Thank you for being so open and honest about your experience. This is a very nerve wrecking time and process. I have worked in industry and with charities and various things. It is still a scary thought that someone will look at you and say you're not good enough or judge you on past mistakes. You have made me more relaxed and hopeful that it is possible. I shouldn't sideline my aspirations. Thank you very much.
Thank you for the video. Really specific and clear. Im applying for phd programs now. Hopefully, I will get an offer next spring. Wish you all the best!!
Three years after undergrad? Wow, girl, you were so determined, it is beyond inspiring. Honestly, I was giving up on applying abroad with my 3.3 gpa and no research experience and didn’t even think of waiting another year. Even one year-gap seemed crazy for me. I guess I’m gonna think now whether I should wait another year or just apply to a local university where I can get into more or less easily this year.
My scores are quite average (about 3.1 Gpa), but I have ok GRE and toefl scores ( GRE 169 Q, 163 V), Toefl (108-30 R, 30 L, 27 W, 21 S). I also have 1 year of experience in relevant feild. I have also applied for Grad. School this year. I am getting really nervous now. Your videos have helped me a lot in Calming my anxiety.
When you talked about being afraid of talking to your school professors, it really touched me, I'm in a similar situation, I'm a senior undergraduate with a bad GPA and no relations with my school professors, sometimes I'm even scared to raise my hand in class to ask questions, and my mind would say, oh now they gonna ask you what is your GPA in front of the whole class and you will look very stupid. but actually, after hearing you I'm more encouraged to go talk to them and to also take research more seriously, now I see it could compensate for my grade a little. Thank you so much for sharing, I really like your videos and wish you all the luck with your visa 🥰
Aww thank you so much for your kind comment, truly appreciate it 🥰 Yess, profs do seem intimidating haha, but don't be scared! They probably came across so many struggling students so we are not the only ones (I hope I live by my words once I start grad school, easier said than done for sure). Best wishes to you and keep me posted if ever decide to take the grad school route!!
@@findingmoments That's so sweet thank you. 🥰 I agree with you about professors, I hope this year will be better than the others.😆 I'm thinking of doing a year after graduation in research and then applying for grade school the next cycle so fingers crossed.. let's hope the plan goes well, I will tell you if I got a good offer. I think you will do great in grade school you are very hardworking, wish you all the luck, and waiting to see more of your content 🥰🥰🥰
thanks so much for the link of this video.....it literally helps me not less than 90%.....and remaining 10% is on me obviously........now i understand the way it's gonna lead me.....thanks again for the guidance......
Thank you for your sharring, I am an Indonesian student who currently wanna apply to grad school in the US such as Stanford or Cornell. I am a geophysical engineering student of Bandung Institute of Technology. I have bad GPA around 3.45-3.55, but I have a lot of award and achievements outside classroom (estimation 15 national n international awards, mostly from competition) and some cool research project with my lectures about the lastest topic in geophysics. Also, I have 4 publications international and national. But, I have done my research about how to get into Cornell and they selective candidate with average GPA 3.8. Do you think I still have a chance to go to Stanford and Cornell?
Hey, Thank you for the video. I have a GPA of 2.9. Do you think Universities like UT Austin or CMU will even consider my application? :/ This is making me anxious
I am in the process of applying to grad schools. Similar situation as you but just that I don't have any research publication. Having said this, I currently work as a part of an economic research team as a data analyst and have worked on multiple deep dive analyses and also recently was recognized with an organizational award for my performance. This video was very encouraging, thanks for taking the time and sharing positivity : )
Thank you very much for doing this video; I'm an International Student and I want to pursue a Ph.D. in the US, but I was really nervous about the whole process -- I did research as an undergrad but overall, I wasn't sure if that was enough to make my application stand among others. I will follow your advice, I'm thinking of waiting a year (I just graduated last December) to order my ideas, search for Universities, gain some experience, and be clear about the goals that I want to reach while doing research. I'll stay positive about the future, hoping that everything goes well. Thank you again, this was very helpful, really!
Hi, Thanks for sharing the tips! I just wanted to know if a GRE score of 300-305 should be submitted ( where GRE is optional) if you have an average GPA between 3-3.5.
Don't. If your GPA is not that good you want to submit a higher GRE score. Depending on your program and how your GRE quant and verbal split it sounds like you are around 50th percentile. I guess it also depends on the program.
Hey!! I am in the process of applying to grad schools and I have doubts about the GRE. Even if its optional, what is the impact of that test from a person who has 3.4 GPA? I'm really worried about the time....as a international student who's studying for toefl, finishing the bachelor and working 😢
Hii, sorry for the late reply! In terms of GRE, I would say still take it (if possible) even though it’s optional and try your best to get a good score. I think you will have a good chance to get in with a good GRE score and a 3.4 GPA!
What program did you choose for your masters? I believe I recall you saying tour going to Carnegie Mellon? I know a friend of a friend that attends that institution.
Hi, I hope you still answering comments in this video, I wanna ask about how did you do your research outside of academia. From your explanation, I assume you did your research after you graduated (when you work and did some project beside job)? Or you published research during your study? If the first one is the case, could you tell me how you managed to contact the researcher and publish papers together?
Heyy, sorry for the late reply! I actually did research both during my undergrad and post-undergrad. I'm planning on making a video about my research experience soon, hope that will help!
@@findingmoments Heyy! May I know where you worked in the three years before applying to your grad, and whether it was completed at the same company all the way? Thanks so much for this video btw!
thanks for calling 3.4 great i needed that

Thank you so much for this ❤ I agree with you completely. You give me hope while I am studying very hard for the GRE and trying to improve my GPA.

same, what are the results?
I think CMU's cutoff is 3.0

Sounds like an awesome plan :) Good luck!
hey, are you applying directly for a PhD after undergrad?
Hi, Thanks for sharing the tips! I just wanted to know if a GRE score of 300-305 should be submitted ( where GRE is optional) if you have an average GPA between 3-3.5.
Don't. If your GPA is not that good you want to submit a higher GRE score. Depending on your program and how your GRE quant and verbal split it sounds like you are around 50th percentile. I guess it also depends on the program.
I am also applying for PhD in Physics. But I have 3.3 GPA. I have no publications, but I did Master's project and an internship. Is this good enough.
😓 I don't have funds to futher my education and most of the scholarships I try to apply to require a gpa that's higher than what I have 😭

Hi! Did you do your 2 year research as a student? Can you please make a video on how you found this research position. Best!
i agree, can you explain more about this.
At which university are you pursuing your graduate studies?

Hello! Can you share with us your personal statement so we get inspiration?
Thank you so much for your insight!!

How do u gain experience after grad school?
Good luck, off course.
Which one would you recommend, GRE or GMAT??
I actually didn't know GMAT is an option 😅so not really sure on this one ..
What is her graduate program
Heyy!! Your videos are great, so keep going :)
Btw what major did you pursue in? 😊
( im a stem student too!)
Thank you so much :))) I majored in math.
was work ex necessary for the master's program?
did you have any woke ex prior to applying to grad school?
yes if you have bad grades! I have 3 years of work experience before applying.
@@findingmoments Heyy! May I know where you worked in the three years before applying to your grad, and whether it was completed at the same company all the way? Thanks so much for this video btw!
key recommendation: unless you get into a graduate school on a full-ride scholarship with stipend then you are simply doing a hobby
you are so beautiful
thank you! :)))
