Its been about 2 months since Naxx 25/10 dropped in Wrath Classic - did dps ranking live up to expectations and which classes are going into phase 2 looking good?

I think a good way to buff specs is through tier set. Take Ret for example:
Their damage is hillariously low, because much of their power is put into the T10 two piece bonus.
Right now we play on a patch where Crusader strike dmg is nerfed by 25%, Seal of Command deals way less damage, Judgement damage was nerfed etc. etc. but we do not have access to the set boni meant to balance out these nerfs.
The solution would be: Buffing 4 piece sets from Ulduar and ToC. That way they stay isolated from the 2 Set boni of T10, bring the powerlevel of rets back to what it was back then (which still was not that high, but definatly higher) and also make the long drought till ICC acceptable.
And since these boni get replaced later on inevitably, if only due to increased stats, aswell as their lack of PvP stats, they do not affect the ballance of other content.

Mmmm that's not a bad way to compensate, I had forgotten that Pally's got nerfed based on their current Tier performance and not how they performed throughout the Xpac.

I mean this is definitely not only pala suffering from the same thing, a few classes had some vast changes to talents, damage modifiers etc throughout wotlk, they really tried to balance it as they went which at the time was interesting and mixed up metas and meant they were involved and trying. But this idea of just pick the latest patch and off we go doesn't seem it would be best now, I'd rather play the phases as they were back then to experience the class progression too, I think bringing later tier forward is not a solution though but they could roll back the other nerfs that the gear triggered since the nerfs clearly aren't needed in naxx 😄
you'd have to buff warrior's with that same logic too since they were nerfed over and over again throughout the original Wrath, so it's a rabbit hole that I don't think Blizz wants to go down
The problem with ret is that the class is tuned around ICC, and it's 2 set piece bonus from T10. Ret changed a lot over time from Naxx till ICC and that we get the ICC version without the gear bonus is why it is doing so poorly now.
Ret only saw nerfs til totc but had set pieces to round out its power reduction. I see this go around a lot, ret isn't balanced around ICC, it got nerfed and then given good set bonuses.
Imagine be a «good» spec because of set bonus

@@kevinb.2595 it depends on how tiny abom works in this version. There is some weird flags on some abilities that indicate it won’t proc from that it did in the original version. If it’s original they will be a tier considering their utility. Won’t be tipping meters but will be slightly behind the top pack. If it’s a changed version that will be mid pack solidly.

@@TheGamingInvestor Same deal with Afflic locks and corruption, refreshing it causes only % crit and % dmg to carry over. At least locks have a glyph that lets corruption scale with haste but it's their only dot that scales with haste as opposed to priests having VT and DP scale with haste.
I've said it a hundred times. Either make SW:P scale with haste or lean into the utlity thing and make VE smart healing.
Not having Fire elemental reset is a bit of a bummer. You just have to accept that you can't be at 100% on every boss fight, unlike... literally every other class ! lol.
well all DKs feel the same with army of the dead. it is a bummer.

@@Drtydeeds I dont have link, but you can no longer use polearm mainhand, Unbridled Wrath no longer gives rage on yellow hits, and armor pot has a 2 min cd.

@@NotTeerno eh. The polearm thing was a bug as Titan's Grip wasn't supposed to work with Polearms in Wrath. Polearms also often don't have strength, either, since Fury Warriors scale too well with Strength. And I'm pretty sure in full Ulduar gear, Unbridled Wrath will be unnecessary.
Imo the current proposed "bis" Feral gear for Ulduar is 2p t8 and off items. The total is around 60% crit and 50% arp while fully buffed. If Feral does not rocket near the top in Ulduar ? Im 99% sure it never will. Especially with how good the 2p is.
There's reason to play Destruction! It is easier to play than the other two specs, and it's really fun!
give it +10% crit and +10% haste and it will beat out the other 2. Conflagrate crits are just not consistent enough for Pyroclasm to have 100% uptime. yet...
@@CarKiller92 I kinda doubt that. Corruption with all the buffs and drain soul are strong af. It could probably beat demo with poor procs but that ain't much.
@@lief3414 we will see. Crit based specs usually beat out haste specs at the end of expansions.
My only gripe is that you pushed Demo warlock down to low A. I strongly disagree. I find in most fights that last over 2 minutes right now that I start to walk away from the dps that don't have execute damage. Longer fights show the warriors starting to catch up and leave the bottom spots, and Affliction warlocks streaking out to the front with Demo locks close behind.

