  • TIG welding on the open root with downhill root pass technique.
    Downhill a TIG root is a valuable technique to learn that comes in handy when in tight spots, and to upgrade your skills as a TIG welder.
    The video gives the viewer good insights into how to place a good and solid root pass. With the appropriate training and practice on the part of the operator, learning to downhill root can become an invaluable skill!
    If the puddle gets too large, gravity will simply pull it away ...(especially at the side quarters). This is why molten metal is especially challenging for beginners.

    Once again you're helping me man. I'm shitting bricks because I can't find anything on downhill root passes for TIG. And I came across this I have a 6g test all downhill tomorrow morning thanks. For the video.

    That was nice, I guess it just comes down to practice practice practice huh. Maybe you could demo what to do with your filler wire when you want to rest your feed hand for a moment. If you know what I mean. Thanks
