I scraped through high school algebra with a D, but not because I think I was inherently incapable of learning it, but because the math teacher didn't actually teach it. She'd give us the day's homework, but without showing us how to solve the equations or what the formulas meant. I'd turn it in the next day, she'd mark down all the mistakes I'd made, then assign that day's homework again for the next section, with no instruction on how to do any of it. Twenty years later and I'm still salty over it. Oddly enough, I was good at geometry, just because it made sense visually.
