50 69 year old machines still work better than brand new products today. Because they were built for long term use. Rather than the "keep spending money on new stuff that breaks after 6 months because companies gotta make money"
@Ninja Of Truth My dam 2015 whirlpool can't wash all my bedding at once. it sounds like I'm washing bricks when it trys to spin dry them unless I pull out my comforter.
Oh my goodness, me too. However, the filter tray is missing. Wish I could find you one I'd send it to you. That's ok. I'll take it. This the perfect example of a manufacturer fixing a design that was never broke. The "Egg Heads" in the engineering department had to come up with something new to justify their reason for receiving a paycheck. The boys in the GE tech department once again trick the GE front office. Thank you for this video.
Omg. I knew this washer was familiar when I seen the water spout at top…but when you sai filter tray it finally clicked,my mom had one of these and I remember the tray👍
My dad had laundromat yrs ago . It had the GE filter flo washers & had a few speed queens & few Westinghouse these where top loaders & of corse a few front loaders as well for the big loads ect .
College Debt Slavery-on kindle They want us become a slave of the money if we are still shopping those garbage modern HE washers with ton of useless features.
And with the million buttons and star trek control panel these new machines have and over the cost of 1000 bucks... they can't clean the clothes either!!!!
Found an older Whirlpool washer that sat outside 25 years and looked like it had flooded in high water more than that. Also had a big animal nest inside it. Got it for free . Hooked it up to garden hose and plugged it in in the driveway after blowing all the crap out, and there was nothing wrong with it. 100% functional. The grease, the bearings, the motor, all were working as they should. Just needed a lot of bondo and bodywork on the panels. The Maytag Epic Z I have in my house that I bought in 2013, made in 2007, the rubber seal gasket went bad and I had to replace that. No appliance company would do it because they said it was a waste of time. I don't have $2,300 for a new washer similar to that one. Replaced the seal myself for $60, took 2 hours. The button plastic on the control panel is now rotting off from frequent use, so you have to stick your fingers or a pencil in the hole to push the buttons
My mom had a 1980 Brastemp that was pretty much the same as this GE. If I'm not mistaken, those machines used a big gasket that prevent water to spill on the insides, and this one is missing of course
It’s actually that beige strip between the porcelain top and the slotted clothes guard thing. You’re right; this this spin drains and it’s so the clothes don’t fly out. Brastemp machines were sold as Whirlpool over here.

@@albertcarello7328Other than RUclips videos I have only seen 2 GE washers in the last 40 years that had straight vane agitators. I prefer these to the ramps. I was scared of the dark and terrified if a washer became off ballance... my imagination would always mess with me and i would be scared and think what if....
The washer went off ballance...
It would go... kathunk kathunk kathunk KATHUNK KATHUNK KATHUNK!!!!!
Then it would walk across the room rip out the water hoses as it did spray hot water everywhere splash me with wash water through the drain hose then perhaps rip the electric cord out of its body and the live electric cord might then fall in the water on the floor which i would be standing in and electrocute me.....
.........
............
I always kept the lights on...
If i could see, i was fine..
Me to. I used to dream in my mind a floating machine filled with soft pillows and blankets as it gently landed on rushing rivers, going through and down waterfalls and never tipping over but remaining steady and firm with this lovely sound. The sound of the water filling up was its engine getting started.

Yup, too short!

Please make it longer.
ruclips.net/video/pGZZbl-4cIQ/видео.html no why?
50 69 year old machines still work better than brand new products today.
Because they were built for long term use. Rather than the "keep spending money on new stuff that breaks after 6 months because companies gotta make money"
Lovely sounds with the added charm of using an old machine. Perfect !!
Awesome washer. Love the sounds. New subscriber 💃🌹
Who remembers just sitting there with your fluffy pjs and watching it go round and round haha
I still do often.
One of the first things I used to do after horse-backing 🐎
Go to the laundromat for that reason
Great sound, nice to fall asleep faster, thanks for sharing!
I do too I couldn’t sleep without white noise 👍
I can sleep only wit this sound, its crazy.
Yes! I sleep alone with this and also this: ruclips.net/video/SLroZgA7giY/видео.html
40 years old still works dam.
@Ninja Of Truth My dam 2015 whirlpool can't wash all my bedding at once. it sounds like I'm washing bricks when it trys to spin dry them unless I pull out my comforter.
@Ninja Of Truth I need a front loader is all, but the place im renting came with a top loader.
I love This sound💙😀

Yes
As much fun as it is to have front load washer and dryer, the sounds of top load units are not replaceable.
Eh...I personally prefer front doored one. They not only wash better and faster, but their sounds are... Irreplaceable.
Makes me sleepy
Going to bed
So tired thanks
I love how many people watched this.
My dad had a washer similar to this. It was Hotpoint but I think it was from the 80's.
And these modern machines with a million buttons and unnecessary loan sensors.....they can't even last 3 years lol and this one is over 40 years.
Less electronic less problems 😁
I have a whirlpool washer and dryer since 90 and still have them working like a charm sounds put me down every time

Now, all we need is a dryer guest starring.
Dryer is holding out for a better contract.😊
What a beast...
love that motor growl, maytags did not have the same sound as the good ole filter flow'
I take one of those machines over today’s brand’s washer work well
this video is the only thing standing between me and anxiety..
My GE has a lint filter and a fabric softener dispenser.
That first spin sounds like a 70s Jet Engine revving up.
Scared the crap out of me as a kid.
The ramp agitator is cool but it's nice to see the straight vanes in GE machines like this one. Most videos are of the ramp style. Overall I prefer the straight vanes to the ramps.
Pat Cola: The straight vanes clean so much better too.
@@albertcarello7328Other than RUclips videos I have only seen 2 GE washers in the last 40 years that had straight vane agitators. I prefer these to the ramps. The ramps are cool but I just prefer the straight vanes more.
Just like I prefer the old bakelite straight vain agitator to the roto swirl in Kenmore washers.
@@patcola7335 my moms Lady Kenmore had the Roto swirl agitation
Good washing action
Nothing like the GE straight van agitator
Great washing action in the filter flo
My neighbor my friends mom had this machine back in the day
Wish they still made washing machines that washed clothes.
Can you do a 10 hour version to this? It puts me to sleep at night

Tony Nutt...your comments make me wonder why you are even viewing this video. There are millions of videos to view and you spend your time dissing on those who have AMSR. You might want to spend some time viewing something positive.
It's a work of mechanical art.
What a coincidence it is to come across this post.
I had been thinking recently about how technical design can (should ?) be included among the arts. It requires creativity, problem-solving, innovation and is often elegant in form.
Wow it actually puts enough water in it....
this makes me happy
Cool wish video was longer
There's hardly any laundromats now that use GE washers. It's either Maytag or Speed Queen.
02chevyguy Having had family that bought recent GE laundry equipment, I believe that would be due to the unimpressive commercial offering GE currently provides. If they included heaters, I would have a Speed Queen front load washer in my home.
Or wascomats
GE was bought out many years ago by foreigners. They don't make anything good anymore.
Awesome video but too short!
what just happened I clicked on the video the next thing I know half an hour has passed by and I just watched clothes get washed I can't be the only one that clicked it and lost almost 40 min good job sucking me in
Isn't there supposed to be a round filter that fits on top of the agitator? The water is supposed to be going into it to filter the water.
Yep
It's designed for one and a mini basket
It’s also great to read the Bible or the book of psalms very calming
I used to sit on this particular "77" model washer and read scripture too! Now I"m to big to sit on one (59 yrs.) I'd probably bend the lid...
