      BellularGaming They should do what the comunnity wants, i mean bring back the badass characters make us fight the burning legion, the naga, kick sargeras and azsharas ass, discover what king rastakhan and the zandalari are doing. Bring back the old talent trees and the content they removed (like melee weapons for hunters, i loved that).In my opinion lets kill gul'dan finish the xpac so blizzard can start like reviving wow (sorry for my bad english)

    • @Instabilitygarrosh
      @Instabilitygarrosh 9 лет назад +2

      BellularGaming Obviously they can. They have 25-30 MILLION people playing a single game at the moment. Blizzard is probably the best game developer is the world. Their issue is they've hired shitty ass dev's and community managers. Most don't remember this but partway through Wrath major changes were made to the dev team and the game obviously went down hill after that. The last good expansion was Wrath, the lore, raid, dungeons, and everything else made it by far the best expansion we've ever seen. Either these current devs need to get their shit together quick or Blizzard needs to hire new ones because WoW can't survive another garbage expansion like WoD, Mists, or Cata.

    As a raider, I quit because I was simply on logging for raids then logging out, and while I had fun raiding, that's not enough to keep me subbed. I stopped with alts a few weeks earlier than that, and with garrison stuff about a week before, they were just not entertaining enough. One can only make so many alts.
    Also, LFR is not the reason 2.9 million people left, they left because they got tired of only being able to play fucking Farmville outside of raids.

    • @demonpride1975
      @demonpride1975 9 лет назад

      Alexander Erixon dude wow has beaten most games for longevity. sure games like runescape have a lot of views. but the simple fact is blizzard makes more off wow then most company's see in a 5 year span. and blizzard has stated they have enough ideas to keep the game going for another 6 years maybe more. so 16 years after wow launched and people are still bitching ask yourself one question. how much money has blizzard made over 16 years with the juggernaut called wow. then gasp and go holy shit. cause i can guarantee its well over the 100 billion dollar mark.

    • @cheetengho7876
      @cheetengho7876 9 лет назад

      demonpride1975 Too bad they ain't using those money to innovate the game instead it's being used on other games like heartstone and overwatch

      *****
      like most company's they cannot just stick with one game. to stay afloat and make more money. company's like blizzard need to offer more variety. but blizzard has made enough off of wow that they can put that money into other games. thats why those other games like overwatch, hearthstone and heroes of wow can be free.

      Raim Surion Also on the actual subject. Its a huge shame because the situation has gotten so bad that they are literally telling players that complaining about a lack of content (even when giving suggestions in addition to it) is now a ban worthy offense. So apparently we can't give feedback on the situation anymore safely. On top of that they seem to have some strange system that is informing them that "Their numbers show that there is enough content that most players are doing." Im guessing that system is just based on how long people login, and not what they are doing (idling in the garrison).

    • @demonpride1975
      @demonpride1975 9 лет назад

      Raim Surion i sorta agree with the whole keeping quiet about suggestions. while you may think its horrible. take into account before when there was a suggestions forum. it was bloated with useless 2 year olds bitching that they didn't have enough epics or so on so forth. really stupid shit. do you think blizzard has the time to sift through all of it to find one gem and still meet deadlines.
      blizzard needs to go one step further and start banning ignorant fucks in the general discussion forum. but a lot of people say oh that's the one they do not moderate because it holds the ignorant people there.

  • @aTourniquet

    For everyone saying that the players using WoW tokens don't count: these numbers are from before the tokens were introduced. The 7.1 million subscribers number is from March.

    • @KidGacy
      @KidGacy 9 лет назад

      Lacrimosa people using tokens do count even if the data was recent , someone payed 20$ for that sub and you pay them in game gold , in fact it's a more expensive sub , and in terms of sub numbers nothing changes because for every token sold on the AH , someone had to pay 20$

    • @aTourniquet
      @aTourniquet 9 лет назад

      KidGacy They WILL count as subs for the Q2 and onwards numbers. The tokens were not available at the time when the 7.1m subs was counted, so for these numbers they make no difference.

