Social media and other campaigns would have us believe that phones are the only cause of distracted driving. That's not true. There are so many distractions that take our attention away from the driving task. However, it's not a matter of if we're distracted, but when we're distracted. There are times in our driving environment when when can divert our attention away from driving and to the radio. There are other times that our full attention has to be on driving. I got my license 20 years ago, yet I find Rick's youtube videos and the course to be very helpful in maintaining my skills, attention and prevention of accidents. Drivers who use defensive driving rules don't get into accidents - those who think they are very experienced and remember everything at all times do. Very grateful to Rick for the channel that makes me a better driver every day and keeps me comfortable on the road .

16:08 “turn on you lane assist” I found lane assist to actually be more distracting in England. The lanes are so narrow on B roads that it was constantly bugging you to move over into the gutter. 😀. Other than tan that, in North America lane assist has saved my bacon many a time.
That's a great comment. I wouldn't think of trying lane assist on a narrow road. Good to hear it's not very helpful. But it works on the bigger roads. Thanks for the information. All the best, Cheers Rick

Hello Rick , I have 2 questions.
Question #1: When Turning, Specifically on stand still turns. Do I press the gas before turning the steering wheel?? Or do I turn the steering before pressing the gas?? Or do I just turn the steering wheel and the gas simultaneously??
Question #2: I know I always need to check my rear view mirror & side mirror & blind spots before changing lanes and turning. But is there times where I only need to Check JUST my side mirror and blind spot?? Like if I’m pulling into a left turn only lane at an intersection for example?? Do all turns necessarily need rearview check ?? to where some just need checking side mirror then the blind spot and Turing.
