Tools from Canadian Tire seem the most functionality for the money. For a one house construction, it is the only way to go especially with their countless sales.
Katie, in the last episode you mentioned being in New Zealand at some point. Conversation between a Canadian and a Kiwi - Canadian says "New Zealand doesn't have anything that Canada doesn't." New Zealander: "Perhaps, but we can see it all in one day ..." 🙂 Always liked that one! I love your channel - you are much more realistic than many others - you have to work for a living as well as working on your homestead. I often wonder how some of these people manage to make enough money to support their lifestyles even with monetisation and perhaps Patreon income. Keep the videos coming. I look forward to them every week!
The whole point of a DIY is to do it yourself. I'm glad you decided to do so.
Money saved.
Don't forget the pride whenever you finish and can say " I did this".
The whole thing holds more importance.
Loved the video. Great to see you make one more step to finishing your dream.
Stay strong and safe.
I worked for a company that manufactures environmentally safe wood finishes for a while. I am a type A kind of gal.. I will never forget my boss telling me “it’s a deck, not a piano.” 😉🤣 your attention to detail is commendable! You guys are doing such a fine job on your deck, and entire home. 🌲🦃🐔🐾🦆
Looks great! Anker looks like the answer to emergency power back up or even a great QUIET way to power a CPAP at an upcoming camping weekend. 😁
Hello 👋dear, how are you doing?
You're going to love how dependable and long-lasting that Anker power station is. I bought an Anker portable power pack it's about the size of a cellphone it's 20,000 milliamps. It will charge my cell phone almost 7 times. I've had it for 4 years and only have to plug it in and top it off every 4 months or so. It holds a charge for an incredibly long time.
I loved when the bench still floated...amazing progress, enjoy the hotub
Looking good guys. All my respect.. Having a full time job and build your own house, taking good care of your animals. You rock!!! Greetings from South Africa.. ❤️
Taping and floating is a thankless task. We had sheetrock work done a few years ago and the forman told us - if you have to sand after floating then really aren't doing it correctly. They never sanded just feather-edged. Takes a lot of skill. But, have fun with that.
All part of the process!
Katie , I have no doubt you can do drywall. Looks so different with sheetrock on the stairs. Before you know it you all will be moving in.
Spring season, things flowing faster soon, feeling like a real house soon💫
You know you can get pressure-treated plywood... Also, you can paint plywood to protect it.
Take your time drywalling you will get it! Yes you do have to keep trimming their wings
Some of your chickens are so beautiful, nice shot of the rosemary and mint, looked so lush. I laughed when the escape artists previous name was Houdini! I gotta say, your house is so unique, the layout is perfect and it’s without a doubt going to be warm in winter and cool in summer.
When I had chickens , I had to put netting and/ or hardwire over the chicken yard to keep them in and the predators from getting in.
It still floats!!! When you find something floating in the hot tub you know it’s not gonna be a good day lol
From winnipeg. Still have a bit of snow in the bushes along the Seine River. My wildflowers are just peeking thru the cover.
Greg, look into a 4 in one bucket to fit the front of the tractor. they are the same as the one you have except they open and close like jaws and you can pick logs up like jaws. Saves trying to balance a log on your bucket.
4K video looks amazing. Love my grapple attachment on my Kubota L2501HST, transformed it into a brush & log monster!
I totally chicken wired them in, I also buried the chicken wire wrapped around a 1”x4” then burned it four inches. I did it one time and no more escaping.

I just spent about an hour doing my homework. I want the same Anker charger and when it's available the solar power charger. I'm impressed Greg and Katie! Looks like another "Granny's Security toolbox MUST"!
Wow hard work there! Y’all work well as a team and have a goal for finishing, this next winter will be comfortable for y’all! Have a relaxing time in the hot tub!