    • @KidGacy
      @KidGacy 9 лет назад +1

      Lacrimosa Yes I understood , I was just pointing out thefact that if they did it again , tokens would be counted as they are in fact subs that blizz sells to people for them to exchange for gold.

      MrRanderas pvp is in the worst state its ever been in, raids were fun, but got boring, extra difficulties is not good content

  • @MrCdrant
    @MrCdrant 9 лет назад +7

    They say single difficulty didn't cater to casuals well enough, why was the number of subs steadily climbing so high in vanilla/BC then? One difficulty, but the players kept coming and didn't leave. They created a playerbase of sedentary gamers who refuse to leave their comfy places because they no longer have to. They just click a tab and a queue to get them what they want will appear.

    • @Airwave202
      @Airwave202 9 лет назад +3

      drantcg The phrase people always use is "I pay the same amount as everyone else, I deserve to get to see the content that everyone else does".
      I can see why people say that but what they don't realize is they are depriving themselves of something truly special. Peach Gaming had a video on this called "The Problem in the Mists" and I truly feel like he hit on some of the major points of why the game is failing compared to it's older versions. If you haven't watched that video I recommend everyone who reads this to go watch it.
      That phrase kills the reward of getting that epic piece of gear you have dreamed of for so long. It kills the epic feeling of killing a badass boss that has been kicking your ass for weeks. Seeing other players with sick gear that glows and has amazing stats is something that drove me to raid in the first place. I saw mages in Tier 1 and I was nearly drooling at my keyboard. I haven't had that feeling since probably TBC. Inaccessibility is something that motivates players to become better and see that content for themselves.

    • @MrCdrant
      @MrCdrant 9 лет назад

      Gaia Tuvan Agreed, that entitlement phrase has killed this game. This isn't running water and basic education, it's a video game. You're not entitled to the same things as everyone else, even if you put in the same amount of effort. It's a reward for performance situation, just like sports are.

    • @siffran123
      @siffran123 9 лет назад

      drantcg You forget that back in vanilla / Bc most people hadn't played the same game for 10 years and that the competition for the playerbase has grown ALOT. Blizzards own games, LOL, HON, DOTA, CS GO are just a few games that has attracted an enormous fanbase during the few years they have been out.

  • @KaldwinUnderscore
    @KaldwinUnderscore 9 лет назад +27

    I'm surprised they didn't lose more subs tbh. I mean a lot of the people who came back for WoD were people who left in MoP when the subs dropped to 6.8mil because they thought that WoD could save the game and what they got was warlords of garrisons. I thought the subs would drop below 5 million easily by this point. And I'd say with the release of the WoW token the subs will probably go up to somewhere around 8 million or so

    • @Archey6
      @Archey6 9 лет назад +6

      don't forget that these are the numbers for January to march who knows how many they've lost by now

    • @eganimation8021
      @eganimation8021 9 лет назад +2

      Allison Kaldwyn-Cain And like asmon said, who knows how many people of those remaining 6.8 are chinese bots just farming. A whole bunch i think.

    • @demonpride1975
      @demonpride1975 9 лет назад +3

      Allison Kaldwyn-Cain i do not understand why people are still on this topic. i mean Jesus the game is 10 years old. it has nothing to do with the content. but just that wow in general is getting stale. but maybe the math needs to be done on this subject so people can understand a bit better. even if it were to go to 5 million subs. that's 5 million x 15 dollars monthly. so that's 75 million a month then times that by 15. that's 1,125,000,000 yearly on card sales alone. this is not factoring certain things such as the wow item store. selling plushies t shirts mugs limited edition weapons. the list goes on. while blizzard has lost subs. they are in no way shape or form in danger of having an issue.
      now some might say that blizzard is supposed to be about the fans. when the real truth is the core of blizzard is a business. and they are doing good. most aaa company's do not even come close to the sales that blizzard does. at 10 million copies of wod sold the figure comes to 600 million. that is still millions more then most aaa company's make on a game release that took years to develop. we can sit here and debate the sub count going down blah blah blah. but the numbers do not lie.

