    "The cricket" guitar sound. Brad Gillis pioneered that back on the Night Ranger Dont Tell Me You Love Me solo from 1982. He did it by either flicking the tremolo bar or banging on the guitar body to achieve it. Has something to do with the spring tension in the Floyd Rose or similar bridge set up.

  • @ohwaitwhatsthis1327
    @ohwaitwhatsthis1327 3 года назад

    That sound at the end was him hitting the whammy bar Like a quick slap. The springs that make the bridge float are fairly rigid, so when you quickly slap the bar, it sounds like what you just heard.

    A mi gusto, la mejor época de Dream Theater. La química era insuperable entre todos sus miembros y James estuvo a tope con su voz, luego alla por 1996/1999 la perdió y al día de hoy, no la ha vuelto a encontrar, sobre todo en vivo.

    that sound is called a Flutter or chirp. You get it by lightly flicking the whammy bar and let it bounce on it's own after picking either a harmonic or note..

    This is definitely old school Dream Theater because drummer is Mike Portnoy (played in DT from 1985 to 2010) before current drummer, Mike Mangini took over the drums

    Thank you for this, one of the only channels I have seen react to mid 90's DT live, when James was an absiolute monster. He unfortunately got food poisoning, which led to a decline with his vocals, and combined with years of more wear and tear he's a shell of what he was. But nobody ever tends to do reactions to prime James so this was nice

    • @sufidurrani537
      @sufidurrani537 3 года назад

      Poor James dude. People shit on him all the time. If only he wasn't poisoned. I will kill to have his old voice. But I still love DT. I can still get over with James's voice now.
      (Even if it's horrible)

    • @CompleteProducer84
      @CompleteProducer84 3 года назад

      @@sufidurrani537 Yeah agreed, he still sounds really good in the studio and to me, that’s what’s most important. Love or hate The Astonishing, I actually think that is one of James’ best sounding studio performances, far past his prime. My frustration with his live performances that he tries to do way too much. I understand his vocal degradation, but I feel that if he just kept things simple he would have a much easier time hitting some notes and runs

I though to put some different era Dream Theater although the sound quality isn't quite on par the live recordings these days.
