap on using them...is his own doing, he could kept Maul as a sith assasin or even General Grievious or hire Cad Bane, but in storytelling you have to place some flaws on the villains in order for the heroes to exploit that.
The Inquisitors were a embarrassment not only to the Empire , but to the Dark Side itself . Emperor Palpatine should have allowed Lord Vader to slaughter them all and rid the galaxy of their incompetence.
How can they be "inconsistent with the philosophy of the Sith" when Inquisitors are not even Sith themselves? Using the darks side and having a red blade doesn't automatically mean you are a member of the sith order.
Vader might not have been the best teacher but palpating was to busy and plus he probably knew Vader was inexperienced and didn’t want the inquisitors to become a problem the the Sith
I gotta agree with this assessment, I mean I haven't watched rebels but take Jedi fallen order like you said the character you're playing is essentially a padwan who throughout the game you're re-learning a lot of skills you lost over time. Anyways the inquisitor that's chasing you should be up to snuff with their skills because they've been at this for a while, yet can't really beat you outright. *spoiler* Then fucking Darth Vader comes in at the end and is just a force to behold that you can't even put up a half decent fight against and your best chance to survive is to just run away. Like I get they're not supposed to be as powerful and as skilled as Vader but from what I can tell is it's like a padwan Jedi vs Master Yoda.
This kind of comes full circle to when he had cad band kidnap the children for him this probably would of been 1st generation inquisitors meaning earth Vader pretty much is the reason he had to resort to fallen Jedi…
The only inquisitors who were actually good were the tenth brother and the grand inquisitor both having very important roles in the Jedi order. Vader: Is that a Jedi?
Sheev: Yes
Vader: Imma kill it
Sheev: Don't you do it
Vader: Imma kill it
*ignites lightsaber*
Palpatine: Lord Vader.
Vader: Yes, Master.
Palpatine: Keep this to yourself, but I hate the Grand Inquisitor.
Vader: Why, master?
Palpatine: His head is too round and small. He looks nothing like he did in Rebels.
Vader: Yes, my master. Shall I get pizza?
Palpatine: Yes, pizza would be delightful.
Vader: How many, master?
Palpatine: Order 66.
Cody in the back:" It will be done, my lord."
Still pissed off all these years later at how they wasted his character
@@JohnDoe-wb6vl Yes, he should have been kept for season 3 or 4. At least, if he was defeated by a season 4 Kanan it would have been more believable...
I think he should have been the main villain of the series
@@sosaskykiller3433 Maybe he will be the sub boss in the kenobi series. Imagine, the grand inquisitor loosing to kenobi in an epic duel and reporting to vader that kenobi is alive and only a sith can deal with him! :)
Honestly, the greatest example of what an inquisitor could be was probably Jerec, as he nearly took over the empire.
Jerec though was formerly a Jedi Master himself I doubt Darth Vader did little if any training really with him.
Love the outro music, very fitting!
Who is stronger Inquisitor or Emperor’s Shadow Guard.
I mean, having Sith-like soldiers despite Sidious' Rule of Two does make sense why he'd be mad.
How did palpatine train vader? Did he have whistle like a coach? Id like to see how that looked
You mean when you intentially hold back training the in the dark side of people that were once jedi, they won't preform well? no way..who could have seen that coming. Certainly not the man that didn't see his apprentice turn on him.
I love seeing clips from the 2003 Clone Wars and the Force Unleashed. Good times
The inquisitiors greatest asset was that NO ONE would ever expect the Darkside Inquisition!!! 😂
This explains much, such as to why the Inquisitors seemed to just vanish, becuz Sidious was so contemptuous of their incompetence and their disgrace, despite the flaws in their training under Vader (who, I would like to point out, was hardly qualified to teach them in the first place)
So, rather than restore the ranks and train new Inquisitors, he just let them run their course until they were all gone. They had some successes, but ultimately they were deemed failures and embarrassments unworthy of serving their emperor
Sidious should have realized, they were all fallen Jedi, so of course they were hopelessly flawed to begin with, and that was only exacerbated by their torturous training under Vader.
Waddya mean he secretly hates the inquisitor? He obviously hates everybody.
It’s just how Palpatine was. He hated everyone. Darth Vader, Tarkin, Doris the tea lady. He was just a bit of a prick really.
Can relate to the Emperor getting tired of hearing about yet another Order 66 survivor.
Palpatine hated everyone equally for he thinks he is better than everyone else. Keep in mind that Palpatine wanted to be greater than just the force or anything or anyone to be consider to be a god.
Sith life goals, he wanted dominion over all that was living
@@Hysube so palpatine is sauron
@@santi_super_stunts2573 in some aspect the same beast with a different face indeed, he wanted to be a physical manifestation of "god"
His hatred was not as intense as vitiate. Palpatine wanted to control everything. Vitiate wanted to destroy everything.