    • @KaldwinUnderscore
      @KaldwinUnderscore 9 лет назад

      demonpride1975 And your point is? Numbers do not lie, and the numbers are showing that right now, this game is hemorrhaging subscribers. It just experienced the biggest subscriber loss in the game's history, and probably in ANY game's history in that short period. You say it's not an issue of content then IMMEDIATELY say the game is stale(News flash, that's an issue of content). I never said I thought it would be bad at 5 million subs, I just said I thought that they would drop to 5 million, which would by no means be good for blizzard(literally one half of your players leaving the game over 3 months is a hell of a lot worse than a third leaving)
      My comment had LITERALLY nothing about how much blizz makes then compared to now, it was a speculation as to what made three million people stop playing.

    • @demonpride1975
      @demonpride1975 9 лет назад

      *****
      i have been playing wow since the gates first opened in vanilla. and trust you me i am an encyclopedia of lore for wow. using the economics of the game is actually a very valid point and argument.
      the problem you don't not get is because of blizzards playerbase. they have forced most mmos that try to take them on with a sub fee to go f2p. but if blizzard is making billions then i am guessing they are not in any sad state.
      now as for the buying time in game. yes you can do that. but here is the thing. if you do not have time on yoru acount you have to buy time. then you have to invest the time to get the ingame coin. this may seem like no big task. except that the ingame is about 15 - 20 k gold. the economy in wow is pretty shit. and with the iteration of the ingame coin makes the ah even worse to manage now as people are putting things over priced in to get that gold.
      now to address your question regarding boe ninjaing. dude ITS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE DAY ONE. people have always ninjaed gear. this is nothing new. so that kinda makes that point a bit moot.

    Back in Vanilla I'd just started playing, but I could literally sit in Stormwind and talk to random people for hours and enjoy it. I could find someone running Stratholme and we'd talk endlessly about random crap all the way through the dungeon. You just don't get that anymore, which is a massive shame.
    These days you join a dungeon and no one even bothers to talk. And while I'm on that point, group quests bring them back. Stop making every quest so god damn easy. There's no sense of achievement by doing quests anymore.
    I miss things like Gurubashi Arena and world events the Scourge Invasion back in Vanilla was brilliant, the scourge invasion in Wrath was brilliant and Highlord Kruul in TBC was fucking brilliant too. I just wish we had more events and also have more of a reason to socialise with players again.
    Blizzard really need to get there shit together as it's a game that's been with me for 9 years and It's a game that I love. It's sad seeing a once great game go down this path.

      David Smith That is why I want server only communities. What is the point of talking to people in BG's and dungeons when I will never see those people again. I wanted to say that I agree with a lot of what you said and I am curious if you'd entertain an idea I had while watching this vid. Do you think you could make a video comparing the differences between WoD and Vanilla/other expacs? It really hit home when you said "You can't play one character in WoD, and play hardcore with one character. There is really no single main character experience." And I agree, very much. I just think it would be very cool to see the way the game has changed over time, in a nice rage free comparison video.

    If they want to bring back World of Warcraft to the golden age, they should look at Burning Crusade, it really was the best expansion and the peak of the game in my opinion. Sadly, this will not happen due to the community.
    The biggest factor of why the game is trash now, theres literally no reason to play it. You can just buy anything you want off the Black Market that would normally be given to a player that just completed an incredibly difficult task or set of achievements. Want something ? Buy it off the Black Market, its really as simply as that. Get the best raid mounts, gear etc, all on the Black Market.
    The majority of the community doesnt cares about lore anymore, they dont care about story telling, they dont care for complexity, they dont care about creating friends or experiencing epic moments together with one another. All the community cares about now is looking cool, getting items without working for them.
    I have no beef with casual players, this isnt an argument about elite vs. casual. This is about the community blatantly killing the game instead of experiencing it in all its greatness, you can tell just how bad the game has gotten since Wrath of The Lich King.