Arms warrior for life. Sure, this is a shit tier, but what do you mean "rage starved"? Got plenty of rage, but our hits are similar to wet noodles.
As a more casual DK I still strongly prefer Frost to Unholy. Its way more consistent for just jumping in with whatever group - I am always the top DPS, or near top, in any Pug raid. Running Unholy is great if you're in a guild with other pumpers so the boss times are low, but it really loses its edge in an average group. After using unholy a bit I just also don't like how it plays. Snapshotting my dudes was fun at first but felt like a gimmick pretty quick. The unholy setup can feel like a ball and chain where with Frost I just have to worry about my rotation, which is a pretty fun one, and I'm not bothered if fights are dragging on a little long cause I joined an alt pug, I can still top those charts.
Just my two cents playing DK Dps as a semi-casual (hit most raid lockouts, but pugged half, don't care about parses much). If you're a more casual raider, I think Frost is the way to go cause it performs more consistently with more casual groups
Im surprised Feral isn't as good as expected. In my memory from back then feral was the dark horse in t7 and was able to top the meters. Maybe something has changed tuning wise during the patches. But hey, at least Affli was able to suprise you :P
Feral wasn’t ever a thing in retail WotLK, it’s purely a private server thing until late in WotLK when itemization enables them …same as Fury Warrior.

I played with a feral at 4400 GS doing a 3 drake sarth run about a month ago - he managed 8k dps without hero even being popped lol

I suspect the reason why Shadow Priests aren’t doing as well as expected is two fold.
1. Other classes are doing better than expected, in particular Unholy DK but boomkins and Warlocks are also performing better than expected which widens the gap between mid range dps and top performing classes.
2. Sprites get no benefit to their damage from T7. Mana is only an issue when you raid is in blues and SW:D isn’t part of their rotation unless there is movement mechanic.
Tier 8 by comparison grants them 240 haste after a mind blast and 15% more damage to one of their stronger dots.
If the set bonuses were swapped around I’d say they’d be firmly in A tier.
You use SW:D still for timing dot refreshes. IE you have 1 second left on your devouring plague at the end of a mf. But yeah, our set bonuses are doodoo. And we didn't have wowsims back in the day. No haste scaling on SW:P is rough too.

But yeah SW:P not scaling with haste deff hurts a lot. Its our weakest dot now and by a wide margin. lol

But yeah we should get a healthy boost next phase, I swear fire mages come into play in Ulduar though so while we may narrow the gap with some classes I feel there is more overall competition near the top for casters.
But I’m going off memory so maybe I’m miss remembering.
unholy dk and warlocks are not performing better than expected.
Fury warrior for life. It can be top of the charts or bottom barrel and I will still main it. I play to enjoy vs being elite. Elite will happen when it happens

yea, I'm a feral main and was definitely a bit disappointed with how low my dps was compared to other classes even though I was being pretty damn sweaty with my rotation and gearing. I'm hoping that having an MM hunter alt ready for Ulduar will tide me over and hopefully feral will take off a bit with the ulduar gear as well.
Feral scale extremely well so well they nerfed them several times from 3.1 to 3.4. By time you have iccgear youll be hitting maim often which will put you upoer tier

You can theoretically do well in parts of Ulduar. I did, in a reasonably competitive guild back in the day. But you're still playing a feral and so working much harder than anybody else.
I wish that blizz would fix the trinket procs for hunters that are known to be a bug. It's fine if DOT ticks from Black Arrow/Traps/etc don't proc trinket procs, but some of the hunter abilities just dont even proc trinkets, or proc them well below their known proc chance. It really nerfs hunters ability to use trinkets other than things like Grim Toll which give decent flat stat buffs.
I take it you don't play arena if that's the only thing you're asking for as a hunter. But yeah, it seems blizz doesn't care about hunter much. Guess there will be people that always roll hunter no matter what, being the only shooter class.