Don't forget Sidious had Lords like Vitiate and Exar Kun to look up to. He had standard to hold.
Whatever happened to the Grand Inquisitor’s Sith eyes in live-action?
I hope the trailer just used unfinished footage and they forgot to add the eyes in post production. I can't see any reason why they would forget such an important detail. Imagine if Cad Bane's reveal was just a dude with his face painted blue. I can live with the shape of the head but those eyes ruin the look.
He forgot to put in his yellow contacts
@@shaydowsith348 apparently lol
Do you think Quinlan Vos would defeat The grand Inquisitor. I wonder If he is the jedi who will appear in kenobi , it would be cool to see them duel and potentially bring vader in the mix
He would eat Grand Inquisitor.
Grand Inquisitor was killed by a padawan. Even if Kanan was skilled, still not on a warrior Jedi Master level like Quinlan Vos.
I also don't see how Inquisitors can be main villains in Kenobi show, he's just too OP for them.
Secretly- was Palpatine famously all about hatred...?
Palpatine hated everyone. He was famous for it! Next please.
It’s because he stole Daddy Palp’s last Pizza slice.
Because he looks like Pennywise the Clown with a haircut?
I think Palpatine went cheap on using them...is his own doing, he could kept Maul as a sith assasin or even General Grievious or hire Cad Bane, but in storytelling you have to place some flaws on the villains in order for the heroes to exploit that.
he couldnt keep grievous, he served his purpose, the most feared and hated face of the cis
@@nameynamename3758 imagine if Krell survived how great of an assassin he would have been for Sidious lmao.
You get what you pay for. Should have offered Inquisitors better hourly rate and WFH.
I’ll be honest - after multiple views as a long time avid Star Wars fan, the Grand Inquisitor design has grown on me.
i kinda feel like he just hates everyone, and it's not really all that secret.
Silly goose. Palpatine was a dark lord of the sith he does not need a reason to hate anyone. He just hates by default.
The Inquisitors were a embarrassment not only to the Empire , but to the Dark Side itself .
Emperor Palpatine should have allowed Lord Vader to slaughter them all and rid the galaxy of their incompetence.
I don't know why but I would like to see a story where a Jedi makes some kind of deal with the force.
Palpatine hates everything.
Never watched latest clone wars. Looks and sounds really good.
I'm convinced palpatine only really loved Mara Jade and Tarkin
I think they’re opening up some really good lore. I’d love to see one have a redemption arc
there was an inquistor in star wars unleashed who basically soloed like four jedi at once
where does this info come from?
If your grand inquisitor lost to a noob like kanan you'd secretly hate him too.
Emperor Palpatine hated everybody.
What about Inquisitor jerec from Legends
Palpatine didn’t like the size of the Grand Inquisitors forehead
Was the grand inquisitor invented for the cartoons? I don’t remember them in novels.
Frankly I always felt like the Inquisitors were inconsistent with the philosophy of the Sith.
No because of their lack of Sith training
How can they be "inconsistent with the philosophy of the Sith" when Inquisitors are not even Sith themselves? Using the darks side and having a red blade doesn't automatically mean you are a member of the sith order.
Vader might not have been the best teacher but palpating was to busy and plus he probably knew Vader was inexperienced and didn’t want the inquisitors to become a problem the the Sith
I never even knew that he really didn't like the grand inquisitior
Now call me a grand inquisitor fan but he definitely could have taken down some of the council members considering he killed all of the temple guards and beat that librarian chick
He hated all of them. Sending them out agaisnt jedi was just so they would die.
"Hate"? No, I never hated anyone, I thought he was wonderful!
Dude, Palps hated everyone 😂
I hate Grand Inquisitor too. Palpatine 4ever!
Before the great emperor it was always chaos and war. Finally some strong fist to establish order and peace.
@@joaovcruz12 You spit facts bro.
@@joaovcruz12 I know this is a joke but, you know, he manipulated the war and started it, right?
Its a shame Palpatine never properly trained Vader. He took up much more time with Mara Jade in her training.
Imagine if Maul had become an inquisitor just to have a chance to kill sidious
The second sister and ninth sister were also pretty badass
Awesome
They were conflicted. They didn't choose the darkness. The jedi spirit within them battled the "unnatural" darkside.
I love people who complain about how his proportions aren’t the same as the cartoon…. It’s a uh, a cartoon, the real thing will never look the exact same.
we all agree that the Inquisitors are not Sith but Black Jedi who joined Emperor Palpatine for various reasons.
Not even a black Jedi, more like dark side wielding storm troopers
@@CarbonKrazie
yes we can say it like that.
Because Palpatine is the lord of the sith, it's literally his job to hate everyone. Lol
I wonder how they will fair in the new Kenobi show.