      @MoonfeatherWildkin 9 лет назад

      Tin Foil Hat I agree, Warcraft III was WoW's backbone and once the main storylines from it were tied up with BC and WotLK, WoW started to feel pretty weak. At this point, I think it would do Blizz a lot of good to work hard and release a new Warcraft game, introduce some new characters and plot elements, and create a fresh environment for a new era of WoW.

    • @ryanexsus
      @ryanexsus 9 лет назад +1

      Tin Foil Hat Think about this, when Burning Crusade launched, there was Karazhan, SSC, Magtheridon's Lair, Gruul's Lair, Tempest Keep, that you basically had to do in order before the first patch of Black Temple came out. That's THREE TIERS of raiding open from the time the game came out, to the first major patch.

    • @Airwave202

      Tin Foil Hat I agree that BC was the pinnacle of WoW. You can argue that the raid attunements were a negative but I truly feel like everything else in that expansion was perfect to a T. I didn't even get to do most of TK and SSC but I had so much fun that expansion.
      The Heroic dungeons, the raids, the attunements, Netherwing dailies, the Sunwell island and everything in-between was great. You still had server only dungeons, server only BG's etc and the leveling process was still something that didn't take 2 seconds with no difficulty or thought process.
      Multiple difficulties of the same raid doesn't inspire me. Seeing people with badass gear and hearing about epic raids and bosses inspires me. Doing the same raid as a Mythic raider on a lower difficulty isn't inspiration. All I care about nowadays is seeing the content once and losing all interest in the raid outside of helping out my guildies.

      ***** Agree with the storylines and major lore characters are a huge influence. WoD has really cool lore characters but when it is all an alternate timeline it really diminishes the true epicness of what you are apart of. Who cares if we kill Gul'Dan or Archimonde? It's an alternate timeline and they didn't really exists LOLOLOLOLOL.
      I started playing WoW because of how amazing the WC3 story was and seeing characters like Arthas, Illidan, Kael'thas and Lady Vashj. There are great characters in WoD that could be more effective if this wasn't an alternate timeline.
      I am waiting anxiously for the Azshara expansion that I have wanted for so long. That is something that could truly get me invested.

    Well said man! 100% with this, I really hope blizzard will get it right next xpac... Or hope 6.2 is good, been subbed for 10 years and I think I'm about to call it quits. This xpac is just so bad it's crazy. All I do is sit in my garrison and raid... I really don't do much else, sure I do my mount runs every week and I also run around the world here and there to go see if there is something to do but 99% of the time it's garrisoncraft and it's awful.
    Not sure what to say at this point, I've played WoW for a very long time, it's been apart of my life and it's helped me in ways that will be with me for life(like pulling me out of my antisocial bubble) but it's now starting to pull me back into that bubble as crazy as that sounds... I used to know a lot of people on my realm, now I only know people I have on real ID and I never really group with someone that's not on real ID or on my realm because the group finder is the only way to find a group for anything. I don't want these things to go away, but they need to figure out a way to make realms work together more! Group 5mans, world bosses, world pvp that isn't crazy dumb... When I attack someone they should be able to use some crazy ass toy that makes them fly into the sky a million miles up and then fly away and you never be able to ketchup with them. Like, what? That's not fun at all.
    Some people(2) tried to kill me, when I turned the tables on them they just went flying in the sky from some dumb ass toy and were gone. Like what.... I don't even understand that. This game has become to weird it's insane.
    I'm just ranting at this point...
    Guru out.