@@flameback1 There's bug where pets are stuck at the spawn in dalaran sewers arena and it's been there from the start. Doubt they will be looking into trinket procs when they can't even fix something gamebreaking like that.
Could you also look at healers for the next Phase? Would love to see that as a main Healer

In wotlk, Ret paly's were never meant to smash dps meters. They're still a support class through and through. If you aren't spending every 3rd GCD on a support spell for someone that isn't you.....then you're doing it wrong.
And if you're doing it right, then you'll be even lower on the DPS meters. It's one of the hardest specs to really quantify who's doing a good job and who isn't since alot of their good performance isn't tracked by LUA stats.

Elemental/Enhancement would be A/S tier imo, both would be even higher if blizzard could just fix their cooldown on fire elemental totem. Whenever the two shamans in our group have Fire Ele up, they stomp. When their totem is still on its 10 min cd, they are middle of the pack.
which is why you often use a glyph to reduce fire ele cd to 5mins. still not optimal if bosses are close to each other. other then that you are totally right. if you snapshot decent, fire ele is badass.
Me (ele sham) and our enhance sham kill dps on 3D OS. Ele feels week on single target to me but on aoe it's insane.
Yea glyph changing is a good option if you have a specific set for it, but if you’re trying to get a perfect parse you need to thrown down fire Ele after your spell power procs like your d curse during combat, otherwise big dps waste. Glyph changing only worked for me in beginning of phase when I had Garbo gear and wanted fire Ele for every fight.
Replaced lava burst glyph with Fire Ele glyph and I ended up topping dps meters on patch, grobb, 4h, KT, another Naxx boss, Sarth2d, and Maly. Surprising because I almost never top dps on any 25m fight. Since I got illustration that run hopefully I can get even higher next week. Glyphing and Snapshotting that fire ele is a must for any ele sham.
@WillE You forgot about combat rogue which outshines even Assa on some bosses with cleave, but overall i would say they should be at the end of S tier, it's definitely a underrated spec that will keep up with Assa going into Ulduar, depending on the length of the fight.

Blood DPS DK requires end of expansion amounts of armor pen to be relevant, and then it was still easier to just play Unholy.

@@domerame5913 Blood in ICC Armor Pen is one of the burstiest classes in the game. It was also the strongest tree early Wrath until it got nerfed.

I play blood DK (I’m a filthy casual) and doing very nice for my gear. You really have to play around your runeweapon CD. For my experience it’s solid B tier.
I planned to go MM from SV later into ToC (depending on gear), just as I did back then. But with buffed Ulduar gear, I can see SV dying off in favour of MM before Yogg is on farm
Actually, SV beats MM all trough Ulduar as it stands right now. On both 150 sec fights and 360 sec fights. So SV will be the go to spec but not by to much.

I've been surprised how much mine and my guild's experience has differed from all the ranking lists. We're not super hardcore but we do have some tryhard members. From my PoV it's Demo>Affli=Destru, very little performance difference between the 3 but a well-timed Meta and some lucky Molten Core procs will pull ahead, and fights really do feel too short for Affli to shine. Survival hunter completely unbeatable under normal circumstances, but if Arcane gets innervated everyone else can just entirely forget about it. UH good but nowhere near the kind of crazy some are squeezing out of it, idk if our DKs are just not stacking their effects properly.
What has been some big outliers you guys have seen, and what do you attribute it to?
Unholy is straight broken and requires barely any skill. Just wait for your weakaura to light up like a christmas tree and hit gargoyle > ERW > army and afk. As long as the fights are short (raid doesn't suck) and you lust on pull unholy will shit on the other dps most fights. You will get fucking 20k+ dps spikes.
If affliction locks are on par with destro-players, they are not tryharding. The spec is really outright stupid, If played properly and will only become better on multicleave/gear.

