This video brought back so many memories! My grandmother had this same machine in white, and I spent hours as a youngster watching it operate. My favorite was to watch the mini-basket loads. Thanks for uploading!
My dad use to own a laundromat yrs ago & it had the filter Flo machines ! Simple to repair & keep on washing ! They the best cleaning & lint removal .the sound is music to My ears & reminds Me of My dads laundromat . From yrs ago . They don’t build like that anymore .
Wow I can't believe that 54 years later and this machine is still running strong!!! That's why I always liked the GE filter flo washers they were built like Sherman Tanks and performed very well... they were one of the greatest workhorses of its time back then!!! Thanks for the video Gso and have a good night!!!
A friend of mine moved around the corner from me and inside their place is an older GE Filter flo from I'm guessing the 80s. Still running. Funny because the Extras Large tub in it looks small now. I remember these machines when they were still being made. Have a new appreciation for GE washers as I had forgotten how well built it is especially to the tin foil made machines today that are so prevalent.
@@maryrobert80 True. Even if the DD washers were still being made like my Kenmore 90 series from 2003 I wouldn't have gotten a Speed Queen either. I liked the Speed Queen when I had it but the Kenmores had so many more options and overall were much more versatile washers.
@@patcola7335 Yes they were Pat... I had a 90 series too, and I always use to say this machine is a real workhorse!!! It handled some pretty heavy loads at times and never gave me a minute's worth of trouble except for an occasional off balance load once in a while!!!
@@maryrobert80 That was a little bit of a drawback as the suspensions were kind of weak in the DD machines. What the Speed Queen had going for it was the excellent suspension system. The only other machines I can remember that were as good with balanced spins was an early-mid 70s Westinghouse top loader (before they were gobbled by WCI) and the 70s Norge we had . The Norge would slow down and compensate for the unbalanced loads.
Classic GE Filter-Flow washing machine, love the colour as well, we never had an array of colourful options here in Britain !! Great video, Thanks for showing us..
a friend says, modern machines are dirt redepositing systems. they remove dirt then they put it back on clothes. I think the filter flo design where debris is actually filtered out, should be a must on washing machines. why in the world they discontinued the design where dirt is being filtered out of the wash? When will they start making those again. I have bought an old I am planning to fix it and put it to use. I hope the parts are still available ?
What a great vintage General Electric Washing Machine... It's so clean and in excellent condition... Love the control panel... Does a good job washing too.. Love the vintage washers when the control panels lit up with fluorescent lights coming from behind... Great video..

I'm not sure the exact years. Frigidaire had a 1-18 set with a light on it until the late 70s. Maytag had the A806 (backlit panel) until the late 70s too.
@@Gsohoover the Sears lady kenmore machine s always had a panel light plus inner tub light until the 1980 models were made . But they still had the transmission and belts
@@Gsohoover True. CU made a comment on how the first GE automatic was superior in some ways the 2nd iteration of washers they came out with after. Probably just too expensive to produce.
Finally! A full cycle! Can this washer do cold rinse? What are the cycles and temp/speed combos? I'd like to see a small load.'i'd also like to see the motor and transmission in action. Thanks.
NEW GE top-loaders are a shame compared to this! If you happen to own one (I do) go ahead, watch it agitate. No deep cleaning at all! Yours pulls those towels down and back around every 15 seconds. Whereas new ones, can't do that once in 30 minutes!

perfect too beautiful there are no more machines like this especially here in Brazil just crap thanks brother for the video
This was the best washer I had ever owned, loved the filter flow and, easy to clean, a workhorse and the clothes came out so clean...
My dad worked for GE and I grew up with these machines they are workhorses. They need to bring them back
You got that right amen
An Absolutely Beautiful Machine!! Nothing like an old school filter flo!!

Great looking washing machine, great agatator motions.
This washing machine is AWESOME!!!! OMG! I want one ♥️
GE washers from this era were the greatest. Wish they could remake these.. The actually did laundry

Just discovered your channel, love these US washers, love the commentary, you don't pretend to know it all like the others. Subscribed!
Really managed to turn all those towels over. Really runs smooth, love the sound of the motor, clutch and transmission.
I agree! GE needs to bring these filter-flos back!
Tyler thanks for the great video - these filter flows were great performers!
As they always say...there's a great big beautiful tomorrow.
What a pretty cabinet color.
The first new washing machine my mom had was a GE in avocado green it lasted 20 years of faithful service.

like me this machine is 59 and still going strong. that is so awesome .
The sound of the humming is music to my ears!
Great Waher owned one for years and never a problem.
That famous pop pop of the tub brake. 😍.
Startles me sometimes 😂
Pozdrawiam Serdecznie Z POLSKI 🇵🇱🍺🍺
Excellent! I've always enjoyed seeing powdered detergent dissolve on the Filter Flo pan. I love that Filter Flo font on this one!
Besides a Frigidaire, old up and down agitator, this spiral agitator does great
We have 2 golden retrievers and I bet this washer would catch all the dog hair!!!
This washer is awesome and really great design. Ultimately way better than today's HE washer.
My mom had this model in 1982 to wash baby diapers in just after my brother was born
My mom had a ge filter flo washer she washed baby diapers in it
This model was used for 13 years by my mom
Great agitation! Those were the days!
Such a sturdy machine

Trust me there's nothing annoying about that washing machine that's the way they were made and that's the way they sounded and they were perfect
This sound was quite common at laundromats in the mid 70s.
remind me to get a 60s washing machine so i can not have to buy another one for 50 years
They take some work to get going and keep them going but are fun, regardless
The first GE automatic washers were the only automatics other than Frigidaire that spun at 1140. Don't know why they didn't keep that speed.
Cost I'm sure

Yes it can do a cold rinse. The lid displays the wash/rinse and speeds for the cycles.

I think in the mid 600s. Can't remember off the top of my head.