Eve is the only mmo that has remained stable and slowly been growing over the years. Makes you wounder what people have against it. Its also funny how people make a big deal over WOW losing subs as if its even a big deal. WOW would be fine with only 1mil subs, hell EVE online only has 500k+ and half the community hasn't payed for the game in years. And yet, EVEs Devs put a lot more work in effort into it then the Wow devs.

      basically WoW being with 40 keybinds for each class (they removed a lot so might be even less) is a casuals game now, do dailys,
      pve is a brickwall against casuals (not sure tho, but the jump from leveling to pve is harsh for newbies, especially with the 90 boosts)
      pvp is offputting when a warrior can kill you within 5 seconds if you dont have gear
      runescape you lose all your items when you die in pvp, i think its also more pvp oriented game, even tho you have limited amount of skills or keybinds definitely gonna check it out

    • @asmongold1341
      @asmongold1341  9 лет назад +31

      Sonnabend00 I didn't say LFR was the sole reason that subs dropped, that's ridiculous, it's not even the main reason, I said it was a factor.
      Even though it seems obvious you don't want an answer, I'll give it to you anyway: I'd like to see entry-level raiding go back to how it was in WotLK, where you could pretty much go into Naxx 10 right out of heroics and do just fine. Then move up into ToC, and go on from there. Casual players are the backbone of this game and it would be silly to think overwise, I want to give those casual players a means and venue to interact with each other.
      I'm not against casual players and I think entry-level raiding is one of the most important parts of the game which is why it's so important that it provides a rewarding and social experience for the player which I believe LFR in it's current form does not.

    The idea you talked about, erasing the WoD timeline, that might actually work to their advantage. When the timeline closes off, at the temporal epicenter could remain a wormhole of sorts that leads to the next chapter in WoW lore. Kinda like what they did with Darkseid in Smallville season 10, only instead of a wormhole in space, it's a wormhole in time, it would still be visible in space as space and time are two facets of the same construct, that is if einsteinium physics apply to WoW.

    I never got the logic in this expansion. They removed flying so that we would encounter other players more, yet give us garrisons where we just sit around all day alone, because there's just not much to do outside of the garrison. I met far more people in Pandaria than I do now. I nearly quit as well, but decided to stay because I still love raiding. My guild is currently struggling to get a working raid team though, as more and more of our members take a hiatus from the game (indefinitely). On top of that, on the armory my armor looks like it's tmogged to the normal version of the t17 warrior, what kind of a slap in the face is that?

    They need to have more in-game GM's like moderators for battle grounds, dungeons and Trade chat, if they see some one breaking the rules they could warn them, if they are non responsive they would get a second warning as a temp ban, then perma ban if it goes on.

    Sitting my garrison whilst waiting for raid time is all I did. Even then, raiding the same bosses over and over, week after week gets hella fucking boring. Theres a reason why RS has more viewers on twitch, its a better game.

    I think its more garrison than LFR, because LFR has been in there over two years and this hasnt happened before.
    I think its the change from LFR from casual raiding to tourist mode..
    Sucky severs are another big big issue.

    It saddens me...I've met some of the coolest people online and later in person all the way through TBC and part of Wrath expansions. After that, those friends left and it was harder to even hold a decent conversation because of cross realms and dungeon finders. My account is still active but I stopped playing 4 weeks into WoD expansion. I hate to say goodbye to WoW so I'll log in for a minute and then log right back out and play Heroes of the Storm BETA lol.

    I think that they are making the console version of WoW and that is where all of the development resources are being pulled to, or hampered by. Might be a separate team, but I'm sure the PC team gets dragged into meetings with the console team. Why do I think this? Ability pruning and the graphics change.

    Professions and the economy were my favourite parts of the game. I also like a somewhat meaningful levelling experience. That's had its heart torn out with this joke of an expansion. I've been playing since Feb 2005 -- my account has never lapsed. I've not logged on since early Feb and in the month before that I was pretty much just "checking my follower email" every day. You're right -- it sucks.

    Skipping capitals for things like Ashram and Garrisons may have been the biggest mistake. It's not really an MMO if I can do everything from my Garrison and only go to the "Hub" to get my damn tokens for the week.

      Chance Turner What's the point, though? It's the same shit with a "harder" mechanic... If you can call gear requirement a hard mechanic.