Survival hunter is really strong atm, on both single and aoe, kind of forgotten a bit because there not quite top of either one usually but always in the conversation,
As for destro I'm sure technically it isn't as good as if you min max the shift of out affliction, but I still have also seen a gamer destro warlock top overall dps and most boss encounters multiple weeks in a decent gdkp with some other pumpers in their too, he was even using 4 set t6 at times lol
Demo only beats out affli on fights where you just stand in place or special fights like Loatheb where crit bonus does fuckall to affli but makes demo a god IMO. Once you have to move 10-20sec, the casting downtime matters more to demo than affli. And it's not negligeble that demo has no threat reduction so you have to wait with AoE unless you want to suffer an early death on fights like OS. Main problem with destro is that it is just same damage all the time. No big cooldown, no execute phase. If the fight is too short (big CDs win) or too long (execute phase wins), you are screwed.

Wow people doing 10k dps, and last week guild celebrated that our 10 men Naxx everyone did 4k as it was really high D:
Demo being high in T7 should've been less of a shock to alot of people. Spells do insane baseline damage, but doesn't scale quite as well with SP as Affli, meaning Affli outtakes them the more geared both specs become.
The skill ceiling for ret isn't low at all... 90% of rets don't know what clipping is.
MM shines when you get your hands on a 245 weapon due to how weapon damage is calculated.

feral pops off when they can get 100% armor pen from gear, i was on top of meters back then when i was dpsing, i was a main tank so my gear wasnt as good as for others but it wasstill insane dps
If Wrath Classic is anything like Wrath Retail back in the day then Ferals get better in Ulduar/Tourney and absolutely dominate in Icecrown once they can cap armor penetration, hit/exp and crit plus they have their 4 piece T10 bonus that lets their bleeds crit. Back in the day the only way I lost on a dps fight was either by dying or the rogues using their T10 ToT damage bonus on each other and then it wasn't by much.
I think the biggest reason that Frost and Unholy swapped spots is down to duration of the fights.
Any fight that lasts longer, I usually outperform the Unholy DKs, with some longer fights like Thaddius having me come out on top entirely out of a guild that literally is full of people who 99 parse or they’d rather private their logs.
I’d say Frost is probably where you expected it to be, but they lack the kind of burst potential that you see with Demo lock and unholy DK. With the fights being so short (my guild has cleared Anub doing split runs- half mains half alts- with 18 total raiders in less than a minute)
I usually start off needing to scroll down on details to see my name and then end the fight doing roughly 1k DPS less than I peaked at while other classes will burst upward of 10k+ DPS and then drop down 3 or 4K DPS on longer fights ending below me.
The issue with fire mages currently isn't so much the crit... It's the lack of hit on gear and the high amount needed, forcing you in to taking hit focussed gear that generally lacks crit rating.
I think survival, enhance, frost DK and mage are so close to S already that unless they play perfectly you can still beat them, especially on overall, like while unholy dks can theoretically do so much dmg you need everything to aline and proc for you to get it, if your trinket or weap enchant or something doesn't proc when lust is about to go out and you have some other procs already you have to just go with the best you can get, because stuff is going to start being on icds and you'll miss the best window, good luck trying to keep up the same level across 15 bosses 😄
Enhance is still the most fun - nothing else does it all like enhancement.
A good enhancement player can do a lot and even support in ways outside of pure DPS

lol yep especially if RL calls for a later heroism , it can screw up your snapshot, honestly I've seen elemental shamans do some ridiculous dps in 25man also

I originally was gonna go DPS warrior, but I honestly re-rolled to do Prot because it was more fun to tank with Tier 7 gear. Maybe Tier 8 will prove to be more fun for warrior I hope.
Same. Been Fury since Classic launched, but I was eyeing Wrath's Shockwave + Thunder Clap is good now. So on the prepatch went Prot with Fury offspec (in case we were full on tanks). Sure, we lack the "remote AoE" DKs get with DnD making it hard to pick up the whelps when Drake-tanking OS10, but other than that it has been thoroughly enjoyable. And Fury is waiting and gearing in the rafters in the mean time.