You are making good progress. Just finished putting down the hardwood floors in my new home, I'm just a little bit ahead of ya'll
I cant believe some boneheads said to hire out the drywall mud and tape , the whole point of doing it yourself , is to do it yourself !!! watching from Southern California
still liking the bangs / see how many subscribers will join Patron if Greg shaves his head LOL
The stool that you made for the hot tub still floating gave me a hell of a good belly laugh. I can only imagine the frustration on Gregs mind about then/LOL. I still think that you two are the most classiest folk of Canada. Just loving this build
The neighbor said " should have used hemlock". Lol I will know for next time
Here in Nebraska we dont install vapor barrier on the inside if you have an outside house wrap because it traps moisture . My wife and I built four homes while still working so i understand how you feel ..... Most people rock the ceilings first before the walls , helps hold the edge of the rock up .
They have stated in previous replies & in videos that ceilings are T&G wood!
very good in making the house yourselves, when it is finished, much more pleasure,
Some nice sized logs to cut into some useful lumber!
Greetings from Netherland Have also a great week. Stay safe and healthy
Thank you for your great videos. Nice to see two young person building their future.
Seriously impressed with what you two are able to get done. Building a homestead from scratch while working is sizable task. I often times have to myself to quit to avoid burnout.
What tractor is that you have? I was amazed to see it carrying those massive dog fir logs around.
although not everything went as planned it is looking nicer and nicer. Keep up the good mood.
It’s looking more and more like a home! Hope you two have a great week!
Looking super great. Making so much progress. I like that Anker power house. Nice having power where and when you need it. Sweet. Thanks for sharing
Sunny Florida / Sebring near the race track and lake after lake after lake LOL also mobile home parks everywhere !!
Doug Fir is very strong, but Southern Yellow Pine beats it. My trusses are made from SYP and driving a wire staple in it usually results in a bent staple. Doug Fir has a bending strength of 12,400 PSI, SYP is 14,500 PSI.
That plywood is more expensive than the trailer now!!
Enjoy watching your videos and progress. Great job!
If you can play with drywall and Mudding as well as you can drive a tractor ...No problem....
Very nice job so far!! Maybe if you drill a bunch of holes in the spa chair, like perforations, then water will flow through it so it's not so bouyant.. Just my 2 cents.. Good luck with whatever you do..Stay safe my friends.👍🤓👍🤓 Rady.
Drilling holes in wood will make it more buoyant!!!!!
how about putting a net roof over the whole coop area? you may need a few uprights to support it but I've seen it done with great success x
The house is coming together, great work guys !
Pallet forks are a Must have.
Lots of progress have been made nice GOD BLESS
Great work guys. Very proud of you and what you are doing.
Love your comment about the 'best Canadian Fir, Greg !!!! Great music btw.
Awesome Job guys great Video to, keep up the great job,Sid
Thanks again for sharing. You guys are just amazing!
When people say you should cut the chicken wings what you should actually do is only cut one wing and just the flight feathers near the end, that makes them lopsided and they can't take off at all..
Errington. ..glad to see your cleaning wood around house less fire risk...mudding is not bad just watch a few you tube videos....thanks 4 video. be kind.
Looking GREAT!!!!
Just a suggestion, why not use some of the smaller logs along the road to cut down the water flow in spring? The mill should work to cut one side to sit on the sides of the road, that could divert at least some of the water.
You might be able to use the offcuts across the road to give you a clearer path, keep it drier. 🤷 Just one suggestion.
That wall up the stairs looks great 👍👍! Got somewhat nervous watching him lean way over to put the drywall screws in. 🤫
I think it's so damn awesome and cool that your goats act like dogs the chicken they act like they're the cats it's funny it's amusing and it's so awesome to watch the Cat Just Be Frisky and keep being itself
The guinny at start is saying he is perplexed ..and I quote : “ perplex perplex perplex “
Looking good. God bless y'all.
Hi the gray chicken is going to be lunch, chicken taco 🌮 ,
The house is looking great,God Bless and take care.
I like your show. I am still curious, when the kitchen will arrive.