    • @Airwave202
      @Airwave202 9 лет назад +2

      Chance Turner Mythic is harder, there is no denying that. But really, what is my motivation to do it? I can do Heroic instead. All I get out of Mythic is a few different mechanics and a different color gear with higher item level. After doing an entire raid on one difficulty I can't be fucking bothered to run it again on another. Wipe over and over on the same bosses I just wiped on for weeks on a different difficulty. No thanks.

      Gaia Tuvan My sarcasm went over everyones head, I agree with all of you, I stopped raiding in mid Cata and I feel like theres no content in WoD for me, I tried to get into normal HM at the start but every group fell apart after one wipe on Brackenspore and now that LFR gives ugly as fuck gear I don't even bother with that for transmog like I did with moP raids

    • @ChichiNaka
      @ChichiNaka 9 лет назад

      Dexter Curry Nah, stopped raiding in Cata because after what, 7 years? I got over needing to log in at a certain time and blah blah blah. LFR was fine for me all through MoP if I liked the appearance of the sets for certain classes I'd farm it out, now it offers nothing for me, I have 11 characters at roughly 665+ each just from doing about 1 minute of garrison work daily

      Plusy I recently started getting into it, Despite the fact they've dumbed down a lot of the pre end game content it's still really good and getting through to the final 8 man content takes a lot of dedication and time.
      Plus an expansion is coming out in a few weeks, adds new classes n stuff. Which might be why they're tuning down the current content.
      The only problem I have the FF right now is the AWFUL loot system, other than that it's pretty good.

    In essence, even the whole world of Draenor was a "revamped" model of Outland. I know it´s the same place and they couldn´t change that much, but they should have made a lot more other content than in previous expansions since the new zones were not completely new.

    Come play on Nostalrius, a solid vanilla server. It's about as blizzlike as it's gonna get. 6k+ players atm, with plans in the future to upgrade to TBC, analogous to the actual retail experience.
    Come and relive how WoW should be.

    Ive played WoW since beta test and stopped playing after reaching endgame in cata, i have to say its really sad that WoW as we used to know it have reached a point in its career where its just down hill... Every WoW veteran knows what im talking about.. If WoW ever had a "soul", its gone now and its so gone its impossible to return it back.

    As someone who has a lot going on in their life yet, I love to raid heroic/mythic. I love the fact that I don't have to spend hours on my one single toon in order to make him/her raid ready. I have several lvl 100s and now because of garrisons and minimal dailies I have 4 100s over 680 item lvl and two that I am preparing for raiding. I love to play different classes and experience a fight in different roles. Without garrisons and minimal dailies I do not think this would be possible. HM and BRF both still provided the challenge I look for so when I get the AOTC feats I feel accomplished. I think the fact that garrisons have made players more self sufficient and able to not sacrifice school/work time to maintain raid ready toons is a great thing

    I totally agree with everything! I just wish they somehow find a way to recapture that amazing feel we got in wrath....the raids might close to that but there is a serious lack in the social environment tbh small as it may seem I kind of missing chilling in dalaran with people...garrisons suck solo badly

    Everything you said was true, even myself as a current subscriber everyday since the past 2 months i think to just stop Playing the game and quit, but what keeps me going is my guild that i raid with, thats the only reason i keep myself hanged with the game, i literally dont do anything else but log on , raid, have fun in guild chat and ts little bit, log off and wait for the next day raid, thats pretty much it cuz i feel like there is nothing a lot to do in this game and just boring.

    I joined wow during early wrath, I've never been a hardcore raider, but I enjoy a raiding atmosphere. With raid difficulties being so divided, someone like me who wants to do more than LFR raids, but doesn't have the time to dedicate to mythic, or in somecases heroic raids. Simply put, there is no demand for normal mode raiding.
    I know Im not going to do mythic any time soon, but because people are spread across 3 difficulties not including LFR, many guilds are struggling to find 20 people for a mythic team.
