- hiiiiii i love secondhand shopping and i wanted to chat about it! secondhand shopping can seem really daunting and difficult if you're not used to it, especially if you're plus size. i myself am definitely still getting my bearings with it; there are certain wardrobe staples (like pants) that i don't even try to buy secondhand because it's already so difficult to find them firsthand.
if you'd like some help getting into buying secondhand, i recommend checking out True Style (truestyle.subs..., a newsletter created by one of my twitter mutuals, Lakyn (OgLakyn on twitter). I've learned so much about secondhand shopping from following Lakyn, and i think you will too!

As a big girl myself your channel has changed my "waiting until i lose weight to wear what I want" attitude. I wish someone years ago told me I could feel good in clothes that aren't hiding my body AND look just as hot as people with smaller bodies. For the first time since my teens I can look back on photos and love what i'm wearing and how I looked and felt, without thinking "Everyone looked better but at least my stomach is hidden" or "Good job I wore that jacket the whole night and covered those arms". This spring/summer i've abandoned "ruched" and "slimming" body control swimsuits, I'm wearing a regular bikini style i've wanted to try for so long and for my next holiday. I've also received so many compliments and been told I give off an air of confidence these days :)) helped change my outlook alot ! ty

Niiiiisssa I gotta pro tip for you if you don’t really care about being perceived in public: so you’re in a thrift store with no fitting rooms, right? But they have mirrors, or if they have mirrors, you could walk in wearing biker shorts and a form fitting tank top and try stuff on over that. I’ve bought several pairs of pants/skirts that way, and as a curvy girl myself, I *need* to try stuff on. I can’t guesstimate when it comes to pants

Fast fashion tidbit from a plus size lady: I love thrifting and understand how challenging clothes and shoes can be for sizes outside straight/reg. That makes finding second hand SO exciting. One such famous find is leather shoes.
I actually tend to lean towards leather (shock, horror) over pleather (even when buying new) because despite being made of an fresh water use heavy, methane polluting material, it is natural, biodegradable, and LASTS. I have leather boots that have lasted 5 years and in that time I would have had a vegan leather pair for every 1 of those years because being a busy, heavy lady, the plastic polyurethane stuff gets destroyed. Leather can be treated, waterproofed, re-soled, and repaired. I figure it keeps PU pairs out of the trash. Honestly I don't know which has a smaller impact, but I appreciate the appeal of natural hide from a sustainability perspective.

I am a vegetarian (eat fish very occasionally, so I guess pesci?) but I 100% don't judge anyone who wears second hand leather or would call them any less sustainable for it. I have one or two second-hand leather things and they do tend to wear longer and be more repairable. I personally would not buy new leather, but some people do have to because of their individual lives and circumstances

Nearly every piece of clothing I own is from Good Will or my local thrift store!! My size 11 feet are the bane of my existence!! I think I only have one pair of shoes that I’ve thrifted. Like you, I wear them until they’re just trash!! I have actually shrunk 2 inches in my old age😢 I used to be 5”11 and I’m now 5”9!! I’ve also lost 72 lbs from very curved, womanly 57 yr old body. Didn’t try to, I’m ill and drs just can’t seem to figure out what the hell is wrong!! Thank you for sharing your thrifted goodies!!!❤

NGL the modcloth dress was my favorite of the dresses you showed! it's really bold and you look amazing in it! ALSO! for the short dress you can always wear opaque tights underneath! Maybe I just have no style but I'd go with 80s style neon tights and wear matching colored accessories.

But seriously I’ve been a thrifter for my entire life. My family grew up lower-middle class so we couldn’t always afford new clothes. We relied on thrift stores and hand-me-downs, and I still carry that habit into adulthood.
The mint dress at ~13:00 would be such a cute top! The cowl draping is cool. Looks like you could just open up the side seams to try out different bodice lengths, then cut & hem it (as long as the fabric isn't too slippery).

That modcloth dress is STUNNING I wish I could find modcloth stuff in my country’s thrift stores
okay, maybe it's the diy-er cosplayer in me, but listen...you could ADD something to the bottom of that green dress instead of cutting it up or getting rid of it 👀 it's actually pretty easy to thrift weird but cool fabric in the bedsheets/curtains/misc section for pretty cheap, and if you wanted to add a little ruffle or something to the bottom to lengthen it, that could be cute! especially if you find something that looks nice with those gloves bc they're great!! (or even something to match your little watermelon earrings 😌)
if you did do that, you might want to try tying in the new fabric to the rest of the dress by like making a belt out of the same fabric, or adding it to the neckline somehow to make it look more cohesive. I'm a big fan of altering pieces you find that aren't qUITE right to lessen clothing waste even more!