You can just charge in aoe taunt the whelps and intercept back.
@@TheGunterled That depends on when the drake is going to breath. The safest suggestion I heard so far is to Vigilance the other tank (he has a threat lead anyway) and taunt all the whelps individually. At that point I say bring a dps DK and let him bring the whelps to me.

I dont understand how you can rate Assa Rogue higher than Affli Lock, I have yet to see a Rogue beat a Lock.
Still love playing my Ret pally. Off-tanking as Prot is super fun too. That said, I’m definitely gonna be leveling a DK and Warrior during the winter xp buff lol
It may be just me but currently imo. Fury warrior is better right now just stacking pure stats instead of armor pen. Im def going to get my pen max later but for now, im just going to stack my stat sticks.

Feral is a great dps to play for me.
First, it’s not brain dead rotation.
Second, best off tank. And you can go from dps to tank with 1 gcd. I saved a fight probably a dozen times by shifting into a bear start tanking.

Yea its hard to do Calculation when BLizzard hase changed the Stats of the Bosses. so no class performs like original Wotlk. thought that would be clear ^^

Spreists are fine. Im consistently top 5 dpsbin 25man. They are S tier in icc with 4 peice t10
11:52 Again, cannot stress this enough. Fight length doesn't really change how long the execute phase is relative to the rest of the fight. The "short fights are bad for execute effects" is essentially always fallacious.
You are broadly right but some stacking Execute effects are harmed. Juggernaut the warrior trait in Legion gave 3% damage on Execute after every Execute stacking up to 99 times so longer Execute meant Fury was utterly bonkers
Christian Finnish Frostiis i plan to play a warrior, i only care about PVP BG performance since i love PVP the most but this is a nice and useful video and let's you know where you're character stands or will stand i have not yet started
Having fun playing BM hunter, and actually perfoeming well. Consistantly high dps, and at 4.3k gs, I am unable to sim higher as surv or MM. (Simming 7.8k dps patchwork atm) not sure why it's getting this much hate 😊

With nothing in D and F you should spread out the rankings for a better idea of their DPS.
I mained feral back in the day and playing it now does feel detuned. Even tanking dps is significantly lower.
Assassination rogue has one of the best single target damage and they can aoe really well now with the fan of knives spec using a 2.5 speed caster dagger and fel striker combo to pump insane numbers. Very surprised it hasnt seen a nerf yet and fingers crossed it doesnt happen.
can someone pls explain to me why survival hunter is better than marksmen? its a honest question. it seems surv only is better if you do time the rotation perfectly but im not really sure. would appreciate thoughts of you!
surv's main ability does fire damage, whereas mm is physical, so without amor pen the explosive shot will do more, hence why mm is better once you have armor pen
Survival is better in phase 1 if played by a competent hunter. But you have a lot of surv hunters clipping their lock and load procs and not re-applying SS and Black arrow in a timely manner. MM is a more streamlined rotation with great sustain. An average to below average player will do better playing MM. Survival has a higher skill cap.

