Am a long time subscriber, Taku. Thank you for stopping by my little but proud country. Hope you and Jocelyn enjoyed your experience there! Chehoooo 🇼🇸
Brings back many good memories with the lady in pink whom helped prepared the food. She also stood at the table and shuu the flies with her coconut leaf fan, so her guests can enjoy their food. The part when you mentioned the sweet aroma of the Banana leafs. So happy for you to have experienced the real way to Umu!!
I'm a New Zealand born Tongan and being a polynesian myself I absolutely loved this episode. Cheehooo. One day I will visit this paradise we call The heart of Polynesia and I'll eat all the lovely treats of Samoa lol
I've had the pleasure of getting to know a few Samoans quite well. Two of them became very close friends, we did everything together. I spent 3 years as a brother to them and an uncle to their children in So Cal. They are the kindest, most straight forward people on this planet in my opinion. I saw things the same way they did. When it was time to say goodbye we all knew we were probably never going to see each other again and it broke our hearts. We worked together, played rugby together, and went to the weight room together. We shared a work ethic, and a good sense of right and wrong that we were willing to back up. That was 35 years ago. I'll never forget them. Iona and Faatapi....I really loved you guys. I doubt it will happen, but it sure would be nice to see you again. I guess that's just the way life is.
Thank you 4 sharing this awesome Vlog of my Mothers Homeland of beautiful Samoa Taku n Partner...I took my wife (French) and 2 beautiful twin daughters (7 year old) to visit my Samoan roots as Im half Italian Samoan...My wife and kids ❤'d it so much that we added another 5 days to our schedule. Loved the simplicity of living, friendly people and awesome THINGS TO DO both in Upolu, Savaii and Manono Islands. Glad our daughters got to see their Nannas Samoan side and they are soooooo proud of having Samoan blood in their DNA 😊 Wife wants to go back to Samoa soon.... and we just want to say thanks for sharing...Brings back great memories ❤🇼🇸🇮🇹🇳🇿🇨🇵❤ P.S.....THE UMU LOOKS SOOOOO DIVINE, YUMMYYYYYY 🥳
Stumbled upon this channel by chance, and now my evenings are spent with the sounds of your fascinating content. Who else is in the fan club? 🌙🎉🌸🌸 ( 💧'
I've been watching your content since you were fishing back out in Frisco (The Bay) and how left working in sushi bars to, watching you go from Portland to Seattle up the pacific coast, to actually going more south into the pacific like Australia, then watching you go to New Zealand, now you're in Samoa now you're in what is known as the Polynesian Islands. Love seeing it, I'm TONGAN, very similar cultures, and foods, but yeah love to see it, Talofa Lava to our neighbors!! Thank you for sharing and using your platform to share our Polynesian Cultures!!
Just beautiful people honestly such beautiful people really makes you forget about everything else that's happening in the world Samoan people 🙏❤️we can learn so much from them 🥰🥹
OMG the people there seemed sooooo friendly and genuine. Also, from Taku's face you can tell the food was delicious. Dang I would have liked to see more of the feast.
Damn Padre! I've been following you for about at least 3 years. Since you're from the Bay Area, I love your content. It's awesome you went to my home land 💪🏽🙏🏽🔥
These are the best! I love the traditional ones. The culture shock to an American doing something like this for the first time is something i’ll never forget. The food is so much better at the end of the day.
@@jeremymaccarthy1180 nationals, not citizens. Also he said samoa, not american samoa. Different islands. Semantics aside, it is still a cultural shock to an american.
This was an awesome video of Samoa👏 This is the only video that makes me want to visit. Love it and the people here look humble and happy. You've given a better view on Samoa Thankyou
Thankyou for going to Samoa! I was happy to see you doing the things Samoan people do. I really enjoyed seeing my people and you interact. I hope only the best for you and your channel. Taku Tuesdays forever!!!!!
I found your channel through my coworker last year and I’ve been subscribed ever since. I’m Samoan raised in American Samoa. I’m stoked you made it to the Samoan islands. Everything in this episode was an everyday chore for us. Thanks brother for the exposure and I love all your content. Also, I’m crackin up from all the Samoan language dialogue in the background. Specifically when the lady’s showing you how to make a “Filiga” or weaving the coconut leaf around the fish, I heard the Samoan guy in the background scolding someone how lazy they are for not helping sooner but coming whenever they felt like 🤣.
🌴 Hey you two, thanks for taking us along a lot of people never leave their state never mind the country, there’s just something about the remoteness of an island , and the scenery, the culture, and the people that brings out the best , the easy going and politenesses, takes you away from a rat race world , great video as always , stay safe and have fun .
Man Taku, thank you so much for visiting my homeland. You did it the best way possible which is the traditional way, learning and seeing our way of life is very humbling for me to watch. Brings back great memories of home, been a big fan of your channel for a long time and never thought I'd see you fishing in my country. So cool!!! The people of the South Pacific are some of the friendliest and loving people you'll ever come across in life.
