    26:39 this is precisely why I park in reverse despite how annoying it is to get groceries into the trunk. It’s safer to leave the parking space especially with the small kids zipping away from their parents as cars are backing out.

      In Puerto
      Rico you are more likely to see cars revere parked not sure why probably a cultural thing? I was taught to park reverse always

      @@gardenstatePR so I live in Ontario (and I think other provinces have similar testing standards). Here are my thoughts. The G2 road test covers parallel parking, emergency stops, and hill parking, but I’ve never heard anyone be asked to reverse park if they started the test reverse parked. The problem is that there’s no proof the new driver didn’t have someone else reverse park the car for them before the test. The examiner has to assume the new driver parked it themselves before the test without any proof.
      Side story: at my g2 test while I was waiting for the examiner, I watched the car next to me be reverse parked by a young woman. Then an elderly woman with hand tremors got in to the driver’s seat to wait for the examiner.
      The other problem is that you can fail every single parking maneuver and still pass if you did reasonably well on the driving part. The reasoning is that you can just improve your parking on your own as you’re forced to use it in real life. The problem is that some people don’t care to improve. They will just avoid reverse parking and parallel parking if they can help it.
      They used to retest all these things for the G test, but after the backlog for cov*d, they removed all the elements were already tested during g2, which would have showed how much you improved in a year of independent driving. The altered G test is still in effect.

      It's even better if you can find the golden parking spot: the one where you can drive in and drive out. Those are by far the best and usually found a little farther away from the doors. All the best, Cheers Rick

    Hey Rick! Ive been watching the channel for a while now and I have my full license in Ontario. I wanted to ask you how you know you’ve backed up far enough in a car without a camera? Say theres no car behind you and theres only the lines or a curb. I have a reference spot that I use when I can see the line/curb behind me, but often times I may not be able to see it, and Ill stick my head out the window. Is there an easier way to do this?

      Are you parallel parking or are you backing into a parking spot? For parallel parking see: ruclips.net/video/U0uAFVeDUjs/видео.html For backing into a parking spot see: ruclips.net/video/ADTF-AESA3k/видео.html Drop us a note if we can help further. All the best, Cheers Rick

    Hi Rick I had a question. I had a car accident. And I was at fault.i was turning on a green with no arrow. Just a green light .I know I had the right away on green when clear. But when I turned on green a car was coming and hit me from the side. My car was flipped to the side

      u have to wait till oncoming traffic passes if there is no arrow

    • @OfficiallyFreehugs
      @OfficiallyFreehugs 2 месяца назад

      If that's the case, then you must wait for oncoming traffic to pass by and you should only proceed with the turn once it is clear and safe to do so. However, if you did have a safe and clear chance to make the turn and did so and an oncoming vehicle from far away failed to avoid a collision then they would be at fault, especially if they had enough time to hit the brakes. Also, always consult with a lawyer and remain silent when law enforcement questions you regardless if you were in the wrong or right.