Main reason to have a destro warlock is if you somehow lack replenishment.
Thank you for making content that makes people shut their mouths about how trash survival hunter is.
It's true UH absolutely blasts on ST, but since you already included overall dmg in your considerations it's just not possible to put anything else than assassination rogue on top in this tier. Not only are they way ahead of anyone else on trash with the right trash dual spec and gear, but it's also very reliable and even helps your other DPS do more dmg due to threat being such a non issue with multiple tricks available.
Another thing worth taking into account is that you usually tricks affli locks which neither benefits from in WCL statistics/rankings, boosting the value of both. In a good raid setup I'd consider assassination 1st, and shared 2nd between UH and affli for this reason.
As an ele sham I’m kinda scared if I can be viable enough to stay ele and be effective in Ulduar. I’ve just started really getting close to BiS and doing much more damage in Naxx25 and even topping meters in some boss fights.
Almost every spec is viable enough, it's not necessary to always top the dps meters. Especially a spec that brings a lot on the table besides DPS, like ele

It just scales worse than fireball, so if you are good at frostfire, you should be even better as pure fire.

@@ledorf FFB currently is bugged and double dips on a few raid buffs. it gets 6% hit from the 3 hit debuff, and 10% crit from the 5% crit raid buff. so its getting a big boost
To be honest, I've been quite consistently underwhelmed by Warlock dps. In my raids (apart from one Naxx 10) I never see them doing anything special.
Unholy DK, Arcane Mage and Hunters seem to be the GOATs of the raids I'm in.
Warlocks are a hard class to play because of the amount of snapshotting you have to deal with. I have 2 friends (one affliction and one demo) that do pretty well. But to hear them explain what they have to keep track of, makes my head spin. We have multiple warlocks that just don't do well because of it.
But ya, I've been proud to see hunters do so well. I've played survival since the start and am constantly in the top 3 if not the top. I'm a good player, but not as good as the spec is letting me seem lol. It's been great to see.

u're destro lock ranking is to low ... checking logs on 95th percentile they are above survival and frost dk and behind combat and enhancement.... so why u think they are last in B when they should be high A beats me .... maybe cause u think they should play the other specs or cause there are not that many player going for them (mostly ppl that know what they do)

If you think dragon models are terrible for a survival hunter just wait until you deal with maexxna lmao. Also I think if more MM hunters started incorporating trap weaving into their build they'd be better off and potentially a low A to high B tier spec.

Survival should be top A and enhance should be S tier (moving down to A in Ulduar). Forst Dk is behind boomys in current wowlogs they only shine on Thadius
I hope warrior preforms better in ulduar the second time around, all I can say is my fingers are crossed.
arent warriors supposed to perform better with armor pen? dont think they'd get enough to cap till togc.

@@fckihate69jokes they're buffing ulduar gear, so we likely will be near, if not at, armor pen cap with a full set of 25m Ulduar armor, weapons, and jewelry.

Sub rogue does more damage than all the specs you put in C so why put it in D? Because it's hard to play?
Played correctly, Blood DK DPS, Frost Mages, and BM Hunters can pull competative DPS. Will they top charts, no. Will they sit in middle of the pack? For sure. They're far from D-level specs and one of the many reasons I play them. Had more than a few people whisper me asking why I'm dpsing blood and by the end of runs they're saying "huh, I guess I better give it a shot!"

Affliction warlock. Always was first back then.
The problem is that a lot of tier lists were basing them on patch 3.3.5 and across the entire expansion or how they will be by ICC in addition to once again utilizing pserver experience/data as the rule, how many times does it need to be said they are not the same as classic omen/clearcasting procs among many other things were just absolutely broken on some pservers and people knew it too but I digress. Many tier lists didn't focus on P1 alone and some classes as we have seen before start slow and scale over time. Imagine that. Forgive me for the slight snarkyness here, but this is all relatively straightforward stuff. Yet many content creators are just putting BS out there, and people lap it up. It's sad.
I think Ulduar will not be kind to Spell Enhance. I expect Enhanced Shamans to fall down to bottom A tier as they dont get a new MH weapon to replace Wrath until HC ToC or ICC when they swap to normal enhance with armor penetration and WF.

The comment about hitboxes vs hunter traps trigger me as a hunter main every week. Still dont understand why the melee hitbox and trap trigger hitbox are not the same.
