It's probably because you could use the argument as alternative realities. Xbox 360 and ps3 possibly had some of the best games ever made. Sure, ps4 and Xbox one games play well, but a lot of games now don't have as good stories. I mean, there aren't as many well crafted games these days. Apart from games like: Uncharted 4 and ND Collection, Last of us 1 and 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Gears of War. I remember when I was like 7 or 8, I had an Xbox 360. The feelings I had when I played games like Battlefield 4, Dead Island, red dead, assassin's Creed 2 and 3, and halo reach cannot be matched by any other games. People have said to me things like "it's just a game, there's nothing special about it" to me. People that haven't played video games don't know what it's like. I have cried in annoyance of not beating a level, I have cried because of a sad scene in a game, I was filled with joy when I got new games, I got sad when I finished games. Nothing in my life anymore can compete with those feelings. The things I have felt with playing games such as uncharted 1-4, horizon zero dawn, dead island, assassin's Creed brotherhood, 2 and 3, halo reach, god of war most of all, can not compete with any other feeling that I have ever felt. Gamers such as me don't rush through games. We feel how the game affects our emotions. We savour the feelings. We choose what we think is beneficial for the story, to kill, or to save people. I love games with great stories. Like interactive books. Novels you can write by yourself. If you sit down and play a game like Detroit or uncharted 4 for awhile, I guarantee your brain will feel better. There is something about the human brain that responds to these great games
It's never "just a game" the heros and story's we create in our adventures become who we are in our hearts. R.I.P Soap, Roach, Ghost, and Yuri you live within all of us.

Through all the suffering, fighting, victories, loss, the character we've lost, all the tears, the war we've been through, and all those mountains we've successfully climbed, it's all just a game at the end, but we put our heart to truly complete them and fight till the end. It's as if we have gone through so much yet it's all just a game. That's how powerful and how real a game could felt like
I know this might make alot of people disagree but, when I played cyberpunk till the end, I got the devil ending. That made me actually cry because I cared for everyone I lost then losing myself in the end. Goddamn that was a powerful game

@@Jack-vc2te I read what he said and though ‘huh that’s a little cringe’ and then I remembered that I’m in no position to judge anyone based on their passions- games mean different things to everyone, and while we probably wouldn’t use the word ‘gamer’ to describe ourselves, it is much cringier to gatekeep someone from something they are passionate about.
Confronting Lord Shimura in Ghost of Tsushima, watching Jackie die in front of us in Cyberpunk 2077, watching our bois Ghost, Roach, and Soap die, the ending to Final Fantasy 15, Lee’s death by Clementine to spare him a painful existence as a walker, watching Midna bid farewell forever to Link in Twilight Princess, Ryu sacrificing himself for an endless slumber to stop the demons in Breath of Fire 2, way too many emotional moments in gaming to count, yet all of them so memorable. What makes moments like these in gaming so impactful is the ability of player interactivity. We played through these moments in these games. We made the choices that let to those outcomes. It’s a reflection of ourselves and what we would do in those moments just as much as it is a reflection of what the characters did in those same moments.

I feel like most of these games have driven us to be much more aware and mature individuals, and have taught us very valuable life lessons.
