Yeah, always factor in your speed when designating a recovery spot. There are other errors besides the one you noticed. For example, you're supposed to be creating an Admiral (O-7), but the uniform and shoulder pads reflect a Captain (O-6). Neither the Captain, nor the Admiral were hands on with DC parties either. Admirals are in charge of the over all strategy and don't micromanage. In charge of/ responsible for The Admiral = Fleet Captain = Ship Air boss = Air Crew/Wings Cheng = Chief Engineer = Engineering Engineering has it's own "bridge" where a lot of information is consolidated in one spot. Power distribution, flooding, levels showing tilt/list of ship, etc. It's Pretty cool. This room would be the highest level controlling DC parties unless the Captain overrode it for "classified" reasons. Otherwise the standard listing of priorities that every sailor knows would be worked on in that order. float, movement, steering, radar, etc
All of these sim games are based entirely micromanagement. It wouldn't be completely fucking annoying if you didn't have books falling off the shelves in crew quarters you needed to deal with every 3 minutes.
You totally get the feeling the devs haven't even spent 20 minutes learning about those battles. That could prove to be a mortal wound on steam. Honestly, if you get bit by the bug of naval warfare these battles are some of the most well recorded and documented. You really want to do your home work here or people will burn you for it.
Loved the video @NoDak Express Gaming! First video of yours that I'm watching and I'm loving it! Little word of note for the Air Group you had, you had a right fighters for the War, at least until 1943 when the F6F Hellcat came out, but you had the Chance Vought SB2U Vindicator Dive Bombers from a Pre-war U.S. Navy when the SBD Dauntless had already replaced them by 1938, only for the Curtis SB2C Helldiver to replace them in 1943/1944. So, about the U.S. Navy "Tech Tree" if you will. This will hopefully help with any further Operations with the #USSSandbar in future videos of Aircraft Carrier Survival. The Cleveland-class Light Cruisers had 36 ordered, of which 9 were cancelled and the Remaining 27 Ships were built. Aircraft Carrier: the Main Ship of the Game. As you've pointed out, the devs put in the Three most Iconic Classes of this Type from the Second world war. The Lexington-class (2 Ships, USS Lexington CV-2, or should I say USS Sandbar, and USS Saratoga CV-3) the Yorktown-class (USS Yorktown CV-5, USS Enterprise CV-6, later CV(N)-6 after she was given better radar equipment as well as Radar-equiped F6F Hellcat Fighters and TBM Avenger Torpedo Bombers in 1943, thus being able to conduct Night Operations, and the USS Hornet CV-8) and Finally the 12, later on 24, Ships of the Essex-class Aircraft Carriers, some of which were named in honor of their Predecessors who made the ultimate sacrifice in the war. You can find the whole list of Ships in the Essex-class on Wikipedia. Battleships: Now, I'm not sure if these are in the game, but these ships are very powerful. Back in the last war, they were armed with 14 inch guns, then in 1942 you had the North Carolina-class, followed by the South Dakota-class with 16 inch/45 Caliber guns in Three Triple Turrets (2 and 4 Ships respectively, USS North Carolina BB-55 and USS Washington BB-56 and USS South Dakota BB-57, USS Indiana BB-58, USS Massachusetts BB-59 and USS Alabama BB-60) and then finally in around 1943/1944 you had the Iowa-class with their Three Triple Mount 16 inch/50 Caliber guns (USS Iowa BB-61, USS New Jersey BB-62, USS Missouri BB-63 and USS Wisconsin BB-64). The Iowa's would eventually be placed in Reserve after the war only to be reactivated for the Korean war, then back to reserve, then reactivated as Task Force Command ships in Vietnam as well as providing Fire Support for the Troops in country, usually in 9 month Deployments so that they could get some Refits now and then, and then after we pulled out of Vietnam the Iowa's were placed in Reserve again, but Being Reactivated for the Gulf war/Operation Desert Storm, until they were finally Decommissioned and Preserved as Museum Ships along with the North Carolina, The Alabama and the Massachusetts. New Jersey would join them in being in the State whose name she bears, while her Big Sister Iowa is at Los Angeles, California, her Younger sister Missouri is at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii being that she was the ship that the Japanese signed the Instrument of Surrender, and her Baby sister Wisconsin is at Norfolk, Virginia. I will probably cover the Smaller ships (I.E. Destroyers and Destroyer Escorts) and then go on to the Aircraft in a later video, should you make another video of Aircraft Carrier Survival! By the way, I would actually like to see more of this game and not just to keep my word, but just to see what you think of some of the later game missions after the "Coral Sea Aftermath" mission. I've probably spent about 3 hours typing this up, so hopefully it will help in the future.

The game has you taking on so much that your subordinates would, well-trained and motivated professional career officers running the various departments that make the carrier function and succeed. Your CHENG, or Chief Engineer, keeps the C.O. informed of everything concerning the engineering plant's condition right down to how many days of fuel remain. The Operations and Air-Operations officers run the flight operations down to spotting the deck and sending away strikes, recon/search and logistics-oriented flights. The X.O. is responsible to the C.O. for training and discipline of the crew, and it is he who supervises the damage control training and receives reports from the Damage Control Officer when the ship is damaged. The C.O. reports to the Admiral and has overall responsibility for seeing his ship complies with the Admiral's orders. The micro-management I'm seeing in these videos has never existed in the history of naval aviation. If one man had to do all that I see the gamer having to do in these videos, in real time, the ship's very survival would be impossible. The presence of an Admiral on board is not a requirement; he chooses when to leave his shore establishment and command a task force/group/unit at sea. He accepts reports from the C.O.s of the ships under his command either directly or through a subordinate member of his staff, and issues orders much the same way. The C.O.s of the individual ships direct the actions of their ships through the department heads. There is a clear chain of command up and down, and if there is one thing that a young officer is taught, it is that everything gets done because it gets done using the chain of command. Enlisted people who have a problem with having to take their problems to the next higher link in the chain and not directly to the department head or higher sometimes have to be 'coached' until they accept the military way of doing things. The lowest ranking person capable of taking care of a task is usually the one who has the job. That leaves most Admirals time to play with their rubber duckies and host bridge games 'on the beach' as opposed to living and working at sea. But all that aside, can you see a game creator get inspired over a project for a new game titled "Ops Boss-CDR Hobbs' Day at Sea"?

Not sure about US military standards for bearing, much less in the 1940s, but tie lengths are not actually supposed to be the tip ending at the top of the belt. Hey nodak they found a plane recently that is believed to be from flight 19. At least pieces of it
I have a strong feeling you should of called the carrier “USS Roog”

Funny thing, I served under an LT Frank and he was definitely a disappointment