Looking so good
Vous êtes deux très bon courageux et travailleurs je vous aime et continuez votre aventure et bon courage kiss René
Looking good guys .Cleveland Ohio here.
Thanks
hi when you start mudding buy some throw away piping type bags as you can pipe the mud into the corners easier just a thought.
You guys are amazing.
Kate you have trouble with the flying you can trim their flight feathers on the wings which will retard them flying
Your were right to order early your doing a great job..
Thanks!
keep on going you 2. how Many power banks do you have now? sponsors after you.
house looking good
It's really sad that we couldn't hear the tractor working instead of that music!
When you start mudding, here's a tip. 1st get some of the 45 min cure mud. 2nd, get you some good ziplock bags, the gallon size. Put the mud into the bag. Cut a small corner out of the bottom, squeeze it out of the bag like a cake decorator. Into all the larger spaces you need to fill in. Work with your putty blades as usual. The will save tons of time fixing all the large gaps They also make an electric sander that has an extension to it to get all of your high spots, al can hook your vac to it to really minimize the dust. Amazon is your friend for that.
You have watched Lumnah Acres I see
@@glengillis7775 yep!
I know you probably mentioned what you plan to put behind the stove but I must have missed it.
It's a surprise
Thanks!
Thanks for the super thanks!
Looks great
I love you guys and watch ever video but I have a question. Why did you stop working on the outside of the house? Why have you not sided it and not covered all the insulation on the outside?
We want to make it liveable asap, then we'll work on everything else
Hi both ! don't forget the Canadians, where do you buy the Anker so that they won't charge you four hundred thousands dollars to ship it ?
Chickens need to fly to escape predators so if you can do without clipping that would help the chickens. 😊
multi tools are the best !!
Wow good news. Cupboards yeh
looking good
Hello from Germany from Kakenstorf Hans und Oci topp, topp topp❤❤❤👍👍👍❤❤❤
My wife and I love your channel. We just purchased the same tractor you have, Kioti CK3510...we are looking to buy snow chains. What type did you get and where did you buy them? Or better yet what would you recommend?
There was a guy named Forrest Tucker NOT THE ACTOR . This guy was a criminal. Robert Redford played him in OLD MAN A & THE GUN. Forrest escaped prison 18 times including at least twice from San Quentin. I think Forrest is a more appropriate name than Houdini
Hey guys I was wondering all of your cut logs are you going to Mill those for woodwork or are those for heating the home? That would end up being some beautiful wood inside the house. Take care and God bless. Tony
It will be milled into lumber for the house, trim etc
waiting for those videos as well
Do you drywall measure in Metric, or feet n inches?
Tie their wings behind their back . Good luck
Привет, бро попробуй технологию сруб ,построй баню и иди тудаже!!😂🤣😅
I forget what that stuff is called that's on the exterior of the house but won't it go bad or rot unless you cover it with siding?
It's water repellent and inorganic, late summer we should be getting the siding on!
@@ThisOffGridLife cool I was worried the snow from last winter might have ruined it and you might have to end up redoing it. The place is really coming along.😁
Beautiful Birds. For food or fun? or both?
They are egg layers/my friends 😅 we do seperate meat chickens too
Get a router, it will make cutting windows and doors ect way easier
Ciao ragazzi dall'Italia... 😘
It's look like a house 🏠
Check out Vancouver Carpenter for muddying tips. I’m horrible at muddying but he has some great how to videos
Thanks for the reccomendation
Perhaps the solution for chickens that escape is to put lead shoes on them.🤣🤣
😂
Dad joke!
Lol ceiling drywall goes up before walls I laugh at everything you do wrong
We are putting tongue and groove wood on the ceiling. Glad to make you laugh!
@@ThisOffGridLife lol
Hot Tub to the rescue ahhhhhhh😌

Katie is you related to a singer called Chez Kane 😳😎
You know how to tell your female Guinea’s from the males? The females have the two-tone squawk, the males only have one tone😎.
Down here a trailer with no fenders is a ticket
Yes, we need to weld them on
🤘
